- Nicola (10/5): Beautiful guest house in Bruges - I loved everything! Our room was beautiful, the owners went out of their way to make it special for us. Situated in a lovely and quiet area and also walking distance to everywhere you need to visit in Bruges. A beautiful breakfast was brought to our room every morning, with lovely positive notes to brighten our day, that was really sweet, also extra chocolates or homemade cakes as complimentary were given to us to sample each day. I can't wait to come back here 🫶 -

- Sam C (9/5): - Beautiful rooms, breakfast and welcoming helpful hosts.
- Denis (10/5): Wonderful stay at the Royal Swans. Would return in a heartbeat. - The room was very well equipped, decorated and clean. Unusually large bathroom for a B&B, as big as mine at home. Our breakfast, delivered in our room, was delicious and hearty. We were in a quiet neighborhood at 15 minutes walk from main city square. We were welcomed and treated like royalty by our hosts. We felt safe during our entire stay. There was nothing not to love.
- Matthew (10/5): A wonderful step with a lovely host - Attention to detail was amazing. The room was spotless, full of quirkiness and charm. A wonderful place to stay. The breakfast was exceptional. Again little details made it, inscriptions on the boiled eggs, salmon on a slate platter, milk and fresh orange in an old style bottle. I could not fault it. The host was lovely, a nice touch at the end of the stay was a little gift and a genuine request for anything that could be improved. We would not hesitate to return. There was nothing I could fault
Doe zo verder !
- Julia (10/5): This hotel left the warmest impressions, from the care of the staff to the overall atmosphere. Every detail in the room -
- elisa (8/5): A melhor escolha. - Localização, tratamento excelente, bom café da manhã.
- Cathline (10/5): Perfect! - Quaintness, wonderful owner. She was most delightful and helpful. Delicious food.
Very clean. Great location. Definitely a favorite.
- Lesley (10/5): Perfect hosts who couldn’t do enough for you. We will definitely visit again - The property was beautiful with individuality in each of the rooms There was nothing to dislike, it was an absolutely beautiful place
- Carol (10/5): Our stay was exquisite luxury - Our themed room was beautifully detailed as if we stepped into a wealthy home of long ago, yet with all the creature comforts of today! We chose our breakfast each night including home baked Breads, jams, and granola, and it was delivered outside our door at the time we chose on a quaint trolley with accouterments reminiscent of a high tea in a luxurious hotel. Much much more than a simple breakfast! Each afternoon we were surprised with a deli’s homemade baked sweet too! Any drink we could imagine was stocked in our mini fridge and of course we could make our coffee and tea served in gorgeous china cups. We loved everything from the dried rosebud atop of face pads in a silver container to a kitchenette secreted in an antique wardrobe!
- Virginia (10/5): Our home base for exploring Bruges and beyond - Griet and Maarten are exceptionally kind, helpful and generous hosts and provided a comfortable, cozy home base for our 6 night stay in Bruges. Their B&B is located in a quiet residential area about 15 min walk from town center. There is much to see in Bruges and beyond. After busy days of walking and exploring, we were happy to return to the Royal Swans which honestly seemed like home and there was always a delicious baked treat awaiting us! Having breakfast quietly wheeled to us on a trolley and left outside our door was convenient, a relaxing way to start the day and enjoy Maarten’s always delicious breakfasts. Nothing
- Keith (10/5): Everything was perfect, thank you. -
- Irina (9/5): -
- Janis (10/5): The reviews may sound too good to be true but they’re not, this is a must stay property. - Excellent location in very quiet area, about 15 minute walk to centre of Bruges. Griet and Maarten are genuinely lovely people and have an exceptional property, very tastefully furnished with special attention to upcycling detail. Spotlessly clean throughout, we were short of nothing in our room, it even had a hidden kitchenette area with a microwave and fridge. Breakfast was beautifully presented (an amazing choice too) and left unobtrusively outside our room at times to our request- sweet treats were thoughtfully left in our room each day too. Griet gave us a really interesting and informative mini history of Bruges and its geography when we arrived - she made us feel as if we’d known her for ages. This is one of the best places we have stayed in on our many travels, we would not hesitate to recommend it. Absolutely nothing.
