Guest Reviews
- Gemma (10/5): Gorgeous room in a gorgeous city! - It was in a brilliant location, the facilities were perfectly clean and the room was so interesting and fun. It was a unique experience and our host was so lovely and really looked out for us, making sure we were well looked after. Would absolutely recommend staying here, I wished we’d stayed a little longer! It was just a bit difficult to find when we arrived late at night but we eventually found the correct building.
- verjauw (9/5): Heel comfortabel, proper, dicht bij centrum. - Mooie rustige locatie. Het verblijf voldeed aan al mijn verwachtingen

Great big clean room with everything you need, a really lovely place that the owner is clearly proud of. A great stay - thank you 💪🏼
- Francesca (9/5): - Lovely clean little place, super close to the main square
- Brian (9/5): Good value, great location in the town with easy access to all tourist amenities - Great location in the town close to all amenities Nothing

- Joseph (1/5): - The room resembled a tomb. The room resembled a tomb The room resembled a tomb.
- Rebecca (8/5): Great location and lovely place to visit. - Location and proximity to attractions and eateries. Not receiving any communication from the host until the day of our arrival and only after messaging them to inquire were they received.
Climbing the stairs with luggage was a challenge and there was a poor smell bear the front door of the property.
- STEPHEN (9/5): Great place with an amazing host. - Great location for viewing everything. Host is amazing and takes exceptional care to detail. Nothing. Was what we expected and wanted.
- Fletcher (8/5): -
- Sehr zentrale Lage, sehr sauber. Gutes komfortables Bett
- Debbie (10/5): Comfortable - Location Nothing
- Tim (9/5): Short stay, close to centre, easy parking...perfect! - Parking nearby was simple and after a short walk, found the front door. Instructions about entry were texted well in advance and everything worked well. Accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable and only a very short walk from the Cloth Hall. Only a one night stay, but could have stayed much longer The shower door leaked a bit, but we were forewarned; apart from that, it was spot on!
- David (8/5): - Great location only a 2 minute walk from the centre
- Braeckmans (7/5): -
- Alice (9/5): - Great Location and very tidy room
- Dirk (8/5): Perfect - Close to the centre
Clean
Comfortable beds
- Nikki (10/5): - Great location
- Rob377072 (10/5): Great value and a great location. - The location was perfect for the city centre, and it was easy to park our car near the property. The host is a really nice guy and its our second stat with him. Nothing really.
- Yves (6/5): - Ontvangst was prima.
- Bradley (10/5): Excellent stay, hassle free and a lovely host - Easy to find, comfortable, clean, free parking close by, very friendly and welcoming host!
- Steve (7/5): - Nice room. Was advertised as a B and B but no breakfast included. No info about wifi.
- Roel (9/5): Netjes. - Zeer nette kamer.
- Gil (10/5): Excellent - Excellent communication with host. Very accommodating and helpful.Appt in excellent location with restaurants within 10 minutes walk.
- PHILIPPE (9/5): Super top -
- Attila (10/5): Highly recommended city and a perfect place to stay, - The location was ideal, and the welcome was exceptional. The thoughtful gestures, including a local beer upon arrival and a complimentary drink at a nearby bar when collecting the keys, were greatly appreciated. Furthermore, the dinner recommendation was excellent, and mentioning the establishment (Het Kapittel) resulted in an additional complimentary beverage. There was none.
- Carol (4/5): - Clean and central Bathroom facilities including the toilet were in same area as living area with only saloon type door separating them. Was only a half wall separating the two. There was not any extraction fan which can prove embarrassing.
Each night we were there between midnight and 3 am the other occupants went up and down creaking stairwell slamming doors extremely loudly.
A tv was not supplied. Advertising as a bed & breakfast food was not supplied.
We would not recommend this to anyone who did not want a hostel style accommodation.

Heel prachtig huis. Houten vloeren. Alles was aanwezig.
- B . I . NIC (10/5): - Extraordinary Reception
You’ll be warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink upon arrival. Your room is thoughtfully equipped with a coffee machine, cutlery, plates, and cups for your convenience. In addition to the complimentary welcome beverage, chilled water and delicious beer are provided to quench your thirst 😍 perfect for unwinding after a long day.
Confortable nice double size bed for the night rest

- Val (9/5): Lovely room would book again - Large room lots of little extra bits very welcoming even got a free beer at the bistro No view from room as such but at least we had a window!

