Guest Reviews

- Dave (8/5): Nice stay - Convenient to tram 2. Host friendly/helpful. Apartment shows some wear and tear

- Ruimarte (8/5): - Mr Joop let me do the check early in the morning and everything was fine. I would stay here again if i ever come back to Amsterdam in the near future. Very close to direct tram to Amsterdam Centraal and many resturants and stores nearby. the heating could be a little stronger, but it was not too bad.
- Julia (10/5): - Adoramos a hospedagem!
- Guest (10/5): - The apartment is in very nice neighborhood. It is very beautififul and quiet.Joop was very kind and attentive.
- Hanna (7/5): - We rented a room in a two-story apartment where the owner also lives. The room is located on the second floor. There is a double bed in a separate small room, a tiny balcony overlooking the inner courtyard, and a bathroom with a combined toilet and shower. The room also has a small kitchenette and a wardrobe, all arranged in a very compact space.
Of course, the professional photos don’t fully reflect the actual atmosphere, as they are panoramic and idealized. In reality, the room is a bit worn and older. We understood from the beginning that we would only be staying there to sleep, so it was not a problem for us. After coming back in the evenings, it was comfortable to lie down in the bed. I wouldn’t say the bedding was perfectly clean—there were some hairs that weren’t ours—but the bed was soft and comfortable, which we appreciated.
The apartment is in an old building, so the walls aren’t very thick. If you have heavy luggage or are a woman carrying bags upstairs, it can be inconvenient. The owner, an elderly gentleman, was very helpful and showed us everything we needed to know about the room and its facilities. Even though we are experienced travelers and could manage on our own, his assistance was appreciated.
One of the biggest advantages of these apartments is the location. It’s very convenient, close to the city center and all the main attractions, which is very important. The bathroom looks decent, but it’s a small and older space. The carpet isn’t very fresh, and overall, the cleanliness isn’t perfect.
As an experienced traveler, I would say this room is best suited for storing your belongings and spending your days exploring the city. It’s not really a place for relaxing unless you are coming back tired in the evening.
Overall, it served its purpose well for our stay. Wishing everyone wonderful travels!

- Kirsty (9/5): Would definitely stay there again 😊 - Brilliant location, cosy room that felt like you were living in a flat in Amsterdam, very comfortable bed, lovely hot shower, useful kitchenette and very friendly host Decor and furniture a little tired but we couldn’t care less really as didn’t affect the stay
- milo (1/5): never stayed as disgusting - nothing the place is a disgrace the property was disgusting mould, broken slats, old furniture, one cup in the kitchen we didnt stay here and would tell people not to stay here and still not getting any refund its a disgrace.

- Sierra (10/5): Comfortable and homely - Comfortable space, friendly and helpful check-in experience, private and lovely location with kitchen - walking distance to the old part of town. Definitely recommend! Can’t think of anything.
- Dauermann (10/5): Cozy place to get back after long walks in the city - Very nice, quiet , posh, green neighbourhood. Friendly host:) Not too far from the center. A nice Jumbo grocery store is nearby, Vondelpark is close too. Great public transport connection to the airport and to the city. The soundproofing is not perfect from the street, but it's ok. The curtains let too much light through for my wife's liking:) The cutlery in the kitchen is sparingly set up.
- Himesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sonia (8/5): Character unit in prime spot in the Oud Zuid area. - The location was excellent! So easy to get around Amsterdam.
Joop and Bilge communicated well and were very obliging to our requests.
- Estha (8/5): Great Location. - Great location. Friendly hosts. Feels like an authentic Dutch home. Tram and bike rentals just around the corner. Occasional noise from the street at night. So much nicer if the table and carpet were upgraded.
- Marg (5/5): Passable - Steep stairs to room which was basic.
- Chirakorn (8/5): Very good -
- Russell (9/5): Superb - Wood mill is a fantastic little apartment not far from the centre only a tram ride away. There are plenty bars and restaurants nearby too. Lovely place with lovely hosts would definitely recommend the wood mill b&b
- Hanna_ml (9/5): Loved it! - Everything was great – excellent location, clear check-in instructions, very clean and quiet room, an incredibly comfortable bed, and easy communication with the staff (they’re not on-site, but they respond very fast in the chat). An extra bonus: after check-out, we could leave our belongings in the lock room until 8 PM.
Extra-extra bonus: In the evening, we saw a fox near the hotel! the room in the booking photos was different; ours was a bit smaller, and accessing the balcony wasn’t very convenient. But these were minor details – the hotel is truly excellent!
- Ana (9/5): Superb - The owner Joop is the nicest person, very caring and helpful. The accomodation is in great location very accessable to the city center like 20 minutes by tram.Nice and safe part of the city. The studio is nice, but of the date and could be cleaner
- Mia (6/5): Decent room in good neighborhood. - Location proximity to transportation options, away from throngs of tourists. Kitchen equipment was not in good condition. City information in room was very outdated. Pillows not in good condition.
