Guest Reviews
- Tanya (8/5): it was close enough to town to walk to breakfast. Plenty of fabulous eateries in a very quaint town - lovely outlook
- Emilio (10/5): -
- Anne (4/5): Photographs suggest lovely but pool and bathroom maintenance let it down - This is a beautiful location and the property photographs well. Bellingen is a really cute town which is a five minute drive away but a long walk. The bedroom and living room were clean. The garden was peaceful with excellent views. The shower was mouldy and unusable. The swimming pool was cloudy with algae at the bottom so was unusable. There was no Wi-Fi.
- William (9/5): - Lovely location and setting
Spacious accommodation
Got spot to star gaze on a night Some bugs and ants but to be expected given the location.
- Allan (8/5): - Peaceful and comfortable Ants!!!
- VICKY (7/5): Overall, we had a pleasant stay. - The view was lovely and the area was quiet. Disappointed that the pool water didn’t look that clear so we didn’t bother swimming. There was also a musty smell when we entered the living area.

- Rick Woodward (7/5): Nice place, Noisy neighbours - Bella Vista is located high up on a hill about one mile out of the village of Bellingen. It is in an isolated location (you will need a car!) with good views over the valley and is quiet and very pleasant. The path down to the property is very steep and for that reason we left our car just up from the property in the middle of an informal grassed roundabout. Our garden room apartment was large and well appointed. There was a kitchen lounge area with a couch, flat screen TV, fridge, hob, microwave, kettle, coffee making machine, and a good supply of crockery and cutlery. Next door the bedroom with a large double bed was a good size and made for a comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom had a toilet and a shower, and everything worked well. Outside on a veranda there was a table and chairs for sitting outside and enjoying breakfast. Just below the property was a good-sized swimming pool equipped with sun loungers and some tables and chairs. So, it was altogether a delightful place. However, when we arrived after 2pm our room was not ready and had clothes in it from other guests. Without the help of another resident, we would not have been able to contact the owner/manager to make them aware of this. (She did not answer her landline number and it was fortunate that the resident did have her mobile and could call her on our behalf). The owner was very apologetic, but it did take two hours to sort out. Also, the people who were in the apartment above us insisted on bringing a boombox down to the pool and inviting over a crowd of friends with children who were noisy and a bit inconsiderate. There is not much that the owner could have done about this, but it should make you aware that soundproofing in the property is not great and so an otherwise quiet spot may be disturbed by noise from other guests. Maybe we were unlucky in that our neighbours were both inconsiderate and noisy! When we arrived after 2pm our room was not ready and had clothes in it from other guests. - Anthony Paul (8/5): - Nice private comfortable spot The shower is a problem for people with mobility issues. My wife found it hard to climb over the fibre glass hub. Beautiful spot very comfortable but shower space needs an upgrade
- Kathryn (9/5): -
- Mike (8/5): very convenient and comfortable, location easy to access - location was great. space very comfortable for three beds and pillows weren't very good. Single bed has a spring sticking out and pillows were way too soft (appreciate this latter is a very personal issue).
- Susan (10/5): Beautiful: peaceful and relaxing. - The location, just a 5 minute drive from the centre of Bellingen was wonderful, high on a hilltop overlooking green valleys and tropical forests. The garden for the Garden Suite was fringed with palm trees, green lawn and overlooked the swimming pool. It was very quiet and private. We found it very well supplied with amenities for the apartment: kitchen, separate living and bedroom, air con, TV etc. We just needed a chopping board to protect the kitchen top.
- Colleen Allen (10/5): Summer getaway - The ambience amongst the trees. The birdlife. The spacious rooms and verandah outlook. The well stocked kitchen including rubbish bags, condiments and paper towel. The chairs on the verandah needed back cushions to sit comfortably.
The driveway is a bit tricky to negotiate in a large car between the palms, letterboxes, brick walls and driveway edging.
- Michael (10/5): It was so good that a two night stay turned into a four night stay. Think that says everything! Hosts were flexible and - Great location in a wonderful town. Very comfortable accommodation with an excellent outside space including a good sized pool. I couldn’t stay longer!!!
- MC (10/5): -
- Donna (9/5): Relaxed and comfortable - Clean and spacious Nothing
- Mandi (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): A great place to stay in Bellingen. - Very clean and comfortable and convenient. It was quiet with a pleasant outlook of trees and mountains in the distance. Michaela was very pleasant and helpful. Tea bags were provided but there was no ordinary black tea, only earl grey and other specialty teas. Luckily shops were still open so it was not a problem.
