Guest Reviews
- Mary Eileen (10/5): The location, the sun-filled apartment and warm hospitality made for a wonderful stay! - Everything was wonderful from the time I arrived right off an international flight, much earlier than check in. Elise greeted me, welcomed me into her family home which is right above the apartment. Offered me something to eat, drink and even a coat since it was colder than I expected outside. Her hospitality, plus breakfast basket, recommendations of where to eat, and the adorable comfortable sun filled apartment were all great! We loved our stay! Also the location is great right along the canal. Nothing comes to mind.

- Katharina (10/5): Lovely B&B in a historic setting - Thank you for a lovely stay in a beaut little B&B. A quiet location close to the city center. You can tell the heart and soul Laura and Arjan poured into making this place a lovely home away from home. Wonderful breakfast and flexible adaptions. We felt very well looked after during our stay and had a wonderful time.
- Charlene (9/5): Extremely comfortable, 15th century treasure walking distance to downtown. - Unit was comfortable; beautifully maintained and updated for a home built in 1657. It was a treat to stay in such an exquisite property. All of the essentials were provided. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood that wasn’t too far of a walk from the downtown. The rain shower was especially nice. No breakfast served before 0830. We like to get out the door before then to see the town or take a tour.
- Markus (5/5): Very nice if you don‘t mind noise, need no view and no open windows during the night. - The landlords were very friendly and helpful. The interior is very nice and designed with passion and an eye for details. You have to be aware that it‘s a souterrain/basement room with two tiny windows that can’t be opened. To let in fresh air you have to open the door that leads directly to the street. That is not mentioned in the description.
Also there‘s a lot of noise presumably caused by the water system. And as the landlords live directly on the floor above, you hear every step.

- Rosalie (10/5): Realeneiland B&B shows the guest what true Dutch hospitality is. - Laura and Aryan were superb hosts. They were a font of information and ably directed us to the proper transportation to the places we wished to go. There are some excellent restaurants within easy walking distance of the B&B, and taxis have no trouble finding the house. The breakfasts were tasty and healthy with great bread and fruit and the minibar was well-stocked. Money well spent!! Sometimes the street noise intrudes and the entrance steps a very steep.
- Chris (10/5): A great intro to Amsterdam in an historic building in a great location. - Great location near light rail. Good size. Very comfortable bed. Exceptional rain shower. Very nice hosts. Sumptuous breakfast.
- Stephen (9/5): Highly recommended B&B in quiet and convenient area with wonderful hosts. - Very nice basement apartment in a quiet, yet convenient residential area facing a small marina. The hosts, Arjan and Laura, are wonderful and helpful people. The breakfast was good and enough food, with croissants, juice, eggs, and fruit. WiFi was strong. Good restaurants within easy walking distance. Only 15 minute walk to the train station and river ferry, and 2 blocks to the tram downtown, too. Only a km or so to the Jordaan area over peaceful walkways.
Arjan and Laura arranged a discounted taxi from the airport, which was helpful to get there. No problem for us, but people with mobility issues should be aware that the steps down into the basement are a little tricky, with a low railing and short steps.
- Patrice (10/5): I will highly reccomend this place -
- Julia (9/5): Delightful hosts, and accomodation, with quick access to the main attractions. - Very generous breakfast and the hosts were more than happy to answer questions and make arrangements for Taxi's etc. The location is within walking distance of local shopping and bus transportation.
- Susan (10/5): Our stay was excellent and we hope to return one day. - Having a separate, private apartment. Very spacious with separate bedroom, living room, dining areas. The hosts were extremely accommodating and kind.
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent and hosts were super friendly and accommodating and went over and above to help us out - much appreciated!
- Stephen (10/5): Lots of walking along the canals with beautiful scenic views and lovely food. - Walk in shower, good size open plan lounge with dining table, useful kitchenet with fridge, kettle and sink.
Short walk to city centre but not too short. Host was very friendly and helpful, advise on places of interest and restaurants.
Provided a lovely continental breakfast each morning. Staff in all the cafes and restaurants were very friendly with excellent service. Museums were all booked out, only doing online booking, which were booked out for weeks in advance. In hindsight we should have book months in advance of our visit. Streets would be difficult to navigate if you had mobility restrictions, need to watch out for cyclists.
- Anonymous (10/5): We’ll definitely book again if given the chance! - Excellent, quiet location outside of the city center yet convenient to many locations by foot with tram and bus easily accessible.
Excellent hosts and delicious breakfasts. They went out of their way to help in any way possible and were responsive to any requests. The steep Amsterdam stairs could use some light at night, and the low bed was a bit tight on space.
- Louiseking (10/5): Great weekend Stay - Lovely b&b..very spacious living room, comfy bed and walk-in shower. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They put birthday banners out to make it extra special. Breakfast was delivered to the room each morning.
Will look to stay again back again at this little gem in a great location. Nothing

