Guest Reviews
- Joanne (8/5): -
- John (5/5): Some places you are sad to leave, some you are glad to leave and others like this one you can’t wait to leave. - The bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was like a shower recess. There were no glass or walls to contain the splash from a waterfall shower head such that the entire bathroom floor other than one dirty corner was wet with each shower.
There was an odour of either stale cows milk or animal fat when you entered the space.
The kitchen was adequate but needs a refresh. There were copious and generous supplies of farm produce supplied.
You could call it all rustic and chic or dirty and neglected depending on your point of view.
The location was OK but not great. It is our first time to the Barossa. We would choose differently next time.
Our contact with the host was minimal. He was clearly busy organising an eating venue attached to the property. On one of the three nights we stayed there this work continued until after 2:00am.
At $300 per night you can stay in a 4-5star hotel suite in the Adelaide CBD.
- Deborah (8/5): A wonderful 67th birthday treat. - OMG, the list is so long. 10 out of 10 breakfast. Dairyman butter, bacon, sausages, fresh local farmed mushrooms, eggs & artisan bread is just the start. Great coffee, wine & chocolates.
Walking the cows in on a balmy night was so relaxing. Being out of the town, down a gravel road, that was only 10 min from Lyndoch was perfect. The huge gum trees on the farm were magnificent. The perfect get-a-way. The nonstick cookware was deteriorated, so we bought a new frypan from IGA at Lyndoch (at a great price for a quality frypan). Actually a bonus.
No fly swatter
- Martha (10/5): - Michael and his team were friendly and welcoming! Invited us on a farm tour. Supplies provided were amazing. Above and beyond
- Ryan (10/5): Great farm stay in Barossa! - A great place to stay with kids! Owner is very helpful. Array of farm animals to visit and delicious bacon, ham, eggs and sausages provided
- David (10/5): -
- Ioana (10/5): Amazing stay - The animals were the highlight for our little son. We loved everything from the beautiful surroundings, cool modern interior design, great food (eggs orange like on a farm, fresh cheese, milk, break, a dream!). We stayed 5 nights but would love to stay longer or to return. Barossa small boutiques Winneries were fabulous too.
- Iana (10/5): - Просторный дом, окруженный полями. Можно посмотреть ферму (свиньи, коровы). Хозяин предоставляет вкусные продукты для завтрака. Двор нуждается в уборке
- Marie (10/5): Tranquil Farmstay in Glorious Barossa! 🍷 - Wonderful tranquil rejuvenating location on quiet country road. Michael (owner) was terrific in communication and welcome. Wonderful welcome goodies market fresh bread, meats and eggs and the most delicious oyster mushrooms, all washed down with delightful Shiraz blend from his farm! All in a delightful cottage. Thanks for a great introduction to my first few days in Aus!😊 Nothing… everything was great!
- Giselle (10/5): A fun and enjoyable farm stay perfect for couples and great for families with children. - Michael was an amazing host and went above and beyond! The food supplies were greatly appreciated, generous and excellent quality. He spent his precious time allowing me to tag along with him during the milking of the herd, feeding the pigs of various ages and had the patience for all of my numerous questions. It was quite an experience, extremely enjoyable and informative. A big thank you to Michael. Didn't like the coffee plunger! As both my husband and I are major coffee drinkers having a proper coffee maker (Nespresso with pods would have been fine) would have completed the perfect visit. Maybe next time.
- Rosemary (10/5): Memory making experience for the whole family. A must stay when in the Barossa - Breakfast was fantastic, the memories made by the whole family will last a lifetime. Definitely somewhere to go for an experience. We loved feeding the pigs, helping bring in and milk the cows and seeing how mushrooms are grown. Nothing
- Shannon (9/5): -
- Wayne (10/5): A perfect farm stay that we would highly recommend to anyone! - Perfect farm stay cottage, great position and amazing host!
We felt like we were a part of the farm family!
