Guest Reviews
- Patterson (10/5): - Loved the room and history of the area provided by owners.
- Jeanene (8/5): -
- Eileen (10/5): -
- Ruthie (9/5): We would definitely return even though it's a bit of distance from sites we were interested in. - There were extra touches like having umbrellas for guests to use, offering a bag lunch for a small fee, use of the living area with the availability of making tea or coffee. I was taken aback by the request to add a tip to the bill. I've never stayed in a B&B that asked for a tip. I figured everything was included in the overall price of the room.
- Angelika (10/5): - Wonderful, clean, friendly hosts.
- Julia (9/5): - Breakfast was great, owners are lovely very knowledgeable about the history of port union The outside could use some sprucing up which I understand are in the works this summer.
When we first saw the home we were a bit taken back at curb side appearance
- Christina (7/5): We had a great time in the area with the board walk steps away Attention was given to our needs - The breakfast were cooked to order and very prompt
Deco in room and whole house was very fitting for the area
Great music playing while we had breakfast The front steps could use attention and maybe another chair in the room
- Catharina (10/5): -

- Nancy (10/5): Excellent - Wonderful times two! Surprised that a tip was requested!
- Ikumi (10/5): A cosy place run by hardworking couple in a historically fascinating town. - Quietness, cleanness, and a tasty breakfast. We also liked their policy of "no shoes upstairs." It keeps the premise clean.
- Zoe (10/5): -
- Mary (9/5): -
- Simone (10/5): Clean, comfortable and welcoming! - Tanya and Brad were very kind and welcoming, and had great suggestions for dinner in the area! The Inn is beautiful and our room was comfortable and clean.
Like the other reviewers, we have to shout-out the awesome breakfast...YUM! :)
- Craig (10/5): - Hosts were great, very friendly, very helpful with information about the area, breakfasts were amazing and the location was perfect for exploring the area.
- Dorothy (10/5): Great place, beautifully decorated rooms, comfortable bed, friendly hosts. - Nice dining room. Several different choices for breakfast, it was very filling and having toutons was an added bonus. Nothing
- Siyin (8/5): - The breakfast was hearty and generous in portion. The amenities were complete, and the room was spotlessly clean—you can tell the host puts great effort into maintaining the place. There’s also a cozy coffee area where you can watch TV or play board games. Overall, a very comfortable stay. The room had a small fridge that made two different noises at night, which was a bit distracting when trying to sleep. Breakfast was great, but the early serving time was a little challenging for us due to jet lag.
One more small detail ,we arrived fairly late and went straight to hike the Skerwink Trail. By the time we finished, nearly all the restaurants in the area were closed. We were quite hungry, having only had breakfast due to a day of travel. Unfortunately, our only option was to get some chips and Cheetos from a nearby convenience store. We kindly asked if we could use the kitchen just to boil some vegetables, but were told it wasn’t possible. While we understand the policy, the response felt a little rigid.
- Andrew & Candy (10/5): -
- Whitney (10/5): Best B&B experience ever!! - The breakfast was out of this world, Brad went over and above to give us the Newfoundland experience with a traditional Newfoundland breakfast
- Fern (10/5): Very enjoyable - Great breakfast! Brad provided a lot of interesting facts about Port Union. We really enjoyed his conversation.
- Emily (10/5): A wonderful, quaint stay hosted by a lovely couple. - Brad and Tanya were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We very much enjoyed the quaint town and delicious traditional breakfast!
- Pam (10/5): Lovely couple! Great value! -
- Riel (9/5): Awesome stay in quiet Trinity Bay North - Great location for visiting Port Rexton/Trinity and Bonavista, the oceanview room had an amazing view. Tanya and Brad are delightful and very hospitable. The lobby and rooms have a great atmosphere as well. Minor nitpicks only. The rules are a bit on the restrictive side. Breakfast time window was slightly early for us ending at 8:30. But if that's what works for them, I won't argue with it, the stay was excellent overall considering the price.
- Lisa (10/5): Excellent -
- Janet (10/5): - The hosts were very nice and breakfast was amazing. This was a great find.
- Caroline (10/5): This place is a gem! Highly recommend staying here. - The inn was beautiful and the room was comfortable. The breakfast was a wonderful and tasty experience. So much hospitality! There was nothing we didn’t like
- laurel (8/5): A very very quiet location - Loved the century home. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We were the only guests and the hosts live offsite. The old part of the town is basically a historic site that is being redeveloped. Lots of potential, but unexpectedly this felt like we were in a ghost town.
- Anne (10/5): This is my second stay and hopefully not the last. - The breakfasts were amazing. 3 good choices. Beds were very comfortable. Coffee station so you can help yourself to various coffees/teas during the day. Easy access to the Murphy pond trail and only 20 minutes from bonavista. I was surprised to have the option of providing a tip when I checked out. I don’t travel as much now so maybe this is the norm now.
- Michael (10/5): - Both Tanya and Brad were the best of hosts. Brad was an excellent chef. The breakfasts were astonishing, especially the traditional Newfoundland breakfast. Tanya even made lunches to bring with us for our hikes, sometimes putting in little surprises. They both did more than I ever expected. The location is perfect for visiting that area. The Inn was like home, very clean and comfortable. We removed footwear and left them by the door, just like home.
Thanks again. we will be returning.