- Anonymous (9/5): A quaint B&B with wonderful host and hostess, in a quiet and relaxed part of Amsterdam. - The location, warm greeting on arrival. Historic and charming building. A microwave would have been very handy.
- Giedrė (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything about our stay here: central, though quiet location, charming historical building, comfortable apartment facilities, breakfast basket every morning and, of course, welcoming and caring hosts! I think it’s one of the reasons we loved our trip to Amsterdam so much! -
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Angie (10/5): A wonderful stay in Amsterdam! Absolutely recommend! - Our accommodations were almost perfect! We were very fortunate to get a last minute booking as the hosts had just received a cancellation. Arjan and Laura were so warm and welcome! The breakfast that arrived every morning was top notch! Fresh croissants from the bakery nearby, soft boiled eggs, cheese, fresh fruit, juice and cappuccinos. The apartment was very comfortable and the attention to detail was greatly appreciated! They even had postcards of their picturesque neighborhood and mailed them for us (complimentary). The location was quiet but very close to City Centre and the bus to the Centraal station was just a few blocks away. I’m am an Airbnb superhost and was able to chat with Arjan and Laura about their lovely accommodations. I picked up a few tips from them as well. As a previous review already mentioned, the rain shower was awesome but some shelving for soap and shampoo would be helpful. Nothing else really. Definitely book this apartment if you are lucky to find availability. Actually, I would even move your vacation days to get the pleasure of staying here!
- Anonymous (10/5): Laura was warm, welcoming and made my stay like a sanctuary. lots of personalized touches and an extravagant breakfast b - historic location away from the masses in the city square. excellent restaurants and neighborhood it was ALL exceptional!
- Jenksy (10/5): Enjoyed our stay very much, Laura and Arjen are excellent hosts. Nice continental breakfast as well. - very comfortable and very clean and location was excellent for walking into town Nothing
- George (10/5): A memorable unique experience! Highly recommend! - We loved everything about the property. If you’re looking for a unique experience book Arjan and Laura’s island home build in 1647! The location is terrific. We walked to restaurants and were also treated to a boat ride to a restaurant which was special. Absolutely nothing. Great breakfast, two TV’s, terrific shower. Cute little apartment. Couldn’t ask for more.
- Laura (10/5): A B&B that makes you say Gezellig - We were greeted warmly from the start. Arjan and Laura treat you like family. They helped us with transportation, dinner reservations, and directions. And what a beautiful breakfast: Delicious cappuccino, fresh-squeezed orange juice, freshly baked croissants, a perfect soft-boiled egg. Plus assorted cheeses, breads, and fruits. Our little apartment was comfortable and cozy. Our bed very comfortable. And the amazing rain shower! We had an early flight out of Amsterdam, and to our surprise, they were there with a send-of of cappuccinos to go! If I have to come up with something, let's see...how about a soap dish for the shower? Seriously, we have no complaints.
- Joanne (10/5): fabulous - The hosts were so nice snd helpful. the property felt safe. good neighborhood. great french restaurant nearby there were two posters that were very odd to me. perhaps younger people would have liked them but I did not. the property would be better without them.
- Alison (10/5): fantastic property, good location opposite a canal and really friendly and helpful hosts - the property was really private and a nice and quiet location not too far from the bustle of the city centre.
fantastic comfy bed, lovely sofa and kitchen area and large tv would have been useful to have a microwave as day 2 we were on an coach trip all day and picked up some bits at the supermarket and ate in the apartment instead of eating out - would have been fab to heat something up, instead we had breads, cheeses and ham etc
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mims (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect!! Hosts were the best!! Great location!
- Anonymous (10/5): Amazing! - Fab hosts , excellent accommodation, loved the personal touch.
- Joanna (10/5): A perfect place to stay as a couple. Laura and Arjan are friendly, warm and informative hosts - The breakfast was plentiful and brought in a basket to the rooom every morning by Laura. The location was perfect for our needs - in a quiet, picturesque neighbourhood among little islands in the canals - but an easy walk along the canals into the city centre. The room is in the basement of a typical tall Amsterdam house - you have a kitchenette/living room and a comfortable bedroom with a great rainfall shower room, all done out very traditionally in dark wood - it felt very homely.
- Bryan (10/5): This is a great place to sed Amsterdam from the inside out! - Lovely people that have a fantastic property. location was great for us and our interests nothing
- Jack (10/5): This is a great place to stay In Amsterdam, better than a 5 star hotel. - Great location and Laura is an incredible host.
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katy (9/5): very nice, relaxed and wonderful hosts - The lady who was greeting us, as the owners were away, was absolutely lovely, so friendly, helpful, warm and inviting. We loved the basket of goodies for breakfast which was a really nice touch and loved, loved, loved the shower, it was the best shower I have ever used. little walk into the busier areas of Amsterdam. Overall a great stay. if you are sensitive to noise (We don't mind) you can hear footsteps upstairs and the little air con box by the front door can make a noise sparodically and the stairs to the apartment are small and steep. However this did not let it stop it being a wonderful property for us. It was a lovely place to stay.
- Juliana (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, they received us very well!
The room was huge, and the bed so comfortable, all clean and sparkly No complaints. It was perfect! We could do everything walking, and the bus stop was closer in case we needed it
- Chris (9/5): Excellent. - The breakfast was lovely and we had more than enough for the 3 nights we stayed. The local area was lovely and quiet but still not too far from shops and other things like Anne Frank House and nice places to eat. The apartment was also lovely, no complaints from us.
