Guest Reviews
- Shelley (9/5): Beautiful place for a short stay, very friendly hosts, and very comfortable. - Was a beautiful, peaceful spot. Nice place to walk, close to a beach access.Hosts were so friendly, communicative, and knowledgeable of the area. If I had one thing to say it would be that access from the patio would have been nicer if it was a door with your own keypad access so you could lock your door to the communal area and access suite that way but it was safe and secure.
- Elli (10/5): -
- lindsy (9/5): - Good tasty breakfast
- Jon (10/5): - Lovely property by the river in a quiet location not far from Castlegar. Room was exceptional and the include breakfast was very good.
- David (10/5): -
- Barry (10/5): Great experience - Beautiful, comfortable, convenient. Friendly hosts!
What more can we say! NA
- Milan (10/5): A restful stay with a great breakfast - A beautiful, spacious home close near Columbia river.
- Valerie (10/5): I would highly recommend this B&B as a perfect getaway for several days or one night. - We were so well received by our host and made to feel at home. Every aspect of our stay was lovely: room, deck, comfy bed, breakfast, conversation and such warm hospitality. The home and grounds are inviting and we were sorry to be short of time to explore the property.
- Jessica (10/5): - Very friendly hosts and their 2 well trained dogs were a treat to meet. The space was well maintained and clean, comfortable and quiet.
Shower was really enjoyable, seat with jets felt great on my tired shoulders.
- Robert (9/5): - Great breakfast and friendly hosts
- Michael (10/5): If you find yourself in Castlegar this is a must stay! - Wonderful hosts in every way. We particularly appreciated Mark’s beautifully kept gardens and Mirja’s amazing artwork, comfortable bed, delicious breakfasts and good conversation. Nearby mountain bike trails on top of all that and a private beach on the river to cool off afterwards!
- Arnold (9/5): - Sehr nette und aufgeschlossene Gastgeber.
Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Haus im Grünen.
Schöner Garten. Dauergeräusch von Fabrik auf der anderen Flußseite.
- Anne (9/5): A great escape in a beautiful small town in the Kootenays - Beautiful place for a visit to a really striking part of BC. This B&B is well worth the visit: a wonderful way to treat yourself while on vacation! The breakfast was very light and at the same time hearty, and was just perfect in terms of size and flavour. The hosts are lovely, and made us feel really at home. Really one of the nicest stays we've had in such a long time.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Hosts were wonderful. Facilities were very comfortable. Riverside was not very esthetic with a lumber mill across the river. We might have spent more time by the river if that wasn’t the case.
- Maria (10/5): The best in Castlegar! - A beautiful room with a spa bathroom and balcony. The hosts were lovely and very personable. Everything was great.
- Madelaine (10/5): Welcoming, Cozy, and Relaxing - The hosts were more than accommodating and welcoming. My partner and I were sorry we only had the one night stay. From the greeting at the door, the cozy room and bed, to the quick breakfast before we headed out - we were blown away. Highly recommend all those considering to book your stay in Castlegar here.
- Anthony (10/5): Would stay again - Very quiet. Nice breakfast. Good conversation. It was all good.
- Kurt (10/5): What a memorable stay and we can guarantee you will not be disappointed. - We were two weary road warriors who pulled into Windborne B&B to find an idyllic respite from the long and winding road. Marc greeted us with a large smile and a friendly welcome and we felt that we had found a home away from home. Our room, with bath, was most comfortable and we were able to follow a path down to the mighty Columbia River for even more relaxation. Mirja soon appeared with two sweet dogs and our day was complete, as we both were missing our pup. After a wonderful and restful sleep, breakfast was delicious and the morning conversation was full of great stories and good laughs.
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (8/5): A lovely home, plenty of room, friendly hosts, good dinner suggestion for local dining. - House was lovely and the gardens. Notice that they have a dog and cat and the animals were allowed in the house. Breakfast could have been better with more variety to select from. No lock on bedroom door would have felt more comfortable with a lock.
- Fenja (10/5): Cozy B&B with humorous host - Marc is a wonderful and funny host! -
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - Location, beautiful house, artwork by Mijah was stunning breakfast good.
