• GERHARD (10/5): Great value; caring host - All the needed facilities were provided and some extras, like an electric mattress cover and umbrellas. The hotel is located just 5 minutes on foot from the old town. There is a front desk, which made the check-in easy and provided support during our stay. The host showed concern about our well-being and was very responsive to our requests. A minor issue in one of the two rooms that we rented was that the water in the bathroom did not drain well when showering.

Sdb vitrée ! (Mais il y a un rideau) La personne à l’accueil est très sympa et aidante. Lave-linge dispos gratuitement et roof top avec vue sur le lac et la montagne. Pas de petit déjeuner contrairement à ce que le nom peut laisser penser.

We arrived late, and one of the staff walked us to a solitary restaurant that was still open. He didn't just give us directions, he walked us there himself :) Rooms were a good size. Comfy bed, good shower. Located a short walk from the old city walls. There is a washing machine you can use, you can hang clothes on the rooftop Wifi wasn't the best. Even by Chinese standards it was hard to use!

The laundry machine is in use for free. The beautiful flowered house is just across the ancient town but in a quiet area with all you need for food and drink. Walking distance to the three pagodas and temple. Walking distance to the cable cars to Cangshan. (Both of them). Bus number 4 direct to the train station. All clean and warm shower.😀 Sweet cats. Beautiful people. After a trip to Lijiang and Shangri-La I came back to Monster BB for few more days. Highly recommended. I'll be back. Keep the room on the third floor for me 🙏 😂 Nothing. Everything was perfect. The best ever 😄😍

The host was very kind calling didi for us when the waiting line got very busy. the translation device used by the host was really helpful for communication.

The room was nice and large with electric blankets, air-conditioning, desk and table and chairs. Only 5 min walk to Dali ancient town roof-Top terrace to watch sunrise over the lake. Owner is very helpful, communicating with a translation device and taking our bags up the stairs. Would stay again. The location was shown on booking.com map was wrong, putting the street name and number provided into google maps gives the correct location .

Additionally it is very close to Dali old town and to the cable cars for hiking. It is not directly in downtown and that is why it is relatively calm there. Highly recommend! The location was a bout a ten minute walk up a small hill from the main part of the old town and the bus station. We enjoyed the walk but it’s not in the center of attention.

• Janice (10/5): A very convenient location for walking to the Ancient City 古城。 - Lovely modern room and bathroom. I loved the heated bed! It was a bit cool at night (beginning of November). The taxi driver could not find it from the English name, so I had him call the place.

Good communication prior to check in, with staff sharing directions on how to get there by public transport. Cleanliness of the room was an issue with the desk not clean, the pillows smelled and the floor wasn't washed. We stayed for 3 days and the bins were never emptied and we were only given 1 toilet roll for 2 people to last the three days. A deep clean was needed.

• Mark (10/5): Spacious and very comfortable - The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. It was very relaxing to sit on the verandah or rooftop and listen to the nearby stream gurgling away.

• Nelly (9/5): Beautiful scenery - The room is nice and cozy. The host of the place is very nice, friendly and accommodating. He picked us up from the main road near the ancient town when we arrived and also helped us booked bus tickets to Lijiang when we leave. Location is about 10 minutes slow walk to the ancient town of Dali, and there are alot of restaurants nearby the accommodation. You can also do your laundry at the accommodation. You can watch the beautiful sunrise and sunset at the roof top garden. And they also have 2 lovely cats. The bathroom door of the unit that we were staying in was creaky so it was abit noisy if someone was to use the toilet at night. Other than that, everything was good and fine.

Unfortunately there were noisy guests who stayed up very late and a demented goose next door who woke us early in the mornings. The decor is lovely. The rooftop view is good. it was great to be able to wash and dry clothes. There are some authentic restaurants close by if you don't want to eat in the ancient town. The noise.

Owners are super friendly and have a perfectly working translation computer and can help you out with everything. Very beautiful building with a very nice roof top terrace. The rooms were perfect and the location is the best you can have in Dali. It’s not in the (sometimes overcrowded) old centre, but a few minutes walk from it in a very nice quite neighbourhood that feels a bit like a village on its own. It’s also on walking distance from the trails and lift up to mountain. Nothing honestly

• Vivian (8/5): Nice guesthouse in a quiet part of town - The manger allowed me to choose a more quiet room when I got there. The bed was comfortable and had a heating pad. The manager was kind and helped me to book a ride to Lijiang in the early morning. There were some hiccups in that the van was not on time and I had to wait for another car. I know the manager felt bad, but he was very kind to be up in the early morning to communicate the with transport company on my behalf because I did not have a Chinese mobile number. The location was a little difficult to find. But overall, it was fine because I prefer to stay in a more quiet and local part of town rather in the touristy area of Dali.

