Guest Reviews
- Benjamin Golby (10/5): Brilliant place - I really like Ottoman Suites and will come stay here again soon.
The rooms and building are great. Stylish as pictured. The neighbourhood is lovely: got a nice vibe, close to everything, but also not in the thick of it with its own peace and charm. Breakfast is a joy.
The cats are the best.
But it’s Gülşah and her team that make the place. Couldn’t ask for kinder, more hospitable and full of the best advice. I’m so grateful and thank you for having me.
See you soon ✌🏽
- Tabi (10/5): Cozy welcoming guests house with garden cafe - Very well cared for guesthouse with friendly and attentive staff. I love the human touch that hotels don’t have. The breakfast was delicious. Traveling with young kids it’s really nice to have a garden cafe downstairs with lots of food options. The location was a bit off the beaten path, but that’s also what made it great. Not in the thick of it. A little bit of traffic noise from the street, but not really at night, and not that’s bad.
- EvaJansone (10/5): - This hotel is a real gem in the Asian side of Istanbul. Very beautiful vintage design with a special feeling. Nice breakfast, tasty coffee and friendly kittens in hotel's diner. Amazing, lush garden. Bus stop near the hotel.
- Adnan (8/5): Comfortable stay, although not recommended for longer stays because commuting can be tedious! - The property is an old restored property with an exquisite quaint feel.
The cafe is a picturesque place to have breakfast, which is yummy.
Public transport is very close by, although one has to point out that travelling by bus in Istanbul can be rather time-consuming.
The picturesque instagram-famous-neighbourhood of Kuzguncuk, with its lovely shops, delicious cafes is just 15 minutes downhill walk from the property. The room we stayed in was tiny, almost cramped for two people with two suitcases. The bathroom, although very clean and functional, had rather low water pressure. There was no safe in the room, something we have almost come to expect as standard in rooms, especially for boutique properties like this.
Other than Kuzguncuk there isnt much else to see within walking distance.

- MarHard (10/5): - Sehr gutes Frühstück, sehr nette Gastgeber, schönes Zimmer im historischen Gebäude.
- Abdul Aziz (10/5): -
- Achim (10/5): The place to be, if you love tradition, style & comfort - The Landlady was very welcoming, strongly supporting and could be contacted ( in the case of an emergency ) round the clock.
WE had very interesting chats wirh her.
The breakfast was delicious.
The Chalet / House is so charming and well kept- a bit like a beautiful museum.
- Maria (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much. The owner and other staff were very helpful. Rooms are very stylish and clean. We were provided with everything we needed. A big bonus is a very pleasant restaurant as a part of the hotel. We will come back!))
Thank you
- Cristina (10/5): An authentic experience, we loved it! - This place feels more of a home than a hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay, it was an authentic experience. Loved the house and the neighbourhood, also their garden restaurant. The breakfast was generous and delicios, great coffee. The owner and the staff were very nice and helpful. We will gladly come back! -

- Katarzyna (10/5): - I was looking for a place that could be recognized as authentic turkish style and i found that one. If you want to try accomodation that feels original, with a great breakfast, i could recommend you that one. The room was very cozy, bed was comfortable, everything was clean. Good contact with owners. It has been our first time in Istanbul and now im pretty sure that Ottoman Suites took part in making that trip memorable. To be honest i can't remember anything i can complain about.
- Nataliya (10/5): -
- Li (8/5): -
- Kali (10/5): I would want to come here again and again and again it is a magical place - The property is absolutely beautiful. I felt like coming home. I even had some of the same decor in my own home and there was so much love in every little detail The only thing that I struggled with was the water pressure and the heat of the water it was a little bit cooler than I like and the pressure was not that good in our shower
- Rahn (10/5): -

- Shalini (8/5): - The staff were super friendly and great. Met with the owner as well and they were super helpful as well. Gave us tips on where we should go and visit which are pocket friendly. Lovely stay and the location was great as well. nearby bus and metro available which made our trip even more friendly. And also not to forget the cute cats around which topped it all off. thank you again and would come back when we visit Istanbul again. The heater in the room was a bit old, hence it wasn't working that well. and also the bidet in the toilet could be better as the placement of the spray was not great (that could be the manufacturing issue of the toilet bowl). everything else was great!.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Abdelhafid (10/5): -
- Mouloud (6/5): Ca va dans l'ensemble - Trop petit. Ca correspond a un studio. Acceuil de la gérante
- Kate (10/5): Charming and comfortable home with excellent breakfast and helpful staff. - Breakfast was superb. Coffee was excellent- it is rare to find espresso drinks offered with Turkish breakfasts, so we were very pleasantly surprised.
Details and decoration were charming and classy. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful with great English. The courtyard and cafe offered a peaceful respite from the chaos of Istanbul.
