Guest Reviews
- abdullah (1/5): - سيء للغايه
- Izabela (10/5): -
- Hans (8/5): - Der Manager ist extrem hilfreich, freundlich, unaufdringlich und zuvorkommend.
- Ariane Lage Alves (10/5): - Everything is perfect!!! The family that takes care of the hotel is super sweet and kind. The location is the best, with less than 10 minutes' walk to the Pyramids. My room and bathroom were extremely clean and organized, with everything a customer needs, including mini-fridge and an eletric kettle. Air conditioning and TV are also present. The breakfast is very tasty, there is also a sandwich place on the side of the hotel with excellent options. NA
- Ahmed (9/5): Superb - Friendly and clean rooms
- Cw (3/5): Cheap room but expensive add-on. Terrible room condition especially in cold night around 10 degree. - Host was kind to take us around the neighborhood. 1. Rooms with no hot water, leaking bathrooms and unusable toilet.
2. Terrible mattress and little/poor heating.
3. Expensive pyramid tour (70 USD per person + extra tips).
4. Expensive papyrus (1000 LE which can be purchase at least 10 times less in Cairo)
5. Poor English skill
- Jefferson (7/5): Rollercoaster of a trip. - Very close to the Pyramids of Giza, great view of the pyramids, good wifi, pleasant room, satellite tv and comfy bed.
If I didn’t have to stay in the horrible room on the top floor, I would have given this homestay a 8/10 When I arrived i was greeted by a woman who didn’t speak any English and she got a young boy, no older than 12 to deal with me, he told there was a problem with my room, so I was put into a spare room on the top floor, outside the room was a building site with people in and out all day working. The room was disgusting, I was considering leaving but I was told my room would be ready the next day, it was not. I also didn’t have a private bathroom for those two days, I had to use a bathroom the builders were also using and it was filthy. I ended up staying in this room for two nights, luckily I had things planned so I only slept there.
Breakfast was not nice, a small tray of different breads.
There is no reception so you have to knock on doors that the hosts live in and hope that they are in. On two occasions, two very young children opened the door with no adult there and spoke no English, so I couldn’t speak to anyone about my issues.
Also, the shower was not very efficient, only a small amount of water coming out of the head.
- Javed (9/5): Superb - it close to great pyramids no comment
- Sunitha (10/5): Exceptional - It's clean,good, and peaceful All good
- Lena-teresa (10/5): Exceptional - The location was very nice. It was our best location in Egypt. The room was small, but big enough and the terrace was very nice with the view on the pyramids. The entrance to the Pyramids it's like 500 meters away. The host is very nice and all the family. They helped us a lot and we enjoied the stay a a lot. Everything was good :)
- Abraham (9/5): Good stay... Close to the pyramids. - Great care by Asma. She was there to help whenever we needed anything. Kudos.
- Kausik (10/5): Feeling like staying inside Pyramids - Everything..... Especially Location and Value of Money! Nothing to mention......
- Matthew (6/5): Good for price - Property let us store our bags before and after our stay in lobby - breakfast included was an array of pastries, close to pyramids Good for price

- Omar (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Abo Stait was very good value for money. You get what you pay for. Rooftop space needs attention . - Host and Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Close to KFC and lovely bakery down the street. Difficulty in finding the place . Our UBER missed pick up EVERY time. Very noisy street also. Recommendation= Roof top space has SO much potential.
- Qadeer (5/5): Passable -
- Qadeer (7/5): Good -
- Ayano (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice family run place.. and the closest to pyramids.
Will reccomend.
- Marilu (8/5): Very good - Location is perfect to go pyramids.
Room is simple but is good. We have difficulty to find the local, we call many times and nobody answer.
But when we find the hosts we're very friendly.
- Jakub (10/5): Exceptional - The host & the breakfast were amazing!
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - Really friendly host family! Our flights in and out of Cairo were changed and we arrived and left in the middle of the night which was no problem - very accommodating. Free breakfast was a nice start to the day. Ideal location to visit the pyramids and a lovely view of them from the rooftop! We loved our stay here!
- Sara (8/5): Very good -
- Lilianademitri (10/5): Exceptional - The host Karim, and his family are absolute gems!
They make you feel home and part of their family. Good hearted people that will help you as much as they can to make you enjoy your stay. Super available and humble people.
The place is cozy humble and super safe.
It is 2 min walking distance from the pyramids gates and you have an excellent view from their terrace!
I definitely recommend this place to anyone!
- Alexandra (9/5): nice homestay and close to the pyramids! - clean room and friendly family:) the rooftop is different to the photos on booking
- Michele (1/5): Bad -
- Zia (8/5): A good stay close to pyramids value for money - The location, value for money. easy access to the pyramids and also can watch it from the terrace. plenty of shops around. KFC is at walkable distance which itself is the best part if you dont like bargaining for the price of food. No door in the toilets only a curtain. clearly unpleasant if you care about privacy.
- Evgeniya (6/5): it’s not worth the money - location is ok, but there is a square with horses for tourists just in front of the house, so it’s quite loud and messy from early morning it doesn’t worth the money (even though it is cheap). shits were dirty, with hairs, no bedsheet, just a blanket (I’m not sure if they wash it after each client)
- Donald (7/5): Good - The location was great being so close to the Pyramids where from the rooftop you could watch the light show or just marvel at these ancient structures. I enjoyed sitting on the rooftop as it headed to sunset and watching the colours change on the Pyramids. Being in Giza also makes it better than being stuck in busy Cairo and it's only a thirty minute Uber ride to Tahrir Square if the traffic its kind. Plenty of places nearby to eat and good coffee and the Mango Cafe near the ticket office.
