Guest Reviews
- DAVID (8/5): Excellent b & b - Great position near square
- David (10/5): Lovely stay in great location, - Our hosts were very friendly, great preparation of breakfast and always on hand to help with directions or issues Nothing
- Gesa (9/5): -
- Rob (9/5): Gemoedelijke B&B - Prachtig oud pand, zeer vriendelijke gastheer/vrouw. Ontbijt erg goed.
- Barney (10/5): Excellent all round. We used the hot tub as well even in the freezing temperatures it was still great. Would definitely - I liked how each room had its own unique style. We was in the poppy room.
- comfortabele, zeer propere kamers
- Albertine (9/5): - Rustig, vriendelijk, aangenaam verblijf.
Lekker ontbijt.
- René (7/5): goed, zeer vriendelijke gastvrouw, de kamer was lekker schoon. -
- Susan (10/5): Would recommend - Lovely, comfortable room. Excellent location and friendly host.
- Rudy (9/5): -
- Alex (10/5): -
- EjH (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Very friendly & welcoming. Perfect location being a couple of minutes walk from the Market Square & with a free car park at the other end of the street. The Chocolate Room was fantastic & very comfortable & the breakfast offered was very tasty! Nothing
- Annette (10/5): Fantastisch!! - Fijne accommodatie, hartelijke mensen, gastvrij ontvangen heerlijk ontbijt.
- Marleen (10/5): Het was fantastisch - Ontbijt, goed bed, vriendelijk. Eigenlijk top Niets
- John (10/5): Quirky but wonderful - This tiny hotel is a very clever conversion of a traditional Ypres town house. The rooms are each themed, and we had 'Chocolate'. The bed was very comfortable, with really high quality linen. The shower was large and worked well. The breakfast was carefully prepared by our host, and delicious. The Christmas decorations (for Martinmass on 11th November) were lovely and somewhat overwhelming. The WiFi worked well, and our hosts were very friendly and welcoming.
- michael (10/5): Hosts very welcoming. Room excellent. Comfortable Beds. lovely atmosphere. - excellent accomodation.as usual. variety of choices for breakfasts. Hosts very welcoming and nothing to much trouble for them. Nothing
- Patrick (10/5): Ons batterijtjes zijn opgeladen ! - Gewoon alles perfect was orde tip
top in orde vriendelijke mensen !
- Joke (10/5): -
- Bas (9/5): Heerlijk verblijf. - Warm welkom, zeer vriendelijke host.
- Wilhelmus (9/5): Heerlijk. - Leuk vrolijk huis. Bijzonder vriendelijke host. Heerlijk ontbijt. Too locatie.
- Chris (10/5): - Lovely room in a beautiful house with a gorgeous garden. The whole family were very welcoming and helpful and made us feel comfortable during our stay. Wonderful location and would definitely return. Thank you Nothing not to like.
- jantje (9/5): -
- Bill (10/5): Awesome place to stay in Ypres! - Everything - the room was spacious and beautifully laid out. The B&B is in a great location - maybe 200 meters from the town square! Josseline and her family were great hosts. The home is fabulous and the breakfast provided was excellent too. One of - if not the best B and B we’ve ever stayed in! Nothing!!
- Michela (9/5): Very happy with my stay, I world gladly return and recommend to family and friends. - Great location, friendly hosts, spotlessly clean room, very comfortable bed, homely environment with funky, colourful decor and Disney characters throughout the property, nice pond and outdoor seating area, good breakfast, although I would have preferred a buffet breakfast or to choose the items the night before as I could not eat the cold meats (I am vegetarian), yoghurt or some of the cheeses and fruit the host had kindly prepared for each guest. Nothing I didn’t like, if anything as a light sleeper I couldn’t sleep with the noise of the mini fridge in the bedroom and I had to unplug it for the night. Otherwise it was all good, I was sad to leave.
