- Susan (9/5): Ett mycket fint och centralt boende. Vacker utsikt över värdens fina trädgård. - Läget. Super centralt med gångavstånd till allt.Tyst. Rent. Bekväma sängar Det enda att kommentera är att WiFi var svagt.
- sherrie (10/5): - Beautiful property in a great location. The host were very welcoming and accommodating.
- Xanne Bocken (9/5): Helemaal perfect! - Een mooi verzorgde kamer met een goede locatie.
- Emma (10/5): We loved staying here for the 5 nights we were in Amsterdam! Rose and her husband were super helpful with everything. Th - It was incredibly clean and in an amazing location walkable from everywhere. N/a
- Caroline (10/5): the apartment, the location, the host… everything was amazing! if you stay at the soton, indeed you will find stairs on -
- Kamalpreet (10/5): -
- Grace (10/5): This stay helped us picture ourselves living here. - The location of this stay was the absolute highlight. It felt like we were in the quiet of the suburbs but close to everything! The host was so helpful in carrying our (very heavy) luggage up the stairs and made it look easy! Only very minor thing is the sink took a while to drain.
- Michelle (7/5): -
- Janice (8/5): Beautiful place to Stay. - It was in a lovely quiet area. The welcome goodies were well above expectations and were lovely. Thijs was very helpful. Would stay again The number of steps to get to the room.
- Cinzia (8/5): -
- Ayelet (9/5): - Great location , central but quiet close to a great street with lots of good restaurants bakeries and coffee spots. The room is beautifully and comfortably designed, and a lot of thought was given to the little details. Thijs and Rossane are super nice and helpful , gave us great recommendations and were responsive to our every need. We had great time and will be back. The only downside that is manageable is the suite being in on the 5th floor .
- Rachel (9/5): Central location supported by a friendly family. - Location was perfect as it was mid way between work and the tourists sights. It’s situated in a quiet spot within the canal district UCL but 20 minutes from most tourist attractions. Nothing really. The road building is being modified so they had builder working but the disruption was nearly noticeable.
- Raechel (10/5): - Such a lovely room. Location was brilliant. Yes you do have to climb the stairs but you cant go anywhere in Europe without finding a stair and the room is lovely. Our host carried the bags up the stairs. It really is a great place to stay
- Vincent (10/5): Enjoyed our stay very much. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful. Room was quiet. - Hosts were wonderful, Wifi was intermittent and signal often lost.
- Darren (9/5): Would definitely stay here again and excited to do so (sans heavy luggage)🤣🌈🙌👏🫶 - Lovely host and a well kept space with everything we needed for a 4 night stay. Check in was a breeze and Rosanne gave us the full run down on what to do and see which was very helpful. Close walks to various districts and points of interest as well as a supermarket on the street behind. Amsterdams food scene was quite diverse and a fantastic discovery. The stairs would be the only point I should make. Would be a challenge for elderly. Pack light as the last flight is a doozy!
There is currently roadworks along the entire road frontage canal side (SEP 2025) to if lugging suitcases come in from the street behind to be end. The rubber footpath mats over the upturned pavement and sand are difficult to wheel in luggage.
Other than this the room was very comfortable and light filled in the morning. Great neighbourhood.

- Diane (10/5): Perfect accommodation in every way. - Beautiful room. Everything you need. Host met us on arrival and gave us lots of tips re eating venues, sightseeing recommendations. Made us feel so welcome. Lots of extra treats in the room - thank you. Excellent location. Everything in reach. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Bed was so comfortable and bathroom underfloor heating was a real bonus! Perfect in every way. Nothing. Enjoyed our stay completely
- Jonas (8/5): -
- Hannah (10/5): Fantastic location, accomodation and host. -
- Mark (9/5): Had a great time in AD and the location was fab. Great recommendation with the food and coffee would come back - Great location.
Very clean,
Great comfortable bed.
Smart TV with all streaming capabilities
Good shower Those last set of stairs 🥲
Nein alles Bestens.
