Guest Reviews
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Kim (7/5): Good - Breakfast fair. Building very nice. Roomy rooms Stairs
- Mike (7/5): Great location but could be a lot better with enthusiasm from the staff - Location only Lack of communication between ourselves and the staff due to lack of English
- Christopher (9/5): Comfortable, good amenities - The caretakers were friendly, breakfast was good. Location was excellent. Nothing
- Sandra (9/5): Great place to stay! - Handy location in a beautifully renovated terrace with lovely appointments. Light breakfast provided with good options and a nice sitting area. Nice toiletries and fluffy towels. Easy to navigate to, and close to the centre of town with eateries close by. Great shower too. No top sheet! The bottom sheet was average and the cover/pillow cases were ordinary.
- Justin (10/5): Central location, quiet street, clean rooms. - Central location, easy walk to great restaurants. Breakfast options are simple but adequate. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and part of the feel. No reception staff but breakfast staff helpful.
- Paulina (2/5): Ok - The breakfast was ok They had trouble understanding Everything in English
- Simon (10/5): Sehr zufrieden - Super Lage, direkt im Zentrum, nettes Personal (spricht aber kein englisch), gute Kommunikation mit Code fürs Zimmer, Parkplätze, Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis super. Zimmer sauber und sehr grosses Badezimmer.
- Denise (9/5): - Room size and bathroom were great. Breakfast selection lovely. Nice location. Easy to locate and a warm room, with the air conditioning going.
- Angela (9/5): Loved the location, the room was beautiful and had a private verandah - We loved the location, absolutely wonderful for a holiday on foot. We were able to walk around Launceston from this spot. We upgraded our room after one night, which was very easy. I don't think there was much breakfast provided, very limited baked goods.
- Nick (9/5): Value for money and perfect for our one night. - Excellent location. Basic breakfast but good. All good
- Mary (10/5): -
- mike (1/5): the roomw was not available due to damage -
- Paul (10/5): Great clean and tidy centrally located venue. Only down fall was hosts did not speak English so communication little tou - Clean and tidy Hosts did not speak English
- Lynne (4/5): Will never return or recommend this place to anyone. - Good position close to the city centre. The reception sweets were nice. The freezing cold room when we arrived mid afternoon. The fiddly door access on both the front door then on our room door were very touchy and difficult to use with arthritic fingers, no heating or hanging space in the bathroom water from the shower covered most of the floor. Staff watching to make sure we cleaned everything away after our breakfast, there was so much that disappointed us I could keep going!
- O'Grady (6/5): - Location, lovely building. No top sheet, cheap doona. Who wants to sleep under a donna that who knows how many people sleep under. Don't need their sweat on me.
- Mike (9/5): - Clean comfortable and central location Off street parking was difficult and hard to access. Fortunately the street parking was accessible however you had to pay for it
- Scott (4/5): -
- Peter (7/5): Good location. Lacking value for money - Close to city centre and points of interest Using a code to get into both the front door and a different code to get into the room was something of an issue as having to get the numbers from email or text, QR code would be better, also breakfast was lacking any substance really very basic, if you did not like grain bread then???
- Kiran Vincy (9/5): Clean, cozy stay close to Launcestons major dining precinct. - Completely contactless access to hotel and rooms using smart locks. Well appointed rooms and ensuite. Coffee machine available in room. Great location, walkable to lots of dinings places. Breakfast provided. Couple running the bnb don’t speak much English but tried hard to communicate via translate app, appreciate the effort. Breakfast was a bit lack luster.
