- Luis A. (10/5): Amazing views, very quiet and comfortable place, incredible staff (Kees and Griselda). - From there, the view of the Arenal Volcano and the Arenal Lake was amazing. The pool was a very nice addition. The silence around is breathtaking. Kees and Griselda were incredible hosts. I would recommend Monte Terras place without hesitation. I want to visit them again, along with my daughters, as soon as possible! I don't have anything negative to say about them.
- aryan (8/5): A nice, relaxing stay. - A small house with a terrace all to yourself. With all kinds of animals in the garden. Such as a howler monkey, toucan, and sloth. A nice swimming pool with a beautiful view of the lake and the volcano. Every morning a delicious breakfast with a wide selection. Actually nothing.

The view was increíble, the owners, their beautiful dogs, rooms and the breakfast was a 11/10 Nothing!
- Jose Miguel (9/5): Estadía muy cómoda - Instalaciones muy bien ubicadas, linda vista y muy fresco. La atención excelente. El desayuno muy rico. Todo me gustó.
- Katherine Lobo (10/5): - . .
- Mina (10/5): - Amazing place with a great view and friendly owners
- Ingo (7/5): Für einen Zwischenstopp gut geeignet. Netter Betreiber. Also Nahrungsmittel immer schön verschließen)

- Ryland (9/5): Excellent Tico/Dutch Hospitality on beautiful Lake Arenal. - Well-maintained property, beautiful views, and very hospitable owner! Gave lots of great recommendations and even drove me to the bus stop in Tilaran when I missed my ride.
- Leon (9/5): We left La Fortuna in the morning and drove around the topside of the lake to the property on the south. The drive ther - The host was really fantastic, from the outset made he made us feel very welcome and could not have done more to make the stay better. Halfway through our trip we needed to do some laundry and on arrival were told they have a very reasonable laundry service. The breakfast on offer was also fantastic. The Dutch pancakes were delicious. Nothing comes to mind. We enjoyed our brief stay.

- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional Accommodation, Service,Facilities and Views !! - Our spacious, very clean and well equipped apartment had a great kitchen with toaster, coffee maker, microwave and blender. Very quiet setting with large patio, table and chairs. Our favourite pastim was swimming in a long rectangular lap swimming pool wiit panaramic views of Lake Arenal and the Arenal Volcano.
Our hosts Kees and Griselda were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the various restaurants, cafes and mini supermarkets in the Town of Tronadora that were only a short 5-10 minute walk away. The exceptional full hot breakfast was delicious and included scrambled eggs, ham fresh fruit and amazing home made pancakes 🥞 delivered to our apartment each morning . Kees and Grizelda went out of their way to make our stay there as enjoyable as possible. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Stacy (9/5): Great location and breakfast - Kees is friendly, able to make recommendations, and makes amazing pancakes. The breakfast options are fantastic, and we enjoyed sitting out in the covered patio every evening. It is a great location for day trips to the beach, La Fortuna, and Monteverde.
Ninguna queja
- Serena (7/5): -
- Nora (10/5): -
- Adrian (6/5): Standard place to stay near Tilaran - Nice view of the lake Place in general is not very clean, poor light in general inside the room , standards rooms
- Marcia (10/5): -
- stephanie (9/5): Great place, amazing view and super kind hosts - Lovely stay! The cabins were really cute and we enjoyed the garden with its sloth and porcupine. Great and large swimming pool too. Our host was not only warm and nice but also super helpful when we had car trouble - really went out of their way to assist us. Would definitely recommend! Nothing
- Sabrina (8/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): Great spot with lovely hosts! - Great location with such kind and welcoming property owners! The view of the volcano from the pool area is really special and the rooms are spacious, clean, and have strong WiFi!
- Tarah (5/5): Passable - The breakfast was very delicious! Definitely needs some matanence and up keep. It was very hot with only fans available. The beds were uncomfortable.
- Allan (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Nice stay - This is well-located for a stop on the way from Liberia to La Fortuna. We were given a nice welcome and enjoyed our 'pannekoeken' and fruit for breakfast! Keep an eye out for toucans in the trees, we saw lots! The pool is nice and refreshing, and there's a great view of the lake. There are some fans, but no air-con, which was fine when we stayed but might be tricky on hotter days.
- Zhu (10/5): Great place with great view, and great breakfirst! - Great place with great view! Kees is such a nice host and he gave us a lot of advise. We were so lucky to see the Toucans right above the roof! Should've booked for one more night!
- Taina (10/5): Great stay ! - The property is really nice, the lake's view at the pool area is great ! The owners are friendly people, the breakfast was really good. Our kid enjoy watching wildlife in the backyard . Totally recommend staying here ! nada
- Allison (10/5): Relaxing, beautiful, and comfortable. - The property was beautiful and our host was so nice pointing out a sloth in the tree in the morning as well as a toucan. There were two swings our kids loved and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We highly recommend this property especially to families.
