- Smittenaar (10/5): Gezellige, knusse accomodatie van alle gemakken voorzien dichtbij centrum van Brugge. - Super fijne hostess! Daarnaast is de accomodatie erg knus en sfeervol. De locatie tot het centrum is ook super fijn. Echt een super plekje voor een gezellig weekendje in Brugge. Dankjewel Linda voor de goeie zorgen en het verblijf. -
- Sonya (9/5): - The location, the welcome, the sofa beds were super comfy. It had a lovely atmosphere in a historical building, near the canal. The only minor thing that could have improved our stay was some milk for the coffee and a working TV. We think the batteries needed changing.
Tutto ok
- Sheldon (10/5): Perfect stay in a beautiful property. - We absolutely loved our stay and the property was just perfect for our needs. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming and we felt really at home and comfortable. It is situated in a perfect place to explore Brugge. We really hope to return again soon.
- Federico (10/5): - La arquitectura de la casa , muy antigua , 400 años, pero muy bien conservados , cada detalle pensado, la comodidad de la habitación , la decoración , la hospitalidad y buena onda de la anfitriona, muy bueno todo !!!!
- Debby (10/5): -
- Brian (10/5): Great family stay - Nice room for families Nothing
- tracy (10/5): Would recommend for a central location stay - Lovely apartment in great location with very friendly owner. Lots of options for beds and the honesty bar in the room was handy Nothing
- sharon (9/5): - Super sweet apartment on the top floor/attic of a small cafe. Plenty of room for everyone, since there are 2 sleeping sofas and a 'vlieringbed' besides the regular bed. The host provides coffee, tea and sodas. Comfortable shower. Be aware that you have to climb 2 pretty steep stairs!!
- Joe (10/5): Amazing place, lovely hosts 10/10 - Awesome place with lovely people, couldn’t be improved on 10/10! We stayed with our 3 children 10,10,7 multiple options for pullout beds etc. Kids loved the games and mini bar. Really well designed with a lovely finish Nothing
- James (7/5): Great location but to much light coming in from ceiling windo - Location Stairs and a small calling window
- niccolai (8/5): -
- Stephanie (9/5): -
- Veneruso (7/5): - Ottima la posizione I divani letto da migliorare, coperte piccole e cuscini scadenti, peccato anche per il bar chiuso alle 22
- Wesley (10/5): Amazing. If I go to Brugge again, I will stay here. 100% - The location and the bar below was awesome. Linda was an excellent host. The place was very clean. I liked everything so there was nothing I didn’t like.
- Sonia (10/5): -
- Annie (10/5): Lovely hosts, great location and spacious place. - Lots of bed options. Exciting secret room up a ladder with a mattress on the platform which was great for the kids. Two sofa bed options. One double bed for us!
- Michael (10/5): -
- Stefan (8/5): -
- Amy (8/5): -
- Mark (9/5): A very pleasant surprise - Somewhat quirky and different The stairs are very steep indeed
- Josh (10/5): Beautiful, quiet place to wind down after seeing the sites - Beautiful room in a great location. It is quiet and away from the noise of the center of town, but close enough to walk to everything you want to see. The hosts are extremely responsive. Nothing. This is an amazing property.
- Concepción (8/5): -
- Joseph (10/5): outstanding - My family of 5 (kids 16,14,11) stayed at the Butterfly for two nights and absolutely loved it. Yes the stairs were a little steep but that added to the charm of the place. Perfect location and the hosts were amazing, helpful, kind and accommodating. We hope to stay there again. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - So cool, the room is the top floor of a historical building and you're right in the middle of this amazing city. Absolutely loved it and the property was very nice to boot. Great host. A+ experience
- Marcel (9/5): Amazing! - Clean and very cozy. The hostess was very friendly and made us a real nice breakfast.
- Jana (9/5): A very special Appartment. Designed with taste and creativity. Hosts were very polite and respectful. Comfy matraces - it was very cosy Too steep for older people.