- Kayleigh (7/5): Good. - Clean, central location, priced well Lane way parking quite tight, free parking in front of property starts from 5:30pm not 5pm as per sms
Limited continental breakfast. No non dairy milk options
- Absharina (9/5): We had a pleasant stay - We had a pleasant stay here. Perfect walking distance to the city central and our room was surprisingly quiet despite bring close to a major city road. The street felt safe for us to walk at night and breakfast was good enough. It's not a negative, but if I could suggest an electric heated blanket for the beds, it would be a great addition for cold Tassie nights! :)
- Laura (10/5): - Friendly staff, available on short notice,
- Paul (6/5): Average won't return - Property was close to everything Large cracks in walls older styling room was not topped up coffee towels in three nights was leaving at 10 knock out door at 10 I said I'm just looking for wallet then I leave as soon as find wallet she looked at her watch and showed ten figures more or less saying time to go
- George (8/5): Good overall but disappointing breakfast. - Clean and close to services. Breakfast was stale croissants and hot cross buns.
- Jane (8/5): Character stay - Quiet area yet easy walk to Mall. Lovely breakfast/lounge area. Squeaky floors ... it's a very old building with lots of character. 😆
- CAROL-ANN (8/5): - Location was good Self serve breakfast was average
Bathroom door handle broken
Noisy environment inside and outside
- Chamberlain (8/5): very comfortable, easy to access. stylish room. - location was close to the city centre. access to the room was easy. first time using key codes. showed up on email in plenty of time. i liked the style of building. I don't have a bad thing to say . I think it was great value for money.
- Angela (8/5): Great location - Good location. Comfortable stay. The staff weren't very friendly or helpful.
- Cook (8/5): -
- Fiona (6/5): - Large room and position to Launceston CBD Bed linen a little worn and no top sheet.
- Vander Linden (8/5): I would come again. - Breakfast was fine. Kitchen had no sink and I was unsure what to do with the dirty dishes, so I put them in the bucket beside the counter. all good
- Schmidt (9/5): Loved our stay at Refresh 109.Highly recommend - THE LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT. IT FELT LIKE HOME AWAY FROM HOME. A GOOD BASIC BREAKFAST PROVIDED.THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL. I LEFT SOME BELONGINGS BEHIND AND THEY WERE PROMPTLY POSTED TO MY HOME...EXCEPTIONAL Nothing to report
- Craig (8/5): -
- Shirjal (10/5): -
- John (9/5): Worth staying there - Quite a well presented and comfortable boutique hotel. The room door lock didn’t give enough time to input the code. Three fails and you get locked out for 15 minutes.
- Mick (6/5): Awkward set up OK but not recommended - Central Like a hostel- basic
- Jarrell (8/5): - Room was of a good size and the place is generally quite clean. Beddings were generally comfortable. Located in a convenient location
- Desley (5/5): Very disappointing!! - First and foremost I must say this is a bed and breakfast establishment, not apartments or a small hotel…..
Secondly, the ‘Hosts’ do not speak a word of English! Any interaction is done via a translator app on a mobile phone! Not an ideal situation if you are looking for local information or assistance of any type!! Not something I would expect within the tourism/hospitality industry……
The location was excellent- close to Launceston CBD shopping precincts and a variety of restaurants and bars. The location was very quiet and peaceful and easy to find… parking rather awkward but was doable! We parked and then either walked or used ride share to get around!!
Cleanliness was good although rooms are not serviced / replenished daily. Bathrooms very spacious and newly renovated….
Our bed (Room3) was reasonably comfortable but very low to the floor making it awkward to get out of- maybe an addition mattress base or a higher mattress?
No bathrobes or drying racks in the rooms despite being listed in room amenities….. Included breakfast was disappointing….. not enough yogurts/ juices in the fridge and questionable milk one morning! Once again, no assistance from the ‘Host’ except to chastise us for taking an apple!
All in all I was very disillusioned with this whole experience as I booked what I believed to be superior plus accomodation based on previous reviews, amenities descriptions and photos on the site and it was far from that!
I hope the owners accept these comments as constructive and take them on board………
- Ken (6/5): Good location however noise and facilities poor. - Location. Modern. Noise from street if in front rooms. Poor continental breakfast. Kettle and fridge in room only and not a kitchenette as per description on Booking.com.
