Guest Reviews
- susan (8/5): Would return on cooler weather - Great local knowledge. Convenience No air conditioning. One fan.It was very humid.
- Tina (10/5): -
- JAN (8/5): Great - Friendliness N/A
- Schindehutte (9/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): - Breakfast was delicious-one of the best I had on this trip. Loved the conversations at breakfast, particularly enjoyable (especially at the end of the season when I was often the only guest).
- Deb L.M. (8/5): - The owners... Father and son.
- Barbara (10/5): A lovely stay in a historic home. - It was a lovely historic home in a central Island location. It was near several excellent restaurants. It was a quiet location.
- Lorna (9/5): Nice B&B with very congenial hosts that had lots to share of the history of the area and great recommendations of th - Classic old home in a great central location.
- Laura (8/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): I can’t imagine there being a better place to stay on PEI. - The house is charming, the location is great (close to restaurants and Cavendish beach), the proprietors are so warm and welcoming. Our kids asked to stay at the house instead of spending the day at the beach!
- Heiko (9/5): Sehr netter Aufenthalt, klassisches Gebäude, hervorragende Lage. - Sehr freundliche und offene Gastgeber, großzügiges Grundstück, nette Terrasse. Alles sehr liebevoll gestaltet.
Sehr gute Lage Cavendish und Strände nur wenige Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt. Hier und da sieht man, dass das Haus etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Nicht weiter schlimm, aber doch sichtbar.
- Paul & Shanti (9/5): Very pleasant stay at a lovely heritage house B&B - Hosts were friendly and accommodating. Pleasant surroundings and lovely back deck. Breakfast was delicious.
- Liza (10/5): Cozy and comfortable. - It's a family home and the hosts are amazing and was flexible with letting us check in. Breakfast was lovely. The rooms were cozy and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay overall!
- Christian (9/5): Well kept inn - Beautiful old house. A lot of cachet. Very pleasant host. Good breakfast. Because it is an old house, there is no sound proofing.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kilmer (9/5): Nice place to stay and visit the north shore area. - Great location. Awesome hosts. Music on the deck at night. Rooms can get quite warm at night, but understandable for a heritage home.
- Julie (10/5): Spent four days on the island; the inn was a great “home base”. - Lovely rooms and grounds, close by main attractions; enjoyable breakfast experience and bonfire
- Susan (9/5): We really enjoyed our week with Johnathan and the many guests we met - Johnathan was an amazing Host..very funny, accommodating and put on an amazing brunch (breakfast) Our room overlooked a busy road that was noisy…due to the heat we kept our window open at night time, although we tried a few things
- Oliver (9/5): Relaxing stay at a perfectly located century-home BnB! - We loved our stay at the New Glasgow Inn! Location was perfect, very central to anything you may want to do in PEI. Staff was great, had some lovely conversations with Jonathan, David and other guests. Highly recommend!
- Brian (9/5): Superb - The host, Jonathon, was fabulous! We had a great stay at the New Glasgow Inn.
- Jennifer (10/5): Our innkeeper was exceptional. He even treated us to music on the patio one night. We loved our stay. - Historic inn, family owned with gracious hosts N/A
- Reesa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): I went to PEI for a magical, exceptional wedding of wonderful people and staying at the Inn largely contributed to the g - Staying here was like staying with good friends. Jonathan, his father and uncle were warm, welcoming, a wealth of information. Other guests were spontaneously friendly and kind. Great atmosphere. Delightful breakfasts with local products, terrific location. I liked everything and hope to return there someday.
- Terry (9/5): We have a lovely time and were able to meet some really great people - I like how spacious it was how close it was to other towns as well as the beautiful view. Johnathan was also incredibly friendly and even bought some gluten free vegan bread for me to have for breakfast since I couldn't have what was being prepared. Nothing really.
- Roger (5/5): Passable - good breakfast no air con
- Sarah (10/5): A very relaxing place to spend a weekend away! - The view was beautiful!! It was a very quiet and relaxing place. The owner was exceptional and made us feel welcomed. Breakfast in the morning was amazing as everything was local products. Will definitely be back again!
