Guest Reviews
- Meryem (1/5): Very dirty apartment with extremely poor hygiene standards. I discovered a mouse inside the room around 4 AM and could n - Nothing
- Aneta (7/5): - Great location, close to the centre or trams, shops and restaurants nearby. No spoons or mugs.

- Valerija (10/5): - Very good location and so comfortable bed. Easy check in.
No i największym plusem jest cena i jej stosunek do jakości.
- Dimitri (1/5): Terribile - Esperienza inaccettabile. Chiavi assenti all’arrivo: oltre 1 ora e mezza di attesa. Appartamento senza asciugamani né carta igienica. Trovata persino biancheria intima degli ospiti precedenti: pulizia inesistente.
Assolutamente da evitare.

- Guest (4/5): - The stairs a crazy steep to climb in the start of it, and it is on the top floor. My girlfriend and I felt it was super dangerous and we had little warning ahead of time. Warning about it.
- Bulut (1/5): Nie wieder - Nichts
- Mariateresa (2/5): -
- Khoda (3/5): - The location was good. The stairs to get in was very difficult to use which didn't make the experience great to be there.

- jd (10/5): OK -
- Paula Andrea (8/5): - Buena ubicación, cama cómoda Escaleras muy empinadas, el baño tenía mal olor
- Neil (2/5): Shocking. - Nothing It was so very dangerous to get to the apartment. I appreciate they said it was the fourth floor, but it was hard to even put half a foot on a stair and the stair rail came away from the wall. I only had a small back pack and could just manage the stairs. Someone with a suitcase couldn’t do it. Someone will fall down the stairs and sue bookings.com. I expect a refund and anyone I tell about should get a full refund for cancelling.
- Andrew (5/5): This is - Clean room. Location decent. Absurdly steep stairs - 4 flights, essentially a carpeted ladder - almost impossible to hoist even carry-on luggage up. No shampoo, shower soap, or coffee - delivered later after a complaint. No host on hand for arrival or checkout - none of this expected when reading booking information. No older travelers should consider this facility.
- Cath46 (1/5): Don't do it! Read the reviews - It was clean apart from a musty smell from the bathroom and suspected bed bugs. Location OK, but there is a noisy bar across the road. The stairs are ridiculous and dangerous. Not only extremely steep at 1 in 2 and narrow treads, but the carpet was worn and loose. One handrail was loose, and in several places, it didn't extend around the corner. At the very top, we crawled on hands and knees to get onto the landing as it was so scary. There's no way we could have carried our cases up the stairs. 2 local men helped us. A light was out on one of the landings.
The shower is so weak that you could not wash a decent head of hair.
One of the blinds wouldn't stay down on the skylight.
It's not twin beds as stated. It's 2 single mattresses in a double bed frame with 2 single duvets.
No wardrobe, no clothes airer, no iron.
The fridge is a beer fridge that does not stay cold enough in warm weather to keep perishables like milk.
Complaints to the owner/ agent will be met with derision.
- Sue (1/5): Bad - Amsterdam is beautiful lots to see Told steep steps but wasn't prepared for 4 flights, this place is a fire hazard and an accident waiting to happen. The room we thought as it stated twin room would have single beds but didn't, there were no cups the mirror in bathroom way to high up, all in all wouldn't stay again.
- Linsey (1/5): Make sure you take out life insurance!! - Terrible. The bed was broken. No tea making facilities, no iron. Public hair in the drawers. The blinds don't work, so on full view to the people in the buildings opposite. The stairs are like ladders. It is very dangerous i had a bad leg to these stairs and are very dangerous even to someone who is well. If you fell down, you would break your neck. I will never stay there again. No reception was very hard to find. the key code was wrong. Terrible experience.
- Lojyn (7/5): Good - The location of the neighborhood is so good but the hotel was hard to find no sign outside, the rooms are decent but the stairs was a nightmare.
- Reece (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maxwell (8/5): A very cosy stay, everything you could need provided in the room and an perfect location! - The location was awesome! Everything you could possibly need right on the same street. Only a 10 minute walk to the centre and the shops and streets on the way made it feel like 5! There was a slight smell coming from the drains in the bathroom, but nothing you couldn’t live with, I would also assume the amount of rain we had didn’t helped either. But other than that it was perfect!