- Els (9/5): Zeer goed - Ontbijt en locatie. Host Bed
- Murphy (8/5): - Warm and friendly welcome and a good location for myself Breakfast could have been a bit more of a variety. Very basic bread and fruit in it's plenty.
- Rudolf (8/5): We hebben kort in Ter Thuyne verbleven. Maar het was goed. Fijn onthaal, rustige straat. Prima ! - Locatie, pal in het centrum van Ieper. Top ! Niets viel me tegen
- Alain (8/5): -
- DEVRIENDT (9/5): -
- Genevieve (10/5): Ter Thuyne is a must stay - Our hosts Joseline and Jannick were absolutely wonderful! Jannick helped us carry our bags up the stairs and showed us around the house and courtyard and Joseline made sure we had everything we needed. We came and went as we pleased amd thoroughly enjoyed the candy room.
- Derek (10/5): - Everything. Surpassed all expectation. Nothing
- Florian (10/5): - - Perfekt breakfast to start the day
- Modern rooms
- Hosts are lovely and caring
- Janice (10/5): We can’t wait to come back - This property is amazing. The most comfortable stay in the most beautiful property. Every need is catered for. Including hot tub ! The room was beautiful with everything you could possibly need. The host are very welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We were leaving early hours on our last day and we were catered for too. We can’t wait to return
- Lesley (9/5): Comfortable stay very close to the town centre. - The property is in a very good location in the town with free parking possible on the road outside from 6.00pm to 9.00am (2 hours with a disc in the daytime).
It is an easy walk in to the town square, its bars and restaurants and to the Menin Gate.
We were in the Candy room which had a comfortable bed and a powerful shower.
The owners are very welcoming and we thought it wonderful to be able to sit outside in their garden during the lovely hot weather. We could have used their hot tub too (but chose not to). Breakfast was good with fruit, yogurt, bread, pastries, cheese etc and there was a good coffee machine too. We stayed two nights and the breakfast was slightly different each day.
We thought it good value and would recommend. We appreciate the guest house is themed but we did think there was a bit too much clutter.
- Donald (9/5): great place. Will definitely re-use if I return to Ypres! -
- Stephen (9/5): Delightful b&b right in the centre of Ieper. - Fantastic location right in the centre of Ieper. The main square and Menin gate are an easy walk. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly, explaining the facilities and provided a local parking disc to help with car parking. The breakfasts were plentiful and fresh. Our room was very spacious. The hot tub was an added bonus too. Nothing really, there are no ensuite facilities in the room, but the bathroom was next door, so this wasn't an issue for us.
- Dana (10/5): Amazing family holiday, everything we could have wished for & more 😃 - We loved everything! Breakfast was amazing, something different and unique every single day. My daughter loved the board games and the swing chair in the garden and we all loved the hot tub. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The property’s location couldn’t have been any better either, it’s right in the city centre. Amazing place all around. Very child friendly too. My daughter even got a chocolate cat on arrival and another one when we left and she was given a big teddy to play with for the duration of our stay. Lovely family holiday. Thank you. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Nice short stay with friendly & helpful hosts. - Lovely friendly hosts, very helpful, shown around property on arrival.Breakfast was very good, with a good selection of breads/cheese/ham/cereal/tea/coffee/fruit, juices etc.
Location was very good, quiet street but just a two minute walk to the main square in Ypres. Nothing really, it was fine for what we needed
- David (10/5): Great B&B, - The Lady made us very welcome, the rooms are all themed and our room was the Chocolate room, there was a big Mural of a box of chocolates on the wall, the room was very comfortable and clean, nice shower too,
We were shown the garden and told we can sit on the comfy chairs and if wanted use the Hot tub and Jacuzzi, there was a lovely pond full of fish.
Only a short walk to the main square where all the bars and restaurants are and the Menin Gate,
We will return.. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Excellent B&B highly recommended - Wonderful meet & greet, this B&B could not be better Situated for a visit to the Menin Gate, just a short walk past lots of restaurants, bars & shops, and as a bonus it your driving, Esplanade 7 is a free car park less than 150 meters from the B&B Nothing
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (10/5): Wonderful host, beautiful breakfast and garden and extraordinary location. 10/10 we will be back! - The breakfast was amazing everyday!