- Sofia (10/5): Thank you for hosting us. For your amazing knowledge and historical insights, suggestions and great cannolis 😘 - beautifully decorated and with great attention to detail.
- Guy (10/5): Great base for a 2 day trip to Brugge, great host who had loads recommendations - Breakfast was great, ordered the day before and was perfect in terms of amount and tast Cant think of anything?
Geweldig verblijf gehad! Niks
- Danny (10/5): - The little thing the owners did to make you feel so welcome Absolutely nothing
- Les (10/5): One of the best places we have stayed with wonderful hosts.Don’t miss out on staying with them ! - The room was decorated beautifully and well laid out. Lovely clean bathroom. Access to the patio area which was a great relaxing spot. Breakfast was amazing and there were many extras that the hosts supplied during our time there. Communication before and during our stay was easy and prompt and the hosts gave lots of suggestions for things to do and places to go in Bruges.
- Csaba (10/5): Best service ever - Random traveler: "The perfect hospitality doesn't exist."
Griet & Maarten from the Royal Swans: "Hold my (Belgian) beer..."
I have been around, seen things and stayed places, whether 5 star hotels or cosy boungalows, but the care and attention from Griet and Maarten, the owners of the Royal Swans go well beyond usual hospitality. They are super nice folks who go out of their ways to make your stay unforgettable. And boy, do they have style! The pictures here do not lie: everything is refined and beautiful and high quality, the room decor as well as the the breakfast in the garden. They are full of valuable info and respond immediately to any sort of issues you may have.
Surely, if you picky enough, you may find bits that aren't perfect, but the overall experience will make you forget about them completely. So, take my advice and if there is availability, book your stay real quick. If only we could have stayed longer
- Mo (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing. The best B&B we have ever stayed in Nothing
- Tim (10/5): A Brilliant B&B - This is one of the best if not the best B&B we have stayed in. The hosts Griet and Maarten were very welcoming. The room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The tea and coffee making facilities were perfect as were the thoughtful treats awaiting us on our return at the end of each day. Breakfast was delivered to our room, with items being chosen from a long list the previous day. The food included home made items. Our hosts were perfect, discrete but available if you needed them. Their attention to detail was impressive and added to what was a memorable experience. We arrived some what wet from having had to cycle for four hours in the rain. Griet did not bat and eye lid about us dripping water in her lovely B&B and found somewhere warm to dry our not so waterproof jackets and shoes. Nothing, couldn't fault it.
- Erin (10/5): Breakfast trolley!! Great way to start the day - Comfortable, well appointed, with a wonderful breakfast. Griet and Maarten were excellent hosts. We enjoyed the breakfast, the attention to history in the room and with the lovely overview Griet gave us.
We were .7 miles from city center, very easy to walk. We were 1 mile from the train station, and very close to a walking/running/biking path.
We used several of the recommendations for restaurants and sites to see from our hosts and were very pleased. Nothing - it was all lovely
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Binu (10/5): Exceptional - Spotlessly clean.
Attention to detail with lots of little personal touches… much appreciated.
- Jason (10/5): Great hosts, super location, really comfortable and romantic - The Hosts were wonderful, Greit went out of her way to tell us about the local area and places of interest whilst we sat on the beautiful roof terrace, The attention to detail on furniture and fittings and made a very special boutique individual bed and breakfast. The ordering of breakfast was great and everything lovingly prepared to a very high standard. Very secure in a lovely location away from the hustle and bustle. A lovely home made cake treat awaited us each day on return. There isn't anything not to like
- Helen (10/5): Fabulous hosts! - Hosts were amazing, they gave us every care and attention, nothing was too much trouble. The room was wonderful and breakfast was terrific. It would have been nice to have a shorter walk home
- Madeleine (10/5): Relaxing cosy B and B with very comfortable rooms and unique design - A beautiful room with very unusual touches like the gorgeous stained glass bathroom window. Super comfortable bed and breakfast was fantastic. We both really liked having tea and coffee facilities in the room I liked it all!
- Garrett (10/5): Quaint, comfortable, personal - Griet and Maarten were fantastic hosts! When we arrived, they gave us a small tour and pointed us towards local events we may wish to check out. The breakfast is quite good (especially the pain au chocolat).