- Gemma (10/5): - The room was fabulous, and the bed was so comfortable. The house the room is in is lovely, and the location is brilliant. Very happy with our stay, it was perfect. N/A
- Panagiota (9/5): Highly recommended - Location was perfect, very close to everything we wanted to see. The building itself was very beautiful and clean. Room was very clean, there were snacks, coffee and wine available. Rosanne was very helpful and had very good suggestions for bars, restaurants etc. The stairs were not so bad unless you have a knee problem. Rosanne kept our bags after check out without any extra charge. There were not enough hangers inside the bathroom for the towels
- Carl (10/5): Beautiful stay in a lovely canal side building in the heart of Amsterdam - The location was great. It was south of the main tourist area but only by a few minutes walk along the canals and about 5 minutes from the nearest tram stop. We were greeted by the host (Rosanne) who was lovely and welcoming. The room itself was very clean with multiple fresh towels, soaps, shampoo, fresh water, beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and Stroopwafel. It was on a high floor which meant any ambient noise was minimal and overlooked a lovely garden.
In the morning the sun shone in and we enjoyed a lovely coffee in bed before we got on with the day.
The room is situated on a high floor with only stairs which we didn't mind as it only added to our step count for the day. We were well aware of the stairs (no lift) before booking as well as being told after confirmation. This did not bother us but if that isn't for you then book something else, don't moan about it afterwards!
The property is a top floor on a private residence and accessed with a code and multiple locked doors. We were able to check out and leave our bags until later in the day.
- YORIKO (10/5): unforgettable stay in the heart of Amsterdam - Nice authentic interior, beautiful garden view, nice coffee in the room, good location, friendly host nothing
- Ilonka (10/5): - The room is beautiful and there is aircon The rest of the building was a little messy
- Stephen (8/5): Amsterdam amazing place. Excellent restaurants, canals amazing, Van Gogh superb, people friendly. - Location and owners excellent. Great building. Thought we had a view of the canal but must have been the other room.
- Caropatra (10/5): Beautiful Amsterdam - Great location on the Keizersgracht. Outstanding service. Soft bed, lovely interior. Close to many things to do or see. Beautiful Amsterdam.
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (8/5): A beautiful oasis of calm at the heart of the city. - Excellent location on Keizersgracht Canal, very central yet quiet. Empire Suite Garden View is one of a group of suites at the very top of an historic Canal House. The ‘Garden View’ suite faces the back of the property, overlooking a stunning leafy garden. We enjoyed sitting at the large window with a chilled beer (complementary drinks in fridge from lovely hosts) watching the birds. Absolutely bliss. Also the furnishings were of a high standard- the bed was super comfortable! There was nothing we didn’t like. It was excellent and we would definitely stay again. But for the benefit of other visitors, we want to provide a little bit of clarity. Some photos of Empire Suite Garden View on social media platforms show a view over rooftops and canal. The Garden View suite only has a view of the gardens - as the name implies! The other ‘Empire suites’ in the house have access to a roof terrace or views of the canal but Empire Suite Garden view does not. It’s no less for that. The view of the gardens is stunning and it’s super peaceful. This information is just provided for clarity to help others looking to book.
- Torres (10/5): Lovely, comfortable stay in Amsterdam! - The room was absolutely perfect, cozy, bright, and comfortable. It had a beautiful view of the garden and everything you needed for a short stay. Thijs was such a gracious host in offering us recommendations for the neighborhood and also carrying our bags up all those flights of stairs-truly a gentleman. This place also had THE most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in in all of my years traveling; I would return to this spot just for the bed. Can’t recommend the space enough!
- Kathy (5/5): Passable - There was no breakfast. I thought B&B meant Bed & Breakfast
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Great location in old Amsterdam - great way to experience Amsterdam like a local. - Empire Suites had a great location in a 400 year old house on an Amsterdam canal and a block from a tram stop for easy access to the rest of Amsterdam. The owners were a pleasure to work with and even brought our large back upstairs when it arrived after the airline had misplaced it - we didn't have to miss any of our touring.
- Penny (7/5): Spacious room in fantastic location - Location was ideal. Nice large shower. Bed large and firm. Difficult keeping a decent temperature in the room (largely because of a drafting window). No housekeeping. Inadequate lighting. Many steps to the top room.