- Srikanth (3/5): - Nothing really Overpriced .Very tired and unclean
- Sue (10/5): Good location, spacious & comfortable apartment - Apartment was spacious, comfy beds, beautiful views, a short drive to town for dinner and breakfast
- Steve (9/5): -
- KERRY (2/5): Disappointed - Out of the way, terrible parking, not walking distance to cafes as advertised. No BBQ Pillows, lack of BBQ,
- Rachel (8/5): -
- Donna (10/5): Great for couples or family we will be back - Clean warm sunny
- Rae (9/5): Superb -
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Penny (9/5): Spacious accommodation with lovely garden outlook - Beautiful garden outlook and distant mountains. Spacious accommodation. Lovely patio area. Convenient parking. Very responsive hosts.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Very well equipped place to stay. Everything worked fine. Shame it was a tad soulless as it was self check-in. A 25minute walk to the town centre - uphill on the wAy back - the accommodation is at the extremity of the town. It was also a shame that there was not any cooking condiments etc - when one is staying for just one night it is a bit of a pfaff to carry salt, pepper, oil etc and not worth buying for just a night. The price is expensive but that is the price point of Bellingen.
- Lynette (8/5): Very good - beautiful view steep access
- Janice (9/5): Superb -
- Daryl (7/5): Adequate - Quiet Some parts old and dated. Eg bathroom.
- Rosalind (7/5): We enjoyed our time. Great view from the patio. Very quite apart from the wildlife. - Location. Pool. The wildlife and the setting. Plenty of room. TV in bedroom and main living area. It was quite Bedroom light switch was broken. One of the TV remotes was missing. Frig needed defrosting, freezer wasn't cold enough.
Fluff trap in dryer was packed solid. Driveway is very steep.
- Heleni (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (6/5): Nice stay - Large roomy house, lovely location Driveway to steep
- Jacinta (6/5): Pleasant - Property needs a huge renovation
- Jessica (4/5): Disappointing - It was in a nice, quiet area. The garden apartment had everything you need. The host was helpful and communicated well. It smelt badly of mould and was very worn.
- Shova (9/5): Superb -
- Sonia (8/5): Very good - Location Slightly tired
- David (9/5): Worth looking at if with a family or group trip. - Great view and location with a five minute drive to the centre of Belligen. There was an ensuite for each bedroom. The house could have done with a little more TLC.
- Andrea (8/5): Very good - This property was well kept but too far away from the town for our liking.
- Cheryl (6/5): Not value for what they charge, maybe that’s because it is Belligen - It was quite, and clean and comfortable It was very much out of the way to hard to find, driveway was awful
- Gavin (8/5): Very good -
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (8/5): Very good - The view and property were great
- Suzana (7/5): Good -
- Ray (8/5): Very good - We had the Garden Suite. Quiet position and beautiful outlook. Light switches were in very bad locations for the room and in awkward locations which made no sense, not next to entry or doors?
- Anant (8/5): Very good -
- Mick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (8/5): Nice quiet property with lovely valley views - The bedrooms were large and very comfortable. The linen was very clean and of good quality. The bathrooms were very clean and tidy. The wood fire was a lovely bonus. Lovely valley views from the spacious living areas and balcony. The property was of ample size to accommodate our group of four.
- Frouke (6/5): Quiet location. - Quiet & and day parking The bathroom is quite old & needs an upgrade. There needs to be proper heating (ie reverse cycle AC) in the living room / kitchen & the fake, dusty plants need to be discarded.
- Steve (9/5): Bellingen is a great base for exploring the area - Beautiful private garden and pool. Bellingen is real treat - lovely bohemian atmosphere and close to Dorrigo and the coast Quite small for three of us (including our adult daughter) but fine for couples. Kitchen was not well equipped for anyone planning to cook dinners - needs spatulas, wooden spoons, some serving bowls etc. That said, there are plenty of nearby restaurants
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Great accommodation in a nice location. The two rooms were spacious and the second single bed was very useful.
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stanley (9/5): Superb -
- Angel-face (10/5): Flawless in every aspect. - The hosts were warm and welcoming and accommodating, the unit was clean, spacious and fully equipped, the location was incredible and the facilities were amazing. This place is spectacular and I cannot wait to return. I cannot fault any part of my stay. There is nothing i can say to fault my stay here. Everything was head and shoulders above any expectation I had.
- Angela (7/5): Good -
- Neville (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Git (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (8/5): Spacious apartment, good pool - Spacious. Swimming pool very good. Entrance to drive was a problem (steep and hump at top of drive) with small car. Would be fine with large car.
Property decor fairly basic.
- Heather (7/5): Good -
- Paul (10/5): Lovely apartment in a great location - Had a fantastic 2 nights in the garden suite. Rooms were lovely and we made good use of the pool. Great location- easy to get into Bellingen centre and a short drive along Waterfall Way to Dorrigo National Park. Recommend the Wonga Walk rainforest trail.
- Sally-anne (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (8/5): Very good - Peaceful, tranquil and relaxing No dislikes
- Allison (8/5): Very good - Loved the Swimming Pool.
That there were two spacious rooms, lounge and bedroom.
Good communication with hosts with a text prior to arrival.
Bed was comfortable.
Lots of wardrobe space. Lounge smelt damp.
Rooms were dusty and needed TLC.
