Guest Reviews
- Karen (8/5): Overall I liked it , the view of the canal also nice. - It was clean and the location was great , good food near by
A happening restaurant next door The separate upstairs bathroom however it was a nice bathroom.
The stairs are very difficult to navigate especially with luggage
- ilse (7/5): - Heel mooie ligging Geluidsoverlast- enkele beglazing waardoor je alles op straat kon horen
Heel kleine lavabo in de badkamer
- Bettina (10/5): - - Lage
- freundlicher Gastgeber
- komfortables Zimmer

- Allan (10/5): Wonderful experience, Max, Puck and Willem are so nice ! -
- Steven (9/5): A great place in a great place! - A very cute place in an excellent location. Willem was incredibly kind and attentive during our stay (even helping get our very heavy bags up the narrow staircase), and we particularly enjoyed the bay windows over the canal. The room was well-appointed and cozy. We weren't expecting to just have a room with a separate (private) bathroom in the house. I believe the room with a separate bathroom has more space, but the other room is more private. The place could have been a little cleaner / better maintained (a few minor cleanliness issues, some furnishings were well worn). As mentioned in the listing, the stairs are very steep.
- Ela (10/5): Best location, lovely room, very friendly landlord - Fantastic location - not in the crowded tourist areas but in a beautiful, vibrant and safe neighborhood full of cafes and pubs where locals hang out.
Very pretty room design - the window bay is a lovely detail amd great for watching the canals and bypassers.
Great landlord - so friendly, helpful and always welcoming.
Will definitely stay here in future visits to Amsterdam. Everything was great!
- Ana Sofia (9/5): - Very nice location, with beautiful views to the canals. Max was a wonderful host, he joined us for a nap and delighted us with his air biscuits! Would definitely recommend, specially if you love cats. A bit noisy at night but not unexpected given central location.
- Heli (10/5): Memorable stay in the centre of Amsterdam - Authentic accommodation in the centre of Amsterdam. All the narrow stairs were worth climb - the view from the window was so worth it, plus very spacious bathroom with bath and shower. Very friendly host Willem and his both cats who made the stay even more memorable. Nothing to dislike.
- Chiara (9/5): Lovely stay with a great view and a feline surprise! - Loved the super central location on the canal, loved the big window, loved how it felt like a real home, but most of all loved Max the cat. We missed our cats back home and cuddling him until we fell asleep was really the highlight of our trip. It was nice to chat with Willem, and we loved the decor and feel of the building. Also, the heating system was great and the bed was very comfy. Picking this place to stay made our trip even more special. The staircase is very narrow (as most are in Amsterdam) and it’s a real challenge to bring your suitcases upstairs, and the sink in our room was so small it was kind of hard to wash your teeth without getting the floor wet. But apart from these two things, everything was perfect.
Tekrar Amsterdam’a gelirsem ilk durağım yine burası olacaktır… Merdivenler biraz fazla dik ve dardı 😅
- Anselmo (10/5): One of greatest places I've stayed at. - Everything was great! The room was amazing, and everything was exactly as shown in the pictures. The host (Williem) was kind and very helpful, and he shared a lot of information about the best places to visit in Amsterdam. The location of the B&B was also amazing, less than a kilometer from the most well-known places in Amsterdam.

- Gabrielle (8/5): Historical canal house with views over canal in great location! - The history of the canal house, talking to Willem, his cats, the view, the bathroom, the location. The water leaks…but they didn’t directly affect us.
- Marios (10/5): - Perfect location, perfect host
- Kristin (9/5): Everything was picturesque, every single thing. - Location & scenic views inside and out. The stairs were tricky but standard for Amsterdam.
- Serdar Şengüler (8/5): Feel Amsterdam - Location and Canal view is very good..

- Marina (10/5): - The location is excellent , everything is within a 10–15 minute walk along beautiful streets. The hotel owner was very kind; it was my birthday on the day of arrival, and we were greeted with a surprise: a bottle of sparkling wine and delicious chocolate. The room was clean, and the view from the panoramic windows was stunning. It’s a place I would love to return to again.