- David (8/5): Very good - A relaxing property with a great view, nice pool, and tasty breakfast.
Kind of a small sleepy town.
It’s a drive to experience touristy fun.
So hang and relax.
- Caine (8/5): Great Value in a Lovely Location - As all the other reviews cite, Monte Terres is a lovely setting overlooking Lake Arenal. The grounds are spacious, and the four guest rooms are well-placed away from the parking lot. The location is wonderfully quiet, free of noise from traffic, etc.
Also, Tramondora is an attractive little town with a couple of good sodas, a mini-super, and so on. The surrounding area is clean and attractive. Maybe even more important is that it is slightly off the beaten path as tourists make their way around Lake Arenal, but it is very easy to reach, I REALLY liked the area.
The room itself is spacious and has essentially everything you need. By this I mean that the kitchen has more utensils than many and you really could cook your own food for a longer stay. Wifi worked well, etc. The particular nights I stayed here, the weather was VERY windy, sustained winds all day and all night. This is not always the case, and Kees told me that this is not unusual in early winter but is typically not the case in late winter or as spring breaks.
The people next door had a proclivity to break the rules and smoke. I heard Kees remind them that the policy is no smoking near the rooms, and yet on a second occasion they chose to anyway. Since I had the windows open for ventilation this led to some smoke in my room. This is not the fault of the place but falls to the inconsideration of some guests, and that can happen anywhere.
- Heleen (10/5): Amazing! - 10/10! We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Monte Terras. We were very friendly welcomed by Cees and Griselda. The cabins are very spacious, clean, good hot shower and good working WiFi. The cabin is also equipped with everything you need and the swimming pool is really big and well maintained! Cees and Griselda really made us feel welcome and are the best hosts! The breakfast they offer is delicious, don't forget to take Cees his Dutch pancakes. Griselda also offers (therapeutic) massages. She is a real professional and I couldn't have wished for a better massage. Highly recommend her affordable massage service! Nothing
- Geraldine (8/5): Very good -
- Melanie (7/5): Good -
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional - Rooms are very clean ,comfy and kitchen is fully fited.Nice swiming pool and views for Arenal lake are amazing..Hause owner Case is very friendly ,kind and helpfull. The local restaurants ofer nice and cheap food..Great place to chill.Thank you Monte Terras.
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful property overlooking the lake. Our cabin was spacious and immaculate, the host was very accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent (I recommend the Dutch pancakes). The location is very convenient as it's in between the Monteverde and La Fortuna areas, which make for great day trips. There are also very nice restaurants in close proximity (walk or short drive). I can't recommend it enough.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good - The location had a beautiful view and we could walk into the quaint little nearby town for some food.
The owner was super friendly and eager to help.
Breakfast was good and served directly to your room.
Very large rooms fully equipped. The terrace overhanging the cabins were nice and the mountain view was very peaceful. In general, the cabins had a comfortable feel but aspects of the room needed some attention. Not sure if this is due to the heavy rain season but the room was very musky and I noticed a bunch of black mold on the ceiling throughout. We have mold sensitivity in our family (had two small children with us) and instantly felt the impact. No A/C or dehumidifier to offset the mold/damp air.
Pool looked quite outdated.
At night, lots of little red ants crawling under our door so had to put a towel down to stop them as there is a gap under the door.
Owner was responsive to our needs and worked with us to find a solution
- Kathrin (10/5): Exceptional - We had a really warm welcome from the owner. The cabin was well equipped for everything we needed. We were surrounded by nature and had a nice view over the lake. Can fully recommend!
- Nora (10/5): Exceptional - Easy to find, very comfortable and well-equipped accommodation. Lovely breakfast, and enjoyed the backyard, homey feel of the area in front of the cabins. I liked EVERYTHING!
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful location for Northwest region of the lake. - The host was very friendly and helpful. Spoke English. Massage available on property. Breakfast available on property. Lots of birds around. Like the location near the lake. Several dogs and a cat that made my kid very happy. No problems for us. Bathroom was a shower, kid was hoping for a tub. We made due. It is a long drive time wise to La Fortuna region, so keep that in mind if you want that.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (10/5): A Paradise Garden Lodging Experience - The property was beautiful and as a bonus we got to sloths and porcupines sleeping in the trees, toucans and other birds flying around and perching, and cute little lizards-it was like being on a nature preserve! My son appreciated having enough space to practice throwing his baseball around.
The room was lovely, especially all the fine woodworking. The kitchen was well appointed for making a simple dinner and it was nice to enjoy our breakfast out on the patio. The pool is amazing, long and deep enough to do some real swimming, and there is also a shallow kiddie pool.
