Guest Reviews
- Ruth (10/5): Fantastic. Comfortable - The location was great. Close to the person I was visiting. A really good homemade breakfast. Yogurt, granola, fresh baked muffins. The host is an interesting person. Had a good visit with her and her dog. The room was fine. I was the only one staying there, so had the bathroom to myself. It was clean. I hope to stay there again. Can you do something about the rain?
- Matt (5/5): It’s comfortable and quiet but I wouldn’t stay there again - It’s quiet on a very relaxed lake When I first got there the room wasn’t clean there was still dirty towels in the basket from the previous quest and the toilet sink and shower is 5 feet from the bed and not in a separate room either
- Brenda (7/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Certainly a memorable one - A quiet beautiful location by the lake. Our room was clean. The bed was nice and firm (something I personally prefer). The bathroom was lovely and clean as well.
We had a beautiful lake view from the room. Joanne made us muffins and was more than happy to cater to our dietary restrictions.
When discussing our plan for a walk in the morning, she offered we could take her dog, too. We were more than happy to bring Merlin along! We had a lovely time, however, I think bringing up political topics at breakfast was perhaps not the best idea. Especially since as a guest service you will bring in people from all kinds of backgrounds - perhaps those that don't align with your own views.
- Yangke (10/5): - Location is great. Bed is comfortable. Host is very friendly. Made me delicious breakfast everyday
- Alex (10/5): -
- Langille (10/5): Picturesque lake front home with cozy fireplace. - Welcoming and picturesque front home. Exceptional views, cosy fireplace and homemade granola and muffins for breakfast! That I couldn't have stayed longer
- David (7/5): Met my needs - Location Ordinary
- Klar (3/5): - Joanne was friendly. The house was cluttered and unclean. The "bathroom" was not totally enclosed. The towels were damp, the bed was hard and more a futon than a proper mattress. The whole property was overgrown and neglected.
- Catherine Anne (7/5): - The B&B is right on the lovely Glen Lake. After gazing at it during breakfast, I had to go for a swim. It was refreshing and rejuvenating. The Galloping Goose trail is right outside, so bring your walking shoes or bikes.
The breakfast was also lovely: homemade granola, seasonal fruit salad, and muffins, along with Avalon organic milk for the coffee or tea, and yoghurt. A number of ingredients came right from the property: blackberries, grapes, and the eggs for the muffins. Talk about locally sourced!
The shower is strong and the bathroom floor, heated. There’s a full length mirror (very helpful in getting ready for the wedding). The common area was cluttered and the outside rough.
If you book the room with the bathroom, just be aware that it is in the bedroom with a half wall separating it from the bed.

- Shari (1/5): This establishment was very unprofessional. There too many issues to list. - Be very wary and read the reviews from the LOWEST scores first. They are all true. Be very wary and read the reviews from the LOWEST scores first. They are all true!
- Marcel (8/5): - Slept in a beautiful room from Al Howie. Nothing
Rien
- Leigh (8/5): Lovely lake view near Langford - The breakfast was very tasty. The B n B was well located. The conversations were interesting during breakfast. The room was lovely and had an excellent view of Glen Lake.
- Patti (10/5): We enjoyed the whole experience and would love to return in future. - The location was beautiful! Joanne was so kind and overall a very friendly and interesting person to talk to.
- Jane (8/5): Our host was very kind and sweet to our three year old traveling companion who was somewhat restless - The location was perfect for our needs. If one was cycling the Galloping Goose trail I don't think one could find a more convenient stop. Breakfast was good. Would have been nice to have access to the fridge. Mind you, we didn't ask!
- Gord (8/5): very enjoyable good host -
- Kristin (10/5): I will return. - Breakfast was awesome. It was a home away from home.
- Amanda (3/5): Read the description and more. Wayy too expensive - The breakfast and the dog It was stinky when we first parked. There was no violin like shown in the photos. Weird energy as well and a very Cluttered space. Too expensive for what it was.
- Brian (5/5): A convient and well placed facility along a popular bike trail. - Excellent location overlooking a lovely lake and adjacent to the Galloping Goose bike trail. It is a short walk to a nice mall for evening meal. The host is very accommodating. A variety of rooms are available for those needing a variety of accommodations. The grounds are in need of upkeep and the main room is quite cluttered. The deck overlooking the lake needs cleaning and the lawn furniture is dated. As a biker or backpackers hostel it fits the bill but lacks the charm and attention to detail of many B&B’s that I have visited in the past.