- Evgeny (10/5): Exceptional - Nice cozy apartment just under the roof in historical part of fantastic town. Very friendly and responsible owners will make stay like home. Stairs to the room is disaster but this this the reason why you come to Brugge.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Elaine (10/5): The quirky space was welcoming, comfortable, and it delighted us - but watch your step! - The location is very centralized. The owners met us at the door and were very welcoming. They even insisted on helping us tote our luggage to the room. When we departed, they helped us call for a taxi. The beds were comfortable. The small refrigerator had samples of local beer for purchase. The butterfly embroidered on the linens and cloths was a lovely touch. Two of our family members bumped their head on exposed wooden beams which cross the space. The steps of the ladder to the loft really hurt the bare feet of those needing loft access. The stairs are very sleep and shallow to access the space.
- Carrie (10/5): Very special and unique accommodations - This is a very special place due to the cool aesthetics, wonderful and helpful hosts, comfortable beds and pillows, and exceptional location (central yet quiet). It’s obvious how much care and attention was put into creating these wonderful accommodations. We very much hope to return some day.
- Darren (9/5): Great stay - One room, one double bed and two double sofa beds and another mattress on a mezzanine but tall ladder climb to get to that. All very comfortable. Very clean, nice shower, lovely character room. Location and host great. All good, but just be aware that the stairs are narrow and only suitable for the able bodied
- Arthur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hodas (10/5): If I could rate this place 10 stars I would. Our hosts were the most wonderful kind people ever. - This place was absolutely amazing. Perfect location, next to a bus stop and a quick walk to everything. The apartment is a perfect stay for friends and SO cute. Love the bar below the apartment and the hosts ARE THE MOST AMAZING HUMANS EVER.
- Jiaqi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Loved our time here, recommended if you don’t struggle with mobility to get up the stairs - Good location, nice size for a family of 4 really liked the decor and feel of the place. Only a 5 min walk into the market square. The stairs are steep but a quirky side to the property that we like. Part of living in a 400 year old building.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - It is a great location and a very charming room. Very comfortable.
- Robyn (10/5): Loved our stay at the Butterfly and would definitely recommend. - The Butterfly was hands down one of the coolest and most unique places we've ever stayed. It was perfect for our family of four and we all loved the exposed beams, ladder to the loft and comfortable amenities throughout the space. It was a great bonus that the owners also have a bar downstairs with an amazing beer menu. We were able to enjoy some delicious drinks mere steps away from our room at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The location is also ideal in that it's just a few minutes walk to the main square, but far enough away from the busy center that it didn't feel loud or crowded.
- Salome (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you Linda ❤️ We are very satisfied ❤️
- Lee (9/5): Perfect for the centre, far enough away to be quiet (even though the property is above a bar - promise you can’t hear it - So beautiful & very clean. The pull down beds were ok, comfy’ish but a bit creaky. The shower was amazing!
The bed at the top via a step ladder would be wonderful for kids or younger people, such a pretty quirky property. The stairs were quite steep to get to the room - but worth it.
- Val (10/5): Our favorite apartment we’ve ever rented! - The location, apartment and owners were incredible! So welcoming. The air conditioning worked perfectly even to American standards. Highly recommend! Just wish there was an iron or steamer. As mentioned in other reviews, the stairs are very steep but not an issue for us.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Excellent location, good size room, clean and the hosts helped to the maximum with everything - Breakfast not included but we were able to get breakfast a short distance walk away as it was very close to the city centre. Very clean, comfortable beds and the apartment was big enough for a family of five. Stairs were a little difficult to manage. Car parking is not easy in the centre of town.
- Maximiliano (9/5): Superb - Super cozy place WiFi was quite weak. Rest was excellent
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts were amazing! Sweet and friendly folks!
- Bill (10/5): Fantastic home base that matches the charm of this lovely city - Great location and tons of charm. The hosts have done a fantastic job making this apartment comfortable and modern feeling without diminishing the charm of the historic structure. The location was fantastic for exploring the city but quiet enough to escape crowds. My children loved the loft space. We would certainly stay again if we are lucky enough to return!
- Kathryn (10/5): Wonderful! - We had a wonderful stay at Butterfly and highly recommend it! It was all wonderful!
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, lovely big room for a family, coffee, water and mini bar available were really useful. Host was very helpful and friendly.
- Dufek (9/5): super place - Beautiful stylish attic room in a perfect location near the center. Kind and accommodating hosts. I can recommend it.
- Henrietta (10/5): Characterful room in great location with lovely hosts - Location great, quiet but close to centre. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Room was full of character and in an historic building.
