Guest Reviews
Steile Wendeltreppe
- Deb (10/5): Comfortable room in excellent location. - Very comfortable good value room in an excellent location. Room is small but very well designed. For one person it was ideal because I could use the 2nd bed for my large bag. Gelato every day was a plus. Close to many tourist sites. Metro station about 7 minutes walk.

- Deborah (10/5): Nice quiet guesthouse near popular tourist sites and the riverfront. - Very near public transportation and the river. Room was quiet at night despite being near popular tourist sites.
- Laura (8/5): Great place if you want a good location and cheep price. - Great location. Great price. Air con worked great. Towels and hairdryer. Felt secure. Very small room but was fine for 2 people for 3 nights. Any longer and I think we would have struggled. The room was meant for 3 people and I’m not sure how that would work.
- Stefan (8/5): - Super Lage, gute Anbindung zur Metro. Saubere Zimmer, etwas hellhörig aber Nachts sehr ruhig. Zimmer haben leider kein Fenster mit Tageslicht .
- MURIEL (9/5): - Jolie vue sur le fleuve proximité des monuments super salon de massage juste en face
- Yvonne (10/5): -
- CHUA (10/5): It was a great experience. - The room is very clean and comfortable.
Gelato as welcome dessert. -
- Rachel (8/5): - Excellent location.

- Lindsey (10/5): Great location, free gelato, kind staff - The location and free gelato were amazing! We had a great time during our stay. If you are looking for a comfortable room to stay in at night while you are out during the day, this is great. If you plan on staying in your room a lot, it would likely be a bit small for you.
- Dane (10/5): - The room was really nice. The bed was very comfortable and the location was amazing. Nothing the place was great.
- WolfgangR (8/5): Great place for an overnighter right in the Center of everything! - We booked this place because of its location close to the river, the place where we planned our dinner and the various sights. You can´t get more central than this. The room (I believe there are only two) was quite small but well equipped and offered everything we needed. Very nice hot shower!
It is an interesting set-up above an ice-cream parlor (!) in a small side alley. Clean and cozy, ideal for a night or 2, perhaps a bit too small for extended stays. Will happily come back!
And: the ice cream is very good! Can´t think of anything. Thank you!

- François (9/5): A perfect stay for us and would for sure stay here again. - The room was attractive and well designed; the beds very comfortable. The location was excellent; close to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, Rajinee Pier and the Metro. Several good restaurants close by, some with a beautiful rooftop view of Wat Arun at night.
The staff was super friendly and the daily free gelato a treat we loved. Note a steep spiral staircase to the upper floor - no problem for us at all - but not suitable for someone with mobility issues.
- Susan (10/5): This is a hidden gem! - Great location; good, clean, quiet room, one free gelato a day!, close to the river and river travel piers, close to Wat Arun and Wat Pho, lots of great eateries and massage places nearby. No dislikes
- Caitlin (10/5): - A fantastic stay! The rooms are as pictured - modern, clean, and comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful but didn’t speak English, which was fine. The free gelato was tasty! If you want to be near the main tourist attractions, this is the spot! It was nice to be able to walk back between activities without wasting time. Couldn’t be happier with my stay. Nothing

- himesh (10/5): - What a great little boutique guest house! Off the beaten track but in such a great location surrounded by amazing cafes and restaurants!
Proximity to all the tourist sites (temples & palace) all walking distance! Close to river boat station for easy access to the rest of the city and never a shortage of a tuk tuk or grab driver on hand to get you anywhere!
Rooms were great, we had both on the top floor, cosy but comfortable and extremely clean and well maintained! Perfect for a short trip.
Owner and staff were great, helped with bags (top floor is at the end of a steep spiral staircase), rooms made up daily and well kept.
The Gelato... Cannot describe how amazingly nice this was! Free scoop per day for each of us and the flavours were out of this world!
Wonderful stay and the kids loved the ice cream and visiting the nearby sites! Great place if you are first timer in Bangkok or looking for a reasonably priced short stay.
Definitely will be back!