- Linda (10/5): Joyful time staying in this authentic, beautiful townhome right on a canal - The owner, William, was extremely welcoming and helpful. He even created a personalized AI-generated song to welcome me to the property! The location could not be beat with an amazing view of the canal and in a cute, accessible neighborhood. Amsterdam is a very vertical city, and this lovely building is classic. It has a quite steep circular staircase. We were able to manage fine at age 61 and with light luggage. It ended up being a charming addition to our stay, but anyone with moderate mobility issues should at least be aware and consider discussing with the owner before booking.
- janice (10/5): Perfect location, setting with a table overlooking the Canal. Willem the host was so personable & helpful! - Fabulous setting overlooking the Canal! Everything perfect!
- Claudia (10/5): -
- Chrun (10/5): - Great views, comfortable bed, sizeable washroom. Clean and good walking distance for sightseeing.
- Lana (9/5): Willem was so sweet he helped us when we we asked for anything - Location and view is amazing
- debbie (9/5): Lovely spot next to the canal - Great location on prinsegracht with view of the canal. Easy to walk everywhere and tram only about 50m away. Apartment has everything you need to make it home away from home.... kettle, small fridge and basic cutlery and crockery
- Neil (9/5): Comfy stay with a view! - Location Location Location! Comfy Bed and wonderful view out over the Prinsengracht You do have to get use to a typical Dutch Staircase! Of course this only adds the charm to your stay but less mobile may find it difficult
- Erin (10/5): -
- M (10/5): - The concert, the view from window, location and jacuzzi Great owner and property managers
- Krikor Jimy (10/5): -
- Subir (10/5): - Willem was a superb host , helpful and very interesting conversationalist. Helped carry my wife's bag up the steep stairs which were a unique attraction in themselves.
Location is very central without the hustle bustle of the City Centre. Beautiful view of the canal from the window. Lots of bars and restaurants with different cuisines around the area
His 2 cats Max and Burt were an added attraction. Cute , cuddly and very friendly.
Came back with great memories. Thanks Willem ! Nothing
- Florencia (10/5): - Todo!!!!
- Lucy (9/5): A real gem in the heart of the most wonderful city. - This was our first visit to Amsterdam and A B&B was an exceptional find! Our experience of the city was made all the more special staying in a such a vibrant area.
We got a real feel of Amsterdam staying in a traditional house by the canal and we loved the buzz of the restaurants and cafes from the street below. The large bay window meant that we never missed a moment of what Amsterdam has to offer.
The host was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. He greeted us with a welcoming smile and gave us lots of great information to help make the most of our stay.
If we ever return to Amsterdam we would only want to stay here! Absolutely nothing! We hope to come back soon.
- Michał (10/5): Great location and view on the canal, walking distance to most attractions, bars and restaurants. - Great location, close and walking distance to most attractions and places we wanted to visit and the view on the canal was great too. Host was very helping us navigate and provided suggestions for places to go. Whenever someone was walking up or down the stairs you could hear it from inside the room.
- Despina (10/5): -
- Carin (10/5): Absolutely fantastic! - Everything was great! The location, the host (and his cats). The room was also exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved our stay and hope to come back soon.
- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful canal view with Lovely Host - Willheim was very accommodating. It was quite warm while we were there and he got a fan, made sure it was cleaned really well and delivered it to our room. He also gave us a little baggie of laundry detergent when I enquired where there was a laundromat. Willheim was readily available to answer questions as well. A Lovely stay. The 2 cats were adorable but just know you are living in their house and they will visit. But you could put them out. I loved having Max around occasionally. A microwave would have been nice and somone else mentioned comfy chairs at the bay window. The canal view is gorgeous and would have been nice to have 2 small but comfortable chairs to have a drink in your room but there are nice places to sit at the restaurants right down on the street.
- Christine (8/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the location is excellent. We walked everywhere we needed to go. The room has large windows with a very nice view of the canal. Room was small but pleasant. The bathroom was very small with a tiny tiny sink. Stairway narrow and steep which was OK for us but would be a challenge for some people.