- Reece (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aron (6/5): It's okay, but you have to be fit to climb the stairs. - The room was kind of like a hotel room, but a bit bigger. Things were clean. The location is relatively central, it's a few stops both from the Central Station and from Leidse Plein. The stairs. If you come with a large suitcase then you will have a hard time carrying it up and down. My legs are still sore after almost a week.
- Cinnamond (8/5): Fantastic. Value for money - The bed was comfy and en suite. Privacy was good. No noise and close to everything that was needed The stairs but was to be expected
- Alex (5/5): Faulty Tower - Comfy bed and spacious room. Good location. Host was quick to respond to queries. Stairs to the room were comedically steep and thin, definitely not for the unfit.
Shower / Bathroom had an awful smell when I entered the property initially. Shower gel would've been nice.
Microwave but no kitchenware
Kettle and Nespresso but no mugs.
Host didn't send check in / check out details.
- Kalle (9/5): Title - Good location
Deene was nice
Great mini fridge
Comfortable bed
Supermarket next door Shower floods the whole bathroom which can be a little impractical
Stairs were very steep but you do get used to it quite quickly
- Lisa (8/5): It was really nice for the price and location. - The stairs
- Péter (4/5): Far too expensive for what you get for it. Room does not look like what offered on the photos. - There was no soap or anything to wash hands with. The room we booked did not looked like on the photos much smaller and under and side of the bed very dirty the floor. Shower head is fixed with tape which should be changed not fixed. For what you get is far too expensive!
- Natia (5/5): Passable - the bathroom lacks the toiletries and the smell is not barrable and spreads in the room as well. outside is the bar and since there is no conditioner and you have to leave windows open, the noise is almost until the morning.
- Samantha (1/5): Booking here was misleading and disappointing. We are sad not to be able to get a refund, which is desired, because we n - It was clean. I did not receive notice about how steep the stairs were and the fact that the room was on the fourth floor until I had already paid and almost arrived. It news nearly impossible to get up the stairs with luggage safely. Once up there fire exits were not marked. We did not end up staying because we did not feel safe.
- Katie (7/5): Value for money bit far from city centre - Good price and was surprisingly spacious and we got to experience more then just the city centre Smell from the bathroom smelt like gone off egg, no new towels or amenities throughout the stay, no shampoo or soap
- Wai-yea (3/5): Overall, the room was clean but I would not be returning to this BnB for safety reasons. - Property was clean. Although we were made aware of steep steps, a picture would have assisted to determine whether this BnB was appropriate for us. It was extremely dangerous trying to bring luggage up to the top floor (4th floor)which was the attic and then bringing the luggage down when we left. The steps were extremely narrow and one would have to go up and down these stairs sideways. There was a railing for support however, this was not available when the stairs curved. One would have to use the wall with one hand and use the other hand to hold the post to assist with coming down the stairs until the railing was reachable. This was extremely dangerous when we were trying to carry our luggage down the stairs.
Although there was a picture of the fire exit plan, the only way to exit the building was to go downstairs. Being on the 4th floor, one could not access the roof to safety if the fire started from below floors. There was only one out of three windows that opened in our room and the one window that was accessible, one could not climb out as there was no ledge.
The entire toilet area was a wet room and not partitioned so if one needed to use the toilet after a shower, the entire toilet floor area was wet and extremely slippery. This was an accident waiting to happen.
I emailed to query about an iron being available and it was confirmed that this was available however, there was no iron in the room.
- Reece (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the place now view only thing is the stairs but there fine tbh so definitely be coming back
- Carla (7/5): Good - Goed
- David (8/5): Very good - The property can be reached from the Centraal rail station or Dam Square (and other key locations in the central city) is about twenty minutes of walking. Having a map will show how to use diagonal streets to cut the walking distance. The property is on the #3 tram line (nearest stop: about a block away), so the city's frequent and extensive transit can get a guest around quickly. (Day passes for transit are priced at 9 euros at present.) You need to realize that the rooms are four stories above street level, reached by narrow staircases only. (To bring up two suitcases, I had to make one trip up each story per suitcase; the steps are too narrow to facilitate both suitcases being on the steps at one time, though the landings do have enough space.) I never met any staff, though I was able to access the key and coordinate my departure without staff being at the same spot at the same time as I.