The hosts were friendly and helpful and made an incredible breakfast. My son sleeps very hot and the weather was warm so he found it hard to sleep. The other 3 of us were just fine with the really strong fans circulating the air. (For context my son sleeps with a fan blowing directly on him even in winter, so this is definitely a him problem, but he could have used his own fan.)
- Mathias (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff in a B&B spirit. Big pool. Nice view. Good breakfast ! A sloth and nice birds singing around the room/house.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (10/5): We were made very welcome from start to finish - The people, the property, the views, the service, everything was perfect even a Sloth for good measure Nothing
- M (9/5): Superb - Very welcoming, just what we needed
Thank you
- Merav (10/5): Exceptional - This property is a little gem with a spectacular view! I went with my husband and 3 children and the kids had so much fun exploring the property, using the swings and trampoline and running around. Kees was super accommodating, making sure that we had everything we needed! I highly recommend this spot!
- Stefan (7/5): Good - The surroundings and view. The shower and the small ants in the kitchen area.
- Angela (9/5): Beautiful spot, friendly hosts - Friendly welcoming host, great location peaceful with views of Lake from pool area. Comfortable, clean , tastefully furnished and very well equipped cabin. Tasty home cooked breakfast, pancakes, gallo pinto and fresh fruit delivered to room. A hidden gem. Great stop between La Fortuna and Monteverde Nothing, we only stayed one night could have stayed longer.
- David (10/5): A great place to relax and enjoy life!! - The owner Kees was very welcoming and friendly. The property was well kept and maintained. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We are planning our next trip back. Nothing
- Ran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (9/5): Great place to stay! - Loved the pool, the view, the hosts. Kees and his wife were so helpful and helped us out with lots of different things. Tronadora is quiet but authentic - we had a great meal at Don’Liz.
- Anatoliy (10/5): Exceptional - Very good
- Cindy (8/5): Comfortable, clean, very reasonable priced room with a $7 tasty breakfast. - Well kept, clean, comfortable, nice breakfast, very good price for size and convenience. Easy to find and reach. Nice host! We thought we had a view, but for the price it didn’t matter.
- Robert (10/5): Restful stay in paradise. - Beautiful gardens, large comfortable room, welcoming friendly owners. We'll be back! All good!
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing property and owners! Picturesque countryside. Super comfortable and clean bedding and towels. Try their Tico/Dutch breakfast!
- Kim (6/5): Great hosts, but lots of bugs - The owners of this property were super friendly. The breakfast pancakes were delightful. The location was great! The room smelt very damp and there were loads of spiders and ants. Though I do realize that this hotel is in the middle of the rain forrest and this may be the norm for this area, it was slightly unsettling for us.
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was delicious. Great attention and an amazing view.
- Antony (10/5): Magical hilltop guesthouse on Lake Arenal - Monte Terras is an amazing place that is much more than somewhere to sleep for the night. On arrival you will be greeted by Kees, the owner and visionary of this beautiful property. Once you stand at the top of the hill with the wind whipping through your hair looking out over the sparkling surface of Lake Arenal then everything will be clear. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Charlesc. (10/5): Amazing place to stay with beautiful view - The view is amazing!! The village is really beautiful and welcoming. The room is bigger than the pictures and the place is very clean too. We were lucky to spend the night here and we hope we will come back! Nothing, it was perfect!
- Anonymous (10/5): a lovely week of great breakfast, places to sit and enjoy surroundings. most beautiful rainbows almost everyday. to walk - cleanliness, craftsmanship of cabins, landscaping, view, owner & location.
- Wojtek (8/5): Nice cottages in a place with splendid vue of Lake Arenal run by very nice owner-operators - Breakfast was really a good deal. For bearly $5 you can choose from the extensive menu and get it delivered to your room at the desired time. The grounds could have been mor tidy.
- Monicamn (6/5): Pleasant - The view from the pool and the parking is as beautiful as it shows on pictures. The actual cabin has nothing of that view. Not very clean, mouldy and rusty pieces on the bathroom.
- Tod (8/5): Very good -
- Vanessa (6/5): Pleasant - The view The sub par cleaning and the smelly old mattress. Someone should correct the review of 'exceptionally clean' i read before booking. Clean up the grounds and the room better and could could make it work
- Maykeling (1/5): Bad - false advertising I called and was told this was in Arenal.when we arrived it’s actually in Guanacaste.ended up leaving
- Abraham (10/5): Exceptional - The room was spacious and nice. It is located in between a couple of amazing sightseeing spots and is great to use as a base camp.
Kees, the owner, is really helpful and friendly. Even before the trip he helped us a lot with putting our trip together. And when a sloth was in the yard of the hotel, he came to show us.
- Christoph (9/5): Very nice location far from the touristic tumult of the Arenal volcano and still with a fantastic view on the lake - Comfortable beds, separate room for the children, small kitchen with basic appliances.
Nice swimming pool with fantastic view.
Great breakfast made by our host with a ton of pancakes! Nothing!