- Gabriella (7/5): Great location, not a great value - Excellent location, and the facilities (AC, water pressure, water heater) worked great. Pretty comfy bed. The value is disappointing - it’s very expensive, even for western prices, and you just don’t get much. A TINY room, basically fits the bed and that’s it. No view, no rooftop, no balcony, no breakfast, nothing. I wish I had spent just a little more to stay at one of the other hotels in the area with a lot more to offer.
- Deborah (10/5): Cosy, clean and easy access - Really
Cosy, great location and super clean.
- Kanokkorn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Amazing space with the BEST gelato - Gorgeous place with lovely staff. Clean and super close to the temples on a quiet street. The ice cream you get free each day is AMAZING! The best I’ve had outside Italy.
- Minako (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alecia (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay, great location, definitely recommend. Nice surprise, one per day, free delicious gelato. - Comfortable, location, great host and staff
- Enda (5/5): Besides the humidity odour, it’s a good option - The location is great. The host has been very helpful arranging the rooms early and the transfer early in the morning The rooms were very humid. The smell could be felt even when you enter the building. The rooms were occupied with humidity machines but they did not help so much.
- Wickham (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, close to temples and public transportation (subway). A free gelato once a day.
- Gina (9/5): Great location. Would stay again. - Clean. Good location No place to hang your towels.
- Denis (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Julian (9/5): Superb -
- Luc (10/5): Excellent staff… they offer free gelato every day for te renters - The location of this establishment is excellent: near the main city attractions, walking distance from the subway etc.
- Sharra (9/5): Convenient location - Location and friendly staff. Free delicious gelato was a definite perk. Window faces wall
- Tim (9/5): 5 reasons you should stay here: - 1. Friendly and very helpful staff
2. Location is perfect
3. Comfy Beds & amenities
4. Several Michelin restaurants next door
5. The best ice cream in Bangkok! - Thanks for having us!
- Elena (10/5): Perfect location - Stuff is very friendly. Very clean, comfortable beds.
Location is perfect. A lot of Buddha temples, Grand Palace, markets, the metro statin is near the hotel. Ferry Wat Arun is 3 min from the hotel . 3 Michelin Guide recommend restaurants are in 2-4 minutes.
- Rodriguez (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay here on the riverfront! - We rented the two rooms upstairs. We loved the location as it was close to all of the temples and the riverfront! The staff were so kind and helpful! It was so completely hot when we arrived, but they offered us free gelato to cool down😍. They said we could have one free gelato every day, however we were gone so much that we missed out as we did not get back until they were closed everyday. We also arrived early in the morning before check-in, but they were kind enough to hold our luggage for us while we went out and explored. We will definitely stay there again and next time stay a lot longer!!
- Michael (10/5): Great choice mid range riverside location. Walk to several temples - Absolutely best riverside chic and cozy. Affordable . Great walking or boat ride to several cultural temples.
Super nice staff. Very well informed and helpful.
Delicious homemade gelato..
- Adrianus (2/5): Try to avoid this hotel - This is a room for rent above an ice cream shop with extremely steep steps. Dont even dream about this place if you have knee problems. We were only staying because there was no other hotel available and it was my worst nightmare coming true. They have an AC fitted on the ceiling blowing right on the face when sleeping and it produces a lot of humidity in the room. The toilet still had dirt and hair when I arrived. The strong detergent/fabric conditioner smell on the duvet and pillow cover made it impossible to sleep and I ended up buying my own blanket, pillow case and towels to be able to complete my stay for our non refundable reservation. It was also the smallest room we ever had.
- Chun (10/5): Exceptional - Comfy bed and high blockage of light that facilitates good sleep. Tasty gelato and cheerful owner. Nicely prepared.
- Isin (9/5): Comfortable stay in a very central location - Comfortable place in a very good location The room had a moist smell and airconditioning makes a lot of noise
- Adele (9/5): Cosy, clean room very near attractions. Great friendly host -
- Silvan (10/5): great location - Great nice People snd place and great Ice Cream The rooms are a little bit small, but it‘s ok
- Justin (10/5): Great location, comfortable room, lovely staff. - The staff was so welcoming and kind. Our room was tiny, but very comfortable. The location was great for doing so many things. Would love to stay there again.
- Simon (10/5): Beautiful decor lovely host and the world’s best ice cream !! - What’s not to like . The rooms are beautifully laid out and decorated . They are slightly small but everything is so well laid out we hardly noticed . The host was so nice she couldn’t do enough for us . The spiral stairs to the apartment are a little steep but there’s good handrails all the way up . Honestly I couldn’t fault this as a place to stay . Lots of lovely Resturant’s and bars close by . Small walk to the river taxi and temples . Great views of Wat Arun across the river and the best thing of all was a free ice cream everyday . Honestly I’ve travelled a lot and this has to be the best ice cream I’ve tasted ever !!! . Thank you for a wonderful stay you made our time in Bangkok even better . Nothing !!
- Lisa (10/5): Loved our stay over New Years - Great location, great value for money
- Ernie (9/5): Superb -
- Rudolf (9/5): Accommodation with ice cream - A very special hotel with a pleasant atmosphere in the center of the old town. There is an ice cream shop on the ground floor and a few rooms on upstairs. They are small but clean. A view of a wall that is decorated with artificial flowers and plants. A good choice for two or three nights. It is small for a longer stay.
- Nadya (10/5): GHEE Gelato House has a great location at a reasonable price. - A small but very cozy hotel in the heart of the old city, two minutes walk from Wat Pho at a reasonable price. The rooms are small but have everything you need and are extremely clean and tidy. The beds are very comfortable. The staff was extremely courteous, friendly and helpful.
- Justin (10/5): Comfortable room with the friendliest of staffs. - The staff was so lovely, the bed was very comfortable, the air conditioner worked great, and the location was pretty nice as well. The room might be small if you're looking to have more than a couple people in it, but it was a perfect little sanctuary for my wife and I on our honeymoon.
- Luka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lieser (10/5): Charming place - Two Michelin star restaurants are block away.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marie (10/5): Unerwarteter Juwel am Chao Phraya - GHEE Gelato House is one of the most wonderful accommodations I've ever stayed in - an unexpected gem. The location directly on Chao Phraya with the numerous restaurants, cafés, street food stalls and the historic city center is already phenomenal in itself. The few rooms themselves are located on the higher floors of a gelateria, which gives the whole thing a family feel. The rooms are lovingly furnished and practically equipped, so that nothing is missing despite the limited space. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful at all times. The only unfortunate thing I have to say is that unfortunately we couldn't stay longer. Will definitely come back on my next stay in Bangkok.