- Wai (10/5): Will definitely come back again - Amazing property, the kids like the animal in the farm a lot. Everything is well prepared for the stay
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely stay Thankyou - Rural location on a working farm. Lovely comfortable beds/bathroom and linens to come back to after exploring. Fabulous bottle of wine from Mike and breakfast supplies Nothing
- judy (10/5): Wow , was our first impression when Michael showed us where we were to spend our next 2 days. The fridge was full of the - Everything! Unbelievably beautiful accommodation , surrounds and staff ! The best place we have stayed in .
- OzMoose (9/5): Met all expectations, wonderful place, generous provisions, would return. - Lovely quiet location. The cottage has a lot of character and is a bit unique. Being able to see the pigs being fed and cows being milked was a highlight, as was the ample food that was provided. Friendly host who gives you privacy but is available when and if you need anything. A shower screen would be good as water splashes everywhere but this seems like the trend these days (and was not a major problem). Other than that everything was wonderful.
- GARY (9/5): Excellent ! Will definitely return ! Michael was an excellent and informative host. - Lots of produce provided , more than enough for 2 people for 3 days ! Quiet , roomy , comfortable Nothing at all
- Vikki (10/5): Lovely location in a very pretty spot - Eggs, Bacon, Orange Juice, Fresh Bread, Milk all from the farm. Nothing
- Helen (9/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): 5 night stay. - It's only a short drive to the outer suburbs of metro Adelaide, or into Tanunda, but once you're at the accommodation you feel like the hustle and bustle of the city, or big country towns is a world away.
It was a delight to watch the pigs get fed, bring the cows home, and see them be milked.
We were greeted by Michael upon arrival who showed us through the accommodation and supplied a lovely range of farm produce for us to enjoy.
- Loretta (10/5): -
- Tristan (9/5): Lovely farm stay - The host is really generous with his delicious dairy and meat products, and with his time... we were able to tag along on farm activities and walk the property.
- Janice (10/5): Lovely secluded stay for enjoying Barossa Valley - Loved how unique this place/experience was! We stayed in a very modern studio room (comfortable bed with powerpoints right next to bedhead, well appointed kitchen including dishwasher, great lounging chairs for watching TV), with the countryside and cute baby cows just outside your doorstep. Michael and Alessandro were very welcoming, and gave us some great recommendations for exploring Barossa Valley. We got heaps of produce to also cook with - the oyster mushrooms were delicious - and a bottle of red to take home. Bathroom was huge, which was great! Only thing was the shower water would splash and leave the flooring wet. We just put an extra towel on the floor but if you were using the bathroom during the night for example, your feet/socks could get wet.
- Louise (9/5): We had a lovely weekend. Very relaxing and close to all the attractions in the Barossa Valley - Loved being in a rural location. Just like a farm stay. Michael was so welcoming and generous with his farm produce. Beautiful breakfast left for us to prepare including Dairyman’s Cottage ham, eggs and milk. Highly recommend a few nights stay. Nothing !
- Kelsey (8/5): -
- Hiang (9/5): We love the stay and Michael is a great host! - We like that the cottage is clean, spacious and come w 2 bedroom with en-suite toilets. Nil
- Robyn (8/5): Very good - We were welcomed with a lovely hamper of fresh local grown food. We made breakfast with the fresh eggs , bacon, sausages & sour dough, even squeezed fresh oranges to make juice. The rooms were clean & well presented, the beds were comfy & electric blankets were great in winter. The farm was lovely , Michael took time to let us watch him milking the cows ,also walks around the farm.seeing the pigs was a delight. The local towns & vineyards are only 10 minutes away.