- Shonnay (9/5): Nice and comfortable - Good location Parking is an issue
- Nancy (8/5): -
- Fi Camo (9/5): - It was nice, room size was good as was the bathroom Bed was low and strange bedding - no top sheet just unusual
- Jo (4/5): Bed was rock hard and probably wouldn't spend the extra money to stay here again. - Location was excellent. No hot water on the first night (had to take a tepid shower) and while it was rectified on the second night, there was no discount or other acknowledgement of the inconvenience.
- Robert (6/5): Novel accommodation in the centre of Launceston - Nice, quiet location but still central to Launceston Felt like a B&B
- Penny (9/5): Comfortable Guest Rooms in a Great Location - Great location, lovely rooms, very clean and comfortable beds. Quiet rooms and nice and dark for sleeping. A beautiful terrace home converted to a guest house. Basic continental breakfast. Short walk to the Mall, Cataract Girge and waterfront. Lovely hosts allowed us to store luggage after flights were delayed. WiFi was hit and miss, but that seemed to happen in a few places across Launceston, so maybe something else was causing this.
- John (9/5): - Continental breakfast was good. The apartment was very clean. A wider choice of cereals would have been good.
- Suzanne (1/5): Disappointed in this stay. We felt like back packers and not a romantic couple. Room 7 was terrible, old, outdated, unat - Not much to like about the property apart from bed being comfortable to sleep on and cozy blanket which I’m thankful for that of the 2 nights I was there. Lots my partner and I didn’t like. We felt disappointed the moment of arrival, car park a squeeze on back of building so didn’t bother. Parked on front, thankfully it was weekend and after 5 or it’s not free parking at front. Then there was an awful system of scanning your hand on a pad for a code number you had to type in on entry door, I couldn’t figure out how to do it at first and being night, it locked me out - only gives you 3 attempts to type and then locks you out for 15 min. We were stranded outside at night of arrival with another couple trying to get in too. was cold. Eventually the owner came to let us all in who does not speak English. We were given Room 7 on ground level which also had the locking system on door, a different code number for your room. Upon opening our door to room we were both disappointed. What was supposed to be a romantic weekend turned out to be like a backpackers weekend. The room had a stench smell, was small and outdated. Bed was comfortable to sleep in but outdated too, unattractive duvet bed cover and unattractive painting on wall to look at. Light fixture above us was ugly to look at too. The bathroom door not shutting and no screen doors around shower, was completely open so big puddle on floor when having showers. Small basin, only cane shelves beside it to put your toiletries on. Toilet was weird too, high to sit on for my legs (I’m 5ft 3), and black toilet seat, just looked strange, old look to it.
- Julie (9/5): Good value modern room with nice breakfast area. Free parking was great - Modern room, large bathroom, nice breakfast room, good location
- Dawn (7/5): Nice enough place to stay - Clean & close to town The staff didn’t speak English
- Anna (8/5): All in all, a good stay in Launceston. - Clean and fresh rooms together, easy check-in and safe, quiet but yet central location. Shower water pressure could be better.
Continental breakfast was very basic and the bread was a bit stale.
While acknowledging that the staff on site was elderly and non-English speaking (and that is not the problem), we still need to point out that they were hovering in an rather odd way when we were trying to eat breakfast and getting ready to leave (between 8.30-10am). The cleaner was basically just waiting for us to vacate our room from about 9am, being outside of our rooms repeatedly, which was actually quite annoying as it’s a small hallway and we kept stepping out to a person hovering outside our rooms. We hardly carried our bag out before he was in to clean (before our checkout time). It was hard to get around the small breakfast bar with a lady standing there watching our every move, literally standing in the way of us trying to get breakfast. Perhaps ask them to give guests a bit of space in the morning? It was somewhat intrusive.
- Pamela (8/5): We would stay here and would recommend it. - Location was great! Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was modern and clean. Good TV but couldn’t find ABC iview or SBS On Demand.