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): We really enjoyed this property - The location to the city center. N/A
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hawkes (10/5): Outstanding! - The hosts were amazing. The bed and linens was super comfy. The apartment is close to everything yet cozy and very peaceful.
- Marygrace (10/5): This was the most incredible stay. It was so cozy and the location was absolutely wonderful. -
- Georgia (10/5): The entire experience was great from start to finish. We would stay again next time we are here! - Husband and Wife provided a wonderful check-in experience. The room was above incredible, with really wonderful facilities. The entire experience was great from start to finish. We would stay again next time we are in Amsterdam! Nothing! It was all perfect!
- Ed (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful historic home right on the canal in a quiet location yet just around the corner from the main attractions. Great host. Would definitely stay again. Being a protected historic home you need to climb stairs as they are unable to have a lift. That's also part of the charm.
- Liam (9/5): Perfect spot to see the action but also sleep well! - Large, spacious room with good natural light and ventilation, as well as aircon for when it was a little too hot up there. Bathroom was well appointed with relatively new fixture and fittings too. Bed was huge and very comfy too. Great location and very easy to get around everywhere, while still being in a nice quiet spot. Only criticism was the 4 flights of stairs, the last of which is very narrow and therefore a bit more difficult for those with larger suitcases. The foyer was also always very dark and we had to use our phone torch when we would come home after dark to get up the stairs.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (9/5): Superb - Great host, great location. Nothing
- Julia (8/5): beautiful room in the quiet part of Amsterdam - We really loved that the place is in the center of Amsterdam, but in more quiet neighborhood. We could easily enjoy the city itself, but also rest and chill in the apartment. We also really appreciate the help which we got from hosts. They were really helpful and patient. We got a lot of reccomendations regarding to our needs. Thank you for that. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel like we have a privacy. We could hear neighbours from the staircase and the room next door.
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Horng (9/5): Superb - The owner was very friendly and accommodating. I asked if we could leave our luggage there when we arrived before the check-in time. He replied we can leave our luggage. Unfortunately, since we did not have sim card yet and the message arrived after we left the airport, we didn't see the message. Instead dropped our luggage at one of the luggage store places but it was nice of him to offer. He also gave a lot of useful information about what to try, where to eat, etc. Most of the things are good except I wish the desk was larger and more chairs (not low stools) or a sofa to sit down, or even a coffee table so that we could sit down and eat snacks or breakfast.
- Grant (10/5): Beautiful accomodation in a fantastic location. - Host was friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome.
Room was clean, bright, light, airy. Very comfortable bed with beautiful linens. Great shower with excellent water pressure. Nice towels and bathrobes. Tea and coffee facilities were a nice touch. Just be aware that accomodation is up a number of stairs but the hosts did offer to have our bags carried down for us.
- Cat_r (9/5): Lovely Room - This was a lovely room with good facilities and nice view of the garden. The location is away from the main city centre which is a bonus as it is quieter at night. There are plenty of restaurant options close by and it is also close to the metro and tram. The room is at the top of the building with the last flight of stairs narrow and winding. We were warned about this when booking and it wasn't an issue for us, but could be a problem if you have heavy luggage.
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Delightful. - Location was great and it felt like living in your own little house. The owners were helpful and friendly. Nothing I didn’t like but be aware that it is on the 4th floor.
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional - Most comfortable bed we've had away from home. Really friendly and polite hosts and helpful too. Beautiful garden view.
- Alena (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great. Location is perfect, and the room was clean and comfortable.
- Lana (8/5): Super cute and well appointed with fantastic location. - The unit is super cute and the owner, Rosanne is very helpful. When I booked through Booking.com, I was not aware that we only get cleaning coming in and leaving. Location is also good, easy to get to everything we wanted to do in Amsterdam. The heating and cooling system has some problem, the radiator makes very loud noise in the middle of the night. Garbage cans (2) were super small especially when there's no room daily room service. A few towel hooks were broken and not replaced. Finally, we are 2 friends traveling together, it would have been nice of the king beds can be reconfigure into 2 twins. I was aware of this before we were there, and we are able to make it work, not a huge problem just a suggestion.