- Michael (3/5): Someone screwed up with the booking and I suffered the consequences. I deserve a refund. - Location was nice but a long way from city centre. The hostess was pleasant . The B&B was overbooked and I had to sleep on the sofa in the living room. I was very tired after a long day so I suggested it since there was no where else to go.
- Robert (10/5): We had an emergency, and our plans change last minute. The property manager was very good, accommodating us very well. -
- Fernando (9/5): Great! Would recommend - Amazing Host! Little bit expensive for our budget
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Koko (10/5): Exceptional - Family of two toddlers.
All of us loved this cosy lovely place💞
Lake view is amazing from king size bedroom.
We will be back!Thank you Joanne!
- Steve (2/5): Very poor -
- Gavin (10/5): Awesome lady. Such a great vibe. - Breakfast was great. The view of the lake breathtaking.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Jeffries (8/5): Staying at the BandB added to our overall good time -
- Darlene (1/5): It was traumatizing. I have pictures if you need them but that does not describe the smell or the poor dog chained to th - The lady was very nice but a little scattered I hate to have to complain but this place is not fit to be a rental. We only stayed one out of three nights and that was because we were too tired and had no choice. Has anyone ever walked into this place to do an inspection? If you have it in your website as a possibility you should have done an actual visit. The pictures are far from accurate. We were stunned and in shock.
- Kelly (4/5): Very unsatisfactory. - Location was great. Breakfast was good. The host was hospitable. We had a great conversation. Less dog hair in the house. Cleanliness could be better. I should have investigated if there was animals in the house, my fault. The yard was not cared for at all. She had people in tents in the yard.😂 The lake is beautiful but if you can’t sit outside to enjoy it , that’s sad. Cutting grass and trimming trees to walk around would be enjoyable.
Sorry, I know my friends would kill me if I recommended this place.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful view from the window and friendly owner Breakfast
- William (9/5): Comfortable in every way. - Excellent facilities, personable host, excellent water view.Breakfast was great and just what was needed to start the day.
- Jewell (10/5): Intetesting stay on the lake in BC, canada. - Joanne was a delight! She is amazingly talented. She was the delight of staying there. We grabbed the room at the last minute for another couple traveling with us. She welcomed us in for coffee when we picked them up. The price was at the last minute, so booking app prices are a bit more. It's not her fault. Busy holiday weekend.
- Bea (6/5): Pleasant - Nice Lake and kind host. Too expensive for facilities, small bedroom with terrible bed. No fridge to use, mess everywhere in the house, smell of dog. Could not lock room from outside.
- Temple (1/5): its not a bed and breakfast, its just a woman who is trying to make $ renting out her empty rooms - First off, getting to the location was easy but was through a run down housing development. Then the place was gated but not secure and was overgrown bushes and trees. Walking into the residential house the host was not there but a barking big dog was. At first glance there was clutter everywhere. Each step had a stuffed animal on the stairs. The front room was crowded with chairs, couches and other furniture. Going into the dining space was cluttered with furniture and plants and there was spiderwebs everywhere. The room upstairs was less cluttered and once inside you can lock the door but if you left for any reason there was no way to lock your door/no key to keep your belongings safe. I did not feel safe there so I decided to leave and find cleaner safer accomodations.
- Joan (8/5): Very good - Yummy muffins, fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, and great coffee!
- Anders (9/5): Lovely location with a lovely caretaker. - That it felt homey. The hot tub wasn’t available.
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (9/5): Superb - Rooms were clean and tidy .host was very nice
- Donald (10/5): Joanne is such an amazing host and person. We loved her stories and her background that she shared. - The breakfast that Joanne prepared was fantastic. She went out earlier and picked fresh blueberries for our fruit salad plus she made muffins for us...right out of the oven. So good. Then there was also granola and yogurt. So healthy. She has 6 chickens also, and I was just waiting for her to say how fresh the omelet was....but there was no eggs this a.m. Cannot think of anything.