Lots of choices for the “continental” breakfast (but no marmalade). No hooks in the bathroom to hang anything on.
The two staff we met didn’t have a word of English.
The paintwork in the bedroom was a bit shabby.
If you stay two nights I think the tea bags, etc should be replenished.
- Roy (10/5): -
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Jahangir (6/5): - Location, room and specially bathroom. Breakfast was not good. Staff doesn't speak English at all.
- Marian (10/5): - Was walking distance to everything comfortable clean, breakfast available good value 👌 Can not find any fault
- Debra (7/5): Good location, nice bathroom. Self check-in worked well. Had a bit of a hostel vibe. - Good location, 15min walk to centre and to Gorge walk. Bathroom was clean and good size - good shower. Felt more like a hostel than expected. Staff on site rarely seen. Breakfast was basic. Bedroom could do with new bedding and a freshen up.
- Brendan (9/5): I had a great stay at Refresh109 on Cameron and would happily return on my next visit to Launceston - The location was very central and convenient, walking distance to the CBD. Nothing
- Tara (8/5): A handy quiet place to stay. - Very handy to everything, a pleasant walk to riverside bar/cafe/restaurants and easy access to Cataract Gorge. Great bathroom facilities.
- Kristen (8/5): - Loved the tall ceilings and big spacious room and bathroom. Very relaxed and homely feel to the place. The narrow stairs up to your room.
- Peta (10/5): -
- Jodie (10/5): - Lovely room, comfortable bed beautiful clean and modern bathroom . Wonderful location easy walking distance to every thing you need. Great value for money and quiet room
- Kalina (8/5): -
- José and Jan (7/5): A nice room in a great location - We enjoyed our stay at Refresh109. It is located very close to the town centre and we hardly had to use our car.
The room was basic and a little small, but tidy and clean! Breakfast was a real bonus and set us up for the day. A nice area to catch up with other travellers A more straight forward way to enter the building and our room. The security locks require a fast entry of the digits which result in several failed attempts. Also some fault on our part where we didn’t include the hash key at the end. We found it to be fiddly and had to stay in the lobby for 15 minutes on one occasion before we could try again. A tad annoying when you really want access to your room after a long day.
The apartments on the street-side of the building need blockout curtains in our opinion, we found the room too light at night time
- Nina (10/5): - I loved the shared space. Having a place to sit and have breakfast with other travellers was great. Got to meet some lovely people. My only issue was the door to our bathroom was a little fiddly.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Nigel (9/5): Great place to stay in Launceston. - The property is walking distance into the centre of Launceston, close to shops, restaurants, bars and the Queen Victoria Art Gallery. The room was quite spacious and quiet, being at the back of the property. The bathroom had a double sink vanity and plenty of space. The building has been nicely restored in a heritage style with modern decor where appropriate. The communal breakfast room and lounge were a real bonus as we made friends the other guests. The owner’s parents, Chinese elders were friendly and helpful. The mattress on the queen bed is thin and should be replaced. Moving around on the bed was noisy, resulting in disturbed sleep. A hand held shower head would be an improvement in the bathroom.
- Sally (8/5): Would happily book and stay again. Longer next time. - Exceptionally clean, well appointed. Great facilities for self catering and breakfast cereals well set up. Room 7 downstairs was comfortable with easy in and out access. Mattress lumpy- needs replacing.
- Daryl (5/5): Just adequate. - Room and bed were adequate. Staff interaction was poor. Bathroom door handle was damaged on arrival and I nearly got locked in. Breakfast could have been better.
- Gail (8/5): -
- Ross (8/5): - Location to the city. Parking was problematic. Limited hanging space for clothes. There was only 1 mirror.
- Brian (8/5): - Reasonable area, room quite big, but being a senior, the stairs were a bit daunting. Continental breakfast OK. No reception, have to access by codes. I suppose that's a sign of the times. Parking a bit tight & first in first served. No top sheet on bed.
