Guest Reviews
- Phil (8/5): OK. Not sure if I would stay again - The apartment was very big almost a flat size. Location was great on main road. But still quite. Wifi good. Lots of rules saying, don't do this, wash and clean work tops daily etc guess they have had bad guests..
Air central heating is noisy as the vent was under the main bed. There is no real view from our room.
Owner was a bit business like.

Traffic on the road out in front of the house was loud. We ended up leaving in the early hours of the morning as we were so uncomfortable we couldn't sleep.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very clean and comfortable. Price was great for the area. There was a lot of noise with the property being right on the highway. I always bring ear plugs so not that bothersome for me.

Easy parking, across from the Somass River, close to Point Alberni. Quick access to the room from the parking area.
The back yard is huge with lots of places to sit and relax. That it wasn’t summer ; )

My only complaint is that when I wanted to shower in the morning there was no hot water left. I'll stay here again and have recommended it to others. I'll make sure to shower earlier next time.

- Matt (9/5): Superb - Clean, private and safe location with off street parking. Access to a shared kitchen and outdoor grill. Nice area to hang out outside as well.
- Alan (10/5): Our hostess certainly knows how to welcome guests in a very fine property. - One of the best rooms we have ever booked. It maybe described as a Guest House, but it was better equipped than any hotel room I have booked. We have a large lounge area, comfortable bed, Large well appointed bathroom . Outside our room was a kitchen for us to use. A freshly cooked breakfast was ready at the agreed time Nothing
- Stewart (8/5): Very good -
- Kathleen (7/5): To me not as good for us , as reviews indicated - Adequate breakfast, it was all good , It was all good , very adequate , unfortunately not what I was expecting ,
- Ian (9/5): Superb -

