Guest Reviews
- Howard (7/5): -
- Raph (9/5): -
- Megan (8/5): - Staff were very nice and helpful. Great location and breakfast included. Not the most comfortable bed, but for the price it was to be expected.
- Julie (10/5): -
- David (5/5): - Breakfast Outdated, not very clean, and musty old carpets, unstable floor boards in passage
- Nicky (1/5): We left after after being there about 15 minutes - Location Dirty, clothes left in cupboard, blankets thrown in cupboard not folded)no bathroom in family( no good for little kids) only two chairs for a family of 3. No cutlery or plates on the room.
- Luke (10/5): Perfect location for what I required it for. - Simple to get to. Excellent staff Nothing
- Catherine (6/5): - The location was great and it had free parking. The building needs some work, but it was ok for our purposes.
- Manoj (10/5): -
- Janet (8/5): Very comfortable. Safe and secure . - Staff very good and eager to please. Kept my room clean. Breakfast excellent. No complaints at all.
- Linda (1/5): Nicht empfehlenswert - Die Lage.
- Rennee (9/5): Great value - Needed a place to stay for the football on a Thursday night, staff were amazing and yummy breakfast. Such great value for money! Was a bit outdated but can’t complain, was a place to rest our head and was just what we needed for affordable accommodation
- Thomaskutty (1/5): Never choose this property if you want a good stay - The location , The beautiful description of the property on the website. I did not like anything. It was totally untidy, unclean, and unfriendly staff.
They just trap you into booking the property by showing all the beautiful photos.
- Rosefield (4/5): - I had to call the emergency no to get them to send the cook to do breakfast on a sunday...he came about an hour late. Others had called the same no but got no reply or no report back.
The building is poorly maintained... bathroom fixture falling apart, washing machine not working properly (kept repeating the rinse cycle) The booking site does not say that some rooms do not have a bathroom. Expedia quoted good rates but do not point out that they were quoting in $US, not Australian$... the 45% increase was only discovered at check in.

- JJ (5/5): - This was right next to trains. It was very noisy. Shower water pressure was awful. Bed comfortable. Location to MCG excellent. The Parking was not portrayed as difficult but it was off st parking for residents and parking lot only had approx 6 spaces. All gone by the time checked in at 5pm. Cooked breaky was good and luckily got there early as the food was all gone when other guests arrived after 8 am. Probably won't stay here again if we get another place. It was prob worth $ 120/ night Close to MCG and lots of cafes etc around.
- Sally (6/5): - Excellent location, friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Cleaning superficial.
- Anthony John (5/5): - Location Complimentary continental breakfast wasn't available when advertised. Had to leave without drink or eat.
Made a cup of tea in room however uht milk was off
.Door inside looked like a can of coke had gone off and strayed the door.
Windows were dirty and many cobwebs
Draps were frayed and aged looking
- Nikki (6/5): - The location is great and the hotel is good value for money. Broken furniture in room.
- Leanne (6/5): Only one night needed, it was good for that stay - Comfy bed, great location, bonus to have breakfast included. Mould and upkeep needs to be done for each room
- charnjit (8/5): I’ll do again - Cost,location
- Ingrid (7/5): - Nice omlet and snags.
- Birgit (8/5): Perfect location, close to the city but nice and quiet. Very helpful staff. Good value for money. - Location is excellent and close to tram stop and restaurants. Very comfy beds, love that breakfast is included in the price of the room. Have stayed here quite a few times. Nice quiet location.
- Scarlett (10/5): -
- Marshall (8/5): Good decent budget accomodation. Not fancy but who cares? It was clean and cosy. - It's a budget accommodation around happening events in the inner city. Its not the Hilton, but for the price who expects this. Its a dated but clean and cosy joint, somewhere to put your head for the night The shower was a bit tempermental but who cares... it came good after a couple of minutes and a decent shower was had.
- geraghty (10/5): - This gem has all you need. Yes it old but sheets, towels cups ect are clean. Beautiful breakfast included. Free parking but limited. Trams very close by. Love this charming hotel.
- Ben (7/5): Good value for money - Great location. Not very clean
- Alison (6/5): Great location, better cleaning needed. - Great location. Free breakfast which was an unexpected bonus. The bathroom was next level mouldy. There was no TV remote and no buttons on the TV so unusable.