- Cassie (7/5): Enjoyable stay, but room needs TLC - The farm to table bacon, sausages, ricotta, mozzarella, butter, and milk were delicious. Being able to experience a working farm and seeing the cows being milked and the calves and pigs being fed. Michael and his farmhand Alessandro were very friendly. It was very quiet at night, and during the day the birdsounds were lovely. The location is about 8 mins to the closest town and wineries. We stayed in the accommodation for two people and found out it shares a wall with the milking area and cheese making room. So being a working farm you will hear humming and other noises in the room from machinery from about 7/7:30 am to 8 pm at night. Also, there are no blinds on the upper windows so it is very bright from sunrise to sunset. The room has seen better days with most of the white appliances needing maintenance with parts replaced and the door sticks on opening and closing. We also found it very cold (we stayed in late June). The shower has no glass panel to stop water splashing everywhere which made the floors slippery and cold. Having stayed for 4 days I also really missed conditioner, moisturiser, and tissues which were not provided. It also would have been good to have a shoe rack for dirty shoes.
- Kerry (10/5): Awwww the serenity! Truly the perfect country escape, so much more than you could imagine and the singing of the blue wr - Perfect country escape, the accommodation was faultless, our host Michael amazing, the farm was wonderful and the produce was above and beyond. Beautiful sunsets Whats not to like? It’s perfect
- Kylie (7/5): Great for a different type of stay - Interesting place to visit. Great to have opportunity to feed animals and learn about farm life. Nice to be out of the way and not hear the other guests. Breakfast was fresh from the farm and different. Staff were the correct amount of friendly whilst still running a working farm. Bed was hard and bread very stale for breakfast.
- Carolyn (10/5): What a place to explore the Barossa from everything you need for an amazing stay - Amazing we arrived to find a full fridge of fresh farm produce. And also a local bottle of wine and fresh sourdough. Our host Micheal was very friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Clive (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (9/5): Perfect base to explore the Barossa. - Great location, very peaceful. Provisions were plentiful and a treat to have such generosity in local produce. Well set up for 2 couples sharing with good privacy and spacious ensuite to each bedroom. Flies! But they are unavoidable at this time of year!
- Denise (10/5): Fantastic more than I expected. - Amazing place it exceeded all expectations.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (8/5): Lovely, clean and unique property. Friendly welcome and interesting tour of the working farm. Would certainly recommend v - Loved the unique setting within the farm and having a look at the pig feeding and milking of the cows. Certainly alot of work is done here. It was unclear whether we had the right cottage at first. Photos shown are a mixture of two cottages available. No extra sheets for pull out bed in lounge that I said we would be using.
- Ruth (10/5): Extraordinary, beautiful and spacious site, great host (Michael) - The very well situated location of Michael was very quiet. He gave us such a nice and warm welcome and we could even feed the calves. Super 🤩!
- Gottlieb (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Ruth (9/5): Relaxing getaway in a comfortable and stylish cottage in the scenic rolling hills of Lyndoch - What a delightful place. The cottage was stylish and comfortable and we loved participating in the farm activities. Michael was a generous and warm host. We appreciated the abundance of farm produce that was available for us to enjoy.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Exceptional - The paddock to plate, food, and seeing the animals.
- Romi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Soh (9/5): Superb - Host Micheal was really friendly and took time to show us his farm. He had provided us items from his farm for breakfast. I loved the clean toilet and heated blanket Properly need a non slip mat for the shower area as the tiles are slippery.
- Veronica (10/5): Great area, food and accommodation. Want to go again. - Loved the breakfast foods provided! Fresh bread, eggs and meat. Super yummy. The two main beds were very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to have a cook up. Staff were accommodating and went out of their way to sort extra food. Bathrooms were very clean/modern/good size. I'm very happy with stay- and hope to stay there again in the future. The sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable. Driveway was a little confusing (split twice which made it a little weird to get in and out) - might need to add some arrows to help direct customers one day. Now that I've been there, I know it and it doesn't bother me. It's more for new customers.
- Katrina (7/5): Great little farm stay - Great little farm stay, facilities were great and the produce that is provided was fantastic. A little bit on the pricey side.
Glass windows at the top, no curtains or blinds to block out light. Last night we were there there were lights left on from the nearby house that lit up our cottage so it was daylight all night.
- Janine (10/5): One of the highlights of our trip to Adelaide. We enjoyed looking around the farm and watching the cows being milked. - The cottage had a lovely ambience, it was clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The farm fresh produce provided was thoroughly enjoyed.