- Virginia (10/5): We felt integrated into life in Amsterdam! - During our time in Amsterdam, my husband and I were overwhelmed by the kindness of the people, which began with our stay at a B&B. Willem greeted us as soon as we got out of our cab and assisted us with our luggage up the very steep winding stairs to the third floor. He showed us how to do it as easily as possible and it helped a lot!
We had the upper room bedroom, and our bathroom was up another flight of stairs. Both rooms were comfortable, spacious, and light-filled. Climbing the stairs in the middle of the night was not ideal, but it added to the charm of our stay. We enjoyed sitting in the little bedroom nook overlooking the canal.
Willem and his friends often sit in front of the house in the evenings with some wine and cheese. They graciously invited us to join in their conversation. It was wonderful to meet many of his neighbors and friends.
The neighborhood is a bit removed from some of the main tourist areas, but also has several fantastic restaurants within a short walk, and the entire city is very walkable. I suggest renting a bike from Black Bikes around the corner. But be careful, biking is serious business in Amsterdam. We enjoyed everything about our stay. Some people complain about the stairs, and they are steep. But my husband and I were able to get our 100 pounds of luggage up there with little difficulty, and Willem assisted. I think it added to the charm of our stay.

- Isuru (10/5): We loved staying at A B&B Amsterdam! - Absolutely loved staying in Willem’s place in Amsterdam. Beautiful location, gorgeous view of the canal and so close to amazing restaurants and transport. Willem’s cats, Max and Puck are so lovely too, nice to have a little pet during our stay. The shower was quite open which was a bit difficult to keep water from entering the rest of the bathroom, but not a big deal at all. Stairs are a steep but that’s very normal for Amsterdam I assume.
- C (10/5): Light comfortable room with view and very well located. - Light and airy room with great view of Princesengracht Canal. Very close to several Cafes and good restaurants. Tram into centre only 100m away. Central enough to walk to many attractions. Cats an added bonus. As mentioned in description of property due to design of Amsterdams town houses stairs very steep.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - This is a really cute place to stay with windows all along one wall overlooking a canal in a great location. The host was welcoming and very helpful. He carried our bags up and down the steep stairs for us and we really appreciated that.
- Aliki (9/5): Superb -
- Zulianah (9/5): Relaxed and comfortable. - We like the toilet with the bathtub. The bed and pillows were comfortable Nil
- Brenda (10/5): Highly recommend. Beautiful area. Excellent canals views. Very central. - Stunning canal views and perfect location. Not a thing
- Micaela (10/5): Unforgettable experience! - Everything! The comfort and coziness of the room, it was in a great spot for all the tours we wanted to do. The location could not be better for wat we needed: in the centre, in front of a canal and still quiet during the night. William, the host, was brilliant, he was always checking if we needed anything and that everything was going perfect. Thanks for making our stay memorable! We loved everything and for next time back we are going to try to get the same apartment.
- Gina (10/5): Great stay and Williem was a great host! - Property is in a great location and really liked staying in a canal house. We enjoyed sitting in window watching the sights. Nothing. People should be aware of the steep stairs but this is common in all canal houses.
- Ermal (10/5): Wonderful - Very lovely apartment with all amenities you need. Perfect for couples, romantic views over the canal. The bathroom has an unique design. People who like to take long relaxative baths will enjoy it.
Willem the host is very helpful and detailed oriented guy. You will feel like home.
The center is 20 minutes walk, but you can take the tram if you wish, which is 1 minutes walk from the apartment.
The neighborhood has a lot of restaurants and bars. Bloemenmarkt is 5 minutes away.
- Hsiang (9/5): Great location and host! - The location and friendly and accommodating host. A bit awkward to have to go through an offi e during office hour, to the room.
- Jiamiao (10/5): Picturesque canal view and purring cats - I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Williem, who is very pleasant to talk to. If you’re a cat person like me, don’t miss out on this place. Max is such a sweetheart, always greeting me at the door and rubbing on me for attention. Puck is a shy tortie girl, but she let me pet her. If you visit, please be kind to the cats as they truly make this place special.