- Gail (10/5): We would stay there again in a heartbeat. - Great service and accommodation was top notch.the breakfasts were delicious. Nothing.
- Carol (10/5): Love it! Close to Elliston and Bonavista as well. - The host, Brad, was great. He is also a chef and the breakfast was exceptional.
- Andrea (8/5): - Comfortable, clean accommodations right in the heart of Port Union and run by a lovely and welcoming couple. Breakfast was hearty and well prepared...and the toutons absolutely perfect! Be aware the bedrooms can get quite warm. Thankfully every room is equipped with a good fan.
- Dave (10/5): - Tanya and Brad are such welcoming hosts, and Brad makes the most elegant and traditional breakfasts anywhere. The rooms are spacious and modernized.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Monique (9/5): Convenient, comfortable stay near Bonavista - Beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean room with a fabulous breakfast (the owner is a chef). We were very pleased to be able to check in before noon (thanks for the flexibility) and feel that Brad and Tanya have thought of everything in putting this place together. It is simply lovely. Nothing comes to mind.
- Sergio (7/5): -
- George (10/5): Comfortable - Room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Nothing really

- George (9/5): -
- Linda (9/5): A good place for enjoying the Bonavista area. - Brad, who is a chef, fixed us the most amazing breakfast both mornings that we were there. He and Tanya were great hosts and told us things to do in the area.
Our queen bedroom faced the harbor which is very pretty.
Thanks for sharing your part of Newfoundland with us!