- Melissa (10/5): Lovely stay with a lovely host - A lovely room on a very quiet Amsterdam street, overlooking the garden below. Joop could not have been nicer or more helpful. He is a very lovely man and made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed was very spacious and comfortable, and the small kitchenette was perfect for our needs. This was not a dislike for me personally, but houses in Amsterdam do have narrow stairs so be mindful of that if you have a large suitcase! But the stairs themselves are a very beautiful wood, so please also be mindful to not bump them/dent them :)
- Sara (7/5): It was very nice great place to stay would definitely come again, owner is very sweet and kind room is a good cozy and c - big bed and very comfortable, room is a good size, location is perfect for quickly getting into the centre and also near the main tram stop and shop for groceries. the mini TV didn’t work, the shower was clogged and we had to use a plunger for a bit but managed to unblock it.
- Ian (9/5): Joop was a great host and room was perfect -
- Hend (8/5): Felt like home - The room was spacious in a good location Facilities are a bit worn out
- Hazal (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (1/5): Traumatized about the smell. Might be the worst stay so far in Europe :( - Location I was reading the reviews and was wondering if this was the same place we stayed at :( a lot of things to be said but the smell in the room is unbearable. We dread going back each end of the day because we then have to bear the smell. We couldn’t even open the window since it was cold and the bathroom exhaust isn’t even enough to relive us of the unpleasant smell in the bathroom alone. Everything feels dirty I didn’t dare touch anything in the kitchen area. The lights in the bathroom went out during our last 2 days and honestly, we’re very hopeless we didn’t even bother notifying the host. All other things - bad wifi, steep stairs, 2 beds put together as “double”, curtains not blacked out, bad lighting, we can do away BUT THE SMELL? I’m sorry to say this, were extremely traumatising for us. Not sure if housekeepers were on shortage since this was during the New Year’s holiday.
- Anastasiia (10/5): Exceptional - I really liked the apartment. We greeted me well, clean, cozy, large windows added atmosphere. I really liked the location of the apartment, 40 minutes walk to the center or you can take the tram, but I really liked the area and I enjoyed walking. It was my birthday and I was congratulated with a bottle of wine, it was very nice! Definitely worth the money. I'll be happy to come back more than once!
- Melania (8/5): Great location and an excellent host - Excellent location, close to the start and finish of the marathon. Joop, the elderly gentleman who owns the place was very friendly, helpful and accomodating. The bed was comfortable, we both slept very well. The studio's set up and decoration is a bit outdated and on the older side and there was a smell coming from the bathroom.
- Simona (8/5): Very nice owner, excellent location, shops nearby. Cosy room. -
- Mihaela (9/5): Excellent! -
- Doherty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (9/5): A lovely place to stay - The property is in a beautiful neighborhood. Easy to reach from the airport, the city center is close. The building and the flat is really authentic.
- Mrsic (5/5): Passable - Location, peaceful area, well connected and easy to get transportation to the center Outdated furniture and bathroom, definitely pictures are not matching
- Daphné (6/5): Pleasant - Close to public transport. Kind host. Big double bed and small kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave and stove. Kitchen utensils, bedding and towels provided. Old amenities and single pane glass windows so noise from the outside can heard a lot, thankfully the street was fairly calm. No blackout curtains.
- Alan (8/5): Very good - Great size apartment, large bed , separate kitchen , separate bathroom , reasonably quiet location . Tram & bus stops nearby .
Located in a beautiful street with large trees Narrow spiral staircase to apartment
Washing machine didn't work
Needs a blanket as duvet was a bit too warm
Lights are not great
- Özgür (8/5): Price performance - Location is great, tram station is close, near supermarket. Coffee and supllies are good. Could be cleaner, specifically the bathroom. The carpet floor is not a good choice. There are two beds joined as one king size you fall between
- Valeria (6/5): Bad cleanliness - The room is really big and comfortable, it has a very organized kitchen with microwave and fridge, and also a washing machine! There is also a big table to have breakfast, and a sofa as well. The bed was really comfortable!! Very bad cleanliness! I'm so sorry, the staff was really kind and super welcoming, but the room was really dirty. Mold on the walls, carpet full of dust, greasy microwave, smoke smell in the bathroom, dirty sheets.
The whole room needs maintenance.
- Patrice (10/5): Exceptional - Joop was always available if needed. Room and accommodations were great. First night was very cold in the room. It was cold and rainy in Amsterdam. JOOP SAVED THE DAY and added a heater to my room. Thank you. It was quite an enjoyable visit.
- Helen (10/5): Highly recommended! Would stay there again - Close to tram #2 and bus to airport. Nice walk yo the park as well A bit noisy due to construction across. Not the property’s fault. Could also hear aircraft in the morning
- Steph (10/5): Perfect stay for a family of 4 - The place was nice and clean, with very comfortable beds and cooking equipment. It was really quiet at night which meant we got good sleep. The little balcony was perfect to enjoy the sunshine.
Staff was very welcoming. It is also nicely located close to a tram stop so getting into the city centre was convenient. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we did not eat there. I definitely recommend Wooden Mill! Nothing negative, but a fresh lick of paint on the walls would make it extra nice.