The stairs are quite steep, not a flaw, but part of what gives this historic building (built in 1692!) so much personality. Just something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues. That I can't take Max with me
- Lyndsey (10/5): A wonderful stay in the beautiful city of Amster - Fantastic location. Slightly away from the tourist area so quiet but with great bars and restaurants. The room had a wonderful view of the canal from the bay window. Very comfortable bed and good coffee machine. Very friendly host. Nothing
- Andrii (10/5): Amazing location and view - Amazing location and view
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aoife (10/5): Exceptional -
- Flavio (10/5): Exceptional - thank you willem for your hospitality! We enjoyed our stay a lot and appreciated your uncomplicated manner with allowing us to make an early check-in :) greetings Flavio & Simone everything was perfect. we liked the cozy room a lot.
- Jhuneil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (10/5): A fabulous stay in Amsterdam so we booked next year! - Location overlooking canal There is nothing not to like
- Matthaios (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abhishek (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing property. Such a homely atmosphere and great views. Didn’t feel like leaving the room
- Marek (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and cozy apartment. Location could not be better. Very nice host and adorable cats. (I am not a cat person, but these were just adorable)
- Fragkiskos (8/5): Beautiful, small, picturesque apartment in a central location. The staff is polite and helpful. - Beautiful, small, picturesque apartment in a central location, next to tram stop 4. It overlooks the Prinsengrach Canal. Around the apartment there is a bar cafe and a supermarket. It's not a hotel. It has the basics for a short day stay. It does not have daily cleaning. It takes some small interventions in the apartment to make it more comfortable. The 2 wooden doors have holes and need repair and painting. The wall behind the clothes hanger has a lot of marks and needs repainting. Sleeping pillows definitely need replacement.
- Andrew (9/5): Brilliant apartment with lovely view over canal. Friendly hosts, you will love it! - Great location walking distance to main part of town without being too close to all the tourist areas. Plenty of cafes and restaurants all around. Well appointed room with lovely view over the canal and all facilities. Hosts were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again! Very narrow stairs would be difficult for less mobile travellers.
- Michelle (10/5): Highly recommend! - The location was great, close to everything we needed. The view over the canal was magical! The host was super friendly and made sure we had everything to enjoy our time. Max, the cat, spent some time playing with us in our room, which made it feel very at home.
- Samantha (8/5): Great stay at Willem’s air BnB - From Amsterdam Centraal, it’s just off #4 Tram stop, so super easy location . Once settled, any POI is easily walkable. Willem was a gracious and engaging host, offering restaurant suggestions and direction’s. Max the cat was the welcome committee, greeting us every time we walked in the door. The bed is super comfy, plenty of towels, toiletries and coffee! The only suggestion I have is to have more comfortable chairs by the window. We loved having a glass of wine and watching the boats travel along the canal and people watch the restaurants below
- Marta (9/5): Great place to stay in Amsterdam, super location! - Cute room with amazing view at one of Amsterdam's main canals. Great location - tram stop 20m away :) many good restaurants/bars/pubs just around the corner. Very helpful and kind host Willem ❤️ adorable cats keeping us company in our room 😀 super nice place in Amsterdam, if you are visiting for few days! Would stay there again when we come back to visit this amazing city! Could be a little loud outside due to bars located nearby, but it really didn't bother us much :)
- Justine (9/5): Warm hospitality and an experience I will remember fondly for a long time. - The location of the property was excellent in a lovely street on a canal. It was lovely to open the windows onto the lively, bustling street below. Willem was an excellent host and was there to greet me and show me around. I loved being in an authentic Amsterdam dwelling rather an impersonal hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. Close to nice, local cafes and bars and far enough away from the tourists “hot spots”. Nothing really. There was some noise from the bars below but it didn’t stop me from sleeping very soundly and it is expected in inner city areas.
- Jeanne (10/5): Enjoyable few days spent in Amsterdam. - Warm friendly welcome by host & cats ! Location perfect, great for cafes restaurants & all top attractions, museums, Anne Frank, Canal cruise etc
Cozy room with stunning views & balcony, comfortable bed & all very clean. Enjoyed our stay & would recommend.
- Jae (1/5): Bad - too much noisy from bar till 4am
- Gibbs (10/5): It was a cozy space close to everything you could need! - Willem was very helpful and kind. He provided us with a safe, comfortable space to stay for two nights.
