Guest Reviews
- Felix Sebastian (10/5): - Liegt sehr nah am Strand
- ELENI (7/5): -
- Enrico (7/5): Economical alternative near Coco gray sand beach - Very close to beach in cul-de-sac (you can hear waves before 5am roosters wake you up), clean (they actually mop the floor daily), offstreet parking, economic alternative if you can live with limitations No ac (disclosed), kitchen and bathroom shared, you are basically renting a spartan room with ceiling fan in a multiplex rambler where one side has 4br (up to 3 bedrooms were for short-term rent when i was there)
- Cranick (9/5): Loved it! - The location was perfect, a short walk to the beach. The house itself is so cute and the staff were extremely friendly. I had a bit of a hard time sleeping -- pillows weren't what I needed but no biggie.
- Charles (9/5): - Friend ly staff & clean facilities.
- Zoë (7/5): - Het was heel schoon en hele lieve gastvrouw.

- Seth (10/5): Quiet and clean….very nice owners. - It’s a room in the front half of a locals house. They are very nice and it’s quiet and clean. If you are looking for a good bed and rest for the night it’s a great place. No issues
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriela (8/5): Very good -
- Juan (9/5): Best value proposition in Coco, Family-owned business. - Excellent location (less than 5' walk from the main pier) for all your beach-focused activities, also offering the option to do your own cooking. Customer Service-driven personnel, facilities well taken care of.
- Justine (8/5): It was a hostel, I got what I expected. Friendly staff. Nothing fancy. - Proximity to the beach, it was a quiet hostel minus the animals and nature
- Nevena (9/5): Excellent stay for the value - Great location and great host! No AC, so just be prepared.
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional - I could enter/leave the property without having to ask the staff to let me in.
- Christopher (9/5): Good cheap option in the heart of Coco Beach - Nice charming homestay very close to the beach. Owner was very friendly and provided morning coffee. You rent a private room, and there is a bathroom and kitchen shared by all the rooms. The price was very good for the area.
- Soline (5/5): Passable - Feed your cat !
- David (7/5): Decent for a quick stay and well located to Coco beach - Good location and cheap for area Loud noise during night, no windows
- Norlin (7/5): Good -
- Dylan (8/5): Ideal affordable hostel, lovely host! - Ideal affordable hostel! Lovely host and very accommodating, good location close to town and the beach. Only downside is that it’s a little too expensive for what it is but I think most places are around here!
- Colson (7/5): SIMPLY SIMPLE ! - Simplicity is a good friend Learn to accept also what you don't like.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful placement, beautiful lady taking care of everything and beeing around to help you out and smalltalk :) very Good value for money.
- Jace (9/5): Superb -
- Leance (3/5): cheaper option but in the end not worth it sadly - the location and the kitchen was a plus to cook yourself. Well equipped. My room had no windows but manly open with very poor mosquito netting. Considering this is a dangue zone, it was not very reassuring. There is 0% sound proof whatsoever, outside light was on all night, liting up my room and the neighbourhood is very loud with dogs barking all the time. You share the place with the family renting the room and that adds to noise and less privacy.
- Antoine (10/5): Lovely stay - The owner is a the sweetest person ever. Nothing
- Briana (5/5): Passable - The host and location were great! There was no A/C, the bathroom was across the hall, which made it annoying to have to lock/unlock your room when going to the bathroom/showering. There were cockroaches and crabs in my room. The bed was not that comfortable. But for the price, I guess it was ok.
- Amanda (10/5): The place was great and the owner was amazing. - The place was very nice and the owner was amazing.
- Danielle (6/5): Great little homestay! - This was a great little place to stay, just off from the main street and the beach was very close. Its a nice clean place and the owner is wonderful. She will help with anything you need. Having a shared bathroom is always challenging, however, it is thoroughly cleaned every morning.
- Michael (7/5): Good - very basic, but a very fair price, and good location.
- M (7/5): The matriarch was wonderful! As I am older woman, and speak Spanish, she made me feel very comforabl - They offered but I don’t eat that earlu Know that it is a family situation & at times TV & radio were a bit loud.
- Peter (7/5): Nice place, close to the beach - Really nice hostess and a cute little place. Close to the beach. Generally very clean (swept all the time, changed bathroom mat every other day due to sand) and safe (the hostess kept an eye open and you have a locked yard to park in). Rooms were relatively spacious. No AC, but a fan was enough, even with a heatwave. Kitchen wasn't very well-equipped - we had to buy a knife because everything there was dull and worn out.
- Noemi (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is amazing! It's a family and it's very welcoming. House is clean, you share kitchen and bathroom and both are daily clean. Very close to the beach and all the restaurant! Seriously, nothing! I enjoyed everything! Highly recommended
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - The host is SO KIND and helpful. The location was great: on a quiet street but very close to the beach and main street. The room is a bedroom in a shared, Costa-Rica-style house, so it gives the feel of a more local stay (as opposed to foreign-styled hotels). There's also a kitchen guests can use, which helped us save money (Playa del Coco is expensive!!!). The only things I didn't like were about Playa del Coco itself (it's expensive and feels more like America than Costa Rica). I have no complaints about the hotel, it was great!