Well located
Clean and modern
- Norman (9/5): Superb - Great room and facilities.
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb -
- Wai (8/5): Well located, pretty property; Comfortable room. - The guesthouse is a very nice property conveniently situated on the town's main road. It has a large, beautiful garden at the back of the house which is an added bonus. Our room, named "Eagle's Nest", is well furnished with nice furniture and adequate kitchen utensils, and is very clean and comfortable. It would be great if the windows could be fully blinded, especially for someone like me who prefers to sleep in darkness. Check-in hours (4:00 - 9:00 pm) are too restrictive - probably the most restrictive I have come across all over the world ! (And when we had requested an earlier check-in between 3:00 - 4:00 pm, it was flatly rejected.)
- Sarah (1/5): Bad - Nothing We didn't get to stay here in the end despite having booked it. The host was extremely rude and also amazingly mean and petty. We were so surprised and shocked by her rude behaviour and negative attitude towards us right from first contact when we arrived to check in. We had made a genuine mistake in our booking-booked two family rooms but I had mistakenly not booked my 2 children (10 and 4 years old) in separately as individuals in the overall booking but I was happy to make any additional payment for breakfast/bedding etc. I and my family have stayed in many Booking.com places and also places through Air BnB with no issues including all other places on our 3 week visit to Vancouver Island. This host was unbelievably unwelcoming and unkind. She said many negative and hostile things to two members of our party (too many to list here) and ended up by demanding an apology from us followed by telling us she would not check us in and demanding that we leave. By this point we were happy to do so! Luckily we managed to find a different place to stay. Never stay here, please read the Google reviews of this place, we are not the only ones who have had negative experiences of this accommodation.
- Robedmonds (9/5): Superb - Comfortable bedroom and shared kitchen. We used the BBQ. It had good parking. The house is close to a busy road.which was noisy at night.
- Allison (10/5): Most comfortable bed ever - The most comfortable away from home bed I’ve ever slept in - the sheets were clearly spun from magic unicorn fur as they were delightfully soft. I had planned on leaving early to get to my destination but couldn’t extract myself to get moving. The sauna was an added benefit. Nothing. Would 100% stay again and for longer.
- Catherine (9/5): We found the accommodations to be very comfortable and clean. - Breakfast was excellent!
- Barra (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (9/5): Superb - Very close to downtown. Beautiful grounds on site. No tub in rooms to use.
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Lana (8/5): I'd stay again. - Stayed here many times. Location is good. Cheryl the owner is very nice. Property is well kept. A lovely, scenic property. Even had deer in the yard. For me, the toilet in my room was a bit to low and the bed a bit too soft (having some degenerative issues)
- Paola (10/5): Would return to this hotel while visiting Port Alberni - Lots of space, clean and quiet. Dated with carpets, but good value for the size of the family room.
- Rade (10/5): Exceptional experience - a great place to stay when you are exploring the island whethwr you stay as a single family or - Location, facilities, the owners, garden, terrace…. N/A
- Michal (9/5): Nice stop on the way to Tofino - Good/Basic Breakfast
Kind and helpful hostess. Gave us good advices
Very nice and large yard
Big and very comfortable room
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Such a comfortable bed! Lovely soft lighting and spacious room with an overstuffed recliner. Beautoful grounds to stroll through
- Xiao (3/5): It was a horrible experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. - The rooms were clean but the water kettled in the room was disgusting. There was algae in the kettle... Staff was rude from the start to the very end. I felt as if I was always unwelcome. I accidently forgot my credit card and she got upset. I tried to pay with another credit card but it didn't go through...instead of giving me back the credit card the lady angrily withheld my credit car for no reason. As if I was a threat with it and threaten to bring the cops. She would not give my card back until a few minutes has passed saying she does not want to get involved with me. Luckily I found my other credit card and was able to check in. Throughout my entire stay, my family and i felt like we were mistreated like alien invaders. They had breakfast in the morning and when i ask if there was breakfast for me and my family...she rudely said no... She could have just told us no but her tone was so belittling and i felt horrible i started to tear up. After we check out, she sent me another text message saying i should never travel and that everyone hates dealing with people like me. It made me tear up and i felt horrible throughout the rest of my day.
- Sallianne (4/5): Good for overnight. Good value. - Clean private and roomy. Good value.
- Kathy (9/5): We had a lovely stay. Quiet - Size of room was great and clean. Bed was too soft and pillows could be upgraded
- Pat (1/5): Unfriendly host - We arrived with an extra 3 year child which was a last minute decision. We agreed to pay an extra $30. Owner said to meet her next door. We thought this was our room since it looked like a family suite. When owner came back into the room she started yelling us because I was looking in the cupboard.
She was very angry and was telling us to get out, she was cancelling our reservation. We had two small children now crying with no where to go. I have never had an experience like this, she wouldn't accept any kind of apology from us, it was a misunderstanding about where our room was. I would not recommend this guest house.
- Anne (8/5): 4 nights stay with friends. - The accommodation was comfortable, spacious and well equipped if slightly dated - but had character! The grounds were beautiful. Lots of outdoors areas to sit out.
Location was central to visit east and west coasts.
Beds were comfortable and A/C worked OK. The main living area was rather light in the early morning for sleeping, as not all the windows were curtained.
The accommodation is upstairs so not suitable for those with mobility issues - not a problem for us.
The property is on a busy main road but you do not hear traffic as the accommodation is at the rear.
Overall a very pleasant stay and fair value for money.
- Cristian (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ivy (8/5): Very good - Large, clean with everything we needed and a lovely extensive garden and patio area. We were only staying one night or I would have spent more time there! Although effective the AC was turned a little low for my liking. At the same time I did sleep well.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Hisham (9/5): Superb -
- Darcy (9/5): Clean comfortable and terrific breakfast - The host was so friendly and welcoming,. The use of the deck was nice and quiet, lovely property That we only stayed the one day in port alberni.
- Jingyou (2/5): not met my expectation. - the host Lady showed very poor attitude and never glad or nice to us for the stay and my wife and myself felt unhappy. I will not stay there again. just treat us as a guest.
- Monique (7/5): Good - A very large en comfortabel room with a great couch and a gas fireplace. A nice bathroom with everything you need. The host left us standing in the cold because there were 2 couples ahead of us to check in and she could handle only one at a time although there was plenty of space inside. Why? Furthermore, there were many strict rules such as: if you don't clean the kitchen and table after breakfast you will get a 200 dollar fine. I understand that the host is alone but if she would have asked it kindly she most likely would have got all the help she needed with love. There is no need at all to threaten with a fine.
Breakfast was very simple.
- Lesley (6/5): Not there long enough to enjoy the pleasant garden, but overall a pleasant stop. - Breakfast was quite adequate . Would prefer to butter my own toast!!
Would have liked some English breakfast tea. This is a personal choice. Would prefer a bedroom with a window!
Found the pencil note stuck to a kitchen cupboard about cleaning up the kitchen and being fined if you didn’t rather strange . A little curt.
- Elizabeth (9/5): We enjoyed our short stay. The room was nice and airy - Easy access even though stairs to the room