• Gek (9/5): A quiet and comfortable place with friendly hosts and not far from the ancient town - Although the location is a little hard to find, the host can pick the guests up from the nearest bus stop (wish we knew that), which isn't really near. It's not too far a walk to the ancient town and there are eateries, convenient stores and electric bike rentals nearby. The host and hostess are friendly and helpful. We loved our tatami + futons style beds and spacious room and toilet. Hot shower is great. The kettle in the room is in good condition. Wifi is strong and fast (in China standard). Guests can use their washing machine and roof top space to hang laundry. The journey from the railway station to the nearest bus stop was all good but dragging big luggage to cross that busy G214 main road with metal obstacles at the pedestrian crossing was only the first challenge. Pulling the luggage uphill to look for the B&B was a great cardio exercise, if you think positively. As mentioned, the host can pick you up at the bus stop and save you the troubles.

• Velezmoro (8/5): Great value for money stay near Dali Ancient Town - Lovely place to stay in the hills just outside Dali Ancient Town. The place is rustic but clean and our host very friendly. Even though the staff didn’t speak English they helped to communicate via translation apps. The place has an amazing view of the mountains and lake from the rooftop and they also have a washing machine you can use free of charge. Overall the price is very reasonable. The shower floods the bathroom floor but was not a major inconvenience for us. Worth bearing in mind that there was no food service when we were there but there are a number of eateries nearby for breakfast and dinner.

We had breakfast included in our booking so we were served hearty local fare such as millet porridge, eggs, dumplings and meat buns. Room was clean and comfy. Highly recommended!

• David (8/5): Good location for visiting the main places of interest, apart from the long uphill walk back - Although it's called Monster B & B, there was no breakfast, so we cooked our own, plus got stuff from nearby cafe/ The owner was very helpful carrying our suitcases up two flights. It was a reasonable walk down to the old city, about 15 minutes. The room was very clean and new looking. Although it was advertised mastercard and visa accepted, my UK cards didn't work, so I had to pay 5 nights in cash, which used up all my spare cash and wasn't convenient. I raised the issue with Booking.com but didn't receive a reply yet-about 3 days ago, instead of 24 hours as advertised.

• Anna (10/5): Wish I could stay longer - -the location is close to Dali ancient city, so it’s very convenient but not noisy, and you can find mini supermarket, restaurants and places to rent E-bike to drive around Erhai Lake -the host Mr. Gao, Ms. Wu, their staff and their two cats are very friendly and always willing to help and know your stories. Plus Ms. Wu cooks very well;) -the room is very clean and big -they offer self service free laundry on the rooftop where you also can watch sunrise and sunset -they have free fruits and tea to share with everyone nothing
• Tiphanie30 (10/5): 100% recommend this hotel - This family is amazingly welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and generous, i loved discover some special food from dali, we felt like eating at home. We definitely will be back to this place 100%. The room is spacious with good light and clean. The bed is comfortable and we appreciated the electric blanket. The room have a good wifi. The location is perfect for visiting the old town and the three pagodas. The place is in quiet small street.
• John (10/5): What a gem! - I was very happy to stay here on my trip to Dali. The guest house is conveniently located within walking distance between the old town and Cangshan Mountain. It is also within walking distance of the Three Pagodas. The rooms are nice and very comfortable. Some rooms have great views down to Erhai Lake and the mountains. The breakfasts provided are huge! I am usually a big eater but I couldn't finish all the food. The big highlight for me was the staff. They were all vwry kind and cheerful. I very much enjoyed my stay here and would be happy to stay here again. Happy with everything.

• Sebastian (9/5): Superb - Very nice staff! It’s fun talking with them through their translator device. Free laundry, nice rooftop view. Area with cheap restaurants and walkable to old town. (Walk home is uphill tho) I didn’t realize breakfast was included.
• .nattan. (10/5): Exceptional - The family is very nice, they were helpful with everything and generous. I would definitely come back. Very nice breakfast, the owner made sure you have enough energy for the whole morning. I highly recommend it.