Our host Joseline was absolutely fantastic, extremely kind, informative and welcoming.
She provided us with a beautiful breakfast every morning with bonus pancakes, bacon and eggs.
The jacuzzi was set in a beautiful garden with a koi pond. The location was perfect too, a 5 minute walk from the Grand Place so it was ideal, and free parking was available just a 5 minute walk from the b&b but you can also park right outside for 30 minutes to unload your suitcases if you need. It was easter weekend when we stayed and we got a visit from the Easter Bunny on Sunday who gave us belgian chocolate easter eggs! I absolutely couldn’t find any fault with this B&B. We will 100% be back.
- Lou (10/5): Excellent B&B and great location! - Colourful quirky decor throughout the property, with great amenities including a pretty outdoor seating area with a pond, a Jacuzzi and sauna. We stayed in the 'Chocolate' room which was very stylish in decor. Comfortable bed and large modern shower room. Breakfast was amazing! Very tasty, fresh and lots of variety. Especially the scrambled eggs. The family who lives there are very nice and happy to provide information on the local area. There is free car parking at the train station, a short walk away. Also a perfect location to walk into the town centre for shops, restaurants, museum, and the Menin Gate (we recommend the Calinor chocolaterie nearby. You can see them making their own chocolate and it's very yummy!) We would definitely stay here again. Nothing, everything was great.
- Elisabetta (9/5): Superb - Very friendly and hospitable owner. We appreciated having a kettle in the room and the free tea, coffee and hot chocolate that were available. Books about the history of the area can be borrowed. E-bikes are rented for 25€ per day, ideal to explore the WW1 memorial sitesround Ypres. The fruit yoghurt. Everything else of the breakfast was perfectly fine!
- Michelle (10/5): Fabulous comfortable stay - Wonderful hosts, comfortable quiet room, lovely breakfast. Location was great - easy walk to town and to station.
- Christopher (10/5): My father, son and I had a warm welcome and for two nights in this beautiful accommodation. Very comfortable and we were - The welcome to the property by the host was lovely. The room was well presented , clean and beautiful. N/A
- Terence (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely friendly host. Was over Christmas holidays do felt very homely with the decorations. Great breakfast and choices. Good location to market square and Menin Gate. Too chilly for Jacuzzi but offer was there 😃 Gifted with Belgian Chocolates from host. Very thoughtful, quirky hotel
- Michael (10/5): Lovely - Very comfortable, very clean, hosts were very helpful. Unfortunately I messed up on my dates and left a day early but loved the experience Nothing but being English do not like European breakfast.
- Changsheng (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (10/5): Great room, 5 min walk to Ypres main square - Quirky room, well stocked mini bar, decent breakfast, friendly staff
- Izabela (10/5): Exceptional - Our hosts were fantastic. Friendly and warm, and very helpful. They were available most of the time and always welcomed us with a broad smile. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of choices and different options available each morning, from homemade jams, banana pancakes, or boiled eggs to the state of art fruit salad served on your plate to begin with. Served to accommodate our schedule, which was a massive bonus, in a charming dining room with many beautiful christmas decorations. The entire house was meticulously decorated to the tiniest detail, which just added to its original charm. The outdoor garden with a small pond, jacuzzi, and different seating sections was so welcoming that we couldn't resist spending some time there, having a meal in the evening, regardless of winter weather.
Our bedroom (Poppy room) was lovely and comfortable for 3 people (we travelled with our teen daughter), had everything you need, and most importantly, the most comfortable beds I slept in, while away.
Property located perfectly within few minutes walk to the city centre in a quiet street. We visited in December, so everywhere we went, it was beautifully decorated with christmas lights.