- Tracie (9/5): A charming room in a perfect location with a gracious host! - Located on a lovely canal in a charming neighborhood. The room is well appointed with a little sitting area where you can open the window to allow the sounds of the cafes below to drift in. The owner is welcoming and helped us get our luggage to our room. The stairs are a little challenging but I found they made the property even more charming as they are truly the traditional Dutch staircase. The tram stop is just steps away so you have quick access to the rest of the city. Nothing. I would definitely stay here again.
- Jingyi (7/5): Good - The location of this room is great, right next to the tram station, it's very convenient to take tram 4 to anywhere. It's not far from tourist attractions such as Dam Square. The Wi-Fi speed in the room is excellent. The host also provided us with stroop wafels, coffee and tea for breakfast. The balcony of the room faces the canal, with beautiful scenery. The key is in the key box with code outside the door. There is no air conditioning in the room. The two days we stayed there happened to be the hottest time in the Netherlands, and it was stuffy staying in the room. The host has two cats, who are very hospitable and lively, and they would climb onto our bed. Although I like them, my mother is afraid of cats and has high requirements for cleanliness. If you don't like pets or are allergic to animal hair, booking this room is not recommended.
In addition, our room is on the first floor, and the spiral staircase is very narrow and difficult to climb. It is also hard to bring our luggage to the first floor. We left our luggage on the 0th floor, but the 0th floor is the host's office area with several desks and computers, although no one was there when we checked in. It is not friendly for people with mobility problems or carrying large luggage.
The wash basin in the room is really small, but it is not a big problem. The bar downstairs is very noisy at night, and it still affects sleep even with all windows closed. Sound insulation needs to be improved.
In short, the stay experience did not meet our expectation.
- Lorinda (10/5): Loooooved this property and will stay here again when we visit Amsterdam in the future. Absolutely beautiful and the loc - Loooooved this property and will stay here again when we visit Amsterdam in the future. Absolutely beautiful and the location was great - a quiet area close enough to the city center but far enough removed from the crowds and noise. Some scary steps if you're not used to Dutch style houses, but we got used to them pretty quickly and didn't have any injuries 😊
- Maria-elisa (10/5): Perfect location in lovely area and very nice view - The location was perfect for discovering central Amsterdam and lovely picturesque atmosphere in the streets around the area. Also a lot of restaurants, cafes and small shops nearby. Very nice view from the room window to the canal and boats floating by. Friendly and kind host. Definitely would recommend this place to a friend. Everything was good. One small note to people who want total quietness while sleeping, that the street noise is heard to the apartment, but it wasn’t a problem for us.
- Mark (10/5): Great stay and Perfect Location - Willem was a super host and very helpful. It’s in a great location (center), no more than a 15 minute walk to all the museums and most of the landmarks you would want to see in Amsterdam. I believe the furtherest we walked was 25 minutes to Ann Frank.
- Eglė (10/5): Felt like home! - The room was tidy, cozy and had everything we needed and more. The location is perfect, although I would recommend bringing earplugs, if you are sensitive to noise and go to sleep early :) (noise is not an issue later in the night though). We especially loved the nice little balcony - it provided the special experience of living on a canal. We are also thankful for the owner’s hospitality and warmth. The highlight and definitely the best bonus were the two cats! -
- Verneri (9/5): Superb -
- Rainyday28 (9/5): Superb - Lots of lovely places to eat nearby. Great view from the room over the canal. Max the beautiful cat also gives a warm welcome.
- Millie (10/5): Lovely stay in the perfect location - We had a lovely stay at Willems place! It was a great location, only a 15/20 mins walk to most of the main places we wanted to visit.
The room was lovely with a beautiful view of the canal. The bed was so comfy after a long day of walking!
I couldn’t fault Willem either, he was so friendly and made us feel really welcome and comfortable in his home.
Also the shower was amazing! 😁 Nothing 😊
- Bezkokotova (10/5): Unique flat in a quart central location - Great location: quiet and central. Unique home design.
There are lovely two cats living in the house.
Bear in mind - there are steep narrow steps up to the room.