- Carol (10/5): - Brad was terrific. He was very accommodating to our arrival schedule. He was very personable and had printed out a list of local sites to see. Breakfast was excellent, serving local traditional dishes. The inn was recently renovated and had a very charming and traditional atmosphere. The location was across the road from the bay with seating and a boardwalk. No microwave
- Lacasse (10/5): -
- Theresa (10/5): Lovely place to stay and explore the area. Great host. - Interesting and comfortable older home updated to provide all modern convenience but still retained the original character.
The breakfast was outstanding.
- Jonathan (9/5): - Great recommendations. Lovely owners who were very kind and helpful.
- Wei (6/5): Not As Advertised - It is located near the water, and there was a nice breeze to keep the temperature low even without air conditioning. We don’t normally book B&B, and the reason we were here was because they advertised the room has “1 queen bed and 1 full bed”. Although it did have a queen bed, the “full” was a futon, which was hard and very uncomfortable to sleep on. After all, honestly should be the principle for running a business.
- Sandra Friesen (10/5): We very much enjoyed our stay in Port Union at The Harbourside Inn. - The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the whole experience was delightful. Port Union has some interesting history to explore, and the hosts of the Inn offer good suggestions for nearby attractions and restaurants. As Port Union is geographically located a short drive west of Bonavista and east of Trinity, it provides a good base for "home." We easily filled three days on the Bonavista Peninsula.
- Rolf (8/5): Ok, mehr nicht! - Frühstück war gut. Parkplatz vorhanden.
- Colin (10/5): Authentic old school bed and breakfast the way it should be. - This is a true bed and breakfast, the way it used to be. A gracious and engaging host, great breakfast, and a beautiful and comfortable bed and room The front of the house needs some attention and makes a bad first impression but you soon forget this when you see inside and meet the hosts.
- Ulrike (9/5): -
- Wah Lee (7/5): -
- Explorer On Tour (8/5): Charmantes, gut gepflegtes älteres Haus - Sehr freundliche Inhaber, sehr gutes Frühstück. Parkplätze direkt gegenüber. Kurze Wege nach Elliston und Bonavista.
- Tom (10/5): -
- Anne (8/5): -
- Rosemary (8/5): - Location was quiet and close to the major tourist attractions. Breakfast was very good with ample choices. The home was very clean and beautifully decorated. Nice sitting room with coffee and tea available for guests at any time. The access to the home is a little steep so pack lightly. Also a little bit of deck stain on the steps to the front door and some landscaping would give a much better first impression on arrival. My one big complaint is the $60 TIP that my sister paid as there seemed to be no 0% option only 15,20,25, and no total displayed on the screen of a very odd monitor. As she is from Ireland she paid as not familiar with the B & B billing here. I only saw the screen when asked for my e mail so was unaware of what had transpired until later. So along with the $15 we left for housekeeping on the bed the $434 total bill ,it became $499. I have e mailed the property for a refund but no money back yet . Said they would look at it .
- Lori (10/5): An authentic experience , never to forget - We loved the historical location .. A very traditional Bed and Breakfast , meeting other guests in the breakfast room . Beautifully decorated, modern comfort in a Vintage setting !
- Jason (10/5): This cozy bed and breakfast will make you feel right at home. - The location is wonderful for the many different activities around that area. There are several places to explore in and around Port Union.
The breakfast was heavenly and the host pays special attention to the details of your order. They even include a traditional Newfoundland bread - the touton- to give you an authentic experience. This place is wonderful and will charm even the harshest critic. We can’t wait to return. We liked everything.
- Alison (10/5): Perfect and peaceful experience of Newfoundland! - Beautiful house, super comfortable beds, wonderful breakfast - all in a lovely and peaceful town - very handy to hikes, puffins and museums! Nothing!
- Tom (8/5): - This attractive old house in the "ghost town" of Port Union has character and charm, and the owners make the effort to ensure your needs have been met. You will have to get back in your car if you want dinner, however (Bonavista is about a 20 minute drive from here). It's a beautiful part of the world.
- Jean (9/5): -
- Barb (9/5): Lovely B&B - Beautiful setting and home. Most excellent breakfast. Lots of steps.
- Linda (10/5): Lovely home with great hosts. Exceeded our expectations - Great breakfasts, comfortable bed and pillows, quiet.
- michel (10/5): Excellent déjeuner, très propre! -
- Rich (10/5): loved it and would recommend it. - Our host was warm and very helpful, guided us in our stay and the breakfast was wonderful.
- Joyce (9/5): -
- Marie (7/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): Pleasant! Welcoming! Do not hesitate to book this Inn you will not be disappointed. O - Everything!! Only wish we could have stayed longer. Owners are lovely, friendly, cordial people. Nothing
- Leona (9/5): Perfectly situated to visit Bonavista, Trinity and Port Rexton. - Very clean, comfortable. Nice common room to meet other guests. Owners very friendly and welcoming.
- Maltby (10/5): We were treated like friends - spoiled, really. The location is unique and less than 30 minutes from exceptional activit - The Harbourside Inn is lovely. Our room had a water view. I learned Port Union is Canada’s only union-built town and it celebrates and maintains its history. Brad and Tanya, the owners, maintain traditions too. They’re very warm and welcoming. The rooms are well appointed and super comfortable. There’s a living room with a small library, board games, a TV and a selection of teas and coffees guests can enjoy anytime. The breakfast is second to none. Bravo, Chef Brad! We were within a 20-minute drive to Elliston, where we saw the Puffins up close and 20 minutes to the Skerwink Trail, which Brad recommended - both were experiences of a lifetime. The Harbourside Inn is fully booked into the fall, so it was meant to be when we were able to secure a last-minute reservation when our current accommodations didn’t suit us. I’d recommend this Inn to everyone. Nothing.
- Emily (1/5): A last-minute cancellation with no real assistance is not acceptable hospitality - Lactation They cancelled my confirmed reservation with less than 24 hours’ notice, claiming a double-booking issue and asking me to cancel. There was no sincere apology or proactive effort to resolve the situation. I was left to handle it myself, at my own cost, with zero support from their end.
- Rickhey (10/5): Very nice stay - Everything Nothing
- Sheila (10/5): -
- Johanna (10/5): Traditional homemade Newfoundland breakfast, the best! - Copious breakfast; tasted our first traditional Newfoundland breakfast homemade by Executive Chef, Brad. Loved the Toutons. (Actually there were four menu choices). Spacious comfortable room overlooking the water. Just across the street from one of the GEODiscovery sites; fossils viewable at low tide. Tanya and Brad are friendly, efficient hosts. Would love to stay with them again.
- Qiang (10/5): -
- Erin (10/5): -
- Valarie (9/5): - Excellent stay. Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Chef/owner Brad served an excellent breakfast, with many options available. Had lots of advice on what to see and do in area.

- Diamond (10/5): Brad is awesome chef. They run a super clean home( he and Tanya) . The breakfast was awesome! - Lovely older home with tons of charm and personality. Kid hosts. Beautiful spot! Loved everything. The were kind yo accept us quite late.
- David (10/5): Exceptional place and people. - Special place and breakfast! Nothing.
- Danielle (10/5): - The breakfast was amazing! Brad was able to make me amazing gluten free breakfasts!
- Lickel (9/5): - The people were wonderful! Steps.
