Guest Reviews
- Việt (9/5): "Hidden gem" at the center Ha Noi with quiet and peaceful vibe - - Convenient location only takes 5mins to Hoan Kiem lake, Ancient Town Ha Noi and other attractions
- Upper-floor room with kitchen having street view.
- It was in fashion street so it is really quiet and pleasant until these shops open at 10am
- Quiet and peaceful vibe The restroom is a bit dark because the light is dim but it would not be a big problem.
- Daniel (10/5): Cool place and very friendly owner! -

- Tuong Huy (10/5): - “Wonderful place in the Old Quarter at the best price! The location is perfect—next to a park, a lake for morning walks, and two Japanese supermarkets. The street is full of tasty local food, cozy restaurants, and affordable salons and spas. The room is big and bright with a nice street view, private smoking corner, and a clean separate toilet. I loved the modern touches like the big TV and high-quality Bluetooth speaker. Mornings can be lively with food stalls downstairs, but it’s all part of the charm and convenience of staying here.”
- Masegosa (3/5): For us not worth the price! Payed around 80€ for 3 nights but walking through the dark corridor, being exposed to the mo - Just the location (nearby a mall and a lake) even tough its around 20mins walking distance from the old quarter. Above all: air quality. When we came in the room, it had a strong smell of mould, windows weren’t opened for quite long it seemed. There is also a humidifier but its not enough. Our clothes and things catched the smell. We really suffered thinking on breathing the air. We turned on the ac and fan and made it slightly better.
1. Entry to the property: there is a dark (no light) corridor shared with other properties. Then going upstairs looks also moldy.
2. General look: wall in the corridor look dirty and saw roaches on our way up to the room. Creepy look.
3. Bathroom is outside the room, so no privacy. Also quite dirty when we arrived. There was alot of water splashed on the toilet seat and the floor was wet.
4. Poor air quality: nothing dries in there! Water on the bathroom doesn’t dry in general. So always humid. And keeping the windows opened was a risk to get rats in the room.
5. Kitchen is dirty and (mould) stinky. we were told by the host to keep the window closed since rats can come in there’s the neighbours roof with wood and leafes perfect where rats can climb. I saw two crawling down there.
6. Bed sheets didn’t smell cleaned, they were dark blue and we still spotted hairs. We asked the host to change them and since we were not around we got them changed one day before we left.

- Summer (10/5): Exceptional - Such a lovely place and the host was so kind too! Really clean and everything worked well. Cute area and would 100% recommend 😊
- Allwyn (10/5): Comfortable spacious room with kitchen in Hanoi - Very nice big room with all amenities and kitchen space. Owner is around for any help when required. Bathroom was outside the room but with plenty of hot water and all facilities. It was not a problem for us. The area is also well located with local restaurants and cafes and very easy to navigate around. Thank you Nothing
- Marta (8/5): Very good - Amazing owner
Great location
Beautiful paints in the room
- Massimiliano (5/5): Be aware of what you book! - Tưởng, the owner, is very nice and accommodating. He was always willing to provide help when needed. He even went to buy a lemon squeezer when I asked if he had one. However, this didn't really make up for the disappointing rooming situation. It's important to know that there are two very different rooms available in this residence. I booked the cheapest one, thinking there was not that much difference, but the difference is consistent. The pictures are quite elusive. Tưởng is a photographer and can take very good shots. First, the room doesn't look at all as in the pictures (see pics attached). Second, the kitchen develops in the walkway on top of the stairway, and you will share it with him. He will be cooking right outside of your bedroom, which makes for very little privacy. He also lives in the room on the other side of the small walkway, which reduces privacy even more. The worst part is the bathroom, though! It is an open space behind the kitchen partially covered with fiberglass. I was in Hanoi during the cold season, and it was very uncomfortable to get out of the room to pee during the night or shower in the morning. I was there one month and ended up showering at a gym close to the apartment, where I had made a subscription. I adapt very easily to all sorts of situations, but for many, this would have been a nightmare! I definitely paid too much for what I got!