- Theodore (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location being in the country listening to birds on a working farm. Michael was very hospitable and the authentic refurbished farm building was very original and interesting to stay in.
- Damian (9/5): A great weekend away in a fun location. Would definitely go back. - Being on a working dairy farm, the location is quite quirky, but in a good way. The room was nicely appointed and the breakfast provisions and bottle of wine were absolutely delicious, a very nice touch. It's a little bit out of the main part of the Barossa, but not really a big deal.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, an experience in itself - most incredible produce provided for breakfast! Felt very spoilt by the owners
- Trudy (8/5): Very good -
- Davide (9/5): Welcoming farmhouse - Fantastic location. Beautiful room. Great breakfast products. Warm welcome by Michael and tour of his farm. Small issue with dishwasher and water pump, but no biggie, and quickly solved.
- Angelo (9/5): The Dairyman is a great farm experience with excellent accommodation and provisions. - This is our second visit to The Dairyman. We love the farm environment, the feeding of the pigs and watching the cows come in for milking. Being among the vines. We enjoyed walking through the paddocks up to the top of the hill. Beautiful views. Michael is a very friendly generous host. The accommodation is very comfortable and well fitted out. The breakfast provisions are just amazing... The sausages, ham and butter which are produced onsite, the wine from a local vineyard and fresh crusty bread makes for a feast! Highly recommend.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Very generous supplies were left for both breakfast and nibbles.
- Lynette (9/5): Awesome first farm-stay experience. - Very welcoming host, awesome farm & local produce provided for breakfasts etc. Able to explore the farm, see the milking, animal feeding etc. Location not far from anywhere with if the Barossa valley.
- Rebecca (9/5): Quaint and Private Bed & Breakfast - A farmstay - The Chaff House was cute, with all amenities/provisions as outlined.
The breakfast supplies were amazing and freshly produced, with plenty for quantity of nights stayed - we thoroughly enjoyed this.
The opportunity to watch the cows be milked and pigs be fed, was a lovely touch.
Michael & Alessandro were very welcoming and friendly staff. Possums scurrying on the roof.
An extreme amount of flies within the room and although you would spray or swat them, more find their way in.
Cleanliness of light fixtures and windows.
- Georgia (10/5): Wholesome and refreshing - The property was absolutely beautiful! Right in the heart of the gorgeous farm. You wake up and can walk out your door to the animals and vineyards.
The property was absolutely beautiful! Right in the heart of the gorgeous farm. You wake up and can walk out your door to the animals and vineyards.
The room was full of amenities and fresh produced provided (ham, bacon, sausages, bread, butter, milk, oyster mushrooms and coffee) by Mike.
Waking up in the morning and cooking breakfast with fresh meat and ingredients
Our area was private enough for a couple but close enough to access the farm.
There is cow milking & feeding you can attend and pig feeding.
Mike was more than accommodating and very kind.
- Robyn (9/5): Bucolic stay, with added farm experience, yet so close to Adelaide - A delightful experience on a true working farm, but with the comfort and privacy of a private cottage. Michael, Alessandro and Lina could not have been more welcoming. Bountiful breakfast offerings - directly from the farm and local businesses
- Cameron (8/5): Farmstay out of Lyndoch - Somewhat eccentric combination of well appointed unit amidst a working farmyard. The two bedroom unit was comfortable and well maintained with plenty of local farm produce generously provided to guests.
Host Michael was away but other staff made us welcome . Alessandro invited us down to watch afternoon feeding of animals. Barking puppies housed a bit close to our accommodation.
Need better screening against mosquitoes.
