The kids loved seeing the animals and we loved the gorgeous surroundings. Liz was so welcoming and it was lovely to have dinner made for us after a long day of driving. The cottage was cosy and homely and had absolutely everything we needed. Would definitely recommend for both a quick stopover or a longer stay if you need a recharge in nature.

- Kelly (10/5): Outstanding, family friendly fantastic little find A* - What a magical hidden away place. We loved our overnight stay here. Liz the host was awesome so friendly and welcoming. - Jenny (9/5): Rural cottage on a working farm - Spacious cottage. Quiet rural setting. Great for an overnight stop when heading across the Hay plain
Well stocked fridge. Delicious dinner provided at a reasonable cost. Friendly welcome. Would happily stay here again About 15km down an unsealed road to reach the cottage, but it wouldn't be as peaceful and quiet if it wasn't where it was!
- Kara (9/5): See you next time! - Owner was lovely and beautiful surroundings- will be going again.
- Heather766 (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - Beautiful place, great views and the owners very friendly!
- Marilyn (10/5): Exceptional - Host made us very welcome. Dinner prepared for us was delicious, and necessary because it is out of town. Perfect set up for two friends, or two couples, or a family. Peaceful and relaxing on a working farm.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional - What an amazing little gem of a place. We felt like we were being welcomed home by long time friends. The cottage is well set up with everything you could possibly need. After an extremely long day of driving we were also offered a delicious home cooked meal.
When it came time to leave, it was like saying goodbye to family, and we can't wait to come back and visit with you again. ❤️ Not a dislike from us, as we are used to it, but it is out of town a fair way, as described, so be prepared for some dirt road driving.
Again we loved everything about our stay!!
- Graham (9/5): Great place to stay on the Western Plains for a different accomodation experience - Comfy cabin, big breakfast and friendly hosts
- French (10/5): Country hospitality - What a beautiful peaceful farm home stay this was! We stayed in a separate 2 BDR fully furnished and self contained home that felt like a farm stay. The garden was a green oasis surrounded by beautiful trees. Big dark sky great for star gazing!
We especially loved the country's hospitality and the king size comfy bed! Our puppy loved watching the cat and the chickens 😍 The photos don't do it justice!
- Fabienne (10/5): Exceptional - Elizabeth and her family were friendly and generous hosts .
- Wendy (9/5): Road trip! Great farm stay away from town. - We had a great couple of days here - it's out of town and very peaceful. Liz is a fabulous host and really did make us feel welcome - we never felt like we were intruding. Thanks Liz for your hospitality and for the food you provided! Nothing not to like. You're on a working farm and it's wonderful!
- Rod (10/5): Really good - Great farm setting. We ordered the evening meal as we arrived late = best $25 meal I've had!
- Oscar (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Vikki (10/5): Exceptional - All of it Little far from town.
- Bronwen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leica (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was beautifully clean, spacious and well appointed. My dog was allowed inside and was made to feel at home. It was rather out of town but well worth the travel. For an additional 25 dollars dinner amd dessert was provided which was an amazing end to a long day of travel. Well worth the extra effort to go out of town!
- Martin (7/5): Comfortable and clean but 12 km dirt access road caused 2 punctures. - Very quiet and comfortable. The accommodation is very good but be aware the 12km drive off the main road to the property is on very rough dirt road that punctured 2 of our tyres on leaving and we had to spend an extra day in Parkes (after limping there) waiting for replacement tyres from Wagga. Turned out to be a very costly stay.
- Katrina (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was well styled, comfortable and clean. The bonus for us was that we could take our dog. The host was very welcoming to us and our pet.
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic farm stay with everything you could need. Great Host! - The cottage was cozy, with good facilities.
The Host - Liz was also very warm and welcoming.
Liz took the time with my daughter to hand feed a baby lamb, which was the highlight of her stay.
- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable and friendly!
- Kristian (9/5): We're glad we chose the Mascot Cottage to spend the night at. - Cottage was very nice. It was clean (mostly), modern and comfortable. Liz was super - friendly and helpful and the added dinner was super tasty and a nice way to end the day after a fairly long drive. Could have used a clean underneath the toilet seat
- Gail (9/5): After a long day driving Liz and family gave us a warm welcome wonderful dinner very comfortable accommodation and we fo - Just everything. It was like we were visiting family and I really mean that. But if a trek but well worth the drive.
- Goulding (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harlee (10/5): Amazing spot to have a rest on a big drive - Cute accessories to buy also :)
- Cole (9/5): Great, unique location - Lovely place, very clear instructions, very comfortable, well organised. A great place for us to stay and bring our dog with us.
- Kylie (10/5): Exceptional - It was very comfortable and homely
- Mattas (10/5): Exceptional - Felt like a hidden oasis full of greenery
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Luella (10/5): Such a delightful stopover - We were travelling from NSW to home in Adelaide with our two beautiful doggies and came across this cottage as a stop over. Despite the GPS taking us down a wrong dirt lane, we found Mascot Cottage and could not have been more delighted. Beautiful cool garden for the dogs and us. The cottage was so clean and spacious with toiletries and breakfast included.