- Sylvain (10/5): Exceptional - Well located and the family is very nice.
- Tejas (10/5): Exceptional - Maria is a really sweet lady who managed the stay for us. Good location, we had a really comfortable stay here.
It was hard to get here because of a festival that closed down the main street but we spoke to the local cops and they opened the street for us since we were checking in just before the parade.
All in all a perfect stay.
- Milos (5/5): If you need only emergency overnight than it is ok but not to stay longer -
- Ofir (7/5): Budget place - This place is quiet. It has a pool and good privacy for couples. As there aren’t any hostels in town, this 30$ per person is the cheapest. It isn’t as bad as described in some comments.. not filthy. However, rooms are NOT being cleaned properly and I had doubt of the endings had been changed so I asked for a new ones.
- Eduardo (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (7/5): Good - Very close to town center, very close to beach.. the host was very friendly and accommodating. All in all a real Costa Rica experience, like staying at someone's house. The way the place is advertised on the platform makes it look like you are booking the entire house, i.e. three bedrooms. When we got there, we were in for a surprise, as the small house had other guests already there, occupying the other two rooms, cooking, watching TV etc. Thus sharing bathroom, and coping with other guests' noise was part of the experience and the three of us ended up sharing one room.
- Marion (10/5): Coco verde is a quaint lovely home - Clean and well supplied house A little hard to find but exactly where the directions say
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing - Good price and 2 blocks to Coco beach. Huge room-fan kept it comfortable, and drowned out some of the noise. This is hostel-style. Family with kids one-wall-away were loud until very late. Constant wait for the bathroom. Key-lock system is very confusing.
- A-jai (4/5): Disappointing - I was expecting an apartment to myself. But it was many people sharing the apartment with only 1 small bathroom
- Seyit (9/5): Superb -
- Todd (7/5): It was hot, tropical and festive - The location was great, near the beach Less Americans who think they are in San Diego!
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional -

- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Vanessa (6/5): It was okay… I don’t think the heat and noise is worth the money. - It was close to beach. It was clean. The room and house perimeter was lined with netting so heat gets in and any coolness does not stay in. It was extremely hot. And because there aren’t proper walls I could hear workers or whoever it was talking very loud next to the windows… and they were not talking about nothing nice. It was not pleasant as My Son was sleeping. I felt one was imitating My Som crying and saying other things. I hope that is not the case. Also it says entire home yet it is separated by booking and rooms. It’s a shared space.
- Franklinlima (7/5): Good -
- Rorke (9/5): Superb -
- Lindsay (8/5): Overall good for price - Location was close to downtown area and the beach.
- Diana (10/5): Very clean, comfortable, one block from he beach, shops, restaurants..very friendly owners. - Coco Verde was amazing. The owners kept the place spotless. Lovely little casita.
Beautiful kitchen area, tiled floors, lovely long wooden table in front of window that
allowed breeze to flow in. I even had my own bedroom. 300 meters to the beach.
Highly recommend. As a retired woman travelling solo, I felt very safe and secure. nothing really
- Burt (6/5): Pleasant -
- Larry (8/5): It was worth the price ! - Very friendly staff !
- Tony (7/5): Good - Location is excellent, (especially for the price). Full kitchen is a nice convenience. The host and staff are very pleasant and helpful.
- Patrick (8/5): correct - Maria super gentille
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Sergio (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. Perfect location. Reasonable price. Windowless bedroom. No AC. Only one not-conveniently located outlet.
- Aya (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (9/5): good value, Maria was a friendly owner. - the location was very convenient, close to the beach and the Main Street. it didn’t have any signage and was a hard to find. the kitchen didn’t have a lot that could be used.
- Miles (10/5): Great place. Friendly, quiet, good location. - Had my own room, which I didn’t expect. The lady who owns the place was very nice and helpful.
- Tiffany (8/5): It was a great place for my short stay. - This is an authentic Costa Rican House. Maria is a most gracious hostess and will make sure you have everything you need.
The kitchen has everything you could want to cook a decent meal and the refrigerator is immaculate. The house is at the end of the street. I felt very safe and secure.
- Svedberg (8/5): Maria made it worth the stay! - Maria is amazing!! The best and most helpful host I’ve had. So nice! I also had the room to myself because there were no other guests. When the fan in my room stopped working Maria and her family were very fast with helping me and got me another one! I had ants and a tiny crab in my room one night. Also, the water was turned off due to road work for a couple of hours one day which I wasn’t told about.
- Maribel (1/5): Bad - The host was nice and willing to help The booking description doesn't describe the place that you get