We were traveling with our two children, 3yo and. 9mo, so the family suite was perfect. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly with our kids.
They helped arrange a transfer from the airport, which was very helpful. If you have never been to Istanbul, the location is a little bit out of the way from most big tourist locations, but we loved being in a new part of the city that wasn’t overrun with tourists. Public transport is easy to use, and getting around was no problem.

- Kate (8/5): I felt very comfortable and safe and slept well. - Characterful and charming Plumbing needs a bit of work
- Tanja (10/5): -
- Natasha (9/5): - Beautiful old house with a lovely cafe for breakfast. Great location with many buses. Super friendly cats! All good
- Maksim (10/5): - 1.
- David (10/5): - This is a wonderful hotel, fantastic staff, excellent location. Food wis lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel, faultless. Istanbul is wonderful also,. I will return again and stay at this hotel
- Nicola (10/5): A delightful place to stay with great character and lovely staff. - The whole house, including bedrooms, was beautifully furnished in traditional Ottoman style and it felt like a family home rather than a bland anonymous place to pass through. Unlike many larger hotels, it had real character. The owners and staff were all friendly and helpful at all times, answering questions, recommending places to eat and visit and chatting to guests - they seemed genuinely interested in their guests. The cafe that is part of the hotel was lovely - we had wonderful breakfasts there. The location was great and the building was set back from a small road so it felt quiet and private. The neighbourhood was also very interesting - altogether a great place to stay if you want to have more than just the standard tourist experience of Istanbul. And getting to other parts of the city was really easy by metro, ferry or bus. Nothing.
Personnel attentif insonorisation plafond
- Teodora-Mihaela (10/5): Locație bună, camere curate și mic dejun bogat și diversificat. -
- Ciausu Claudia (10/5): -
- Ingrid (10/5): - Ligging goed gelegen.
- Rodeerick (8/5): - meeting Turkish peopole and learning about Turkey
- Gulsen (8/5): -
- Luigi (8/5): -
- Cha.GS (10/5): -
- Florinda (10/5): -
- Aysu (10/5): Wenn man in Geschichte tauchen will, muss man die Nächte hier verbringen!
- Barbie (10/5): - I absolutely loved my stay here! The hotel has a charming old-style atmosphere, yet it’s very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The family who runs it is incredibly warm and welcoming, which made the experience feel even more special. The garden is beautiful and the breakfast was amazing — fresh, generous, and full of local flavors. I highly recommend this place, especially for longer stays. For sure I will be back!
- Silvia (9/5): -
- Jamshid (10/5): I'll definitely come here back again - Excellent
- Muhammad (9/5): Superb -
- Taisiya (8/5): Very good - Nice location, good restaurant, great breakfast
- bkccoastalca (10/5): Perfect and authentic feel! - This hotel was perfect!! Very friendly and helpful. Gulsah was so very helpful with logistics and suggestions for what to see, how to get from here to there, and where to eat locally. On this trip, I previously had stayed at two hotels in the Old City, and this was my final Türkiye Istanbul stay (after flying in via Izmir from my Sirince/Selcuk visits). My total trip was 3 weeks, at this hotel for 4 nights.
A very comfortable, clean home/hotel with traditional decor from the family, wonderful architectural details... it all lent to a friendly, quiet ambience. My bed was super comfortable and I slept so well! I had the top floor bedroom (lots of winding stairs to my room but it did not bother me, and is part of the inherent architectural character). The room had pleasant neighborhood views above the garden. My room also had a balcony terrace that I didn't use as the nights were cooler during my stay and I was out most of the day.
I booked this hotel based on reviews on other sites, and was interested in the Asian Side of Istanbul. A neighbor of mine here in LA is from Istanbul and suggested the Asian side, and as I had previously stayed in the Old City, to try it for a more local feel. I loved this quiet location and the hotel.
The included breakfast in the cafe downstairs was perfect. I purchased lunch here, and also a delicious dinner one night.
If you are a walker like I am, the pleasant walk down the hill to the Kuzguncuk is worth it; that neighborhood has the colored, restored houses and more local boutiques and cafes, and then to the waterside for great views to the other side. There is also an easy bus line right by the hotel that is takes 15 minutes to nearby Kadikoy, which is a food haven. Also easy and nice to take a ferry across to the old or new city, which I took to the new city to see the Istanbul Modern Art Museum and more on that side.
The hotel can help with suggestions and direct you and also arrange taxi for airport (you pay directly to driver, mine was inexpensive and accepted credit card).
I highly recommend this hotel! I felt so comfortable, and Gulsah and their team were very friendly and helpful and great conversations with her that reconfirmed how much I like travelling. Plus their suggestions for the area and how to get around.

Plus their suggestions (more I describe below) and it is easy and nice to take a ferry across to the other side of the city.
