Guest Reviews
- Jacqueline (10/5): Fantastic country experience & loved seeing a couple of wombats at dusk when going for a stroll - Serene cottage with warm country welcome, homemade scones & trimmings with a pot of tea. Hosts were friendly & easy to communicate with. Awesome breakfast provided
- Karina (8/5): This was a perfect calming retreat for us to stay at a challenging time. - The cottage is beautifully maintained and presented. There is a glorious view, a running creek and farm animals to see. The continental breakfast could have more variety to choose from. Out of the options available, we only really ate the toast and there was one piece each with limited spread options.
- Poppy (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Fernbrook Cottage. Very cosy and nice to disconnect from the outside world
- Markéta (9/5): - Lokalita na farmě s klokany. Dobrá snídaně od hostitele.
- Desmond (10/5): - Lovely place, lovely people, great relaxing vibe and very comfortable accomodation. Access to outdoor cooking facilities. Outside in nature most of the time. No wifi or Internet but not really needed. There's Telstar coverage but we didn't have it.
Shower is in a bath,,adequate and not major issue.
- Christine (9/5): Close to town but feels like a world away - loved it! - Peaceful, secluded, historical charm, wildlife, character building and amenities.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect spot to get away for a few days - 2nd visit to the cottage, and we had another lovely stay.
Great hosts, perfect getaway from the city for a few days, and my son loves homemade scones and jam.
Would definitely recommend

- Jerry (10/5): - Cosy, quaint, homely, and intentional. Will definitely be back
- Amy (8/5): Relaxing, peaceful and picturesque - It was peaceful and very picturesque, the claw bath was lovely and it was like stepping back in time before technology and social media, where you can relax and breathe. The owners were nice and friendly and made a
us scones with jam and cream….Yum! The bed was a bit hard for me, and just need a bit more hot water to fill the bath.
- Peter (10/5): - It was just so relaxing we were welcomed as soon as we got there. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay there
- Judy (7/5): -
- Sandy (10/5): Perfect getaway - The peace and quiet. You really felt like you were a world away from the hustle & bustle of city life Nothing to dislike
- Eloise (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend others to stay here! - The view, the serenity, the service by the lovely couple who own the property. Nothing. It was cold but we had enough heaters to keep us warm.

- Christine (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Loved our stay here. The accomodation had the charm of yesterday. Every little thing was thought about for guests. Loved the wildlife too.
- Murray (10/5): Services and location are outstanding - Everything was amazing There was nothing i didn't like, everything was amazing
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional - Very cosy little cottage with all you need. You wake up in the morning and see all the kangaroos sunning themselves on the field across from the creek. Gary is a great host and goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable.
- Peter (8/5): Comfortable/interesting - Excellent
- Safia (10/5): Be prepared to switch off - The place is beautiful and away from all the hustle and bustle of tourism. In fact, book an extra day so you have some quality time here enjoying a long breakfast and sunset dinner with a chance to do some of the Blue Mountains in between. Also there’s no WiFi so be prepared to switch off as the mobile signal is also non existent inside. All the nature and the surrounding make up for rainy days and drive slowly, as the kangaroos jump in front of the car! Just wonderful and the hosts are super friendly and leave you to your own devices. Thanks so much for the extra toast and eggs!
- Patti (8/5): Rustic living from a bygone era, seldom experienced these days. - A perfect spot to experience the lovely countryside and life on the farm. Kangaroos and farm animals in your backyard. Garry went out of his way to make us feel at home.
- Mirritya (10/5): Loved it!!! - Fernbrook Cottage was the most delightful stay! Garry and Julie were warm and welcoming. The cottage was cosy and comfortable. I look forward to staying there again! There were a few minor things, but these really just added to the quaintness of the property.
- Pam (8/5): Very good -
- Vinnie (10/5): Awesome farmstay - Beautiful view , nice heritage, farmstay, breakfast All good
- Wayne (10/5): If you wish for an authentic heritage style setting this is your place, - Gary & Julie were amazing from the start, great communication via email, the cottage was delightful as the property.