Good hot shower in the morn after a simple breakfast of breads. At this time of the year there is a big of a chill in the air and it would have been good if the air conditioning worked in the room. I never asked the host about it but I tried every possible combination to see if I could get it to work and I could not I have these in my own home.
I slept OK only when the barking dogs outside went to sleep. There was too much noise for me in this location and I did not sleep at all well. The dogs, which there are many in the square are a pest.
This is a working neighbourhood for the camels and horses and so you have to be careful where you step when you are out and about.
The Homestay itself is OK, however because of the location I would have to find a quieter place to stay if I return to Cairo.
- Javed (10/5): kareem brother and his family's was very good and always helping with everything i need it - was very nice simple breakfast no comment
- Christopher (8/5): Great. - Staff were helpful, location was great, very close to the secondary entrance to the periods (which is the best entrance to use), and there was a great view of the pyramids from the roof. I wouldn't expect it to be any better but in terms of the quality of the rooms this is a budget option. If you want luxury this isn't it, but it is a great price and we were very happy here.
- Shahreen (10/5): budget friendly, perfect location for pyramids - brilliant location. budget friendly. good shower. amazing hospitality, the owners arrange our evening meal when we arrived late, and allowed us to leave out backpacks there the following day. would recommend. good WiFi connection mattress is sleepable but not the best. noisy environment from surrounding street
- Bookingnavigator1 (9/5): Superb - The rooms look nicely and kinda modernly furnished. That's good to know because there are no pics showing the rooms here on booking.com
- Bookingnavigator1 (9/5): Nice stay - very good location, quiet and very near to the entrance to the pyramids. great pyramids view from the room and from the rooftop.
- Thomas (8/5): Right next to the Giza Plateau - Conveniently located 500m away from the Sphinx, it made going in and out of the Giza Plateau a breeze.
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional - Extra friendly host, even made us dinner after a long day of travelling. Room was clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the pyramids, and one of the best views from the roof terrace, thank you again
- Cristiano (8/5): Very good - Hady is a very kind and helpful host. The room is comfortable and has space enough to accommodate 1 or 2 people. Very close to the pyramids you get the place in 2 minutes. From the terrace you can also see them. Internet connection doesn't work very well. Breakfast could be more carefully prepared and the terrace has a lot of potencial but it's a bit abandoned. The neighborhood is too noisy all night long. Difficult to sleep.
- Robert (3/5): Disappointing - The location directly at the pyramids and the view from the terrace. Cant understand the good ratings here. The accomodation was not like described in booking.com. The room was noisy due to the near square and activity of people until the early morning. The shower was cold and bathroom dirty. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. Internet connection nearly not existent. Smell of fresh paint in the room caused headache. Breakfast was a real joke. We got small buns in a plastic bag with cheap cheese that tasted bad. Not even any drink included. We even had to ask for tea. The owner arranged a guide for the pyramids who was basically only a driver. He charged 80 Euro for 2 persons for a day (Giza and Sakara pyramids) in which he sit most of the time only in the car waiting for us. Nearly no explanation about anything was given. He brought us to an overpriced tourist restaurant, probably got deals with this. In the afternoon his mood changed quickly not talking anymore and he was not able to bring us to a sunset place for watching the pyramids. Afterwards we were explained by the owner that he wanted to finish his working day already at 4 pm which was not told before.
- Tomasz (8/5): Very good - It was quite cheap comparing to other options. The owners were helpful but I had a feeling that whatever I asked can cost me extra money, but maybe it is a climate of Egyptian hotels that you are not sure when and for what you are charged extra. It is not that I don't like it if we take price into consideration but the room looked like it wasn't properly finished with painting, lighting and so on.
- Elsayyad (8/5): Very good -
- Ane (10/5): Exceptional - The family is really nice, warm and helpfull. If I ever go back to Cairo i would visit them for sure. The terrace of the homestay is also fantastic with kitchen and incredible view of the pyramids. Thanks
- Pavel (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): Great hospitality and awesome host! - The homestay host is very accommodating and sweet. Breakfast is good in this price range. The room and bathroom are clean and newly remolded. It was a great experience to stay at Abo Stait! The water from
the shower head in the bathroom is not strong enough. Other than that, it was good.
- Abd (9/5): Superb -
- Mohamed (1/5): Bad place - I cancelled reservation I cancelled reservation
- Abi (4/5): Dissapoint - Personal, AC. Old bad, the wardrobe are full with their own clouther u cant put your own.
Not have fridge in room. The fridge is in livingroom. But if u want to use it u have to pay 100 pfunt(5€) even if its arelady on and they use it and have place.
Kitchen u can't use also. For this money really expensive.
Breakfast to small.
It was preety dirty. They have to clean a little bit room when someone come.
Not have night light. I have to make on tv where no chanel on it and to use light from tv.
Not have electric near bett and night table So if u want charge mobile phone or something u have to live your phone close to the door.
P.S.The person is kind but i must be a real and write all what i didnt like. I hope they will fix it.
- Omar (8/5): Very good -
- Nibgha (7/5): Good -
- Obayed (10/5): Exceptional - It's very near and the owner was a very cordial and helpful person .,..
The washroom was huge with all facility
I will suggest other people...for safest and best place in giza
- Volha (10/5): Exceptional - The owners of the hostel are a friendly family who genuinely care about their guests.
Nice room with air conditioning, comfortable bed, shower and toilet in the room. There is a dining room with a refrigerator and a kitchen.
You can climb to the roof and observe the pyramids and the surroundings. On the neighboring streets there are shops, a pharmacy, a bank with an ATM, small street cafes.
I thank the owner of the hostel Karim for the warm welcome 🤗
I recommend this place 💜