- Cathleen (10/5): Exceptional -

- Edwin (10/5): Truly happy with our experience at the Windborne! Would recommend to friends without reservation! - Great breakfast...conformable bed...and the shower was amazing! Grounds and trees beautiful...location good...friendly hosts...wonderful experience... No big deal at all...try to get remote fixed...lazy creatures of habit...hate getting up to shut TV off...how did we survive as kids when we had to walk to the TV to change the channel?? :)
- Julia (5/5): Beautiful place, congenial hosts but hugely disappointing breakfast. - Beautiful property. When I could not stomach the watery mushroom egg ramekins for breakfast, I was shocked to not be offered anything else.
- Bettina (9/5): It was a pleasant place to stay. The host was friendlyFriendly, the bed was comfortable bed, and there was interesting - It was very comfortable and private. I was completely satisfied.
- Mcknight (7/5): Good - Breakfast was very good Room was too warm to sleep well and the noise from saw mill quite noticeable
- Suze (10/5): Perfect beginning to our road trip adventure in British Columbia. - We absolutely loved Windborne and the sweet owners, Mark and Mirja. The gardens and house are beautiful, our comfortable suite had everything we needed. breakfast was lovely, had a fabulous time chatting with Mark and Mirja, and took several walks along the shore, meeting their neighbors, all of whom were equally friendly. We can't recommend Windborne more highly. Can't think of a thing we didn't like.
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theresa (10/5): What a nice place to stop on our road trip from Waterton! - This is a great B&B. Very comfortable. Marc is a warm, friendly host. Breakfast was delicious. It wasn’t an issue for us, but guests should be aware this is outside of town.
- Terry (7/5): Pleasant open air accommodations. - Beautiful grounds and house. Good breakfast. Nice owner. Beach across road good for swimming for you or your dog. 10 minutes to town. The elephant in the room is the pulp mill across the river. It is not overly loud but it does emit o stanton background noise.
- Geoff (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): We will definitely book with Windborne again. - The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They gave us a choice for breakfast, which was very tasty, with lovely presentation. They adjusted the temperature and fan for us, even though it changed the setting for the whole house. Beautiful setting. Everything was lovely.
- Scott (9/5): Superb - Our room was fantastic. Food was great, great company. Jetted tub was the cake topper. Location is a pro and con. View of the pulp mill during the day is not the best but at night its very pretty with all the lights.
- Stanislav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glasheen (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely accommodation, convenient and comfortable. We had no complaint. Our host was very friendly and served a great breakfast.
- Michel (9/5): host was great he made great tea - privacy comfy bed breakfast
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - One of the very best bed & breakfasts that we have ever stayed in. The accommodations are first rate. The host is welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. The breakfast was delicious. Overall, simply outstanding!
- Erika (8/5): Very good - Suites were well set up with private access, host met us and provided good breakfasts during our stay. Beautiful gardens and location was good despite being opposite direction from town.
- Bruce (8/5): Comfortable and satisfactory - Lovely house in an interesting garden, and a rural-feeling location.
The host was very available and friendly, and helpful A structural issue with the site is its location across the river from a huge paper mill that runs 24 hours a day and is quite noisy at times, especially at night. When the doors are open, it's intrusive.
A room with only one living room type chair is always a disappointment, for a couple. Small B & B's often struggle with that.
- Catalina (10/5): Wonderful stay, that we would highly recommend if you're in the area - One of our favorite accommodations ever! Great location, beautifully decorated house and rooms, lovely breakfast and super friendly and accommodating hosts, that we very much enjoyed meeting and talking to. Would LOVE to stay here again!
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting, enjoyed sitting on our private patio overlooking the garden - very relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and Marc was a fabulous host. The attention to detail to ensure every guest enjoys their stay begins at the door with a warm welcome.
- Derek (10/5): Enjoyable stay and welcoming hosts - Breakfast freshly cooked and most enjoyable. Pleasant walk to the pub for dinner, but it took 45 minutes. The friendly locals drove us home. Our osts made us very welcome.
- Pete (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christel (10/5): Fantastic find, could not have asked for anything better. - We loved everything. from the super comfortable beds, all amenities in the room, excellent breakfast and wonderful conversation with the hosts. We would absolutely stay here again.
- Susan (8/5): very relaxing stay with great accommodations. - well cared for. great breakfast, Host was friendly and a accommodating . grounds were impeccable
- Bruno (10/5): Great cozy house. - Breakfast was very good. The host Marc is a great man, very friendly. It was interesting to hear about his travels to South America. He was able to give me a ride to Castlegar airport (charged $50 for that, but it sounded reasonable). Not sure. I was very happy to sleep in a bed after 5 days of camping.