- Wolfram (4/5): Disappointing - no hot water
- Mallikarjun (7/5): Good - Comfortable and clean room, great location. Staircase (more like ladder), bit run down and old electrical and bathroom. Was told check in is possible from 12.30 but when I reached there I was told to come back at 2. Contact person was insensitive and rude, never called back.
- Luciano (3/5): Good location but very smelly drains :( - Good area to be located in The bathroom smelt of raw sewage all week and was very unpleasant to the point where we were wrenching when brushing our teeth. The bathroom was also incredibly warm at all times and no toilet roll when we arrived!
- Mario (1/5): Bad - Absolutely nothing!!! Impossible to climb stairs with the luggages, they were absolutely vertical, 4th floor and we were breaking our legs falling down. In the room very strong smell of drugs and cannabis. We were hitting the head on the ceiling was too low. Bed was different from booking photos and was all moving and we couldn't sleep even one minute. We had to sleep there 3 night, but after one night we escaped out of this awful and dirty place. We asked our money back because the description of the room in booking was different from the reality and the owner didn't give us our money back.
We never met the owners and they never asked us our documents, this never happened us in all the travels we did around the world.
We strongly reccomend all the travellers not to go this really awfull place if you don't want to loose your money and make an unpleasant holiday....
- John (5/5): Scam - Still waiting on one day refund We got a double bed instead of two singles and was promised a TV also never got.
So for that reason we were offered one day stay as a refund and we agreed but still not seen it in my bank account
- Elaine (1/5): Waste of money , stairs was far to steep we couldn’t stay there - The location The steep stairs
- Nikita (6/5): Pleasant - It was great for us as a couple that wanted to discover Amsterdam and not stay a lot in the room. So good for our use and the overall price ( good bed, room not far from the city center... ). It was largely correct There was unfortunately not a lot of appliances at all ; 2 broken hairdryers + one that worked. Nothing to wash yourself, take a shower etc. So we had to buy everything in urgency. Maybe it would be great to specify it. Moreover, the bathroom is quite uneasy : toilets literally in the shower and we didn't see that at on the pics + the mirror was too high.
- John (3/5): Poor -
- Jimmy (5/5): Passable - Small room, no clean towels given so have to use same towels for 3 nights stay
- Marcos (9/5): An excellent accommodation, no complaints...lovely neighbourhood - Communication was excellent! The stairs.....but I am being fussy!
- Marco (1/5): DID NOT STAY, HAD TO REBOOK ELSEWHERE AT MAJOR EXPENSE - Not appicable Totally inaccessible...stairs narrow and steep
- Mcfarlane (3/5): Never again! - The bed was comfy The stairs (four flights, apartment is in the roof) are dangerously steep. The bar opposite is open until 3am and excessively loud! Not able to sleep for most of the night
- Vivek (1/5): Very bed experience.. I will never recommend this. - Very bed experience. No service at all. There are nothing in the room. Like - hand wash , shower gel/ bath shop. Room and bathroom lights are not working.
- Gaia (4/5): Smelly - The location is pretty close to the station and the center, and if you don't want to walk you can use the tram that passes near the place.
Just be aware that you're up 4 flights of steep stairs, it wasn't a problem for me but you can't really bring large luggage with you. The moldy smell in the bathroom was unbearable, we bought some vinegar to pour down the drains but the smell kept coming back even after two bottles of strong vinegar. The light in the bathroom also didn't work properly.
- Victoria (5/5): Passable - Location good. Bed comfortable. Room clean. Directions given were simple. Supermarket and restaurant’s very close proximity, excellent pizza across the road. Towels provided, microwave, mini fridge, kettle and coffee machine, fan and tv. 2 hairdryers were provided but both smelled like burning and one sounded like it was going to explode A warning about the 4 flights of Dutch stairs should be advertised before booking and paying, all handrails are loose.
Really bad smell from the drains in the en suite bathroom and one of the window blinds is broken so you were woken at dawn
- Brian (2/5): This place is only for young travellers, not suitable for old travellers. - Clean sheet and beds 1. absolutely steep stairs. We stored our luggage near Central Station. (extra 40 euro paid)
2. very hot room. The old windows can't be opened. No air conditioner system.