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Suzette (10/5): Thankful for the opportunity to stay is this stunning location and appreciate you sharing your home - We loved the location the views are amazing it is very peaceful and quiet enjoyed listening to the birds. A lot of thought and effort went into making our short stay very comfortable couldn’t have asked for anything better. The only difficulty was our little car didn’t like the steep driveway.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Violetta (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (7/5): Fabulous pool and views but the garden apartment needs refurbishment. - Fabulous location with great views. The pool area is lovely and tropical with lots of trees and birds. We booked the garden apartment which was spacious but basically a converted basement. It smelt damp even though hot outside and the bathroom needs a total upgrade. It was old and needing refurbishment but preferably replacing. We had a nice stay despite this as outside was lovely.
- Annette (8/5): Very good - Peaceful well equipped and in a perfect location to visit Dorrigo National park. We only had the Kookaburras and Rainbow Lorikeets for company. House had everything we needed and the slight problem we had with the fridge on arrival was dealt with quickly. Very pleasant stay. Thank you If you are an international visitor it is a good idea to let the host have an Australian mobile number so you can get directions to the property. It is situated down a small road and would be hard to find in the dark!
- Janet (6/5): It was good value for the money but I probably would not stay there again Host kept in touch via text and I felt I cou - It was quiet Driveway is virtually unusable for low car. Had to park at top of property slightly off road. Property is a bit dated decor wise
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Serge (4/5): Would not stay here again. - Bed was comfortable. Room smelled like mould or wet carpet. The property certainly not maintained as per photos.
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - The garden suite had everything we needed. We were only there for one night on our drive from Brisbane to Canberra but would have liked to have stayed longer. The driveway entrance down to the property is very steep. Do not attempt it if you are in a low profile car! It is safer to park at the top - it's only a short walk down to the property.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Hiroko (9/5): Quiet and comfortable. - spacious, comfortable bed and lounge suit, coffe selection is great.Quiet place. Staff is so friendly shower room is bit small and old, Car parking space was bit narrow in front of Garden view unit.
- Sylvia (9/5): Superb - Quiet, beautiful view over a valley.
- Dorothy (8/5): It was very nice - lovely setting. - Location was a beautiful spot. it was a little out of the way - but that didn't worry us.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - lovely garden apartment
- Geraldine (8/5): Very good - Quiet & comfortable A little tricky to get to
- Rajeev (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (9/5): Nina was a very welcoming host and made our stay very comfortable. I would definitely go back again - lovely and quiet
- Vicki (8/5): Very good - Older style residence that was very clean, comfortable and spacious with everything you needed for a short stay. Nina was very helpful and gave me information on the local area. Would stay there again. Nothing.
- Nicola (2/5): Smelly, Dirty, Noisy - The linen was clean. I hate writing bad reviews so I've been putting this off. We arrived at the property and scraped the bottom of our hire car on the World's Steepest Driveway. There were people on the driveway and there was garden detritus everywhere. The woman asked us if we had a reservation and if we had just made it recently as she wasn't expecting anyone today. I said I'd booked about two weeks ago, checked on my phone and confirmed I'd booked ten days prior. She said everything was ready and just to let ourselves in.
So we were off to a bad start but people make mistakes, these things happen, let's move on. If only!
The first thing I noticed on arrival was the smell. The whole unit had a horrible musty smell and the bathroom had such a strong smell (like bad drains) that we had to keep the door closed at all times.
I was exhausted and in desperate need of some sleep. They were still doing heavy-duty gardening (mowers, leaf blowers, noisy stuff) so I had to put noise-cancelling headphones on to get some sleep. At some point the owner texted me to apologise for the confusion and say they were all done and it would be quiet from now on.
There was a sign up in the kitchen area saying that guests were expected to clean up after themselves or there would be an extra fee. I thought, if they're making such a fuss it must be spotless. Nope! The glasses were filthy. I washed everything before we used it.
We didn't dare attempt the driveway again so we had to tackle it on foot - not ideal when when bringing back pizza and loading the car in the rain.
One of the weirdest/grossest things was in the bathroom - see photos. There were bits of masking tape (taped to itself so it stuck out from the wall) on the wall next to the mirror above the sink, and on that was a substance that looked like it could be wet coffee grounds or insect eggs. It could have been something else - I've never seen anything quite like it.
- Rosalie (9/5): Superb -
- Sujith (3/5): Poor -
- Kerry (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (8/5): Nice stay in Bellingen - Brief visit, booked for convenience to National park. Better to arrive in daylight as it’s quite windy roads. Easy drive back into town to restaurants and local pub. some nice shops too for the daytime. Room was decent, extra bed a little small. Everything you need in the small kitchenette. Owners friendly. Maybe mention to those in main house that there are people below, so they don’t run around upstairs!
- Hayden (9/5): Beutiful setting great host very comfortable stay - clean, spacious nil
- Jennifer (8/5): We had a great family stay -
- Hunter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): It was a short stay but would love to visit again. - Set in beautiful surroundings. Distance from the town.