- Patricia (10/5): The Inn is beautiful and Jonathan was an excellent host. - Breakfast was Awesome!! Fresh baked bread, pastries, yogurt bar with fresh fruit, cereal, boiled eggs and jelly from Preserve Company. The location was great—close to Cavendish and Charlottetown.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Walter (9/5): Very enjoyable stay with helpful staff! - Charming historical home in a beautiful area. Comfortable room and very friendly and helpful staff. Shower was quite small
- Hans-albert (10/5): we definitely are coming back one day - the best bed and breakfast we ever had , jonathan is a very very nice young man it was a very familiar atmosphere there are absolute no complaints at all
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - The Inn is a lovely old home. The owner was very nice. Breakfast was provided. I enjoyed my stay.
- Donna (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (8/5): Delightful - The inn keeper is a very lovely young man. Great conversations and very helpful. Made a great recommendation for dinner. Great stories about the home itself. The young man needs some help running the B&B. it is a lot of work for one single person alone.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent and staff were very friendly.
- Trevor (8/5): I'd come back again for sure! What a beautiful home. - Fantastic breakfast, friendly and responsive host Facilities are a bit tired still. I get it; you can't fix everything at once! It will get there
- Colleen (8/5): Comfortable and quiet stay… - Good breakfast, great shower, decent wifi, quiet and friendly hosts. I was hoping to get some local tourist tips from the host but he wasn’t that familiar with the local things to see and do. Overall, good value for money.
- Grace (10/5): We would love to come back some day. Loved the Inn. Loved the area. - This is a charming 150 year old house that has been turned into a delightful Inn. Jonathan has taken pains to restore the house to its original glory. The original spruce floors, fireplaces, stair banister, etc. are in evidence. Many of the furnishings are of the period. The grounds are extensive and include a play area for children. A popular golf course is close by. As in many older homes, the shower was small but still worked for us.
- Kaylin (8/5): Good and comfortable stay. Close to points of interest. Clean with lots of character. Good breakfast - Clean rooms. Good breakfast. The themed rooms were a little too much at times (the doll room in particular was creepy)
- Irene (10/5): Thank you so much Jonathan and (Paul)! We had an amazing stay and wonderful adventure in PEI😊 - Jonathan was a great host! We were late checking in but he was considerate to wait on us and even tour around the house and the facilities that we can use. He even recommend places to go and things to do in the Island. The place is very convenient to the famous New Glasgow Lobster Supper and to Cavendish area.
- Vicky (8/5): Great stay in this beautiful historical home. - The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable and the premises beautiful. For breakfast, I'm not a sweet person so some savory options would have been nice, like meats and cheese. I also saw a bit of dust under the bed but overall, the room was fine. I'm really being picky here to give the owners an opportunity to make it perfect. My son would have also loved a pool but I get that that is alot of maintenance.
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - The professionalism of Jonathan, our host, who went out of his way to help us find our missing mobile phone, which we found No issues
- Jacoba (9/5): Very relaxing stay. The host was very welcoming and accommodating and always available to chat - Breakfast had a good variety of healthy, local options. I would have liked a savory option for breakfast
- Henik (9/5): Great management staff and owner - Great location No in room air conditioning
- Diprima (9/5): Superb -
- Ginette (10/5): We loved our stay and we will return to Glasgow Inn when we revisit PEI. - The owner Johnathan was very kind and hospitable. He would ask questions like how we slept (new bed, it was comfortable) and suggested great places to eat or visit.
Breakfast was very nice. We had fresh, local bread daily, homemade jams, best ever! There was a lot of selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and tasty homemade muffins and sweets. We also liked spending time on the beautiful deck and listen to the owner tell stories and play the guitar.
- Likeitblue (9/5): Beautiful inn inside and out - Beautiful inn and surroundings, professional yet full of charm, nice continental breakfast. The inn is within walking distance of the famous lobster supper place in New Glasgow, the fire pit at night was a plus, and no mosquitoes! that was a nice surprise as we suffered in all our other accommodations in PEI including a 4 star resort. The innkeeper is very knowledgeable about the house and very friendly. Wish stayed longer. We three stayed in the Doll suite, the mattresses were not too bad but could be better.
- Patricia (10/5): Wonderful place, close to all the Anne activities. - Beautiful room, lovely breakfast and a wonderful welcome by the host.
- Kerry (8/5): Nice location, wonderful host and good breakfast. Quaint and lovely. - Breakfast was really good...the yogurt with homemade granola and fruit was delicious. Nothing to do with the inn, but the upstairs neighbours were incredibly rude. First night the noise stopped around midnight. The second night it was 5 am. It sounded like they were moving furniture around and then bowling and doing cartwheels. I slept through it (mostly) the 2nd night. My husband has much more patience than me. If I had been awakened like he was, I would have marched upstairs, banged on the door and had a few choice words.
