Guest Reviews
- Jim (10/5): We'll definitely be back! - It was such an inspiring space to stay - private & quiet. Nicola is wonderful host. Nothing - it was fabulous!
- Parth (10/5): Magical! - Be&be is a dream! I've worked in hospitality consulting across the world, and this property is on par with some of the most stunning addresses out there. It's private, eclectically designed, beautifully located and a dream to stay in. Nicola was exceptionally communicative and helpful throughout our stay. I can't wait to be back <3 Everything was perfect! Couldn't fault a single thing.
- Jess Sejean (9/5): A beautiful retreat - The property was beautiful, and studio two was tucked away at the back and felt like it's own little bush retreat. The studio was gorgeous - beaufitully designed and thoughtful architecture and styling. The studio is due for a proper dusting - it was generally clean, but morning light is unforgiving, and we could see lots of dust has accumulated on the walls and the interior screen slats.
- Bec (10/5): - There is nothing I can say but it was the perfect place
- Peta (10/5): Everything we wanted or needed was totally catered for and would recommend and stay again - Ample supplies for breakfast, with coffee pods, various teas, fruit, fresh bread etc
Location was perfect able to walk everywhere
Funky studio 1 exceeded our expectations and the shower was amazing

- Claudia (10/5): -
- Kellie (10/5): - Beautiful accommodation in the perfect setting. Generous breakfast supplies. We'll definitely be back.

- Damian (10/5): From the initial sms from Nicola to provide detailed directions to us saying goodbye, it was an amazing stay that we are - Beautiful location and private. Could not have been happier with the place. Couldn’t fault it
- Sachini (10/5): - It immediately blew us away as soon as we walked in the door. The place is gorgeous, so cosy and comfortable. Nicola the host was absolutely lovely and made sure to check in prior to our stay to see if we needed anything and to provide instructions on how to access the property. There was also a delicious loaf of sourdough, yogurt, granola and spreads, which was the perfect amount for breakfast for a 2 night stay. I would love to stay again! N/a
- Coyne (9/5): Impeccable - Beautiful venue, the service was impeccable and the location was close enough to walk where ever we wanted to go. Both properties were beautifully styled and felt luxurious. The little extra touches that Nicola included were so thoughtful, from the food to the tips for the property to bringing over extra serving ware. Our youngest especially loved exploring the property, jumping on the trampoline and making friends with the chickens! Overall, a wonderful stay.
- Shawn (8/5): Beautifully designed restful abode - It’s a beautifully designed place and perfect for unwinding. Very quiet, very easy to relax. The kitchen has everything you need, and Nicola was quick to respond to any questions. We had a great stay. A couple of things could be improved. One of the chairs in front of the TV looked great but wasn’t very comfortable. There was nowhere to hang jackets near the door. The fridge felt a bit small for a longer stay. Power points near the bed were hard to reach. And it would have been handy to have a small manual juicer.
- Bill (10/5): Highly recommend be&be for a special occasion or well earned break. - Stunning location with magnificent hill top views. Close to town and easy walking distance to all of Castlemaine’s attractions and amenities.
Studio Two and the landscaping around it were clearly undertaken with great passion and skill; bespoke timber and metalwork inside and out, with lots of big windows taking advantage of natural light and views make the place delightful. Nothing to dislike.
- Peter Ikin and (8/5): - The location, design and furnishings were all fabulous! Studio one was a pleasure to relax in and beautifully and tastefully set up and well equipped.
We loved the succulent garden and had to resist taking cuttings! The bed was too soft for my fragile back, so on our wedding anniversary I had to sleep on the couch/ sofa!
The breakfast supplies were adequate but a little disappointing and limited. The milk was out of date and curdled in my coffee. We hoped to be offered local apple juice, plain yogurt, free range eggs and quality jam or marmalade. The coffee pods were not great so bought better coffee and our own supplies. The bread, muesli and butter were all OK.
But we understand people have different tastes
- Jolene (10/5): Lovely stay, a great last few days of our holiday. The host was available and helpful when needed. - Secluded and very relaxing accommodation and garden surrounds, yet close to town and facilities. Well equipped, made for a very comfortable stay. Nothing.
- Allan (10/5): -
- sarah (10/5): Relaxing in a very stylish and chic setting, with beautiful gardens and nature. - The gorgeous styling and overall charm. My young daughter absolutely loved the trampoline!
- William (7/5): Calm and Detached - Location Lovely setting, calm and peaceful Windows are sealed shut which means no fresh air, unless you have the doors open, and lack of adequate cover on them ensures you will wake up in the morning at 06.00 sharp. It’s very Zen and minimalist, although well put together with a lot of wood and space, high ceilings and a rocky garden full of trees and birds. While the owner communicated with us well via the booking platform, with nobody to say “hello” (which itself is rare in country Victoria) we may just as well have stayed in an AirBnB. Though we stayed for two mornings, we had juice for two people for one morning, but otherwise the breakfast options were lovely.
We brought our cavoodle with us for which we had to pay an extra ‘cleaning’ fee of $50. Although the property owner assured us as dog owners that Studio 2 is fenced off and safe for dogs, it’s not; it’s partially fenced off. This meant we were not able to relax and let our dog wander around. Unfortunately the next door neighbour has erected a large sign that glares at you through one of the windows declaring in no uncertain terms that “Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted “. While we loved the location (it’s only a 15 min walk into the town so we chose to walk in for dinner on both nights, rather than take the car), once you leave the well lit property much of the walk is in the dark - we needed our phone torches. One of the reviews we read has said that this property is good but needs some tweaks to make it great and we agree totally with that.
- David (9/5): Rustic & comfortable. - A apartment with loads of rustic charm & very comfortable.
- Clayton (8/5): Beautiful place, just a few tweaks would be 10/10. - Style, location, owner, decor Bedding, privacy and light blockout, breakfast
- Louise (9/5): Beautiful property, wonderful location. - Beautiful property, loved the ‘little touches’ like the robes & the breakfast provisions. My partner worked from the studio during the day - such a lovely location to spend a day in front of a laptop. Easily walkable into town. Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Exceptional quality, quirky landscape, historical atmosphere. - Historical buildings and site, clever and stylish interior design.
Warm and cosy interior ... beds, shower, and amenities were ideal.
Location on top of a hill and sun movement throughout the day. Nothing to dislike.
- Danielle (9/5): Beautiful space with a lovely host! - The property was beautiful, tastefully furnished and felt like an oasis. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Given the time of year and the building being so solid and concrete it was pretty cold. Luckily there was heating on both levels.
- Carol (10/5): Great location and very modern facilities -