- Marie (10/5): Luxurious feel and a great location. - Lovely room and a nice location. The bed was super nice and the couple renting out the the room were friendly and helpful. Most attractions are within walking distance. We were very happy with our stay. The shower head in the bathroom could have worked better.
- Mauricio (10/5): Awesome and comfortable stay! - Owner was very kind and gave me some great guidance on things to do near by. Room was super clean, bed was extremely comfortable and awesome the bathroom heated floors.
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Esme (10/5): Just fabulous! - Excellent location, very comfortable! The host was very helpful and lovely too. Nothing!
- Mirah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (7/5): Ok - It was clean and bed was comfortable The shower water went all over the floor and we didn’t get any toiletries until I asked the next day
- Popa (8/5): Very good - The room was cosy and clean.
Good location The other guests were a bit noisy during unsociable hours.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Beautiful, Centrally located place to stay. - Lovely welcome by the host , clean modern good sized room . Very comfortable bed. Complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks in the fridge on arrival were a lovely touch. In a quiet area but Close walk to Rembrandtplein. Would definitely love to return Everything was perfect
- Gianna (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (9/5): Excellent accommodation, in a central location, with wonderful hosts! - Comfiest bed we’ve ever slept in on a vacation! Beautiful room in a wonderful location that met our needs for our short trip. Our hosts were warm and helpful every step of the way. Would love to have a full length mirror next time we visit!
- Caitlin (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at the stylish, very comfortable Empire Suites and the hosts were very friendly, helpful and att - Great location and stylish, luxury room.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpful host. Smart room was very comfortable. Complimentary drinks was a nice touch. The stairs. The room does get warm and the a/c seemed to take some time to cool it down
- Richard (10/5): Perfect location, lovely apartment and great hosts - Location, very friendly
- Charlotte (8/5): Beautiful traditional Dutch canalside property, walkable distance to everything you want to see - Beautiful, traditional Dutch canal house on the Southern Canal Ring in a peaceful location, yet easily walkable to all parts of the city. Thijs was really nice and helpful, even athletically carrying our case to the top floor where the room is as there is of course no lift and also allowing us to leave our luggage in the hall a little later after check out which worked best for us with our Eurostar back to London. We had a really enjoyable 3 nights / 4 days in Amsterdam, first time for me. We feel that the room was a bit overpriced considering this did not offer breakfast (which we were aware of and there is a nice little bagel / coffee shop close by which we went to for breakfast), but we realise like London, where we are from, that Amsterdam is an expensive city. This stay equated to about GBP 200 per night over 3 nights. There was a bit of confusion when we arrived as we thought we were getting another higher grade room for the same price which had a terrace overlooking the canal from the photos on Booking.com so were not expecting the garden room, as lovely as it was, but with no balcony access, but Thijs explained this was an error with Booking.com, so this was a slight disappointment.
- Roger (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room, friendly hosts, great location 70 stairs are a lot to climb for octogenarians
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Levi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Fantastic location - high end apartment - highly recommended - Fantastic stay - excellent hosts- great location Nothing
- Jessica (10/5): Beautiful, we will be back! - This property is stunning, great location within Amsterdam. Thijs met us at the door and helped us up the many flights of stairs with our 30kg bags (legend). The room itself was so comfortable, spotless and the views out to the garden were gorgeous. Complimentary drinks were a nice touch. Thijs sent us a very detailed guide for some of his suggestions around the area, giving a great insight to what we might want to check out during our stay. The building is grand and beautiful, right by a canal. Truly the best place we have stayed at in Amsterdam.
- Jill (10/5): Clean modern & comfy - Traditional & modern Lots of stairs. Ok for us
- Karin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marion (9/5): Excellent accommodation. Peefect for a couple. - Attention to detail (fresh flowers). Complimentry extras. Cleanliness. Stylish.