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josh (10/5): Fantastic Bed & Breakfast experience! - The property is a beautiful old building well looked after and managed. The owner is delightful and committed to ensuring the guests have the best possible experience. Great B&B..
- Shelley (10/5): Would definitely consider staying here and recommending to friends - Very comfortable room and stately old mansion. Great breakfast from local bakers and jam makers. Great coffee and service! Beautiful view of the golf course and water on the patio in the morning having coffee. Jonathan extremely helpful and lovely to talk to. Close to everything.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Appreciated the friendly innkeeper and his father! - It was charming. The bathroom was small.
- Paul (10/5): cozy, great hosts Jonathan and Uncle David - great location, pastoral beauty
- Al (4/5): Wouldn't stay again. - View nice, staff friendly, good breakfast No air conditioning, thankfully it was a rainy, cool night.
Seems overpriced compared to similar accommodation.
- Domi (10/5): Lovely place to stay at :) (+ Porcelain dolls) - It was a very special experience, different from any other hotel or bed and breakfast I've stayed at before. It's a historic house, and all the rooms have very peculiar decorations, making it feel like you are in an old film. The breakfast area and terrace are so beautiful! And the breakfast is simple and delicious. Also, the attention from the innkeepers was great, and the rooms are quite large! I would say that maybe the only "bad" comment I could have is that the room in front of ours had a doll decoration, with lots of porcelain dolls on it and they keep all the doors open when the rooms are empty so we would see the dolls every time we would come in and out of the room. My friends and I find porcelain dolls to be a bit scary, so having them right in front of our room was a bit creepy. Is nothing that I can really complain about or that caused us any problems. I just thought I would share in case there is anyone out there afraid of dolls thinking to stay here. Is just 1 room that has dolls, so you could just request to be on a different floor.
- Laina (9/5): A beautiful historic home set in a beautiful landscape! - The location is beautiful and the house is historic and gorgeous! The owner is very friendly and makes great breakfast conversation. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. The owner even picked up a special local breakfast treat for us one morning when we were the only guests! We had a lovely stay. The plumbing was a bit bizarre. The bathroom tap sprayed out in all directions and the shower was tiny and made suspicious noises. Could use a bit of an update overall in terms of plumbing and fixtures.
- Les (10/5): Definitely all should check out this inn if you are in the area - The innkeeper was excellent So nice to talk to Very accommodating Made sure there was gluten free items at breakfast
- Ken (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was very good. It was an opportunity to meet our fellow guests and connect with the host. We enjoyed the historical nature of the property and will try to return soon. Evenings in PEI are quiet and once you return from dinner, there was very little to do in the area. Having a standing "cocktail" hour in the main lounge would be a nice way to provide a social aspect to the stay.
- Todd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (8/5): Host went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable; great conversationalist;prepared special breakfast! - beautiful setting
clean rooms
serene and quiet
host was knowledgeable great location outside city needed some focus for senior guests — hand rails in shower/tubs.
- Audrey (9/5): Superb -
- Duane (9/5): Superb - Loved the breakfast and the ensuing conversations.
- Jamie (8/5): Very good stay with great hospitality - Very cute and quaint inn. The innkeeper Jonathan and his staff were so amazing and accommodating. Breakfast was a great selection and very tasty. Super fast internet made working remotely from the inn very easy. Air conditioning would’ve been nice for a couple hot summer nights where the fan / windows didn’t cut it. I would also recommend updated beds/bed frames. TV would be a nice bonus but not essential :)
- Manliffe (9/5): Warm and generous hospitality -
- Catherine (10/5): Excellent in every way!!! - Everything was excellent. Great communication, excellent service. The Inn is lovely and our room was very comfortable.
- Steve (8/5): We had a good time at the Inn. The innkeeper was very helpful and accommodating. - the breakfast was very tasty and healthy. The location was excellent. The first night our room had an unpleasant odor. We were able to change rooms easily which solved the problem.
