Guest Reviews
- Minju (9/5): - Jordaan District neighborhood location.
Clean room and bathroom. Clean amd comfy bedding
Nice experience if prefer a studio type over hotel.
Enough space for one and max 2 persons.
I would visit again! The night noise and there is absolutely no noise proof. But, they provide ear plugs for sleeping. Bring a pair of slippers, toilettery.
- Elyse (8/5): We loved the Jordaan neighborhood, and the view of the canal and street from our suite; the beds are also very comfortab - I liked the location, and the modern design of the suite. Street noise, but that’s to be expected. The bathroom faucet lever was defective (falling off) and lack of body soap and shampoo in the shower. Very little dish soap in the kitchen. Delayed communication by Tessa (I had emailed a question in advance of our visit).
- Lee (7/5): Good - The view from the room was great. No storage space for clothes.Very bad windows that let in cold air and noise.Room was small
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (6/5): Fantastic location, but cold - We really enjoyed the fantastic location. The room is small but well-equipped, and the relatively large fridge is a convenient feature. The main issue we faced was the cold, as the windows could not be properly closed, letting in a constant draft. This also brought in continuous street noise. We requested a heater, but the owner took two days to respond, not solving anything… Fortunately, the weather improved, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here during the winter months. There were also minor issues like a lack of toilet paper, almost no shampoo, and the room being too small to store clothes. Overall, the unresponsiveness and cold made us question if we were truly welcome as guests.
- Catherine (8/5): Loved the area and it was within reasonable walking distance from many places of interest. - We really liked the location - being right beside one of the canals - just a lovely view! The building and room are completely charming and authentic Amsterdam!! It would have been helpful to have a street number. We had the street name but not the house number. Also, it would have been helpful to have a sign or some identifier next to the entry door/keypad so we knew that we were at the correct address.
- Bernard (7/5): Good - Great location and well maintained Noise from the street throughout the night , windows not sound proof.
Insufficient hanging space (2 people) and no space for 2 suitcases.
- Dori (9/5): Superb - The location was great to walk to most tourist destinations
- Scott (7/5): Great location - Location amazing Shower drain clogged resulting in needing to have short shower or flood the bathroom. I let the host know but received no reply
- Anna (4/5): Disappointing - Very clean. Very noisy street and very steep stairs to the room.
- Joyce (9/5): Lovely stay in beautiful Jordaan neighborhood - The room was compact and very efficient. The refrigerator had an ice tray that made my husband very happy. The bed was comfy and the shower spacious. Loved having the windows open in the afternoon. Walking distance to trams, buses, groceries and restaurants. A lovely neighbor to stroll in. Easy to get in. The noise cannot be helped in an Amsterdam neighborhood. It is part of the charm, We appreciated very much the ear plugs left for both of us, We were very glad the weather was cool so it wasn't stuffy when we closed the windows. It was a bit confusing to find as there is no such street address on the building. We had help from a gentleman in the business downstairs,
- Katherine (9/5): Superb -
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - Tessa has been very helpful
- Mike (6/5): Nice place, super small. - Very clean The people that stayed in the room across the hall were VERY loud at 2 or 3 am. They were coming in at that time but they did not quite down once arriving. They were super loud and the noise carried and it was impossible to sleep. No ear plugs could drown out the noise. We had noise from the street but it was passing noise and not someone staying right in your space so that was tolerable as it did not last. There was only 1 towel for each of us for the entire stay, so that was a little hard to make do.
- Jose (9/5): Superb -
- William (7/5): Fantastic location - Great location
Small but well set out Noisy but that’s more to do with the sound reverberating off all the old buildings
- Charlotte (8/5): Overall, it’s beautifully located on the prettiest canal in Amsterdam. - The location was excellent and exactly what I expected. Nicely decorated. Beautiful view of the canal lined street. Room size was small and the noise in middle of the night was quite high. There were earplugs next to our bed upon arrival, which I thought was strange. Then in the middle of the night, 1 am onward when I tried to sleep, I quickly understood why the earplugs were there. You could hear everything outside the closed windows. Conversations, cars, people walking around all night. Sleeping was quite a challenge.