- Marissa (9/5): fantastic, a great place to rest at the end of the day exploring - Michael was accommodating and the extras in the room was great. for some people could be a little out of the way
- Dewald (10/5): Lovely, highly recommendable, would love to go again. - Lovely farm setting with a very friendly, caring owner. It was quiet, but with birdsong, occasional cow and dog sounds. Very well equiped accommodation with modern facilities. Able to wander around the farm, see cows being milked etc. Provided with almost all of the food from his own farm, to self prepare, incl eggs, bacon, best sausages and butter ever, bread, oyster mushrooms, buttermilk, etc. etc. Also has more to sell to take home.Even though travelled for work, I felt refreshed and recharged upon leaving. Nil
- Fulvio (9/5): Great experience. - Michael was an excellent host. Quirky out the way location, but not too far from some of the great spots in the Barossa.
Seeing the farm in action and enjoying the exceptional produce.
- Syd (8/5): Quirky and pleasantly memorable. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. - The people and the fact it was quirky being a working farm. The produce provided was exceptional and very enjoyable. A lovely wine included. Nothing really. Just a few light switches were not working and couldn’t get the wifi to work. But that was in some ways a pleasant thing.
- Chris (10/5): Wonderful farm stay. - The cows and pigs.
- Natalie (9/5): Superb -
- Pippa (10/5): Great stay on a beautiful property with excellent produce - The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The food provisions left were generous and so tasty- bacon , sausages, ham, eggs, chocolate frogs, butter, milk and wine. The 3 dogs were so friendly and would visit us at the cottage. It was nice to see the chooks running around, seeing the cows being milked and the pigs. My kid loved it. As a bonus there were also some newly born puppies and a hours old calf. Nothing
- Philippa (9/5): Superb -
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - We had a fantastic stay with Michael, who provided us with amazing produce that he had farmed.
Our 2 year old son had the best time seeing how a farm worked and seeing all the animals.
We were close to a huge array of vineyards, cafes and sights to go exploring.
- Pauline (5/5): Passable - The bed was soooo comfortable. Waking up looking out of the clerestory windows at the trees was delightful.
There was plenty of farm produce included to enjoy during our stay.
We were lucky enough to be there when the grapes were ripe for picking. It was lovely to stroll around the farm feasting on grapes. There was a very bad smell, probably from the milking shed - which was right next door. It was difficult to ignore. The shower needed a screen to prevent the water from going all over the bathroom floor which made it slippery and dangerous. Otherwise, it was a very generously sized bathroom with plenty of bench space for toiletries.
- Angelo (10/5): Beautiful location, very welcoming , comfortable and worth the visit, love to visit again. - Michael provided an excellent bacon, ham , exceptional sausages and milk from his farm produce. Lovely food and very generous portions, and he supplied a lovey red wine and cheese and sourdough bread for us as well. Nothing notable.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): everything was wonderful - needed to stay longer- thank you Michael - everything - well thought out design with every comfort. extremely workable kitchen as well as a very comfy lounge to sit on during the rain
very comfy beds nothing
- John (9/5): An educational farm experience plus comfortable accommodation! - Michael was an amazing host and made our stay memorable! All good!
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Really comfortable accommodation and so lovely to see the animals up close with our little ones. Michael’s produce (milk - Super friendly and informative host, comfortable accommodation, beautiful and peaceful scenery, delicious welcome hamper. nothing
- Ainsley (9/5): Beautiful quiet location to enjoy your stay while visiting the Barossa. - The food supplied for breakfast was outstanding. All from the farm or local produce. The wine was great!! The accommodations was clean and spacious with everything you needed. It was great to watch the cows being milked and the pigs being fed or just going for a stroll around the farm. Michael & his team were great hosts. It is a very peaceful place to stay. You will need transport to get around its a little out of town.
- Maree (9/5): Very welcoming friendly. Enjoyed all the animals - Great organic farm produce. N/A
- Cate (8/5): A great place to stay and see a bit of farm life in the beautiful Barossa. - The farm was delightful and we enjoyed watching the animals being fed and also the milking. The cabins are very comfortable and well equiped, with lovely large bathrooms, living room, private courtyard, comfortable beds and a small kitchen. The staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. The welcome food gifts were exceptional and very generous.