Liz was amazing having offered a dinner for small extra cost - much recommended - which we ate on the covered deck.
Bed is superbly comfortable and clean. I am an insomniac but slept like a log.
If this is a location that is on your travels you will be very glad to have made the booking. Cannot recommend more highly.
Ps Also some beautiful hand crafted objects for sale. Nothing.
- Margaret (10/5): Overnight - Space Friendly
- David (8/5): Very good - It was a good location
- Tik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maurice (10/5): Something with a difference but all good. - This is the place to stay if you are looking for something out of town. It's brilliant. The host, Liz, offers a standalone cabin where you are on your own, yet you are only 3 metres or so from the homestead. We had a wonderful evening with a wine on the outside deck, coupled with delivery of our evening meal (an extra cost but only $30pp). All good
- Rochelle (10/5): Wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - Amazing property where the kids and dog could run free. Genuinely friendly and caring hosts. The property is a long way out of town. Great for freedom and fun but not very convenient for short stays.
- Benita (10/5): Beautiful. - Beautiful farm stay location with a lovely helpful host family. My only regret is that we didn't schedule more time to fully enjoy the location and everything this lovely cottage had to offer. The family have clearly put a lot of thought and attention to detail into everything about this stay, it was well stocked, clean and welcoming. It was a little bit out of the way of our trip and added some extra travel time. Entirely my own fault for not checking location when booking. Cannot fault Mascot Cottage at all.
- Kara (10/5): Relaxing country getaway - Really nice country getaway, peaceful and quiet. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the property Telstra phone service wasn’t good
- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional - Magically place to watch the stars. The kids loved everything about our stay and so did we.
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb - Very friendly and helpful, we were travelling with our dog and this worked well Dirt road access, we were arriving in the dark
- Dianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joey (9/5): Amazing host. Beautiful location! Kid friendly, Our son especially loved it. -
- Pearl (8/5): Very good - Relaxing place to stay, peaceful countryside location.
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (10/5): The kids and I felt right at home during our stay at the cottage. - Location and surroundings. Liz and the kids. The friendly animals.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Quiet & perfect - It was a beautiful, quiet farm stay. The cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owners are kind and hospitable - we paid extra for a delicious home cooked meal on the night of our arrival. Will definitely stay again. It rained and the roads leading up to the farm were not great. But that won't stop us from visiting again.
- Hardidge (10/5): Peaceful and restful - Very comfortable and clean No problem
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (1/5): Didn't stay as couldn't find the place, just ruins of old building - Nothing couldn't find the place! Couldn't find property as it was not where address stated (ruins of old building tucked back on farm land). Apparently was supposed to get an email with instructions on how to get there but didn't. Patchy phone service so had trouble contacting property until we went back to West Wyalong and was told property was a further 4km further on from address stated. Didn't end up staying at property as didn't want to drive all the way back plus extra kms out of our way. Would never have booked if the correct details for property were on booking.com. Annoyed we were charged full amount for staying and didn'teven find the place!
- Donna (10/5): looking for a tranquil farm stay that nurtures the soul. passing through it was a beautiful surprise to experience a stu - the instant friendly welcome and all the little things were just taken care of. worth every dollar. there was nothing I didn’t like.
- Sieglinde (8/5): Very good - We loved the country hospitality the animals and the environment.
- Christopher (10/5): perfect hosts. lovely stay. - what a hidden little gem. property was very clean and comfortable
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Absolute piece of paradise, a little hard to find but worth it!!
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was beautiful and so homely. The decor was lovely, the bed was huge. It was a home away from home. I was greeted straight away by Elizabeth's smiling face and felt so welcomed. The location was stunning out in the farm with a million stars overhead.
- Mozart (10/5): we will be highly recommending Mascot and if in the area will certainly return - Mascot was a working property a distance out of town. we did not realise it was quite as far and were treated to a wonderful welcome and a very warm cottage upon our arrival and “can I cook you some diner?” could not have been more blessed or asked for more. Liz and family are absolutely delightful hosts. No complaints
- Trevor (8/5): Good stopover with our dog but would be hard to access in wet weather. Lovely sunset from verandah. - Spacious and comfortable. Lovely lawn and garden area for our dog. Heating worked well. Working farm. Quite a rough road to access property. No stove only microwave and bbq was on verandah of main house and not very clean.
- Tony (6/5): A pleasant diversion - Peaceful and quiet. Lovely to experience being on working farm and we were welcome to wander about Hot water dysfunction
- Micaela (10/5): it was a short stay so we couldn’t enjoy the place but the beds were really comfortable and the rooms were very warm -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Very relaxed place to stay. Peaceful and quiet. Ask about the lamb chops! Delicious!
- Laini (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional - We blew a tyre on the unsealed road. The owner drove out and assisted us. She then cooked dinner for us. The following morning, she arranged tyre check in WW. This was exceptional service and kindness and was greatly appreciated. Arrival in daylight should be advised to traveller
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Leanne (10/5): We have a wonderful stay over night along with our 2 dogs. Liz was very welcoming and a super host. - Great selection offered for the continental breakfast. NA