- Paul (10/5): Truly exceptional, if you are doing the WW1 thing, you must stay here. - Truly exceptional. Lovely people, and a wonderful big house. Hot Tub in the garden, superb breakfast, and only a 10 minute walk into town. Truly wonderful, and i will be recommending to all my friends. Easy free parking at the Train station. A 5 minute walk. Nothing.
- Michael (10/5): Well worth the visit for remembrance - The Breakfasts were excellent. Different every morning & very well presented. the location is excellent for the train & bus stations & not to far from the center. The hosts were polite & very friendly. Nothing. Everything was perfect
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional stay, delicious breakfast & hot tub access - Fabulous host, very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast exceptional- so much choice from breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs if you want, cereal, cheese, ham and she catered for me with gluten and dairy free intolerances also, which I really appreciated.
We all loved use of the hot tub, a great extra treat and way to unwind in the beautiful garden. Our poppy themed room was lovely & all the colourful artwork around the house.
We got free parking after 6pm right by B&B and host gives you overnight parking pass to get free till 11am the next day.
Selection of games available. Access to a range of hot drinks and snacks at any time downstairs. Very convenient for visiting Ypres as only one street away from main square with lots of places to eat. Captain Cook and Depot were nice to eat at.
Recommend the Flanders Field Musuem and adjacent Yper Musuem & Last poat at Menin Gate at 8pm. We visited Cot Tyne Cemetary and the Yorkshire trenches, but lots you can visit in the area. Nearby Kortrijk nice too for short visit.
Highly recommend & would love to visit again in the future. Thank you. Nothing
- Mary (10/5): Outstanding B&B - Really recommend. Excellent place to stay in every way!
- Steven (10/5): The Town of Cats - Lovely quirky set up of the room and fab continental breakfast. Will stay again for sure
- Annie (10/5): Our stay was delightful, we would have like extra days. - Our hosts Janel and Joseline were amazing. The breakfast was fantastic and the location near the old town square was perfect.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Russel (10/5): excellent stay , will return - very nice property nothing
- Terence (9/5): Great place to stay in Ypres - Great large room. Clean and well maintained. Great location for city centre and Menen Gate. Friendly host
Breakfast good Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): Made to feel very welcome by hosts. - Most comfortable beds.
Excellent location.
Most agreeable hosts.
Fantastic breakfast and small nibbles in the evening. No en-suite in middle bedroom.
- Donald (10/5): Friendly, comfortable and very convenient place to stay in Ypres! -
- Rachel (9/5): Superb - Great area and easy to drive to nearby places of interest. Lovely host and lovely breakfast. On road parking with no guaranteed space. Saying that we did always find a space along the road after 4pm.
- Sue (9/5): Fabulous - would recommend to anyone - We all really enjoyed our time in Ypres very much and also for the great hospitality of Joseline and here B&B. We did not use all the facilities as we were too busy, but it was great, the breakfast was brill - just what we needed to explore the area, Perfect and inexpensive mini bar.
many thanks Nothing
- Jemma (10/5): A unique property in a perfect location for the town centre. - The house was charming with many period features and quirky objects and pictures. Our host was delightful and generous. Our room was large and airy . Everything was spotless and the breakfast was huge with many items home made. We made use of the hot tub and shower out in the garden. We also enjoyed the mini-bar in the room which was priced reasonably. Everything was fine except having a shower room separate to our bedroom. This however was labelled up for our use only. Just hoping we didn't wake up other guests during the night and early in the morning.
- Collett (10/5): So accomodating hired E Bikes for our adventures. Outside area first class enjoyed cold beer and win - Breakfast was great so accommodating Gluten free bread. Looked after very well. Thanks NA
- Ana (10/5): Great B&B - We stayed in the chocolate room. Ter Thuyne is a perfect B&B with all the comforts you could expect from a hotel, for a more economic price. Our room was well-equipped with everything we could ask for. The breakfast had more than enough variation and was freshly made each morning. On top of all of this, the hosts were great and always there with whatever needed. Walter 🐶 was also amazing. The location of the B&B was also great, as everything was within a five-minute walking distance. There really wasn't anything in particular that we can say we disliked.