The location is also nearby to both a bus station and within short walking distance of the city center.
I would recommend Royal Swans to anyone looking to experience Bruges.
- Nathan (10/5): Wonderful stay - An excellent stay, Griet and Martaan were very kind and provided tasty gifts each day, as well as a wonderful breakfast. The room was very comfortable and in a good location to explore the city.
- Jenna (10/5): Beautiful stay in Bruges, in December - Location was perfect, hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was beautiful, decorated with a Christmas tree also, which we appreciated! and our bed was so comfortable. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the little details were very thoughtful. Nothing, we'd definitely visit Bruges and Royals Swans B&B again.
- Luke (10/5): Fantastic room and amazing hosts - The host Griet was absolutely fantastic, she made us feel so welcome with homemade treats each day and went into a huge amount of depth on what there is to do in Bruges and even the history of the city.
The facilities are lovely and the decor is warm and beautiful. Breakfast was superb offering a wide selection and fresh high quality ingredients. The bed and bathroom were excellent.
Thank you so much for having us and making our trip extra special! It is a little further out from the historic centre but still very much within walking distance.
- Naomi (10/5): Beautiful B&B with excellent attention to detail from hosts - Really lovely little B&B. Just outside the old city boundary so easy to walk everywhere and also easy to get the bus from the station. There was a varied spread for breakfast but we also go cake both afternoons as well! The owners also offered us an early check in and provided us with a balloon and extra pancakes one morning for our wedding anniversary. Everything was excellent. Some travellers from the UK may prefer more cooked options for breakfast.
- Corinne (9/5): Spotlessly clean, friendly and comfortable - highly recommended - Lots of character and comfortable. The hosts are lovely and bring breakfast to your room every morning. I am coeliac so needed gluten free food and they catered for me perfectly. My friend required an accessible room and she was able to get in and out with no issues. Was a bit chilly at night
- Aloysia (9/5): Superb - The attention to detail of the hosts, they really do make the guest feel welcome. When we returned there was always a nice sweet treat
Waiting for us in the room.
Definitely recommend when visiting the enchanting city of Bruges. Nothing
- Fernando (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Fabulous! - It was a short, pleasant walk into the city so location was perfect. It was very close to the main park and Medieval gates. The room was very quirky with an amazingly decorated wall that disguised both the bathroom and kitchen area. Yhe bathroom was a large, fully accessible wetroom.
The host was extremely welcoming, giving us home made delicacies each day and the breakfasts were delivered to our room as per our order from a wide selection, again including homemade items.
We were given a map and extensive suggestions what to visit, including much local history knowledge. It was definitely a stay to remember for accommodation, but Bruges captivated us, being beautiful with a great vibe, lovely bars and great food. The Belgian beers and chocolates are a must. Nothing!
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irene (9/5): Outstanding - thank-you Griet! - We have stayed in hotels and B&B's all over the world - literally -but we have NEVER been met with a such a warm and informative welcome. Griet and her husband could not have been better hosts, their attention to detail, however small, never ceased to surprise and impress. The little touches were too numerous to mention here, suffice to say, our stay was memorable - for all the right reasons! This is NOT something that WE disliked, in fact it suited us perfectly well BUT it might not suit everybody.
There is no dining room on the premises, so your breakfast selection - ordered the previous day - is delivered on a trolley outside of your room, at the time you requested.
In our room was a microwave, toaster, kettle and all the necessary for making tea and coffee, so you don't have to worry about your breakfast going cold if you decide to sleep-in.
- Robin (10/5): Amazing - Every thing, from the moment we were greeted by our host at the front door to the moment we left they could not have been any more helpful. Our breakfast was outside our door at the right time (all fresh and very tasty) our bed was made for us and on our return from our days adventure there was fresh cake in the room. nothing loved it all
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iain (10/5): Lovely city to visit with plenty to see and do. Amazing architecture with a surprise round every corner. - Well appointed and comfortable room with excellent attention to detail in keeping with the local history of Bruge. Nothing
- Philip (10/5): Elegant stay at a beautiful hotel - One word sums this beautiful place up … Elegant! From the fantastic breakfast to the to beautiful room to the fabulous hosts, everything about it is first class.