- Bristol (9/5): Loft apartment in Ieper - A lovely apartment in the centre of Ieper close to the Church. My room was in the attic with original wooden beams exposed which was great. Large room and bathroom. Great communication from the owner prior to arrival. A welcoming Beer 🍺 was also provided which was a nice touch. Google maps took me to the wrong place initially as the address on Google was wrong. I have requested an update so hopefully no one else makes the same mistake. The correct address is on Booking.com.
- Lisa (10/5): We had an amazing visit would come again - It was very close to the centre
- Filip (9/5): Cosy place at the heart of Ypres - Great place to stay close to the center. The owner was very friendly, offering free beers for our entire party when picking up the keys. Nice spacious room with good beds. No door to the bathroom
- Stefan (10/5): Cozy apartment within walking distance of Ieper centrum - Excellent location within walking distance to the city center. Nice greeting beforehand with the owner at his bar where a complimentary beer was served. Excellent way to start our stay. Comfortable beds and cozy accommodations made it a perfect getaway. Nothing really. Everything was good.
- Morag (7/5): Its really lovely except..... - The location is very central and we could park outside. Great. The room is very clean and bright. I love the comfortable bed, the coffee machine and good coffee pods, milk, thoughtful extras, beer, water, glasses, plates, lovely cups. Great shower and towels. Super helpful host. Free drink at the nearby key pick up point bar. The stairs are steep but ok. For heavens sake....the elephant in the room is the bathroom. Clean, Spacious, bright, great shower BUT the ensuite partition is shoulder height! Much as I love my husband I do not wish to share my post dinner toileting with the rest of the bedroom, let alone his company. Why not take the partition to the ceiling ? or raise it a bit and give it a lid? Give it a proper door? Is this even legal? The huge bedoom and bathroom windows looked onto a happy BBQ party. I didn't care about that. I will never see them again.
- Miriam (8/5): Very good - Location The lack of a door to the ensuite and the steep stairs
- Jerry (10/5): Lovely place to spend a night in Leper - Location was excellent to access the local restaurants and the Menen Gate.
The host was a very nice gentleman who offered me a refreshing beer which I needed after a 600km motorcycle ride.
- David (10/5): Lovely hosts, great beer, great location - My wife stayed as I was ill. She loved it, warm welcome with a free beer that matched the room - she loved it!! Best version of b and b ever in her opinion Nothing - she loved it
- Antoine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Lovely room in a great location - Great location in the heart of Ypres. Complementary beer water tea and coffee in the room. Nice spacious room with good size bathroom. Very nice host.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristy (8/5): Very good - Great location, very clean and good set up.
- Pearly (6/5): It was fine for exploring the town and surrounding areas for a day. - Location The room was really cold. It’s more like a room in someone’s house. There was no bathroom door as such, just a shower unit and toilet at one end of the bedroom…
- Tom (10/5): A perfect stay in the beautiful town of Ieper - The bnb was located in the middle of the town of Ieper and therefore only a short walk was needed to be in the middle of the town. The house was very clean, very well kept and when we came in there was a beer (the beer that the room is named after) in the room for us. There was a coffee machine with enough cups to last us the weekend and the owner had turned on the heating as it was very cold outside.
The bathroom was the cleanest bathroom I have ever seen and there were some toiletries in the shower and in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and warm enough for the cold evenings.
We also got a beer at the cafe of the owner which had INSANELY GOOD FOOD! The first night we decided to eat there and it did not disappoint and was not expensive at all!! The owners were nice and we would love to return one day to Ieper and stay at the same bnb!
- Rob377072 (10/5): Superb location and well maintained apartment - The location was excellent, right in the centre of the town close to all the main sites, bars and restaurants. The bathroom could be a little more private, but it was fine.
- Ken (10/5): Totally amazing. would stay there again (and probably will) - Loved the welcome beer at the bar when checking in and the friendliness of the host
- Joanne (9/5): A lovely attic room, well equipped and comfortable. - Looked lovely. Well equiped. Comfortable. Internet kept dropping out.
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional - Location and clean. Everything was Great! Highly Recommended!
- Barrie (9/5): Superb - In an ideal location for what we wanted and clean decent room for the night . Great communication with owner. All in all excellent Its not that i didnt like it or there was a problem but parking is a liitle difficult there were two of us in two cars so struggled a bit as it was busy there but we managed
- Valerie (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (9/5): Stylish room in a quiet location. - Very light, stylish room with an interesting layout in a quiet area. Comfortable bed, nice hot shower, and a tea/coffee maker. Perfect for me as a solo traveller. Simon, the host is easily contactable if needed. It didn't affect me, but only two coat hangers could be a problem for a couple. The shower door doesn't close fully.
- Sara (10/5): Ypres is a lovely place and this accommodation provides everything you need for a short stay - We've stayed before so back to appreciate the free parking outside the front door, having the place to ourselves (!), and the free beer at the owner's restaurant ! Nothing - all as expected.