3. In front of a noisy local pub, we couldn't sleep until 3 o'clock.
4. No soap supplied.
- Ida (6/5): Good place to stay if you want to be a little outside centrum. Stairs were very steep. - Location was good, and it was very clean. It was too hot and no AC.
- Tanya (8/5): what needs to be defined is advising customers of “very steep stairs” not just lots of stairs as was stated. For my safe - Bed was good and the room was different as Amsterdam has different architecture and design of home bathroom needs a plumber with a worm to do a big flush of the down pipes as the bathroom had that rotten drain smell also locks need tightening as one was lose and one was sticky
- Ana (5/5): Passable - Great location. The room is way smaller than it looks in the photos. Bathroom is tiny as well. We were 2 girls with 2 suitcases, and no space to put our things anywhere. In top of that the ceiling is inclined at one side, so we kept on banging at each other. The apartment is on the 4th floor and the stairs are ridiculous steep. Definitely doesn't work for someone with knee problems and suitcases.
- John (7/5): cozy room in a nice neighborhood. - very nice apt type room. Comfortable and clean. the stairs, I lowered my suitcase down with a rope
- Ziad (7/5): Good - Stairs are extremely dangerous specially if u got heavy luggage
- Carlotta (10/5): Very cozy room very near to everything - the location and view were very nice. The bed was very comfy it was all fine
- Paul (1/5): so glad we could book something else or we would have flown back same day. it was shocking. - nothing The stairs are a joke did not feel safe using them at all! 4 flights of stairs that have around 20 to 25 maybe more steps in them they where more like ladders than stairs. the room itself was moving. with only one way in and out we found this to be an unsafe place to stay and would recommend that this room is removed from Booking.com. We would like a full refund as it was not as described. we stayed just long enough to book another room and left as soon as we could maybe an hour.
- Anonymous (8/5): Everhthing you needed for a bargain. - Good mattress and clean. En-suite toilet was clean and there were spare towels provided. Plenty of space if you decided to store clothes in the dresser. Was only one nightstand in the room I was in. Would’ve liked somewhere to plug my phone in / a lamp on both sides, but due to constraints of room size I understood.
- Aaron (8/5): Very good -
- Bailey (9/5): Superb -
- Phillips (10/5): Great location for the price! Lovely views of the city too! - My partner and I really enjoyed this location, the ensuite especially was a nice touch even if it was just a short trip. The location is very good for the price, a mere 10 minute walk to Centraal station. Supermarket very close too which helped with acquiring snacks after a long day in the city. I would say that like the rest of Amsterdam, it is expensive which is not the fault of the owners at all but still something to bear in mind. The stairs/bannister could do with a retouch. At some points the handrail was wobbly but I can't remember where exactly. Other than that, loved it as a place to lay out heads after a long day with lots of walking!
- Sergei (7/5): Good -
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional - Great view
Great shower
Great bed
Amazing location
- Anonymous (7/5): Comfy and clean room - stairs are a killer! - room was lovely, and very clean. great view and very comfy bed! only thing was that the bathroom smelt a lot, but maybe just a plumbing issue. Stairs were a killer, but you get used to them. be careful they’re very steep.
- Nats_hss (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marco (1/5): Very unpleasant surprise… Cleaning is an optional! TO AVOID - Going for a one night stay in Amsterdam, on December 30th, 2022 and looking for a comfortable and fair price accommodation, I run into this one: good pictures, position ish too, so I place the reservation.
A couple days before the arrival, I receive a message from the host that may not be there for the check-in, and explains how to do it autonomously. Check-in time is usually starting 14:00, I ask if it is a problem being there a bit earlier around 12:30; quick answer, it should be fine to arrive a bit earlier.
On the way to the building, I text again the host, who confirms everything is in place and ready. I arrive at 13:16, on the staircase it smells like humid, mold and chlorine all the way to the 4th and last floor, where the room is. Steep stairs, typical of the city, carrying the luggages isn’t easy, on the opposite it is quite tricky with very tall and thin steps.