- Monkhochir (9/5): Nice host and affordable price - Host was very nice. Affordable price. On advertisement it was said that check out time was till 00:00 am so i thought late check-out was included in the price which is the main reason i chose this place. I paid additional 40% for late check out. Other than that it was good.
- Dieu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nestor (5/5): Good enough to stay but is not like the pictures - The place is in a very good location. The host is very kind and helpful, and speak very good English. It has all the facilites needed and the wifi works very well. The place has nothing to do with the pictures. The bathroom is outside the room and has only a plastic roof which let rain water get into the place. The common kitchen is not very clean.
- Hoang (9/5): Superb -
- Claudine (8/5): Very good -
- Chun (9/5): Superb - Well worth the money. Owner is super nice and hospitable :)
- Vladimir (8/5): Very good - The location is good, the price is perfect, comfy bad, good internet, The cleanliness, everything was quite dirty. A little bit noisy.
Also, there is a common kitchen, shower, and toilet that are outside of apartments. So you have to get your pants on before going there, and it's god damn hot there.
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Wonderful host, lovely personal furnishings and decorations, spacious, view of the street life, access to plenty of eating and regular shops/supermarket and located outside of the Old Quarter. The walk into the lake and Old Quarter is not far and very interesting. I’ve stayed in Hanoi four times and have always chosen to be away from the tourist centre. The apartment is located on a busy road and overlooks the traffic one floor below. As such it is noisy until about 11pm with the traffic resuming about 7am. So you can still get your regular sleep.
- Magdalena (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, close to the old town, you can walk, but still far from the noise. The owner helped us arrange the trip by bus to Ninh Bing and he was very kind and helpful in a way, so we think he is a nice guy, but too relaxed for the owner. We informed the owner about our arrival on time, but we waited for 30 minutes outside the building, in the end a vietnamese woman who stayed there in the other apartment helped us to collect the keys, the owner did not come. Most of all, we complain about the cleanliness of the apartment. The kitchen was unusable because all the utensils were quite dirty. There was hair in the bathtub. The whole apartment would have better potential, with adequate hygiene.
- Matthew (10/5): Superb base for exploring Hanoi: great host, a cool interior, and a great neighbourhood. - This is a very well designed flat - stylish and airy and full of great plants... with a big bedroom and excellent facilities. The owner, Tuong Huy, is an artist with great taste and a worldly, cool and discreet but very helpful manner (also speaks excellent English and has lived around Europe). I still don't know Hanoi so well but so far I still prefer this neighbourhood for its local feel and convenience to all the other parts I've visited. (Huge shopping mall nearby if needed, but full of local restaurants and cafes and v few tourists - yet only a 25-min walk into the old quarter.) An excellent place to return to from the more manic parts of Hanoi.
- Leina (9/5): Superb -
- Samuel (9/5): Superb -
- Iuliia (10/5): Cozy apartment with artistic atmosphere - • Beautifully decorated private apartment on lively, but not very noisy street. Paintings even in bathroom, stylish details, a lot of mirrors. Private art gallery atmosphere. Kitchen view on crossroad is everything! Real Hanoi city life through windows.
• Friendly and helpful host.
• Great location 10-15 min by foot to Hoan Kiem Lake, Old Quarter and other historical places. A lot of cafe, massage & shops near, no nightlife after 22:00, so you can peacefully sleep.
• Ac & fans, big sunny personal bathroom with window, comfy bed, sofa, smart tv.
• Cozy greenhouse style kitchen has table & chairs, big fridge, coffee maker, electric stove, kettle, a lot of dishes and cookware, adorable tea cups and bowls, fan and huge tropical plants. Nice sunny place to drink coffee and sit in front of opened window peacefully watching city life. It was sad to leave, we wanted to stay more. It was like real home away from home!
- Henning (10/5): Exceptional - Great and big apartment with an artistic style.
Kitchen with everything needed and very nice terrace to sit.
Very Kind owner and the apartment is well located.
All over we just felt very comfortable and really liked to stay at this place.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Haixiey (10/5): Must stay at hanoi - Facility great. Hospitality superb. The staircase to the room.
- Clara (10/5): Great experience in a very comfortable and authentic house - Authentic homestay, artistic atmosphere, clean and well-furnished room in a nice house with a pretty balcony, in a pleasant suburb of Hanoï. I also appreciated being very well welcomed by the owner.
- Ngoc (10/5): Highly reco - A truly relaxing place with lots of natural light. I was surprised that it was soooo fully furnished and make us feel like home. The owner was welcoming and supportive. Though the location is not right in the city center, it’s about a few kilometres away which makes it fine to walk towards there. The area is quiet and has many restaurants which can leave you a food adventure 😋
- Chu (9/5): warm and fuzzy - Nice room and best location Bathroom quite cold :)
- Minh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nc11 (9/5): Superb -
- Butler (10/5): Exceptional - The host was impeccable! He was very kind, patient, welcoming, and always ready to help. He made easing into Hanoi much easier. He was very insightful on all things Hanoi, and it was always a pleasure to interact with him. You get an authentic experience staying at The First Ba Trieu and the amazing art and host is a big bonus. It's in the city center, so prepare to hear the city. This was not a con for me, but may be for someone looking for something more quiet.
