• Martin (9/5): A beautiful and quaint home away from home. - The location is amazing, high up on the street leading to one of the town's chapels and the overlooking spots on one side, and the other view down the street, is of the towers of the town's main church. The setting is lovely, the rooms quiet, clean and beautiful. The owners built the house by repurposing roof tiles, doors, window panes, etc., from century-old homes in town, and adhering faithfully to the architectural style of the town. Just across the street is a lovely and quaint coffee shop (El Angel Coffee) with the incredible torta de almojábana, served in a garden setting visited daily by a family of wild turkeys. Next door to this amazing place, at least as of 12/25, is Gringo Mike's, a restaurant/bar business that, unfortunately, and following Colombian custom when holding social events, such as a wedding on 12/27/25, must play music and have a DJ speaking as loudly as possible. And since Casa Tierrarte's rooms are obviously not sound proof, it was as having the party inside our room during the length of the event. This is obviously out of the control of Casa Tierrarte's owners, and something to keep in mind when booking the place on weekends.

• Lauren (10/5): Great boutique hotel close to the main plaza. - Excellent experience. Hotel is beautiful and owners are very friendly and personable, always ready to help. Breakfast was delicious and healthy. Very close to the main plaza, yet, secluded enough to feel peaceful.

It has a great view over Barichara and beyond. The other rooms only overlook the courtyard. The house is one of the highest in the village. It's a tough climb with luggage... Breakfast was okay. Fruit juice instead of water would be a plus... As I said: Fruit juice instead of water with the breakfast would be a big plus...

• Rosanna (9/5): A lovely, private home in Barichara. - Beautiful, private home in great convenient neighborhood. The hosts Sonia, Julian and Fito were lovely and helpful. It took me the first night to get used to the mattress, harder than my regular one.

• Gabrielle (6/5): boutique hotel with onsite owners - carefully decorated space with many options for outdoor seating and lounging, including hammocks. breakfast was generous and served with care. the owners are onsite and are lovely people. there is a friendly dog. the location is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants as well as the main square. like a lot of Barichara it’s up a substantial hill, but Tuk tuks are readily available to go there maybe the other rooms are different but my room was uncomfortably hot until about 10 pm. also, the property is very secure but the doors to the rooms are flimsy.

The hosts are warm and sweet, very helpful and accommodating. I'd rate this place 11/10 above expectations. I'd definitely return when I visit Barichara again

• Yasmin (9/5): Superb - I had a wonderful stay at Casatierra. The house is gorgeous, it's a work of art in itself! The furniture is high quality and the details and finishing touches are beautiful and unique. It was a pleasure just to be in the house. The bed was very comfortable and, when the door and and windows were closed, it got very dark in the room - perfect for a deep sleep. The hosts were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. They also served a delicious breakfast :) I thought the location was perfect - close to the main square but far enough to be away from the noise. It's also next to some of the best shops and cafes in town, a beautiful church, the Bioparque and the start of the stunning walk to Guane. What a spot! I would definitiely stay there again :) There is hot water but it would go cold occasionally. It would also be nice to have side lamp next to the bed :)

• Ryan (9/5): Beautiful stay in Barichara - Such a nice place! Very good location and a beautiful property. The room was really nice with an outdoor rain shower -- such a cool touch! The couple (and their adorable dog) were extremely nice and helpful. I really enjoyed everything, but if I had to find something to criticize, I would say it's strange that the room had one giant bed and then two mini beds. I guess the property is mainly designed for couples and/or families travelling together, but nothing just for friends? Also, as nice as the place was, the breakfast was underwhelming and could be improved (it's basically the same breakfast you'll find in every guesthouse in Colombia...).