Once in the room, the smell of chlorine is even stronger than on the stairs and there is a hole in the wall, next to the toilet. The cleaning isn’t the best at first sight, without looking for a 5 stars hotel treatment, but this is what I find next:
- First drawer, with a strange stain, some dirt and hair
- The last drawer is full of empty plastic bottles, like somebody is collecting garbage where I’m supposed to put my clothes
- I open the bin in the bedroom, it is full with garbage
- I look at the bed, and there is a big hole in the centre of the bedsheets and hair all over
- The toilet is small, there is a horrible old wood footstool loosing paint, but maybe it is the taste of the host. I realise there were no pics of that toilet when making the reservation
- There is a bin next to the loo, I open it: full with garbage, I can see immediately used tampons and I don’t even imagine what else. On top of this, not even a plastic bag.
I am tired, disgusted, I feel there is no care for the guest and I can’t think of staying there overnight.
- Kenau (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marco (1/5): Bad -
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Imogen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Antonio (8/5): Very good -
- Sylvia (6/5): pleasant - it comfortable and clean. the shower was like a little dribble and the blinds on the windows didn’t work at all. The light in the morning woke you up.
- Malwina (8/5): Perfect place for a short stay in Amsterdam, close to the city center - Very close to the city center (15min walk), tiny but comfortable apartment, very good contact with the host, almost vertical stairs (REALLY!) were nice city-related experience (typical for Amsterdam's tenements), however I do not recommend using them with a huge suitcase ;) Small things that might improve the experience a bit if added: cloth hanger, mirror (there was one in the bathroom, but we could see our foreheads mainly, bigger one in the hall), mugs, some desk or table top - basically a place that you can put your belongings
- Andrew (8/5): Good location but difficult access to flat - quiet and great location for Westerpark the steepness of the stairs to the room on the 4th floor. dangerous if you are carrying anything
- Dunya (8/5): Very good -
- Julian (5/5): Passable - Close to the center. No problems with the check-in. Uncomfortabley cramped room with very cheap furniture. Small bathroom with poor ventilation and barley enough space to use the toilet properly.
- Agostinho (3/5): difficult entry - Location Facility and cleaning
- Lisa (7/5): Basic room, good location. - Good location, comfortable bed. Good basic room for staying in Amsterdam. Nice to have a fridge and coffee machine. Stairs up to the 4th floor are extremely steep and dangerous. Mirror in the bathroom was too high up and I'm not particularly short!
A fan would help in summer as it is opposite a bar so noisy with windows open.
- Patricia (6/5): A pleasant stay to meet up with family. - Being on the 4th floor wasn't good and the stairs were horrendous, almost vertical.
The room was clean as we're the bedding, towels etc The location of the room, as stated the stairs were horrendous
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Ana (1/5): Appealing price for a very disappointing and bad experience, absolutely not to be repeated! - Coffee machine in the room Cleaning is absolutely disgusting - a deceiving 35€ cleaning fee was charged for no reason; the floor was dirty, using a fan a cloud of dust appeared in the air; even the glasses were not properly cleaned; during stay nobody cleaned the place - I wonder if that applies to a longer stay.
Bathroom without the minimum conditions
- Arsenii (3/5): Poor -
- Matthew (5/5): Cheap and cheerful, nice location, just be careful on the stairs. - Good location, especially with a bicycle. Close to Jordaan and the Westerpark, which is nice. Right on a tram stop too, although connections from here can be a bit cumbersome. This is simple, cheap accommodation that does the job. Don't ignore the warning about the steep stairs. I lived in the Netherlands for several years and these are the steepest stairs I have ever experienced. Always descend with both feet pointing sideways and holding both handrails. Shortly after checking into the apartment I slipped and fell down the longest (first to ground floor) set of stairs, at least 20 stairs in all: I sprained one ankle quite badly, took a bit of a beating on my body, and quite seriously grazed some skin off my hands and arms. I spent almost the whole of the next day in bed before heading out into the city again, and more than a month later I am still feeling the effects of the injury. Needless to say I tried to come and go from the apartment as little as possible after that in order not to risk another fall, which had quite a chilling effect on the holiday. I think the warning in the description is clear enough, but I strongly recommend to take it seriously and consider whether a more expensive accommodation option may be more appropriate for you.