- Carlo (1/5): Bad - Nothing. Terrible experience. When we saw the place, we actually left and went to another hotel.
- Gill (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly and helpful host who went the extra mile. Booking.coms upgrade charge!
- Svetlana (9/5): Superb - Excellent location and really attentive owner Dim lighting in the room
- Keith (10/5): Comfort and location - Great property with a great location, easy access on the bus from the airport and able to walk into the center through a park in about 30 minutes. Friendly and welcoming owner
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect, right beside the tram stop. Great neighbourhood to walk around and visit.
The room was perfect, had everything we needed and was really cosy.
Joop was amazing! So helpful and kind.
- Giorgio (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic - Massive room, fantastic kitchenette (including coffee pods for fantastic coffees), lovely shower, all spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. Tram stop 3/4 min walk away.
- Herma (7/5): Good - Location and back room is quiet. Very kind host. Pictures are from some years ago. Accommodations are very comfortable and small but that's expected in Amsterdam. Be aware you have to climb some steep narrow stairs to the second floor. Rooms could use some TLC.
- Francesca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohamed (10/5): Awesome stay - Great location besides tram station and the room is clean, also there’s a market nearby.
The room view is amazing and has balcony.
The host is very nice and awesome. Nothing
- Muskan (7/5): Good -
- Leonardo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lexie (6/5): Strange room in hosts house, not entire apartment - Location was good Listed as an entire apartment but it is just one of two rooms with an ensuite above the hosts living quarters. Very odd vibe, felt like you were living in their house, rather than your own place.
Room was not clean when we arrived and host had no idea when we were checking out, subsequently knocking on our door one morning waking us up asking if we were leaving.
- Z (4/5): convenient location, but don’t recommend staying here - location, easy access to transit dirty, dusty, generally icky
- Gstuarts (8/5): Good place to stay a few days in Amsterdam - The room has everything you may need for a short stay in Amsterdam. The owners live in the same building, which is convenient for check in and in case of any issues (we didnt have any). The double bed is actually made with two single beds put together. That is not quite the same. It is a far walk to the center (40-50 mins) but tram stop is close and gets you there.
- Siana (8/5): Very good - Great location, close access to food and drink as well as public transport. Very easy to navigate. Large room with clean facilities.
- Dor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Glad I chose this place in a great area of Amsterdam - Exactly as described, spacious, very comfy bed, kitchen and bathroom ideal. The owner is very friendly but also leaves you to do your own thing. Always available if required. Great neighborhood away from the centre. Nothing.
- Gomes (7/5): Good - great locations, amazing restauran near, very quite place. The table need to be fix.
- German (10/5): Exceptional -
- Towfika (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): The Dark Guy To Carry An Angel - the owner and staff
location leaving
- Manvi (9/5): Superb -
- Noelia (9/5): Confortable and cozy apartment near Vondelpark - The place was really comfortable, with a big kitchen, balcony and bathroom. The neighborhood is charming, very quiet. You can easily walk to the center through Voldelpark or you can take tram n°2. We really loved this place, I think with a few details (new towels, new carpet, some paint etc) it could be a real gem in Amsterdam. It doesn't have room service, but it's nice that no one bothers you. However, if you need anything, the owner lives downstairs. The towels were old and had small holes, and the carpet might need updating, but I think these were minor details
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - I really liked the Staff, Bilge was very kind and helpful. The location was really convenient, and easy to take transportation further into the city. The room was spacious and comfortable
- Sheken (7/5): Finding the charm in Amsterdam! - We rented both rooms, my husband & I stayed in the larger room and our friend stayed in the smaller room. It was nice to have the second floor to ourselves. We appreciated that we could drop off our luggage (3 lg. suitcases & 3 backpacks) at 10:30 am and explore the area before checking in at 1pm. We liked the area and found great places to eat at and felt very safe the entire time. The owner is nice but we only saw him twice. His housekeeper is so sweet and did her best to prep the rooms for us.(we only saw her on check in day & we stayed for 3 days)). The wifi is great, beds are comfortable, kitchen amenities are a plus, nice coffee makers, loved the balconies, and it's a quiet neighborhood. Price is good for Amsterdam! And lastly, we were pleased to have the owner & his assistant help us arrange a (lg.) Taxi service (check in day) to pick us up on departure day! Stated as a B&B is misleading...there's no breakfast included. There was no mention of the very narrow & steep staircase which we had to negotiate with 3, 49 lbs., suitcases, 3 backpacks & 2 carry-on bags to the rooms that are on the 2nd floor. ( luckily we are 3 people in good shape, in our 70's, that could accomplish this unforseen task.) The pictures of the rooms must be from several years ago....in actuality the rooms are showing their age & not the same layout in smaller room. There is a washing machine but looks like it hasn't been used in a decade & you'd need a step stool to even reach it. No air-conditioning but good radiant heater. We only saw the owner twice..day one & day 4 at check out. My husband, our friend and I are seasoned travelers and go with the flow but we all felt mislead with posted description to actuality.