- Esther (10/5): Very cute and cosy room pretty close to center. - Our kids said it's the best family room we ever stayed at! Nice cosy room with a character. We loved setup and decor, including loft bed. There are 4 queen beds to choose from, so plenty of space even for a larger family. Nespresso machine and kettle for tea, town maps available, hosts gave us recommendations for places to eat. We liked everything, but it's useful to know, that it's a narrow winding staircase up, so could be hard to walk up for someone older or not in a good shape (was totally fine for us) and getting the luggage up isn't easy (but hosts offered to help)
- Rebeca (10/5): Owner was very nice. Excellent standing. Bed was very comfortable. The stairs are very steep going up to the room, would - Charming room, located within walking distance of the downtown area.
- Joe (10/5): Hosts were great and the place was awesome, I would highly recommend it and would probably stay here again in the future - The hosts were lovely and very accommodating, they had a great bar below the room, it was super close the the centre square in Bruges. Great facilities and overall just a great experience, I would definitely stay there again
- Jackie (10/5): Excellent property for short stay in Brugge - Lovely hosts who are very helpful. The room has a lot of charm and character. Great location - short walk to attractions. Also easy to access from Brugge train station.
- Catherine (9/5): Cute little place. Excellent location - Cute apartment with lots of charm. Steep stairs so pack light! But the hosts are super helpful! It could use a bit more lights. Needed another shelf by the sink.
- Fourie (10/5): Exceptional - Close to restaurants and the room was beautiful. My daughter loved the loft bed, but there is also a sleeper couch in the room if you don't want to climb the ladder to the loft. Excellent hosts and location is close to a lot of main attractions Nothing
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional - Location 5 min walk from main square N/a
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nick (10/5): Beautiful accommodation. - Beautiful accommodation very close to the centre.
Very hospitable hosts who made us very welcome.
Situated above a lovely bar. Will definitely return.
- Katia (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing room if you like places with unique historical atmosphere! Perfect location and very hospitable owners! We loved our weekend there!
- Daniil (10/5): Wonderful - Location is great almost in the epicenter of events but without crowds under windows. The hosts are wonderful couple. Totally recommend the hotel!
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, friendly owner, very neat apartment
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, amazing rooms, great value for money wouldnt hesitate in booking again
- Juliette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chopra (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment is newly renovated and extremely well done... No detail has been spared! The owners clearly put a lot of thought and attention to detail into every aspect. They are very friendly and have a great little pub right down the staircase which is great for a late night beer after a long day of sightseeing!
Higly recommend booking your stay at Butterfly... We were sad to have to leave. I like to sleep with a fan/air flow... So would be great to add a ceiling fan or oscillating fan for those like me. Minor gripe...
- J.h. (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Excellent - Amazing for a family. Great pub downstairs. Can’t praise the place and hosts enough. Just book it. Parking is a 5 minute walk away (about £13 a night). Just go to the underground car park. It’s easy enough and not an issue.
- Marcela (10/5): Beautiful place, very nice people -
- Kaitlyn (5/5): Passable - The location was central and was easy to get around the city. The room was large and able to accommodate 4 people. The bathroom facilities were clean and super modern. It is NOT bed a breakfast. No matter what the site says she does not include breakfast. There is no on site parking even though the site says there is. The beds were old and uncomfortable and it was hot a fan would have been nice to move air. This is place should not be called a B&B. The family suite were up some very little stairs that are pictured.
- Gail (9/5): Perfect stay in quirky lodgings - Beautifully presented and the hosts were really lovely. Quirky accommodation was fun for my kids and I loved the shower.
- Christopher (9/5): A very quirky B&B in an excellent location - Linda and Marnix are lovely hosts, and the vibe and decor of the room and downstairs bar is very unique (including a 400 year old staircase!)! Location is in walking distance of all the main attractions. I'd say the bed situation work best for a family with small children, but we still made it work as five adults. Also the exposed beams are a bit of hazard - have to be very careful not to bang your head!
- Pavlina (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great stay at the Butterfly .
It is located in the city centre of Bruges, close to the main square .
Beautiful place with great future.
- Leanne (9/5): Superb - Absolutely beautiful stay. Cannot fault a thing.