Very quiet & comfortable rural setting,
We will be back for sure. Nothing,
Just as described.
- Jörg (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice traditional cottage on a farm with all comfort you can imagine. I had a very relaxing time, but could also easily reach hiking trails in the Blue Mountains or the Zig Zag Railway. Very nice hosts who help you with everything.
- Lisa (9/5): Great weekend getaway - Lovely cottage in a wonderful setting.
Hosts were friendly and very helpful, and welcomed us with homemade scones with jams and cream.
Perfect place to switch off. Na
- Rick (9/5): Great little gettaway - Really nice setting and outlook.. Breakfast was quite adequate. Friendly hosts. Everything you wanted was there. Highly recommend it as a stay/ All good
- Duffy (9/5): Superb -
- Gmcd (8/5): A very pleasant and comfortable stay in a quaint historical cottage. - A quaint historical cottage in a lovely rural setting. The hosts were very welcoming and the homemade scones with jam and cream on our arrival was an unexpected bonus. We had a lovely wander around the farm in the warm afternoon sun including seeing a wombat. The breakfast was perfect for our needs. All in all we had a very comfortable stay. The only downside is the covered outside cooking area with the fridge and sink which in wet and windy weather would not have been good, and the cutlery needs a good rinse.
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - A charming, cosy and quaint cottage. Warm, friendly hosts, greeting us on arrival with scones, jam and cream. A comfortable step back in time with modern conveniences. Loved the outdoor kitchen facilities with fire pit and gas heater. Enjoyed a farm stroll alongside the creek. A quality continental breakfast with stewed apple and rhubarb and yoghurt included, capped off our stay nicely. Highly recommend this experience.
- Lee (10/5): A step back in time. An absolute must to have this experience. - Oh my goodness! If you are looking to experience some Australian History from the 1800's this is your place. What an exceptional experience. Garry and Julie and their menagerie of animals were amazing. From bacon and eggs for breakfast and a surprise smoko of homemade scones. We can't rate this place highly enough. 11 out of 10 for us! We couldn't stay longer!
- Steven (6/5): Needs some tweaks - Quiet peaceful surroundings which was why we chose this accommodation. With a few modifications it would be far more comfortable. The biggest was insufficient heating and hot water. Heating options were a biofuel fire and an electric fan heater neither of which were effective. Bath was only able to be filled to a level of 8 inches before the hot water ran out altogether, leaving us to sit in a warmish puddle. Smoke detector went off at random intervals during the night one night but no response from owner.
Kitchen area outside was ok but very cold in August. Outdoor gas heater not operational.
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maree (9/5): Beautiful - Beautiful place! So cosy, beautiful views, and the animals are gorgeous. Would have liked to have been able to keep the fire going in the sitting room (but I understand why it is set up how it is!)
- Robert (8/5): Remote and relaxing - take your thermals - Very rustic and of its time. Great hosts are Gary and Julie. Despite the rubbish weather we were able to really relax with a bath, some games of backgammon and reading. Warren the wombat made an appearance and the llama n kangaroos and sheep were fun to watch. The resident collie provides a warm welcome. Be aware it was cold but heating was made available. This place in summer will be ideal and we”ll be back to enjoy the bbq and stars as well ..
- Bethany (8/5): Very good -
- Nichola (9/5): Lovely getaway - Lovely stay at Fernbrook. Unique character and beautiful surrounds. We enjoyed the fire outside in the evening.
- Brandon (10/5): Exceptional - Garry was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is cozy with everything you need. The scones on arrival was a bonus! Walking around the farms we saw cows, sheep, loads of kangaroos and a wombat. We will definitely be back.
- Dan (7/5): Good value for money experience. For me the shower let us down. - Owners welcome with scones was wonderful. Breakfast was great. Very clean. Comfortable bed and antique furniture. No stand up shower. No path to outside kitchen. Got wet feet going to and fro.