- Judy (9/5): Ease of accessing with a late check in was great. Quiet, clean and available parking is awesome. The bed was so comforta - Great location and most comfortable bed Bathroom floor must be on a slope, water pooled away from the shower
- Jo.E.H (7/5): - Central Parking was hit and miss if you could snag a spot.
Hard to communicate with staff who didnt speak word of english
- Wendy (8/5): - Great Location Parking was an issue
- Manon (5/5): - walking distance to everything Staff does not speak English, of Chinese descent
No double bed, only twins
- worldly (9/5): Excellent stay in Launceston - Excellent location,
Very clean,
Well fitted out,
Staff very helpful
Great facilities.
- Trevor (8/5): Comfortable @ clean, that served its purpose to our stay at Launceston - Very clean & comfy bed Parking can be a problem. Breakfast was average
- Robert (8/5): Satisfied - Good breakfast location central Bed to hard and short
- Pamela (8/5): Great location and comfortable quiet room - Location was great, easy walking distance to shops, cafes and restaurants. The accommodation was part of an older build with beautiful stained glass panels over and near the entry door. Room was quiet and although bed was very low, comfortable for sleeping. Although breakfast was basic continental, it was quite adequate. The cost over a 5 night stay was very reasonable. The limited English of the staff led to confusion on a number of occasions. The booking we made and paid for was for a room on the ground floor however we needed to go upstairs. The room description probably needs rewording as most of the features mentioned were in a communal area, not in the room.
- Chi (10/5): Happy trip. Unforgettable. Will return again. - Convenience. Close to city centre. Clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful. If the breakfast provides more varieties, it will even better.
- Gail (10/5): So pleasant & relaxing . Wifi great. Simple breakfast. Gallery fantastic across the road . Easy walk to the gorge. - Location was excellent . Easy to walk to all the sights. Very clean & modern. Nothing.
- Susan (10/5): -
- rob (8/5): Central location, nice decor. - Decor. Large rooms. Easy, leisurely continental breakfast. Minor maintenance issues, broken floorboard, door lock onto private balcony not working. Room not serviced for 4 days but no trouble requesting things like more toilet paper.
- Simon (9/5): - Limited free parking.
- John (9/5): Lovely accomodation. Would stay here again - The property was well located and very clean and comfortable. Having to remember two different codes to get in was a bit of a pain.
- Delyth (8/5): Comfortable stay in heart of the. city. - Easy walking into city, parks and gorge. Lovely hosts that spoke very little English but used Google translater.
Breakfast was continental with everything you could want for. Parking was easy! Nothing
- Yan (7/5): -
- Pera Bergman (8/5): 109 on Cameron - We requested a room on the ground floor and it really helped that this is what we got. The staff were helpful with Google translate and the place is located well. Matress too soft...
- Bee (5/5): Budget accommodation in convenient location. - Large room, comfortable beds, good bathroom. Parking. It was very dirty round the edges. Only superficially cleaned.
Breakfast was meagre.
No staff around.
- Eileen (9/5): Great for a short stay - Location. Cleanliness. Helpfulness of staff Nothing
- Garry (6/5): - Location was excellent. Only three parking spaces available and limited space to turn when parking.
Entry to the building was via a seven character password and similarly entry to the room also required a different seven character password. Not easy to remember.
- Heather (10/5): -
- Frederick Potter (9/5): -
- Derek (7/5): - It was quiet and very close to the centre of town. We could walk to everything we needed. The walk up the stairs with full cases.
- Judith (8/5): Great Location handy to restaurants and shops. Nice comfortable unit. - Location was great, breakfast very good. unit was very comfortable and facilities were fine.
Comfy beds and bathroom was good. All good
- Jose (3/5): Breakfast was in dirty containers it was put on a counter with find whatever you can because no one could speak English - Good spot easy to check in all sent by text No one seemed to speak or understand English