- Nathalie (7/5): Not for everyone, not for every family - beware - Charm and character
Tastefully decorated
Well located
Great shower Only 1 bed, nice and large but not very comfortable
Additional small double sofa bed - noisy, not very comfortable
High placed "loft" futon mattress bed, accessible by ladder access only, approx 10 rungs
Access to bedroom via 400 year old very steep stairs
TV too small to watch comfortably from its' tucked away location
Toilet in the room, separated by sliding door only - not isolated from the rest of the group
No local information available in the room
- Ellen (8/5): Very good -
- Domenico (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erika (10/5): Enchanting place to stay! - The Butterfly was a very unique and beautiful place to stay. A nice blend of modern renovations coupled with charming old architecture made for an enchanting and comfortable experience befitting a visit to the gorgeous medieval town of Brugge. The best “feature” of this place was its owners who were so incredibly kind, warm, and responsive to any need we had.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Yoav (9/5): Charming renovated upper floor in old house, makes for a fitting atmosphere during a visit to Bruges - Excellent location, quaint renovated attic room with loft. Owners very helpful and friendly. Bed could have been more comfortable: seemed our heads were lower than our feet. Auromatic lights in bathroom can be brutal when one wakes up in the night to use the toilet. My wife banged her head on one of the exposed beams near the bed.
- Bas (9/5): Superb - Linda is a great Host, you Sence the medeaval time’s where Brugges decades from. We had a lovely time at their place. Would recommended to drink a picnic at their bar!
- Bernard (8/5): Very good -
- Yizhar (10/5): A pearl - will ne happy to return - A special place, lovely hosts who did everything to make us feel comfortable, excellent communication, a very special apartment. Equipped and comfortable in an ancient space. Quiet area in a short walk to the city center. It was spacious and comfortable for a family of 5.
Many thanks to Linda and Marnix for hosting us so nicely and for all your help.
- Jenny (9/5): A fun, historic, comfortable stay for our family - Great location, close enough to walk downtown, but far enough it's not too loud. Only a few paces to the canals. Family room is fun! Kids loved the loft. For those looking at the photos and wondering how it works, the stairs can be moved to the loft area. It blocks the front door a bit (which is why it's stored to the side) but actually you can still go through the front door. Also, there is a little gate that closes at the ladder area so little kiddos won't fall. Plenty of room to sleep (2 in loft, 2 in sofa bed, 2 in queen/double bed) so if you are less than 6 people, there are a lot of options for differing comfort levels. Nice modern bathroom. Very friendly hosts. We parked in the main underground lot for Bruges and took a free shuttle that drops you off a block away. In the same plaza as shuttle drop are two great breakfast places, one plant-based and one of the few places to get "English breakfast," so great for the varied palates of our family. The stairs are steep but awesomely historic. Like everything in a historic place, please use your brain and not expect the same safety features as in the US. Wifi is pretty good (my husband was able to work), but spotty. Luckily, the best place to use it was in the sitting area of the place (but not the bed 5 feet away). Overall, highly recommend. I don't expect or even want A/C given this is a historic building, but a fan would be great. Otherwise, you have to keep the windows wide open, and the alleyways of Bruges are narrow and lined with stone buildings so sound does bounce a bit.
- Jeanette (8/5): A quirky historic apartment in a great central location. - Butterfly in Bruges is a wonderful place to stay in a very nice central location right near the canals. It’s only 200 metres walking from the Jan Van Eyck square and about a 10 min walk into the main part of the city- Markt (Market Square). The accommodation has been beautifully and sympathetically renovated to feature the centuries old timber beams, but has modern automatic lighting in both the walk-in shower and toilet. The apartment is spacious and very clean with a comfortable large double bed. There was only two of us so we had plenty of room. The owners - Linda and Marnix - are warm and welcoming people who were more than happy to provide advice and have a chat. We had a very pleasant stay. It was extremely hot during our stay (above 32oC each day) and the room did get very warm. A fan would have been useful as the only way to cool the room was to leave the two small windows open overnight. A small fridge in the room would also have been useful to keep drinks cool. Although a quirky apartment with charm, the windows are not double glazed (due to being protected as historical), so you can hear the cars passing. Additionally, the two sets of stairs to access the apartment are very steep. The top set is a 400 year old spiral staircase with narrow footfalls, which is not for the faint of heart! We needed to get Marnix to carry our suitcase to the room as we would not have managed to get them up there otherwise.