- Judy (10/5): We loved this place - so much character, and such a beautiful setting - Such a charming little cottage - so sweet, delightful view over the fields with sheep and cows, kangaroos. Rustic and charming. Quiet and comfortable A little hard to find - a couple of signs on the road would have been handy.
- Vivien (7/5): quiet spot for a short country get away - lovely comfortable cottage
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- Hendy (10/5): Exceptional - The ladies (chooks), the scenery, the unique accommodation & the bbq. Nothing not to like.
- Sharon (10/5): We loved our stay. The place is relaxing, quiet and the air is fresh. - We loved the place. Its probably not for everyone though. Very relaxing. Host provided wonderful breakfast which we cooked on the BBQ as well as scones on arrival. We walked around the property and enjoyed the peace and all the animals (cows, sheep, alpacas, chooks). The creek was flowing and we sat outside at night around a fire. Very close to Lithgow so plenty of day trips to do. Door handle was a bit tricky. Needs a bit of maintenance.
- Koichi (8/5): Very good - excellent! phone connection
- Patricia (8/5): was a great weekend- beautiful location- lovely hosts - animals ,serenity- peace cold morning- cooking outside
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jarryd (10/5): Exceptional - Cottage was lovely and clean. Garry and Julie were incredible hosts.
Location was also fairly close to Lithgow. There's nothing to dislike. 😊
- Li (8/5): Very good -
- Nina (9/5): Increadible good!! - Breakfast 🥓🍳was very good, even with some home made itens and local production. Joghurt and orange 🍊Jam were delicious.
Everything was very well organized.
It was my birthday and they did a very delicious Brithday Cake.🍰 As it was raining on Saturday night, we were not able to enjoy the outside area.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pamela (10/5): We loved this little retreat away from our hectic lives. - Great location close to Lithgow but very quiet and beautiful. Host was very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. The cottage itself is like stepping back in time. A very relaxing weekend. A second comfy chair in the lounge room would be good.
- Isaac (9/5): would love to come back. - loved the farm location and the cottage is very cute. Garry is a great host and provided me with brekky and an afternoon tea. was great having the property to wander and see the animals. I also loved sitting outside at the fire pit. was very clean and very homely. there is no mobile reception in the cottage, but a short walk up the driveway and you get decent service.
- Isaias (9/5): Garry help us a lot. Always responsive and even provided some extra perks for us to enjoy our stay. -
- Cherie (10/5): Perfect getaway - The cottage was so tranquil and relaxing. A perfect setting with spectacular views. We were so impressed with our hosts who made our stay extra special, scones with jam and cream on arrival and breakfast provisions. Even gave us a little treat for our anniversary. The animals were an added bonus and loved hearing about the history too.
Was also close to town if you needed anything. Totally off grid which was a nice change.
- Shrestha (10/5): Exceptional - For a rustic, back to nature - away from the city - type of experience (detoxing from the 24/7 city work - work - work lifestyle), we found our small cottage absolutely perfect for what we were seeking.
- Marie (9/5): Superb -
- Jasmin (8/5): Very good - Beautiful little heritage cottage.
my kids were surprised to see such old world. it was so lovely.
- Anonymous (9/5): tranquil, picturesque location with charming accommodation. Loved meeting the wombat - Beautiful location and charming cottage with excellent hospitality
- Andrea (5/5): I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone. - A lovely country setting and a cottage with great location. A very awkward shower, hot water running out, coffee machine unsatisfactory, and the cottage cold when we returned the evening. Just one really comfortable chair. No TV. We left after one night, although we had paid for 2. Being another cold day and very wet, we did not want to have to return to a cold cottage to feel warm.
- Brown (7/5): I'm looking forward to another visit. - Bbq bacon and eggs was made even more delicious sitting under the verandah watching the peace and stillness of the countryside. Being able to go for a walk on the property was good. The mattress was rather hard for me.
