Guest Reviews
- Stefan (9/5): Sehr schönes Hotel mit Pool, Dschungel Vibes und leckeren Frühstück - Super leckeres Frühstück mit traumhaften Blick!
Good vibes und sehr schön alles hergerichtet. Late check in kostet Aufpreis von 20$
- Grotzsch (8/5): Erholsam, wunderschöne Garten - Pool, Frühstückstisch mit Tischdecke und Stoffservietten, lecker Essen. Sehr freundlich Weniger Austattung ins Badezimmer, kein Fernseher
- John (10/5): - Very private, I felt like we were in the Costa Rican jungle, but only minutes away from the city
- Yakari (10/5): Pura Vida! - The host and staff were like family. They were warm, welcoming, friendly, funny, patient, and great cooks! When it was time to leave I really didn't want to. I highly recommend this place and my partner and I will definitely plan to stay here again in the future. I loved everything.

Niets

- Marie (10/5): - La anfitriona es una persona muy muy simpática
- Joel (10/5): -
- Sahajahan (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful property and very private bungalow covered in nature but just steps away from the main building.
- Jenkins (9/5): Completely satisfied - One of the older, rustic BNB's, but comfortable and rates are excellent. Enid fixes a great breakfast. Most enjoyable
- Andrea (10/5): Beautiful place, delicious breakfasts, kind people, and birds, birds, birds! - The grounds were beautiful. From our balcony we saw so many different kinds of birds including toucans! Our room was lovely. No AC, so the day was warm, but it cooled off at night and it was fine. The two breakfasts we had were each different, and both were delicious. The people who work there were kind and helpful.
- Juan (3/5): A nightmare and its only 10 pm - The woman in the reception was extremely nice to me in spite of my stomach pain and provided me some food and tea I came with a strong stomach pain and needed a place to spent the night after spending some time in a local public clinic
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, surrounded by wildlife. Fantastic breakfast cooked fresh in the morning. Nothing
- Nicole (7/5): Good - Breakfast was delicious Barking dogs at night/early morning
- Calvin (9/5): Superb -
- Arroyo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Branko (10/5): Exceptional -

- Bonnie (9/5): Eden of flowers and birds, and a friendly cat - The grounds are beautiful and well tended. Birds sing in the morning, and hummingbirds flit around the flowering shrubs.
Breakfast was amazing: fresh tropical fruit, juice, and poached eggs in a flavorful red sauce with homemade corn tortillas.
Resident cat became very friendly at breakfast.
All of this makes up for the negatives. Roads in the area are scary steep, as is the driveway.
No shower hot water. The worst shower we've had in 2 weeks in CR. Bathroom was hard to ventilate with the very high window.
The room had a small fridge, but no coffee maker or microwave. No glasses in the room.
Bed and bedding was comfortable, pillows were overstuffed and very lumpy.
When we arrived mid-afternoon the room was roasting. No A/C. Good cross ventilation and ceiling fan cooled the room adequately by bedtime.
Difficult to plug anything in beside the bed. We finally pulled the surge protector up above the headboard.
- Tony (7/5): Good - Beautiful setting. Close to town. In the rooms above the kitchen/reception area one can hear the neighboring guests in the bathrooms. The patio furniture in the “rancho” needs updating and better maintenance overall.
- Van (10/5): Exceptional - host and location was amazing
- Ruben (9/5): Nice accommodation nearby San Jose - This hotel provides a swimming pool and a very beautiful garden. The room is quite big and provides a good shower. You can relax at the balcony in rocking chairs. The room includes swimming towels. The included breakfast was delicious!
- Daniel (9/5): lovely garden - lovely setting up from the main town with a very nice garden. helpful staff who assisted quickly with queries. excellent breakfast. we did not have a car but it was easy to use the hotel driver or local Ubers nothing in particular.