- Catherine (9/5): Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable, good location, very well managed. - New Glasgow was a great central location for us on the island to make our way around. Very close to Cavendish and Brackley beaches and about 20 minutes to Charlottetown. You’re also literally right across the little river from New Glasgow Lobster Suppers. ;)
The Inn itself is a large house with themed rooms. We stayed in the Golf room (2 double beds) which had quirky little golf themed decor and facing a golf course in the distance. Our room was very clean. Breakfast was good, with a variety of fresh local bread, jam, fruits, yogurt, and muffins. Self-serve coffee and tea are also available throughout the day. The innkeeper Jonathan was also very kind and accommodating which made our experience all the better. The bathroom in the Golf room was pretty tight but totally understandable, as they needed to fit private bathrooms in all the rooms somehow. If you’re above average in size, you’re going to have a hard time showering.
The entry to the Inn parking lot can be a bit of a challenge the first time (we almost missed it in the dark). The “Inn” sign is a bit small and the driveway entry is also a bit narrow and partially hidden behind bushes and another private driveway depending on which side you’re coming from on the road. I suggest looking up the location on Google maps prior to arriving.
If you hate bugs and spiders, don’t go to PEI countryside in the summer. They’re everywhere outside.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (9/5): Superb -
- Alena (9/5): Superb - The host Jonathan was amazing making us feel like home. The house is like a museum full of artefacts. Breakfast was superb. Will definitely come back. The bathroom in a 2-bed room was very small. It would be appreciated if towels and bedding sheets were not as worn out. Air conditioning would definitely be a bonus.
- Jen (8/5): Very good -
- Kosta (10/5): Absolutely wonderful, exactly what we wanted -
- Zhengang (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (9/5): Historic B&B in a central location with great breakfast! - The breakfast was delicious- lots of local fresh options! The mattresses were kinda uncomfortable.
- Cristina (10/5): felt like home - beautiful home with beautiful garden and activities inside and outside nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location, nice person and nice music. Nice food.nice feeling. Thanks Johnathan. The bath space is a little small.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - I thought the breakfast was very nice! I liked the variety of food offered.
- Eugene (9/5): Superb -
- Leslie (7/5): Stay for the friendly host and great location, not for the rooms - Johnathan was charming and wonderful. he went out if his way to pick up gluten free bread and muffins, and was just nice to talk with. Location was great! Property needs updating. Our room had peeling wallpaper and an exposed wire. couldn’t hang clothing because the wardrobe was full of extra linens. AC would be helpful as the room was stuffy but other patrons were noisy late at night in the parking lot.
- Sohan (10/5): Lovely location, with may amenities nearby. - Continental breakfast
- Meghan (10/5): quaint lodging and friendly owners - gorgeous views! nothing
- Eilleen (10/5): Exceptional - The inn and staff made us feel very welcome. Not really anything to complain about when coffee is always available!
- June (9/5): The Glasgow inn is a gem, and it met all of my expectations. - This inn is a gem if you are into historic buildings. The inn (according the Jonathan the innkeeper) is 180 years old, and he is the 4th or 5th generation owner. Mr. Jonathan will tell you all about the inn's connection to the novelist Lucy Montgomery. The inn had all sorts of interesting nooks and grannies for the kids to discover. While the kids complained about the TV not working, but they were quickly dispatched to the awesome toy house and play structure in the yard.
- Gabriel (9/5): Very nice place to stay near Cavendish. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip in PIE. - The host, the cleanliness and the very friendly/casual aspect of the place in general. The breakfast was light but very good with a lot of fresh fruits which were really appreciated :) If I had to find something on the negative side I would mention the fact that two double beds would definitely be better for the price (instead of two single beds) but we knew all of this when booking so… we knew what we were going for.
- Joshy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jon (7/5): We enjoyed the quiet location and visiting with the hosts. - The sour dough bread was great.
We also liked the fruit and yoghurt. The kids room beds were a little uncomfy.
- Amanda (7/5): Beautiful place to stay, we would certainly stay again. - Inn keeper was amazing!! The inn was well kept and clean. Patio was a nice touch, we enjoyed sitting out there playing games. The history of the property was interesting and a great breakfast story! Close to the beaches, Anne of Green Gables and great restaurants. No air conditioning.
- L (10/5): Johnathan, the manager, made us feel like we were at home. - Historic building that had a lot of features that made our stay enjoyable. Excellent internet speed! Great recommendations for restaurants in the area.
- Dongdong (9/5): A grate home-like inn. Very nice owner. - The owner is a very nice guy. He’s considerate and very helpful.
- Tammy (10/5): Best B&B on the Island!! - Johnathan was the perfect host. Everything was better than expected. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was incredible- all homemade breads and baked items. We’ll be back!
- Viorel (10/5): Exceptional -