The bed was extremely comfortable, the room spotless and the choices for breakfast (delivered to your door) were great.
It’s in a really quiet location but only 10 minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of the city.
Griet, the hostess asked when we left, if there was anything they could improve and our answer was absolutely nothing to change. We can’t praise the 3 nights we spent there enough. Absolutely nothing. The experience was excellent.
- Daniel (10/5): This is definitely a place that adds value to one’s vacation. Highly recommended. - Griet and Maartin are excellent hosts who went to extraordinary lengths to make our stay informed and enjoyable. They spent significant time sharing with us information about their home and the city. The furnishings of our room were superb and elegant which might be due to Griet’s profession as an architect. The breakfast and assorted treats they sent our way were delicious (Maartin was trained as a chef) and heartwarming.
The property is an excellent choice for those driving cars at there is free public parking approximately two blocks away (perhaps a five minute walk) which is a rarity in Brugge. The walk to the center of the city is still quite reasonable (perhaps 20 minutes to the Markt). No complaints
- Jeri (10/5): I would definitely recommend Royal Swans B&B. - Wonderful stay! Griet, a Bruges native, showed us to our room and gave us a very comprehensive overview of the city, history, and practical information for our stay. There is an armoire in the hallway with a full assortment of maps, brochures and suggestions for tours and dining.
Breakfast was served in the room, which had a patio, and was always delicious. Griet and Maarten are strong believers in sustainability and have created an environment that shows being environmentally conscious can be very elegant and comfortable.
Maarten is a baker and always included a surprise treat on our breakfast cart, as well as a home baked snack in the afternoon. I know it's cliche to say we were treated like family, but that is actually true. Griet helped us get a package ready to send out UPS, and even delivered it to the post so we were able to stay in the center city without making a trip back to make the UPS hours. We had a 1:30 departure on Sunday and they invited us to stay on their beautiful patio until the cab came.
- Montana (10/5): Don’t hesitate, book this place!!!! - Everything!! The attention to detail was absolutely spot on. I’m a perfectionist and this B&B blew me away!
The walk into the centre was a leisurely 10/15 minutes through the most beautiful streets. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and delivered to our door everyday. We were able to keep our bags there before check in and after check out, so we could secure a free parking spot - this was no bother to Griet and Maarten (thanks again)!
We fell in love with Bruges, with thanks to the hosts and this lovely B&B. We will definitely stay here again and I’ve already recommended this property to friends. Nothing
- Siddharth (10/5): Excellent place to stay in Bruges - Great location, easy walk to the city centre. Lovely hosts. Top-class hospitality, Excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed. Nearby free parking.
- Beverley (10/5): Fabulous friendly B&B - The whole experience was amazing. Our host made our stay special , fantastic choices for breakfast, great location. Beautiful room and the lovely home made treats left by our hosts what a wonderful touch Nothing
- Dyuthi (9/5): Superb -
- Angela (9/5): Superb - Very attentive host
Quirky room
Breakfast choices Small room for the price if we are honest
Parking was 400m from the property
Difficult to enjoy the great breakfast due to lack of space
The door was not correctly aligned making it difficult to lock - we had to lift and turn the key
- Josh (10/5): Lovely stay in excellent accommodation - Our hosts - Griet and Maarten are amazing! Griet has exceptional knowledge of the city and its history, which is really useful to help you plan your stay. I was lucky enough to be there for my birthday and I was treated to homemade cake and decorations on arrival, plus there were other treats offered throughout our stay, chocolates and other treats, all delicious! The location is great as well, it's a lovely area and our room was very comfortable with it's own private breakfast terrace. The room itself is well equipped and the bed very comfortable. There is also nearby free parking, which is very handy Nothing bad about the property, but you must be aware it takes 15-20 minutes to walk into the city
- Daniel (10/5): Brilliant Bruges break - Stayed 9th - 12th May '24. Had a fantastic stay in this quiet neighbourhood about 1km NE of City Centre. Loved the personal touches that showed that Griet and Maarten really take pride in giving their guests that homely feeling. It was spotlessly clean with all the facilities you need. The warm weather allowed us to have breakfast on the terrace which was a great start to the day with delicious food catering for all preferences. Griet and Maarten were knowledgeable with all things Bruges, recommending some proper back alley pubs, free parking and even sorted some seats to watch the Procession of the Holy Blood which was great! All in all a great trip made better by our choice of accommodation and hosts .