- Danute (5/5): Passable - Breakfast was nice. The gardens are beautiful, the pool looked nice. I had stayed there a few years back when there were different owners that were on the property and very involved in all aspects of it. I missed that personal aspect of the stay. I also stayed in an upper level room then. It would have helped to know that this budget room was down so low on the property, below the rancho. It was very moldy/musty smelling and had a dehumidifier running, which was horribly loud. It didn't help that it rained all night and the place had a metal roof, so the sound of the rain was very loud. I don't think that I would have taken it if I had known that it was basement level. I stayed because it was pouring rain and I was tired after a long day of driving on mountain roads.
- Connie (10/5): Exceptional - The service was great! The manager and staff were very nice and helpful. The plants and flowers were amazing. Would definitely book there again. All good nothing I did not like.
- Sigal (6/5): Ok to stay, but not fun - Staff flexible with requests, nice view and lots of birds and trees around Cleanliness needs improvement, inside furniture was minimal, not even a desk in the suite, no shampoo, no microwave, no coffee (there was a coffee machine)
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Oscar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (10/5): Exceptional - The service is very warm and welcoming, the surroundings are absolutely stunning with lush vegetation and many birds including hummingbirds and toucans and the breakfast is delicious. Great start on our holiday in CR. We will be back.
- Rabea (8/5): Very good -
- Karin (9/5): Superb - We enjoyed relaxing in the hammock after a long day of traveling.. The garden was beautiful and we loved all the birds we could hear and see.
- Elspeth (7/5): Good - Beautiful garden and neighbourhood seemed nice and safe. Nice hammocks on the balcony to relax in. Breakfast was nice, fresh fruit, juice and an omelette. Host was kind enough to do it slightly earlier for us. Good stopover before going to the airport. Dogs barking all night that kept us awake (think it was neighbours dogs)
Outdoor shared kitchen was very basic and old, took forever to boil some water and cook using the electric hob. No kettle etc
- Len (8/5): Very good -
- Rory (7/5): Good -
- Dianna (9/5): Beautiful place, friendly staff, great breakfast. They provided a pack n play for our child to sleep -
- Matthew (9/5): Making Costa Rica home. - I stayed for one month in the cabana at the back of the property. It has a full kitchen, so I was able to cut my costs considerably. It's a short, inexpensive cab ride into town. I walked it a number of times, but it may not be for the feint of heart. However, it was a great way to get some excellent photographs.
The property is extremely lush and loaded with beautiful flowers, and I saw many beautiful birds while sitting right in the house or on the porch. Hummingbirds are numerous and always in attendance. Yellow fly catchers and blue crowned motmots, to name a few. It's like sleeping in the jungle without the bugs as the house is fully screened. The owner and staff were exceptional and eager to please. Oh, and I forgot to mention the beautiful pool and the abutting building with a nice fireplace and a view overlooking the forest. If you're a nature lover, you'll love it here. The evenings cool off considerably, and with the help of a good ceiling fan, I slept like a baby. It's in a good location to strike out lots of other great spots. There was nothing that I really didn't like. I like my privacy and they respected it entirely, yet were always there to answer any questions I had.
- Rocio (10/5): Outstanding place, wonderful experience - I loved everything about this place. The garden is exceptionally beautiful, and the staff takes care of every single detail. I wish I could stay here more. That I only spent one night here.
- Raffaella (8/5): Very good - Great location immersed in nature, only 1 hour drive from/to San Jose airport.
The manager is so nice and welcoming and prepared us a delicious breakfast.
- Heidi (8/5): Friendly staff, beautiful garden and delightful swimming pool. - The Eden Atenas Guesthouse had a beautiful garden and a wonderful swimming pool. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a problem with ants. There was a spray to deal with them, but they still kept coming. For a big family the kitchen in our room wasn't very well equipped.
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional - The manager and staff are excellent!!! Very knowledgeable, helpful and resourceful.
The location is very peaceful and the grounds are lush!!!
- Heidi (10/5): A great place to stay - This guesthouse is a good place to stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was great. Waking up in a room in the forest with humming birds outside the window and an amazing garden outside was great. The pool is a great place to relax and you can watch the Iguanas from the water. There were ants in the room. Later I found out that ants are everywhere in Costa Rica, so not a big deal. The paths to our room were very steep and with heavy luggage it wasn't easy. The property is built on a very steep hill. Maybe not the best option for people with mobility issues.