- Campbell (7/5): Excellent location, lake view, hospitality, and breakfast. Rustic & quaint. - Host was lovely, interesting, and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent, loved the homemade granola (except the thyme? in it), loved the fresh berries and yogurt, and loved the fresh muffins. Host was very happy to accommodate a limited wheat/dairy diet and even made almond milk! Coffee was decent and did the job, I'm just used to making mine a bit fancier at home. Amazing view from my room and breakfast table, right over the lake. Loved the flexibility of arriving and departing late as I was cycling in/out. It was a great location for breaking up my cycle trip from Swartz Bay to Leechtown and back on the Galloping Goose trail. I felt the bedding should be better - cleaner and newer looking and feeling. It was discoloured and quite pilly. Felt the cost was quite high for the quality of room/bedding. The bathroom wasn't in the room as I understood from the posting, and therefore I wasn't clear on if I was sharing it with others. Bathroom had a nice soaker tub, but jets quite loud so didn't use as I didn't want to disturb other guests. House is quite cluttered, didn't seem very clean, and has a dog. Dog was very nice, but shed quite a bit and I'm not really a dog person.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): The stay was a great experience. - I enjoyed the view from the bedroom window in the morning. A little too cold for my likings indoors
- Shona (7/5): Good -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Debra (4/5): Great host! Accommodations not so great! - It was on Glen Lake- super peaceful & serene. The view of the lake while laying in bed was superb! The host JoAnn was super interesting, very kind, & accommodating. Breakfast was home cooked muffins, homemade granola, and yogurt, fresh fruit, with coffee or tea. Very good. The outside grounds were terribly unkept. House was Cluttered and not very clean. More like a hostel that would have been OK for a 20 year old! It was more like staying in someone’s house you didn’t know than a bed & breakfast. Dock was in disrepair; deck had furniture that wasn’t very clean with an old broken refrigerator on the deck when we arrived. By the time we left, it was gone! The king room was so small you could barely move around in it; too much furniture in a small space! The bathroom was actually in the bedroom with a knee wall separating part of it so that when you were sitting on the toilet, you could talk to the person in bed! No privacy! The king bed was 2 foam mattresses put together and not very comfortable. While JoAnn was great, the property wasn’t. We would not stay here again.
- Birgit (1/5): Bad -
- Warren (6/5): Ok if nothing else is available - Great location and view Poor communication
Used partial bar of soap in bathroom
No parking available, had to park down the street in residential permit only location without a permit
- Majid (8/5): Very good -
- Margaret (1/5): Maybe it used to be nice? - The online photos are relatively appealing, but are not a reality on site. The bathroom looked clean, but nowhere else. It seems like a hoarders home desperate for spare income.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Walter (10/5): on galloping goose trail and on lake. - on Glenn lake Joanne had a great deal of her life exposed in her kitchen, living area
- Karen (3/5): Do Not stay here. - location. quiet, on galloping goose trail Too many to list. Top ones.unfriendly upon arrival. we had to insist on a room key. wasn’t going to give us one. place was very unkempt and unclean. more like a low grade hostel. kitchen was a disaster. no amenities such as a kettle in the room. No tv and breakfast was literally yogurt , granola and fruit. no trying yo make you feel welcome- felt like we were a total impositions price is outrageous for this venue.
- Tino (7/5): It was a very relaxing stay - The location on the lake was wonderful. Host had a paddle boat we could use. Host made very tasty muffins and yogart and granola for breakfast. The house location was perfect for using the Galloping Goose trail.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- C (7/5): Good -
- Shannon (1/5): the worst - The owner was incredibly rude, I was an hour late to destination. Instead of showing up at 2:00pm. I arrived at 3:00pm..I was lost and had a dead phone .. she was extremely passive aggressive. Her dog was constantly ignored and yelping. Her floors were filthy . Junk everywhere. ( paint cans , tripping hazards everywhere , books all over the couch of common area ) And breakfast was so late we had too leave . $200.+ for filth and rudeness. - David (5/5): Wish her well! - Good view of lake. Less clutter.
- Mara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theresa (8/5): Cycle Inn is the perfect place for Galloping Goose riders! - Lovely homemade fresh and warm muffins. Friendly host, good breakfast conversation. Lovely view of the lake from our bedroom window. Peaceful location. Excellent location as it was right on the Galloping Goose bike trail where you can ride for hours. Close to downtown Victoria by car (or bike). Take in the city sites and then return to a very peaceful setting by the lake.
- Ainemcl (6/5): Very expensive for what is was! - beautiful location, right on the lake. Friendly welcoming. bed was comfortable We had to leave first thing in the morning, approx 6am so we did not get breakfast, or even a little take away breakfast. the rooms were soooo hot, a fan would have made such a difference.
