Guest Reviews
- Monica Martins 74 (9/5): Great Apartment and Lovely Host - We had a very pleasant stay. The apartment matched the photos provided and met our expectations. The host was very kind and gave us several helpful tips for our stay. The location was also convenient, with easy access to Amsterdam via a free ferry. There were nothing that we didn't liked.
- Cristina (10/5): Excelente - Su originalidad.
- Nicola (10/5): - Houseboat was as described and a nice change from hotel rooms. Having a cooktop to make meals was great.
- Frauke (8/5): peaceful - spacious, private, special Hardly avoidable with a House boat, i guess, but the smell was a bit moldy, especially in the bathroom.
- Jan Raphael (10/5): Cozy and lovely houseboat - The houseboat is great, and we really enjoyed our stay with our dog. There is a park nearby where you can go for walks. The ferries are also close (about a 15–20 minute walk) and can be reached either on foot or by bike. There are also some nice restaurants and bars near the ferries.
Saskia welcomed us upon arrival and gave us some helpful tips, which was great – she is very nice! Just for information: Not recommended for people who get seasick, as you can of course feel some motion on the boat – especially when it’s windy.
- Rosario (10/5): A pleasant stay with a comfortable bed. I will be back. - It was only a short walk from the city center (about 10 minutes to the free ferry that takes you to the city center), and the area had many local shops and a supermarket about 5 minutes away. The parking is large, and the owner is incredibly kind. However, the GPS does take you to the wrong parking spot (but that is not the owner's fault). The snacks provided were delicious, and the bed was super comfortable. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.
- Tina (8/5): -
- Katja Pranka (10/5): - I highly recommend this place for anybody staying in Amsterdam. It's easy to get to the city center, shops are close by and you also have easy parking.
The apartment is comfortable and with everything you need.
Saskia was not at home, but her holiday cover Paula was super nice and very patient in answering all question. There's nothing to dislike about this place.
- Gemma (8/5): Fijn dichtbij de IJhallen in een fijne sfeer - Uniek om op een woonboot te slapen en dat in Amsterdam Geen
- Smid (8/5): -
- Geoffrey (9/5): Great stay on this houseboat! - Great little houseboat! The hostess was extremely nice and informative. Took the bikes to the ferry and had a great evening in Amsterdam! Shower drain was a bit slow.
- Montgomery (10/5): Absolutely perfect place to stay - Everything we needed was there when we arrived and even though we were an hour late we were still greeted with a smile and felt relaxed and at ease
- Linda (10/5): Host Saskia was truly fantastic, providing all the necessary tips to make the most of the experience. The apartment was - Super charming apartment, functional in terms of space with a design very attentive to details. Nothing.
- Ines (9/5): Superb -
- Suzanne (9/5): A great addition to all the other fabulous experiences in Amsterdam. Would recommend. - Comfortable, quiet and unique accommodation. Use of bikes very welcome. Local restaurant recommendations were great. Getting from bathroom to bedroom needed care so may not suit elderly or anyone needing the bathroom a lot at night!
- Lesley (10/5): Amazing accommodation and a lovely host! - The house boat was lovely with everything we needed. Saskia was extremely helpful and friendly. She couldn't have done more. We loved everything about our stay. Nothing
- Davy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diogo (9/5): Great stay! - Saskia is a nice person, helped us in everything we needed. The place is also nice, calm and cosy. Highly recommended! -
- Mickey (9/5): Superb - Such a lovely place with a great and caring host. Saskia helps you whenever it's needed and gives you great advices, we enjoyed the stay very much at this unique place.
- Joel (10/5): Wonderful houseboat stay - Lovely stay in Saskia's houseboat. A great space in a great location. Saskia was super helpful, and getting to borrow the bikes was a wonderful option -- great for exploring the nature reserve north of the city or for zipping over to the subway station. Would love be come back someday, and would definitely recommend to others!
- Martin (4/5): It is no fun repeatedly hitting your head, or waking up hungry. - Coffee machine was good. Biscuits were good. Lounge and loo were fine. We didn’t like getting a jar of dry muesli described as breakfast. No milk to go with it. No bread. This is not breakfast for 2.
The headroom in the bedroom was awful. Had to crawl into bed. When you woke you hit your head if you sat up. Just dreadful.