- Madura (7/5): Good -
- Alexander (9/5): Superb - Loved this apartment, the location on the canal and the view from the room is brilliant. One of the best we have stayed in. We will be recommending this to others. Stairs are quite steep and could be an issue for some people.
- Carlos (10/5): Perfect for couples - Especially the location and the facilities. You can cross the city in 30 minutes by walking. The stairs, as throughout Amsterdam, can be challenging for elderly individuals or those with reduced mobility.
- Nicole (8/5): Very nice, modern, clean spot in the heart of the Jordaan - A very nice, modern and clean appartment in the heart of the Jordaan. For us a bit too noisy due to the corner location and big windows.
- Turley (8/5): Lovely location and great facilities but you will encounter noise if you stay here! - Beautiful property in a stunning location. The property has beautiful old windows but sadly they let in lots of noise. The host provided earplugs and they are needed. It was a very noisy spot.
There are also extremely steep and narrows stairs to the rooms and would be almost impossible for someone with mobility issues to handle.
- Kathleen (8/5): Overall, we enjoyed our stay. - The bed was very comfortable, the shower great, the location wonderful. Simply but nicely decorated; appreciated the teapot and kitchen supplies, place to eat, and the towel rack in the bathroom. The communication regarding access was very well done; good security system, felt very safe. Nice to arrive with some cold water already for us. My husband and I are older and while pretty nimble found the staircase up to the apartment daunting. It's a good thing we were traveling light. Fortunately there were rails on both sides and we adapted to the climb. The advert on Booking.com should note this might be a problem for people who are mobility impaired. The room is small, very little space for luggage, no drawers; nightstands are small ledges. No microwave so fridge meant we could chill water etc. (very nice) but no way to really use leftovers. It was very warm out when we were there but the windows are big and we had a nice breeze at night so comfortable sleeping (although maybe a better way to prop them open would be useful).
- Cheryl (6/5): Great location but apartment too small. - Location was great. Size of apartment too small to even unpack. We were expecting a canal view but were allocated an alley view.
- Charlie (8/5): Beauitful room for friends in perfect location - location, decor and layout of the room was great when windy, the windows were very noisy and moved within the frame
- Carol (8/5): We loved the place, but we’re disturbed all night. - The location is fantastic , very easy to get around town. The Jordaan is simply the best neighborhood in the city in my opinion. The noise!!! We guessed we were in trouble when earplugs were left for us. There is consistent traffic and people yelling all night. It was very hard to sleep. Also, be prepared for steep, short stairs.
- Sue (2/5): would not recommend - central location very small room - need to let people know that it is very small
rattling windows need securing
check in - we checked in at 1500 as planned and the room hadn't been cleaned. the owner appeared ans said could we leave again while the cleaners come in and the room would be ready by 5!! we were very jetlagged and this was very inconvenient.
- Gillian (10/5): Perfect studio to relax in Amsterdam - Lovely studio apartment in an excellent location. It had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. A great base for exploring the city on foot, without being right in the busy centre. A wee bit noisy at night when people were walking past but it wasn’t constant or very late and the host kindly provided ear plugs, which we didn’t need to use when the windows were closed.