- Shari (8/5): Very good -
- Alisdair (10/5): Exceptional - Free ice cream, friendly staff, great location, great price! Nothing :)
- Coralie (8/5): Extremely helpful staff, very comfy stay - My stay there was made very comfortable by the staff who went above and beyond to accommodate me. No matter how late I landed or how heavy my suitcase was, they were always ready to help. Bonus was free (and delicious) gelato every day. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was the quietest I have ever had in Bangkok. The only slight downside is the size of the room, making it difficult to open a large suitcase - this is quite normal in central Bangkok, though. The spiral staircase is quite narrow, perfectly fine if you're able bodied, but to keep in mind otherwise.
- Marek (9/5): Superb - Central located, boats, wat Pho, Royal Palace, buses, metro station. Really comfy and .big beds. Staff very kind. We got icecream for free (delicious). No noises, aircon quiet, no transport noises. Room is small, but enough for 2-3 nights.
- John (10/5): It exceeded our expectations in every way, and we highly recommend it! - Wow, what an amazing find! This place is a true hidden gem in Thailand. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with exceptional service and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home and comfortable throughout our stay.
The breakfasts served on trays were a delightful surprise, with freshly prepared dishes and a variety of delicious add-ons like fruits, juices, and cereals. And let's not forget the free gelato, which was an unexpected and heartwarming treat!
The location couldn't be more perfect for travelers like us. It's situated away from the bustling city of Bangkok, allowing for a peaceful and relaxing environment. However, it's conveniently close to numerous fantastic food hubs and main tourist attractions, making it an ideal base for exploration.
Overall, we can't express enough how thrilled we were to have found this place for our first trip to Thailand. It exceeded our expectations in every way, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay.
- Efren (10/5): Exceptional - I like the location of this cute hotel. Many great sites such as temples and palaces are within walking distance. It's also near a subway station giving you access to the whole city. Everything was great!
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Pandora (8/5): Rested very well for a night - Very kind and available staff. The room was just as in the pictures, so beautiful and clean. We stayed for a night, the room was next to the breakfast spot but we rested so well and quietly.
Very nice location, next to the amazing Wat Pho.

- Tasch (10/5): Safe, comfortable, friendly and close to everything I wanted to do. - it was very clean, comfortable and a great location. The people were very friendly and helpful. it was also very safe for a solo person travelling. not that it bothered me but if you had trouble with stairs it would not be suitable.