- Lily-Ann (6/5): - Location to Aami park was great. For a one night stay. it did the job. Staff were very friendly and helpful. breakfast starts at 8am. Unfortunately we had an early flight so wasnt able to have any. Otherwise it was a good stay. Bathroom was seperate to our room. VERY dated.
- nadine (3/5): Doesn't meet expectations - Location close to mcg
Hot Shower
Upgrade to family room No Shower pressure
Hand basin tap not really attached
Had to go get milk then another trip for a spoon
Had to fill kettle by cup as no room under tap
Kept my deposit for a week even though they told me it would clear the day I left
Broken bed in the room and just very unclean
Parking very tiny yard
Pictures on booking looked better than reality
- John (3/5): Despite being so cheap, there's no way we would stay there again. - The position in relation to MCG and Tennis centre.
It's cheap
Shower pressure was really good. First time I've ever seen an ensuite 15 meters down the hall from the room. Yes, we were the only ones using the bathroom, but they need to make this absolutely clear that it is not an ensuite.
Outdoor furniture in the room for main furniture.
The whole place smells musky and is old and dirty. Obviously hasn't been cleaned properly for years.
The room door lock was so noise that anyone asleep would be instantly awake if someone else had to go down the hall to the bathroom.
Rear access parking had what looked like a car that someone was living in just near the back door of the hotel.

- Liene (4/5): - Overall it's fine for a short stay and everything is as you could expect for price and other reviews that you can read here. Received a call from hotel asking if I would be willing to switch from family room to queen room for 20 AUD refund. I agreed. It has been more than 2 months, several messages back and forth and have not received my 20 AUD back. Last message was almost 2 weeks ago saying that my refund has been released but there is still nothing in my account so somehow I don't have hope for those 20 AUD anymore. It's not about the money or room but the disrespect - it was their own offer but then something so simple as 20 AUD refund couldn't be arranged in more than 2 month time since my stay.
- Patricia (5/5): Passable - Excellent location. Room 6 had a great deal of mould in the bathroom.
- Rosefield (5/5): - Location It's a grand old building in a very poor state of repair. Common areas are not cleaned for days. Had to call the emergency number to get them to send the cook who was an hour late.
- Jennifer (5/5): - Breakfast awesome
Perfect location for football Building is old but beds clean and crisp
- Almarie (7/5): -
- Łukasz Zych (6/5): - Lokalizacja Brudne części wspólne (dywany, schody) drzwi od łazienki wymagają odświeżenia lub naprawy,
- ivesberg (7/5): -
- Wagener (5/5): - Location Small rooms
- Kellie (3/5): - Location was great, comfortable beds Rooms dirty, very run down, mould all through bathroom not good for asthmatics, asked for an extra pillow and they couldn't help with the request, breakfast buffet plates dirty, food cold and buffet equipment extremely dirty with baked on old food.
Spoke with other guests about mould in bathrooms and was a common complaint.
- Grant (7/5): - The bed probably needs replacing as it felt quite worn and sunken.
- Darlene (6/5): -
- Finch (4/5): - Outside looked nice Dust everywhere
- Jennifer (6/5): Suited my needs. - Breakfast and location were good. Some things need to be repaired.
- Patricia (7/5): Pleasant - Location Parking is limited
- Brett (7/5): -
- Leona (5/5): Cheap accommodation for Melbourne so wasn’t expecting much and I was correct - Location and free parking Cleanliness
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- mclayfield (8/5): -
- julie (8/5): -
- Male (8/5): -
- Leah (6/5): Did what we needed it to. - Close to transport and where we needed to be Although we were in the family room and had our own bathroom/toilet it is not in the room. This is inconvenient. Place is old.
- jennifer (1/5): I wouldn’t let the homeless sleep here - Location Everything, I have so many photos of the filthy place
Exhaust fan in bathroom, see photo covered in filth, no mattress protector, great for getting scabies, curtain in bathroom. See picture, so much dust and dirt, see photo, out front rubbish everywhere, wine bottles,
Laundry was a hazard, water leaking out from washing machines, it was full of storage and rubbish
Racks in. Ceilings and walls, shower couldn’t keep it’s temperature, suddenly hot then cold, glasses in room had smears all over glass, breakfast area, table was that sticky that after five minutes, your arms were stuck to the table.some breakfast plates had not been washed throughly with food bits still stuck on plate, bay Marie, only two hot foods were covered up, no napkins so were given a box of tissues, nil vacuumed in a lot of areas, this place was a disgrace, I stayed here 8 years ago and it was beautiful, absolutely a disgrace to let a place go like this, its heritage listed, Mayb previous owner should have thought very hard about selling to a foreign investment, who don’t care about the beauty of these buildings, we couldn’t find any where else to stay, I’m still in pain from they spring in my back.