- Brian (7/5): Rain Forrest Retreat - The property was very unique and lovely. Loved all the morning birds! I missed the info about no ac and no hot water.
- Daniel (6/5): I would stay elsewhere. - Breakfast was okay but not worth the $10. Coffee was horrible. Room not in very good condition. Due to this, I feel that the price of $100 per night was too much money for this place.
- Robert (8/5): Beautiful garden setting and knowledgeable host. Worth a stop if passing through. - Knowledgeable and charming host. Surrounding gardens are beautiful. Our room was very big & airy. Pool area was inviting. Gorgeous local foliage. Quiet. Room may not have been used in a little while. It could have used a good dusting and wiping down. Not necessarily negative, but 3 minute drive out of town, so you need a car to get supplies or go to a restaurant.
- Geneviève (7/5): Nice place to stay for the night when you arrive or leave SJO airport! - Very large room
Lots of amenities: fridge, microwave
Helped with the oven
Very nice pool
Calm place
Nice garden Not much to do around!
- Daniel (8/5): A good basic accommodation option not far from the airport with pheasant gardens - Great start to the holiday as close enough to SJ airport and also my first glimpses of CR wildlife Nothing really. Quite basic but good enough
- Keith (5/5): Not a good fit for older people or people with disabilities. - The facility was very attractive with beautiful grounds and it was clean. The room we stayed in was quite a ways downhill from where we parked. As I am getting older walking up and down distances is becoming a little more difficult. We decided not to take our suitcase nor cooler because of the weight combined with the walk and take only what we absolutely needed. Also, the room had no glasses as we had wanted to have a glass of wine before retiring.
- Donna (7/5): Good -
- Bernadine (7/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Breakfast was a typical Costa Rician breakfast which my husband enjoyed. I don't tolerate rice, beans, dairy or gluten so they had very little options for me. They tied to accommodate me as best they could though which I appreciated.
We really enjoyed the beautiful gardens and the view from our room. There was no bottled water. The kitchen area for guest could be better equipped.
- Noémi (8/5): Lovely stay at Eden Atenas thanks to Doña Enid - I loved the breakfast and pool area. Doña Enid was super helpful and friendly and went the extra mile to make my stay unforgettable. The room was a bit dusty and the shower didn’t have much pressure.
- Cary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dlococoyote (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - The property is beautiful with a nice outdoor balcony with a kitchen we used to prepare our dinner.
The staff was very helpful. Everything was great. The bed was not very comfortable. The mattress was hard and it made is get up earlier than we would have.
- Adam (6/5): A nice place with a few issues. - Beautiful garden and pool. Rancho large. Bedroom clean. Good sun loungers around pool. Good breakfast. Bathroom linked overhead to other bathrooms for other guests.
Nothing in Rancho to use - 1 plate, 2 knives and forks etc between all the guests. Had to drive out- could not walk to town.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abby (10/5): Eden is definitely the most appropriate name for this place. - Everything, from the rooms to the breakfast to the pool, is beautiful. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous, the host is especially welcoming and kept us laughing, and there are plenty of places to lounge and relax. We spent the last week going on hikes and tours all over the place, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to rest and simply enjoy the amazing countryside all around us.
- Don (10/5): such lovely hostess kind and welcoming .. great breakfast - beautiful gardens and pool nothing
- Gwyn (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Hard to Find But Worth the Effort - The property has a truly fabulous garden and a lovely pool. Our room had a comfortable bed and a ceiling fan which was needed as there is no air conditioning, and the evening cooled down nicely so we were quite comfortable. Ernesto was welcoming and gave us good dinner recommendations. The locked gate made us feel secure and having a gate controller with the room key made it easy to come and go. The directions to the property made more sense once we found it and there is a lighted sign on the gate which confirmed we were in the right place. They do accept credit cards. There are no hairdryers so be sure to bring your own.
- Linda (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