- Jack (10/5): Excellent stay. Woul highly recommend - Very friendly and very helpful hosts. Perfect location. Free parking nearby. Excellent breakfast generous and varied. Very close to all restaurants and bars. 5 minutes to Menin gate. Bicycle hire at cheap rates. Nothing!
- Bristol (9/5): A little Oasis in Ieper - The Hotel is conveniently located a 10-minute walk from the Train Station and the old square is located 15 minutes walk again. The Hotel is spotlessly clean and has an outside area to relax by the fish pond and jacuzzi. The Chocolate room is spacious and well-equipped with a kettle and cups. Nice walk in shower.
- Michael (9/5): Short mid week stay Jul'24 - Right in the centre of town, 3 min walk to the main square. Parking outside is limited to 2 hours during the day but free from 18.00 hrs thru to next morning at 9am. Free parking opposite train station under the trees is only a 5 min walk away though.
Breakfast is lovely with lots of homemade jams, bread , pastries and fruit all left for you to enjoy just say what time you would like breakfast.
Outside back garden patio area is really nice as well with a hot tub for free use.along with some summer chairs .
We were in Candy room which is a very large room with ensuite shower and toilet. Room also has drinks fridge with some supplied which you can have for for an additional cost, otherwise there is room to cool your own drinks.
Flat screen TV and also an AC wall unit if weather was really warm.
Menin gate 10 min walk away if you are going to last post rendition at 8pm each night, suggest you get there early - we got there at 7.10pm and got to front of barrier - furthest side from main town is where bugle players perform. A number of people had got there before this.
Would definitely visit both B&B and Ypres
again.
. Nothing it was all excellent.
- Mark (10/5): great warm family welcome and hospitality. - Home-style continental breakfast with some great additional dishes each morning Not a big issue, but parking was on street outside the property, it is stated in the hotel details but we just searched properties with parking
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast, well equipped rooms and a nice backyard to relax.
- Melanie (8/5): Very good - We had a delightful weekend break in this quaint B&B. Our 9 year old was so excited that we got ro stay in The Candy themed room. She had a little chocolate cat and a lolly on her bed. The addition of a cuddly cat made her a very happy girl. She was intrigued as to what was in the chocolate room and was showed around by the owners.
The breakfast was lovely, such a selection of fruit, pastries and cheese.
The hot tub was a real treat on Saturday afternoon after a long walk about town.
We were very close to the square.
Air con in the room was much appreciated, as was the mini bar (extra cost).
The garden is beautiful and the owners really have thought of everything. Robes and sliders came in very handy too.
We will be back later in the year. It was a little noisy at night but this wasn't anyone's fault and didn't keep us awake too much.
- Anthony (10/5): A pleasant surprise. - Close to the central Square, about the same distance the the Menin Gate on the other side. Easy to find, very secure, and extras we didn't expect,, sauna and spa and lovely garden.
Excellent plentiful and fresh breakfasts,, great coffee. Super helpful hostess. Main station's a short walk, "free" parking is closer, but some conditions apply. It cost us nothing. The locals are helpful and freindly.
Well presented and clean room, comfortable, thoughtful, a bit of fun too. Quiet.
Top marks.... lots of good restaurants around the main square Nothing. Note. The sheet changes name halfway along which confused us a little as
We came across it for the first time at the main square end.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Davies (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - Had a wonderful stay at Ter Thuyne. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We had the Candy Room, which was an amazing room, very spacious with everything you could want or need from a room away. Beds and pillows were so comfortable, felt very luxurious and air conditioning was a bonus as it was pretty warm, as was the hot tub in the courtyard, with additional robes and footwear available. Breakfast was continental, which again you couldn’t fault, beautifully laid out in the morning, with no complaints with regards to the variety of food available. All in all I would absolutely recommend this B&B and we’ll definitely be returning. Nothing, it was perfect!
- Maisie (10/5): Exceptional -