- Hayley (10/5): Exceptional -

Nicola is a lovely host and very approachable if necessary .
- Sally (10/5): It was great place for my sister and I to share a few days. - Everything!
It greets you with a ‘Phew! This is great ‘
Not overcooked but it has charm, the Turkish floor rugs, a few interesting bits and clever use of space. Plus an inviting garden to sit and share a meal.

- Paula (10/5): Very comfortable and relaxing - What an amazing place to stay, interesting, warm and comfortable. Great reading spots. The beds was amazingly comfortable and linen was high quality. Lighting in bathroom a tad dull to do make up but not a deal breaker.
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Absolutely excellent - unreservedly recommended. - Everything about be&be exceeded expectations… I enjoyed a wonderful week there and left wanting more! Only the sensitivity around the floor surface.
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marline (9/5): Superb -
- Punkin (7/5): Good -
- Marc (8/5): Lovely getaway on a picturesque hill side. - The interior of our property was very calm and relaxing, and the perfect feeling for a weekend getaway. The surrounding garden is also beautiful. All the little touches were much appreciated.. Not a huge fan of memory foam mattresses. Rolling over in bed feels difficult. Also, the amount of frost build up in the freezer made it impossible for us to store chilled goods while we were away.
- Renehan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fleur (10/5): The dwelling is wonderfully located, spacious and an interesting artistic space - There was plenty to eat with fresh fruit included It was fine, though I do like protein for breakfast, e.g. eggs
- Milica (9/5): Nordic Feels! - Staying in Studio Two feels like you’re in a Scandi/Nordic spa! Beautiful property and great proximity to the centre of town!
- Anastasia (10/5): Excellent! - Complimentary sourdough and local produce on arrival, gorgeous interiors, super comfy bed and beautiful views!
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - We enjoyed our stay very much. The room flows beautifully and the elemental, functional design enhanced the experience. As a gardener who keeps chickens and bees, it was a joy to wander around the dry garden, amidst many mighty gums.
The test is always "would we come back?" A resounding yes!
Mark