While I was "travel-tired" after three weeks and not looking forward to my long return direct flight to LA California, I also did not want to leave as I felt the good energy here at this hotel.
And so, someday I must come back! I WANT TO RETURN and stay here again!!
Thanks so much!! HEY, ALL SMILES!! I LIKED EVERYTHING HERE!! VERY HAPPY! THANKS SO MUCH!
so here are some notes for fellow travelers...as I type too much and out of room in above section.
The hotel has great suggestions for all side of the city and how to get around. Gulsah and Vedas are also available easily via WhatsApp for any questions. And they have restaurant suggestions in Uskudar and Kadikoy (in Kadikoy it is a foodie mecca, I took a foodie tour with friends on both sides of the city earlier in my trip, and Kadikoy has tons of options).
It is easy to get to Istanbul's other sides from here via ferry (I used the available hotel's Istanbul Transport card), so one day I walked to the Uskudar ferries and went across to the New City to explore including the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art.
Another day, I walked down the hill to see Kuzguncuk Uskudar area with its colorful old homes plus the nearby shops and cafes on the leafy pleasant avenue. I had fresh squeezed orange juice at a garden nursery/breakfast cafe along the way. Then I continued over to see the Beylerbeyi Palace and walked back up the hill to return to hotel. Might be too much walking for some, but there is plenty of transportation options and the hotel has great instructions for getting around.
One day I used hotel transport card for bus line 12A to/from Kadikoy to spend most of my last day there (I was there earlier on my trip while on a foodie tour with friends). I also explored areas of Kadikoy that were more local.
This Hotel will help with booking a ride back to airports if necessary. I decided to let them book taxi for me to IST airport which was helpful (I paid taxi driver direct) rather than using the app.
(Brief outline of my trip: I stayed initially in the Old City, then flew to Trabzon, then returned to Old City at another hotel to be near visiting friends, then flew to Izmir for Sirince and Selcuk (Ephesus) , then my final stay here.)
I WANT TO RETURN HERE!! :)
- Esther (8/5): Nice hotel for a getaway, short stay - The hotel is in a nice area. The café is very beautiful and the house as well. Overpriced rooms, the staff was distant and not attentive with us. They made us wait 10mins with no explanation. Breakfast was way too simple for the price.
- Mirza (10/5): Istanbul vibes - I loved the atmosphere and the very caring staff, they really looked after us. loved the breakfast and freshly brewed coffee ☕. My wife and love cats and we miss ZubZub the most loveable cat in Istanbul 😺
- Jill (10/5): This place is fabulous I would definitely recommend staying here. - Such a Beautiful House. Loved our stay there it was magical.
Breakfast was excellent and we had that in their cafe which is in the grounds of the suites. We ate in the cafe mostly and the food was very good.
The owners made us very welcome and were kind. Everything was perfect.
- Karla (10/5): Excellent stay! Warmly recommended!! - Beautifull hotel the rooms are beautifully renovated! The owner are very welcoming and ready to help out with anything needed! The hotel is located in a great area in walking distance of spots with excellent view on the Bosphorus. The hotel was very easy accesible by public transport. I enjoyed alot my stay and would warmly recommend it and hapily come back next time!
The traditional turkish breakfast in their wo derdull garden was a delight and a plus to the already great stay!!
- Dijana (10/5): Exceptional - "I longed for a stay steeped in Ottoman charm, and this quaint little haven answered that call. Wrapped in greenery and graced with timeless design, the house felt like a dream etched in wood and stone. From the moment we passed through the welcoming door, wandered the serene lobby, and entered our room, every corner whispered beauty and left memories blooming in its wake." That question doesn’t quite apply here—it simply doesn’t fit the situation.
- Vadym (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loredana (10/5): Exceptional - Was a beautiful accomodation. An old house really well preserved. I loved the host and their hospitality. Food was delicous. I totally recommend it
- Marat (10/5): Highly recommend to those interested in getting real Istanbul experience. - Excellent personnel, location is great for those interested in exploring Uskudar, very clean and good fast in design.
- Ernesto (9/5): Superb - Beautiful traditional house, kept with love and hard work. Nothing
- Asma (9/5): Superb -
- Salome (10/5): One of the most romantic guesthouses - Great breakfast, excellent service cute room, what's there not to love? Everything was great!
- Barnaby (10/5): Beautiful historical place to stay with the most delicious breakfast - The property is a beautiful historical home with many original period features retained in the rooms and building. The garden and modern cafe next door are a wonderful contrast to the historical building and a lovely setting for breakfasts. Speaking of, the breakfast is delicious and incredibly generous - setting you up for a big day of site seeing. The staff were all so welcoming and so kind, allowing us to leave our bags at the hotel after check out to explore the city. Just be sure you are comfortable about the location. It is a little out of the central areas and up a hill. We knew this was the case and enjoyed seeing a bit more of a typical neighbourhood and experiencing daily life. However for shorter trips or those who don’t want to travel much it might not be suitable. However regular buses to the seafront run almost immediately outside down the hill and then you can enjoy the romantic ferry journey across the Bosporus.