- Jo (8/5): Great place - enjoyed our stay. - Location. Host. Nice room. The bathroom not being separate from the bedroom.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Warren (8/5): Charming, central, comfy and quirky, loved it! - A charming older property, lovely vibe and superb location. Super friendly host and a lovely gesture with a free beer at his bar. Bravo! The shower door wouldn’t close so the floor was soaked. We used one of the towels to clean it/absorb the water. Saloon style toilet (open in the room) was unusual! 🤭
- Jenny (9/5): Superb - The property is in an excellent location close to everything. Room is clean tidy and the bed is comfortable. Love the little touches Simon does and he goes out of his way to help you. Excellent stay.
- Simon (10/5): Charming and good value for money - Very nice property just a stones throw from the more noisy centre of Ypres. It's quiet and very comfortable. The bed and bedlinen were great, and the room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. You pick up they keys from the owner's bar and they give you a complimentary beer. I had my bike with me and they were very helpful about letting me leave it in the accommodation hallway. The room was had some nice touches and a good coffee machine and biscuits. Also a fridge if you need it. I have read some negative comments about the toilet being in the same room as you sleep in. I don't agree - it is behind a small wall but I guess if you're travelling with someone then yes, it's true the toilet is not behind a closing door so it's not as private as a hotel would be. But this place is charming, and good value for money.
- Andrea (4/5): Overbooking - Overbooking, I get the money back. Overbooking, booking let me book the room anyway even it was full.
- Beth (7/5): Good - Location was very good. Host communicated well. Room was very clean and nice. Toilet is in the same room as the bed. While technically private, it certainly wasn't what we were expecting.
- Dally (9/5): Superb -
- Absolutely (9/5): Superb - Lovely room with some lovely little touches.
The location was great, not far from the lovely square. Nothing
- Joseph (9/5): Superb -
- Sue (9/5): Clean, comfortable and good value - Clean, comfortable and convenient for visiting WWI sites.
- Clare (10/5): Fantastic - Great communication from Simon who had a lovely bistro nearby where he offered complimentary welcome drinks. He was extremely welcoming and friendly. The accommodation had lots of little extras. Nothing
- Cody (10/5): Amazing! Easy check-in and check-out, clean and comfortable room, nice little touches. Highly recommend stopping in to t - Location, cleanliness, little touches like table settings and openers/glasses, little toiletry pieces, and excellent decor.
- Kimberly (1/5): Disappointed. We didn’t even stay for one night we went elsewhere and paid again!!! - Only that it was in the town we were staying! It was cold, the heating didn’t come on.
The stairs were far too steep, the door to our room did NOT lock or even line up to the lock and when you opened the door you walked straight into the toilet area of the room that did NOT have a separate door to the bedroom!!!!
- Belinda (10/5): Simon was extremely helpful & amiable. Accommodation was excellent - Close to bars/shops/atteactions Nothing!
- Sonia (8/5): Very good - Handy for the centre of Ypres. Nice welcome with a beer when collected keys. Free parking nearby. Appeared to be part of someone's home. Bathroom in the room only separated by some small saloon type doors. OK for us as married a long time, not so good if in new relationship as lack of privacy.
- Robert (10/5): Het Kapittel was by far our best host in all respects... thank you, sincerely... Rob & Karen - Het Kapittel host was very helpful in assisting us with our urgent luggage 'situation', enabling us to visit my Great Uncle's early 1915 wartime experiences on the Ypres Western Front (luggage free); and making us feel welcome. We really appreciated his efforts to assist our 'limited travel options' in enabling us to 'walk the battle fields unencumbered. Sadly, my Great Uncle was killed 25th January 1915, along with his first cousin, 8th March 1915. The big bonus for us was being able to visit his final resting place at the London Rife Brigade Cemetery, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium. Really appreciated the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, those guys who dedicate themselves to the ceremony have my lasting gratitude.
- Stephanie (9/5): Recommended, peaceful self contained room close to amenities. - Great location, easy to walk to the shops, cathedral, museum and Menin Gate. I was able to easily park my car in the street outside, free of charge. Comfy bed, everything was very clean. Good WiFi. There were lovely and very appreciated extras like bottled water, decent coffee and even a beer! I had to communicate with the host and they were really quick to reply and very helpful with my queries. Easy drive to Tyne Cot Cemetery and many other war cemeteries and memorials. A small hairdryer would have been amazing.
- Boris (10/5): Wonderful experience in the heart of Ieper! - Incredible stay in the heart of Ieper! The room is wonderful, perfectly arranged. Just a few steps from the Grote markt. The owner is a marvelous person. Very kind, professional and with a lot of hints about visiting the city. Plus, the most important thing, he owns a bistro and he is an expert brewmaster. We were traveling in Belgium for the beers also. Meeting him become a precious memory about our trip. He personally produces 3 beers (the tripel was wonderful IMHO). But in his bistro he serves other local beers as well. The stay in Ieper will not be the same without visiting him!
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb - The room and the facilities were both lovely Everything was to my satisfaction
- Steven (8/5): Very good value that close to centre of town - 5 minute walk up to main square
Quiet
Good WC
Lots of space
Good communication with host Narrow stairs required concentration (that's Europe)
- Sara (9/5): A glimpse into the lives of the city that rose from total destruction into a beautiful copy of what had been lost. - It’s very well placed near the beautiful city centre and 5 minutes walk from the Menin Gate. We also loved the free welcome beer in the traditional cafe where we collected the key. We liked it all.