- Barker (7/5): Georgian Court accomodation - Onsite parking. Location (especially for sport fans attending MCG). Good hot breakfast ( but a little variation would be a bonus). Outside garden neglected. Rooms a little run down e.g toilet seat not fixed in place. Hot water not reliable.
- Joseph (8/5): Great, affordable place to stay, they should put a bit more effort into cleaning. - Great value, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast selection. Little fridge, bed and a shower, I’d definitely go there again for the price. Place could do with a good vacuum, air conditioner didn’t work (turned on but didn’t actually cool the room), hot water took a while to start.
- Waters (5/5): -
- Tracey (5/5): Location was great but I wouldn’t stay where there’s mould again. - Location. Beautiful old house Mould in bathroom. Tv only had abc channel
Broken dirty curtains. Broken table inside door. Walls not finished being painted. Dirty lamp shade.
- King (2/5): If you can afford better do better. - The location. There was mould on the ceiling and in the bathrooms, the door looked like it was a part of a crime scene, the stairwell was not mentioned and my elderly grandmother almost didn’t make it to bed. She’s very sick and certainly the mould only made her feel worse.
- Dylan (7/5): -
- David (8/5): - Location. Staff all great and responsive to any needs. Bit more variety in the way breakfast eggs were cooked at Breakfast would be good. Was always just scrambled and I don't eat scrambled eggs. Otherwise decent variety of basic cereals, toast, bacon, Baked Beans.
- julie (7/5): -
- Wilhelmina (5/5): -
- Zammit (2/5): -
- Napatsorn (8/5): -
- Bazzani Fabio (2/5): Georgian Court Inn - Un posto terribile : vecchio, sporco, male odorante e maltenuto.
- Patrick (5/5): It’s alright for a short weekend stay for the footy. - Free breakfast is a big tick! Location to MCG also good. Outdated facilities! Bathroom sink stained and I reckon some of the place is falling apart. Floorboards need replacing! Front door lock also needs its battery replaced!
- Daniel (3/5): The location was good but rooms not cleaned very well - Not clean Location
- Trevor (4/5): - Walking distance to the MCG Place needs a good clean
- Simmone (3/5): -
- Simon (10/5): -
- Craig (9/5): - Location and price
- Krystle (7/5): If we are low on funds we will stay here..... - The location to Margaret Court Arena was perfect. The room had a broken bed with no sheets in it. The carpet was dirty and not vacuum. The bathroom was ok but the hot water only ran for 5 minutes and took forever to get started.
- Rory (1/5): - Friendly staff, central location Very dirty. A very old and tired property
- Narelle (5/5): You get what you pay for, in this instance. - The breakfast was okay. The bacon was a bit chewy. The bed was comfortable and had adequate bedding for the late summer temperatures. Location is about the only real positive here. Close to the MCG, and bus, tram and train stops, and approx 10 minutes from the city. I wouldn't want to touch the drapes or the spare blanket. Cleanliness is a huge issue here. While the floor of the rooms appear vacuumed, the stairway and behind the fridge and bed were laden with dust. It's a very old building, there are cracks, peeling paint etc. The old furnishings are tired, dirty and dusty. The place desperately wants some love! I stayed in the deluxe queen suite. The room is depressing, the balcony is old and dirty, the furniture is very well worn. The pillows were hard and the rooms at the front will hear people coming in and out through the front door. The staff don't care and it almost feels like you're troubling them.
- Sandra (5/5): Comfortable bed/ convenient location - Bed was clean/ comfortable
Location was perfect for MCG Spa was disgustingly/ very dirty, needed a good clean.
Was no cold water in sink , couldn’t take my morning tablets.
Blanket in corner not folded just shoved in there.
Also was having coffee in bed watching tv@7am when my door clicked with fob an someone opened it, when realised someone was in there closed it again🤦♀️
Scared the living daylights out of me.