- Mai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kutubi (10/5): Wonderful Stay Overall - everything was wonderful about my stay. the room, the linen service and character of the home. the cafe is also fantastic with a delicious breakfast it's a historic home so the odd creak of wood can be heard. I am a light sleeper so usually need complete quiet.
- Miaasa (9/5): Lovely - The place was very cozy and the staff very friendly and exceptionaly sweet..the breakfast was really good and we enjoied every bit of it..although it opens at 9 and i had to leave for my meetings earlier the host was kind to preper my meal the night before and leave it in myroom..she even gave me her istanbul kart for bus transportation that made my trip alot easier.. there was house keeping services as well..and the host was very helpful and mindful all through our stay
(10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff, good location; and room was amazing
- C (8/5): Very good - I stayed 2 nights in the suites. I loved the nostalgic charm of the house and room. They maintained the authenticity with antique furniture, which was a lovely touch. Staff was very helpful. 1. The breakfast was average, as I was expecting to have an authentic Turkish or Ottoman-style experience.
2. I had to extend my stay due to unforeseen circumstances, and they offered me a room in a separate garden building. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable damp smell, and smoke constantly drifted in from the garden.
- Mehmet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agshin (9/5): Excellent value for money and comfortable stay! - It was one of my best stays in Istanbul. Great location, friendly staff, beautiful, authentic building and comfortable rooms. We also enjoyed very rich Turkish breakfast served. Nothing.
- Melihsa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (9/5): The setting of the cafe is so cool. - Staying in an old Ottoman house is so special.
- Barbara (10/5): A lovely 2 day stay that we thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend to others! - It is a beautiful property built at the end of the Ottoman era. A family home and a family run business together with the cafe. Everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful too. Not applicable
- Volkan (4/5): Not worth; unpleasant. - They tried to charge me for the bad coffee I had during included breakfast. There is no procedure for check-in and check-out or for anything. This place is not worth if you want a peace of mind.
- Nurtasnim (9/5): Don’t leave Istanbul without staying here! - Everything!
- Adam (10/5): It’ll be your second home in istanbul - It literally felt like home , it was super cosy and warm , the staff were really welcoming and helpful, beds were super comfy and the breakfast was delicious, the location was perfect in front of krurçeşme bus station and I recommend you visit kuzgunçuk its really fun and great for taking photos its in walking distance from the hotel. They didn’t replace the towels other than that its perfect!
- Sandy_sunday_ (10/5): A great, traditional stay! - I can't express how happy and grateful I am for this beautiful place! People were very welcoming and helpful, they were waiting for me until late. The decoration is exceptional, I felt like I was getting hosted by a traditional Turkish house. The cleaning was great, everything was spotless. I wish I could spend more nights there, I will definitely go back. It's pretty obvious that the owners love what they do and they have put so much love and attention to every detail! I wish the breakfast could start a bit earlier. Be also mindful that the prayer starts at 4:30 am and you might be a bit surprised but the Imam had a great voice so I didn't mind it after all.
- Média (8/5): A warm and cozy home away from home with lovely kind host and staff 😊 - Love the old house with story. It feels being at ‘home’. Also very much enjoyed having the café and all the homemade food. Breakfast is excellent! Ms Gülșah and everyone in the café are all very kind and helpful which makes the stay double joyful. We had a tiny room and once there were guests in the room above us, it got very noisy. Being an old house of course every step sounds massive.

- Jean (10/5): Exceptional - It is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. It was fantastic - there is absolutely nothing to complain about.
- Traveler29645968812 (4/5): Inconsiderate Host - Cons
- disorganized, inconsiderate host
- uncomfortable bed/pillows
- loud
- terrible location
Pros
- quaint, cafe on site, breakfast included, clean
- good for backpackers on a budget, not ideal for those that can afford to stay elsewhere
Of note, I booked the suite for extra space for packing- last night in Istanbul. Wanted to spend 1 night on Asian side. Checked-in, showered, unpacked including 2 full suitcases of souvenirs for reorganization. Went to cafe for dinner at 8pm and host demanded that we move immediately into a different room as they had made a mistake. She would not allow us to eat dinner first. She was unwilling to even comp our dinner for the inconvenience. She was very unorganized and inconsiderate. Ultimately, I went up to the room to pack and found email confirmation that we were in the correct room. This made for a very stressful experience. I am an MD and have travelled all over the world. This was the worst experience with a host that I can recall.