- Michael (10/5): really enjoyed this break only had 3 days but the hosts could not have been nicer really made us welcome when we go to A - lovely 400 year house on the canal beautifully renovated every thing was fantastic nothing to dislike
- Gillian (9/5): A perfect choice for your Amsterdam trip - It in an ideal location - nestled in a quiet canal street, but only a 10 min walk to the Central Station and Rjiksmuseum. It's in a beautiful, historic building but the room is modern, warm (important in March!) and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the skylight windows overlooking the garden, the comfortable bed and heated floor in the bathroom! Thijs (our host) was super helpful - especially because we had an inconveniently late arrival time, and check-out time - and he shared an amazing list of places to visit/ restaurants/cafes etc. The complimentary drinks were very welcome too. It was fine for us, but other visitors should note the number of stairs to get to the apartment - it is right at the top! You'd struggle with a lot of bags or if you had mobility issues.
And - and this is very minor - there was nowhere to hang our bathroom towels to dry
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Location and quaintness 5 flights of steps
Limited our ability to use the room as we didn't want to climb them more than once a day
- Maya (10/5): Loved it! Perfect for couples - The place was incredible! close to all the cool spots and public transportation, super clean, had an amazing view, and we had everything we needed in it including drinks! The staff was super sweet, helped us with everything we needed and was super polite :) thank you so much for everything! We loved everything, it’s just that the apartment is on a quite high floor (3rd or 4th if i’m not mistaken) and they only have stairs- there’s no elevator! so it was a bit hard for me to walk up and down the stairs every time (especially with the suitcases). I think that it should be taken into consideration but apart from that it was perfect and we loved the place :)
- Tammo (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (9/5): lovely room in prime location - excellent location, well designed and decorated room, Thjis was very kind and accommodating we only got 1 key
- Jones (10/5): Exceptional - Roseanne and her husband were fantastic hosts, they really made my wife's 30th birthday extra special. Not only with the exceptional and unique accommodation in a central location, but with recommending places to eat and visit during our stay. From the very comfortable bed to the modern room design, this was the nicest place we have stayed by far. It's the little touches like fresh flowers, complimentary drinks in the mini fridge, and bath robes that make it stand out from hotel chains. Especially how the place was spotless, their cleaner is definitely one of the best! I read from previous reviews to watch out for the steps, which was good to know, and in our opinion, it only added to the authentic Amsterdam feel. Worth every penny, we will most certainly be looking to visit again! Nothing
- Lucas (9/5): The perfect place for a weekend in Amserdam - The room was quiet, beautifully designed, unbelievably clean and has a wonderfull bed.
The owners were very helpfull and friendly.
Any question we had were welcome and answered in no time.
- Jane (10/5): Such a lovely property. Cosy and peaceful. Location is idea and very central yet very quiet. The bathroom had the additi - The comfort and cleanliness of the property. The hosts were exceptional and very attentive.
- Kenny (10/5): excellent - very clean, great location and lovely service nothing not to like about the property.
- Alex (10/5): Ten out of ten - The location is the best feature but the apartments modern decor, cleanliness and comfort are all reasons why we'll definitely be back! The apartment is on the 4th floor so not ideal for people who struggle with stairs or who have had too many beers
- Dave (9/5): Superb -
- Northernmonk3y (9/5): Amazing time staying in the cosy room and would definitely recommend and go back!! - Lovely stay, within a quiet location but only two streets away from Rembrandtplein's busy square and nightlife scene. The room was cosy and had a lovely relaxing wind down after busy days exploring.
Late check-out upon request which was amazing for us! It allowed our last day to be much more enjoyable rather than having to cart our luggage around with us everywhere! Thank you so much!! I only say these next points so that hopefully the owner can improve. One of the bedside light bulbs had broken so was inconvenient at night time. The room lighting was also an issue, the main two lights in the room were very dimly lit and should really be a lot brighter due to them being the main lights in room. Even with them on full (dimmer switch) it still felt dark.
No housekeeping! This wasn't a major problem for a short stay but we weren't alerted to where we could take out our rubbish so we piled it up next to the small bin in the room. I can imagine that if you stayed here longer this would be an issue.
- Wendy (9/5): Superb -