- Nicola (8/5): Had a lovely stay - Location was fantastic
- Bradley (10/5): I would recommend this property as a very pleasant place to stay while in Amsterdam. - This was our first trip to the City of Amsterdam. We consulted many resources but relied heavily on Rick Steves’ Amsterdam and the Netherlands Guidebook. We knew from our research that we wanted to stay in the Jordaan neighborhood. When we saw the pictures and description of Studios at the canal property, we booked it without hesitation, and we are so glad we did. The property is a quaint and thoroughly modern studio apartment up a narrow flight of stairs. It is fully equipped with a king bed, kitchen, coffee maker, small refrigerator, and a small, but more than effective, space heater (we were there in April and temperatures were chilly). The windows allowed for plenty of natural light, and the blinds were useful to block out the streetlights that made one feel quite secure. The bathroom was perfect – large with the most luxurious shower ever. Every space in the apartment was useable and functional. The location was perfect. The property is near Anne Franks’ House and an easy walk to Dam Square where one can pick up a tram to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. There are many fun and entertaining places to eat near the property, including our favorite Greek Coffee Bar: “Kafenion Specialty Coffee Bar.” The only thing that comes to mind that was somewhat difficult was the lack of drawer space to unpack one's luggage., but we delt fine without it.
- Katarzyna (7/5): Nice but we've expected a bit more. - This place is a lesson how to arrange a very cofortable appartment in a small space.
Despite the fact that the room is not big, it's very well designed, you have everything you need. Interior is light and very nice, bed is comfortable.
Appartment is perfectly located in the nice area of Central Amsterdam. This is an old canal house so the windows are very very thin. Due to that fact it's cold in the room (it was 10*C outside when we were in Amsterdam and the heating was not working). Also it was noisy - you can hear people talking at the street not to mention the sounds of the engines etc. It's hard to sleep.
- Michael (9/5): superb I’m every way. Thank you Tessa. - Everything it was very comfortable and fantastic location Nothing really but I would suggest that a sign of some sorts to help people find the place as it was a bit of guess work.
- Alexandra (8/5): Felt we were actually living in Amsterdam in our lovely studio apartment - fantastic location. Provided everything you would need Because it was such a great location tended to be noisy but atmospheric
- Pauline (10/5): Studiotastic.... - Great location, very comfortable bed and pillows, warm duvet, with a choice of thermostat control for the studio. Especially liked the choice of being able to make your own tea/coffee and snacks. Nice white clean decour, great bathroom with fabulous shower and under floor heating. Plenty of towels, just loved the white cream. There wasent anything I didnt like.
- Deniz (9/5): perfect choice at a beautiful location! - Location is perfect! Stairs:(
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Heidi (10/5): Perfect stay in the perfect location - what a beautiful little studio right in the heart of the canals, was perfect for our stay!
- Grace (10/5): The studio was lovely, really thoughtfully put together and comfortable. Great location! -
- Ronkleins (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved it. This isn't my first time in Amsterdam but it was my first time staying at Jordaan. This is an incredible quaint neighborhood and the street itself is so quiet and beautiful. The apartment is small, but very well decorated. Good shower. A small kitchen contained everything we really needed. Including refrigerator and a coffee machine (capsules included!). it is an amazing place and amazing location. And I would definitely return. Tessa was a great host as the communication with her was seemless and it felt she really wants you to enjoy your stay. The apartment could use some storing room (a proper shelf or small closet to put the clothes in/on would be nice). Also, If you have trouble sleeping at night when everything is not quiet, keep in mind that the walls of this apartment are not exactly sound proof so you hear the outside quite well. Tessa provided us with earplugs, and it really did the job on my part.
- Rachael (10/5): Perfect location. VERY comfortable beds. Had everything we needed for our short stay in Amsterdam. - Tessa's place is FANTASTIC! It's a perfect location. We were able to walk to it from the train station (about a mile). Overlooks one of the beautiful canals. Such a lovely, perfect spot for a short stay in Amsterdam. Thank you very much Tessa!!! We arrived late in the evening so we had a little difficulty finding the entry door. The one marked 99 is actually on the corner not the side. We were able to contact Tessa and she helped us out immediately. As will most of the lovely old buildings in Amsterdam the stairs are quite steep...but this was expected.
- Phoebe (10/5): Exceptional - The room was so cute, and it had everything we needed! Location was perfect with tram stops within walking distance and a longer walk to anything central. I could not recommend this place more! Although we had our own space, small kitchen and bathroom, you could still hear the other visitors in the room opposite so just be mindful :).