The location was a 10 minute walk to the nearest restaurant. The bikes provided were really heavy and unmanageable. Never again.
- Zekai (9/5): İt was an interesting experience to stay in a houseboat. We liked. We would like to thank Saskia for her helps. -
- Cynthia (10/5): Cute and cozy - Cute, cozy space a little out of the business of the city center. The space is clean, the bed comfortable. Made use of the bicycles available for use.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Vanesa (7/5): Small, clean houseboat somewhat far from city center. - Bed was super comfortable and the micro-rocking of the boat improved my sleep.
Very quiet location
Small but serviceable kitchenette
-Nice little bench outside to sip coffee in the morning. -The location is a bit far from the center for us, but some may find it nice.
-There is no laundry in the unit as advertised. The laundry is in the owners apartment and she gives you the option to do it yourself or have her do it. I book places with laundry because I enjoy my privacy and the liberty to do laundry at any time. In this case I had to ask. I feel the listing should be amended to include this information.
-Close proximity to owners side of the boat will make you want to speak quietly.
-We left for a short time and came home to the AC off on a very hot day; Did she enter the unit? we will never know but it’s worth noting the AC may turn off randomly.
-Bikes are in bad disrepair. Preventative maintenance is not and will not be done (read her other responses).
- Nadezda (8/5): Very good - Interesting experience to live on the water. The location was surprisingly good - just 10 min by free ferry and 1 km to walk.
The host Saskia is very nice and helpful
- Kila_jay (10/5): Lovely houseboat in a quiet and unique location. - Lovely accomodation, great location not far from the NDSM ferry but enough out the city to have a peaceful place to return to after the hussle and bustle of the city. Also can be reached by other ferries and bus easily.
Clean accomodation and the bed was super comfortable!!!
The coffee, tea, muesli (including yummy chocolate muesli) and snacks were a lovely touch and very appreciated on a lazy morning.
Saskia was a very kind and attentive host, there if we needed her and to give advice but also allowed us the freedom and privacy to come and go as we pleased. Her messages providing directions and advice on local facilities were very appreciated too.
We really enjoyed being north of the river and exploring the breweries, cafes, bars and parks nearby. Nothing we didn't like, it was great!
The pictures do show the low ceiling over the bed and while we loved navigating the stairs (narrow and spiral) and the low ceiling in the bedroom it could be a challenge for those with mobility issues. However, for us it added to the experience and we enjoyed the novelty of it.
- William (10/5): All wonderful - Great host!
- B (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christiaan (10/5): Relaxing on the water - Lovely place. Quite. Relaxing. Very clean. Host very accommodating.
- Niamh (10/5): Perfect stay at the houseboat - The location is lovely and suggestive, a haven of peace and quiet in North Amsterdam, but also close to the centre, which is just a short, free ferry ride away. Everything's in the house is clean, the bed is probably more comfortable than my own haha, and apart from the coffee machine, kettle and microwave I really appreciated the basic cooking equipment (small induction cooker, pots and pans and all the tableware) which helped us save a bit of money by not having to eat out every time. Also, Saskia is very friendly and professional, always available for questions, and was so kind to leave us a few jars of sweets and granola for our breakfast. The cherry on top was definitely the bikes that come with the house, so useful to get around the city! We had a wonderful time in Amsterdam and at Saskia's place ;) Nothing
- Diana (9/5): Superb - Great host! lovely place, very cozy. You can see swans swimming in your window it was a bit cold for me
- Serdar (9/5): We chose this place for a 2 night stay in Amsterdam. The houseboat location is in a very good place. There is a ferry -
- Hezza (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location with it being right on the water.
Host was awesome with any questions or queries.
The swans and ducks coming for a morning visit was nice.
Very peaceful place to be. The low roof upstairs but we managed with only a couple bumps.
- Jamila (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing stay close to the city - the location is perfect if you want somewhere peaceful and relaxing but not too far from the city. 10-15 walk to the ferry then it’s a 10 min free ferry to central station. Sasikia is also a great host too
- Ed (9/5): Superb - Loved the bed being up in the roof when it poured with rain at night - so cosy! The use of bikes made it so easy to get into the city centre via the free ferries - a real bonus.