They were checking in to my room, HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN…..
What if that was night before a room was dark, they would have just come in…..
- Katrina (9/5): Comfortable, great location - Easy location and nice staff Cleanliness and marks on walls and older style rooms that needed attention needed a bit more of a clean
- Bronwyn (5/5): Ridiculously overpriced for the long weekend. Not value for money - The location to the MCG and neighbourhood feel of the area.
Free parking and breakfast. It was very rundown and needs some serious maintenance .
- Andrew (9/5): Great value for money in a perfect spot - The location is amazing, tram and bus stops within walking distance! The beds tended to slip off the base when getting up, and the shower head was leaking while in use
- Amber (10/5): - Really great customer service and they were really welcoming Well the only thing I didn't like was the stairs
- Cindy (9/5): Great location for East Melbourne activities. Clean and comfy. - The location was perfect for my needs. I was able to catch public transport almost right to the door. It's not modern or upmarket, but it's a lovely location and the room was clean and comfortable. I didn't lock the door properly at first as the lock was a bit tricky to manage. Very secure once I worked it out and locked it though.
- Agnes (7/5): - everything you need, but old and some parts dusty. beds and bathroom was good. staff really nice and helpful. should be renovated. very good location and stay in total good. parking and breakfast included. a bit cleaner ( under beds, microwave...), cutlery, plates and toaster would be great in room, should be renovated.
- Declan (1/5): The worst hotel experience we have ever had - There was not a lot to like about this property unfortunately We recently stayed at this hotel for two nights and paid $700, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
Firstly, the cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. There were cobwebs in every corner, which made it obvious the room had not been properly cleaned in quite some time. The carpet was absolutely atrocious, looking dirty and worn to the point where it made the whole room feel unhygienic.
There were also maintenance issues as soon as we arrived. The bathroom tap was broken, and the shower temperature constantly fluctuated between boiling hot and freezing cold every few seconds, making it almost impossible to shower comfortably.
The worst part of the stay happened in the middle of the night when the smoke alarm in our room started going off. What made this even more concerning was that it was only our room—none of the other rooms appeared to be affected. My understanding is that hotel smoke alarms are usually hard-wired into the building system, so the fact that only ours was sounding immediately raised safety concerns.
I called for assistance, and when someone finally came to address the issue, his behaviour was extremely rude and unprofessional. He walked straight past my partner and me without even acknowledging us, then let himself into our room without saying a word. When he finally spoke, he blamed us, claiming the alarm was going off because we hadn’t opened the window.
He then removed the smoke alarm from the ceiling and took it out of the room entirely, which only confirmed our suspicion that it wasn’t properly hard-wired. This left us feeling very unsafe for the rest of the night, as we had no smoke alarm in the room at all should there actually have been a fire.
Considering the price we paid for the stay, the dirty room, broken facilities, and extremely poor handling of a safety issue, we feel this experience was completely unacceptable. We expected a much higher standard from a hotel charging these rates.
- Jaanika (6/5): - Voodi oli mugav.
- Gordon (6/5): Good place to sleep but it is very old and does need an upgrade - Good location to the mcg precinct The place is rundown and is due for an upgrade, it is good if you are looking for somewhere to sleep and you intend to be out all day everyday.
- Joy (6/5): This accommodation is fine overall; however suggest checking other options. - My room was spacious and comfortable, availability of off street parking, easy walking distance to a range of eateries, parks and health services (my husband was an inpatient at St Vincent Private Hospital) Staff member on the front desk was quite non communicative (could have given some directions to find my room as it wasn’t obvious), train noise due to close proximity to rail line.
It is overpriced to other comparable accommodation in the same street.
- Terri (8/5): -
- wee wah (3/5): Was advertised with breakfast option but wasn't available. - The experience of a 200 year old building Cleanliness is unexpected of anyone that would call itself a hotel.
- Judith (5/5): -
- Leigh (4/5): Old boarding house - The location was perfect, and having parking out the back was a bonus. The staff were nice. While the bed was clean the bathroom was mouldy and one of the taps in the sink didn't work. The shower was coming apart and the water temperature was hard to control. There was a thick layer of dust over everything that isn't used often.
In the hallway the floorboards under the carpet were loose.
- Bell (8/5): - Location, close to public transport and all the arena's