- Clair (10/5): Exceptional - rustic and gorgeous- the place was incredibly well equipped. very private and great farm made food in the fridge
- Hollie (10/5): Unique experience and beautiful surroundings. - The breakfast was amazing, such an unexpected by fantastic edition. The afternoon tour of the farm seeing all the animals and feeding was the highlight of our stay. The place was beautiful and all staff and owners were incredibly welcoming. Will definitely be staying here again and recommending to others.
- Karen (8/5): We had a wonderful stay, loved the farm and produce. - Loved that it was a working farm and could watch pigs being fed and cows being milked plus see chooks and dogs😊
The produce for breakfast was wonderful and loved that some of it was produced from the farm.😋 Lots of flies in the room, not sure this can be combated.
The bathroom isn’t completely sealed, ( space above door) could hear each other going to the toilet, not the most pleasant experience!!💩
- Bradley (10/5): Relaxing and fascinating farm stay with all the mod cons and fantastic fresh farm produce. - Great Location to visit everything the Barossa has to offer. Our host Michael was informative and very helpful and the food and wine left for our consumption was first class. The produce came from the farm and was so fresh and tasty and I believe award winning. Would definitely go back there for another stay. There was no soap for the shower but we used the shampoo provided.. Bathrooms are beautifully fitted out but beware the shower floor can be very slippery. Somewhere to hang the towels out properly because if you are staying more than one night they don't dry on the wooden standing rack.
- Maria (8/5): Very good - Location was great. Nice to hear the birds chirping each day. There were odours from cooking from previous booking which was unpleasant when we first walked in.
- Hannah (10/5): Farm animals and stunning views - Personable hospitality and warm, inviting and comfortable stay in the Barossa. Spoilt with extra perks from the farm including pork and dairy goods. Will definitely stay again.
- Jane (9/5): tucked away in dreamy countryside the property was relaxed, quiet and full of character - The properties are beautifully decorated with fantastic artwork and furniture. We loved the superb breakfast foods supplied including really delicious home bacon, eggs, butter and milk. We were able to explore the farm, feed the pigs and watch the jersey cows being milked. An idyllic, peaceful setting with walks and incredible views. Really hope we can go back one day. it was all perfect!
- Roland (10/5): Very nice experience! Go there! - Very friendly host. Extrem nice location, quite, "close to nature", you can hear birds singing in the morning. Very good and quality breakfast. Very large bathroom. Compfy bed. Nothing is missing! Go there and enjoy the time! From 6 motels/ hotels/ b&b this was definately the best experience on our trip so far! I cannot find anything. Well, no small businesscard available :)
- Giulia (9/5): Superb - perfect location for discovering the Barossa area, lovely farm with a lot of friendly animals to entertain the little ones. Micheal let us feed the animals with him and filled our fridge with delicious fresh produce from the farm
- Maggie (10/5): Super comfy beds and good pillows. The wifi was great. The breakfast eggs, bacon, homemade butter, cheese, bread, oats , - The place we stayed was very modern ,the decorating is fabulous. The rooms are spacious and ultramodern. They even had a Versace Umbrella 😆 Nothing
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashleigh (10/5): The perfect farm stay! - Michael was a welcoming host and very generous with sharing his farm and knowledge with us.
- Douglas (9/5): We had a great stay and enjoyed the tour on this working farm. - Fabulous breakfast provision which exceeded our expectations. Generous supplies of delicious homegrown produce. The cookware needs updating and the television was extremely difficult to get going.
- Phil (8/5): Very good -
- Manpreet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassandra (10/5): staff were all very friendly and helpful ,bent over backwards to ensure we had everything we wanted - restored and presented well nothing
- Sailasa (9/5): exceptional - everything none
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire..f (10/5): Exceptional - Was great to experience farm life, had such a great time being apart of the daily farm routine. The studio had everything you needed, including kitchen facilities, but still felt cozy. And it was amazing having fresh farm produce provided for breakfast and snacks. The location was prefect. Wasn't too far from the main attractions but still felt like you were all alone with the peacefulness.