- Catherine (10/5): Truly exceptional - Lots of little thoughtful touches that made you feel incredibly welcomed. The owners exude warmth and care in every aspect of the stay.
- Hakan (10/5): Lovely and peaceful place to stay in Brugge. - The breakfast was extraordinary. Especially the notes with the breakfast :) You can feel yourself at home in a well-decorated room with lovely furniture. You can easily understand the woman's touch in every detail of the room. Thank you for the detailed and helpful recommendations about the city. Our car was safe in that special parking area. Thank you for the lovely notes and delicious cake from the lovely host, Grient, and his husband. There is nothing to complain about our stay.
- Galit (10/5): Exceptional - Decorated and pleasant rooms with every little detail in mind. The hosts are lovely and attentive to the guest needs. They have a lot of knowledge about the area and they are happy to share it. Every day we were treated with homemade pastries and nice notes. Excellent breakfast. Nothing. All was great.
- Michael (10/5): Fabulous! - Great location for the centre of Bruges - 10-15 mins walk, the hotel is tastefully decorated and has all the facilities you need.
Griet the owner was very helpful and went the extra mile by leaving small gifts and snacks for us when we returned to the room.
I would definitely book again

It was a great way for us to orientate ourselves while planning our sightseeing. Our hosts were very detail oriented, always with thougthful small gifts and notes. The room was comfortable, clean and cozy. We loved our stay there, and if we would go back to Bruges, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!

- Jennifer (10/5): Heart-warming stay in Bruges - We liked everything! Griet and her husband were so amazing. I've never experienced this kind of heart- warming caring during a stay on a trip. Every morning we got a small home made treat additional to our great breakfast in our room plus a personal note :) When we got home in the evening there was always a goodie like homemade cake, chocolate mouse or a raindeer cookie sleigh waiting for us...so nice! The room itself is wonderful (we got a christmas tree :) ) and themed to a medieval local. The bed was comfy, we enjoyed the kitchenette and the bathroom, wich was great! The interieur is really nice and and well chosen. We also liked having a chat with Griet every day and her tipps were perfect: ) She even got us a table at a restaurant for Christmas Eve! ❤️ We will recommend you to our friends and if we'll see Bruges again of course stay at Royal Swans again :) Only the rainy weather :)

They go above & beyond to make your stay feel special, and are extremely helpful. Nothing to improve!
- Leighton (10/5): Absolutely wonderful! - Griet was the most amazing host. From the moment we arrived she made us feel so welcome. It was the little touches that made it for us, from the little 'have a great day' notes with breakfast, to coming back in the evening to find homemade sweet treats. It was my birthday whilst we were there and our breakfast trolley was decorated with balloons! Griet also gave us recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Local knowledge of the 'hidden gems'. A perfect little break and would love to go back. Nothing!

Very clean with all amenities one needs. Breakfast was great served with personal messages which we loved, and Maarten surprised us every day with tasty afternoon pastry. Good location, 10-15min walk to the old city centre with lot of recommendations of local spots to visit and eat shared by Griet Nothing, all was great
- Dee (10/5): Five Star Eco-Luxury - in a class of its own - Five Star Eco-Luxury in a beautiful city. Perfect hosts, high quality breakfast with plenty of choice, beautifully furnished rooms and genuine commitment to sustainability. The perfect place to stay for guilt-free luxury. Having to leave!
- Iveson (10/5): Exceptional - The location was fantastic, 10 minutes or so walk from the old city of Brugge. The hosts were lovely and paid so much attention to detail. We were given a homemade cake each on arrival and also a delicious homemade chocolate mousse on our second day. The breakfast was lovely, with many personal touches, including hand written notes.
The attention to detail was also noticeable in the room, which was designed in a bespoke way in reference to Brugge’s medieval history.
The personal touches really made this a fantastic and memorable place to stay. Everything was perfect, I struggle to find any faults.
- Garfield1979 (10/5): Just perfect! - Great place with great staff!
