Guest Reviews
- Mctaggart (10/5): Lovely surroundings, great hospitality and very relaxing! - The Hidden Gem is a great bed and breakfast tucked in the Walkerville area, which as cute shops and fantastic restaurants. We have stayed at the Hidden Gem many times, and it is always a "10!" The owners are wonderful people and stay on the property, so anything you need they help with. The breakfasts ( and fresh cookies) are absolutely amazing!! Can't think of a thing!

- Thomas (10/5): Whenever we go back to Windsor we know exactly where we'll be staying. - Location was fabulous. 4 minutes to Casino by car, 10 minutes by bus and stops are very close walking. Close to scenic riverfront. Beautiful century old neighborhood and gorgeously maintained B&B. Lots of locally owned shops, restaurants etc. within very walkable distance. Hosts Troy and Sue were extremely hospitable and enjoyable. Very relaxed. Breakfast was incredible and included. We were only in town one night. Would love to have had a couple extra days to stay and enjoy the Hidden Gem a few more days and explore the area. Our stay was simply too short.
- Curtis (10/5): Very pleased, great value, wonderful hosts - Very good breakfast. Great location. Nothing
- Eddie (10/5): Excellent location, very clean and comfortable. Troy and Sue were very accommodating. - Full Breakfast was superb with gluten free options. We did not have any dislikes. Everything exceeded our expectations.

- Jeremy (10/5): Home away from home, Sue and Troy are amazing hosts and the breakfast was exquisite, will definitely go again!! - The beautiful red bud tree was in full bloom, parking in the driveway was nice vs street parking.
Our “green” suite had a double balcony with fairy lights giving an elegant ambiance.
Suite was extremely clean and comfortable with a “home” feeling.
Comfy bed. Nothing bad about it
- Ilaria (9/5): We had a wonderful stay with Sue and Troy! Their home is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with a lovely balco -
- Lynn (10/5): A very pleasant surprise as we had never done a B&B in Windsor. - Breakfast was fantastic and it was a wonderful change to be have a choice of menu items. Sometimes you want a light breakfast and this is the first B&B that gave us that choice. Well Done!!
The room had everything we needed and Troy was a life safer for getting me access to YouTube so I could continue my fitness routine. In warmer weather I can see the outside patio area as being a wonderful place to spend time in. N/A
- Boyd (8/5): Friendly hosts, home restored true to its origins, great breakfast and hospitality. - Lovely older home in a historic part of the city. Our suite had 3 rooms plus bath, great for relaxation. A roof deck is there as well - the weather didn’t suit during our visit but I’m sure that in summer …
- Clara (10/5): Very comfortable stay with amazing hosts - The breakfasts were very yummy and made with a lot of thought. The entire house was beautiful and the Green Suite, especially, was comfortable. Sue and Troy are amazing hosts. The neighborhood is cute and the house is within walking distance to many fun spots. The wifi was a little slow, but this was not a big deal!
- Cindel (10/5): Truly A Hidden Gem! - My husband and I enjoyed staying at A Hidden Gem Bed and Breakfast! The room is very spacious with a cozy bed; it’s more of a suite than a room, and there were 2 balconies. The bed and breakfast is centrally located in Windsor and a few blocks away from many restaurants and bars. Sue and Troy were fantastic hosts, they provided a nice breakfast and were very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Windsor or even Detroit.
- Melinda (10/5): Excellent stay and would come again when in Windsor or Detroit - This was a perfect location and in a great neighbourhood- walking distance to the river and casino, as well as restaurants. The hosts were very accommodating, welcoming, communicative and friendly. The breakfast was superb and we didn't need to eat again until dinner!! Bathroom sink in the loft just needs a bit of draino
- Kimberly (10/5): My new favourite spot - Everything. The room was spotless and so spacious. The location was perfect.
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Cathy (9/5): Superb - The owner couple were very friendly . The property is clean and very well decorated. The location is good, walking distance to the riverside and restaurant.we will come again if we heading to that area .

- Ian (9/5): Lovely place to stay - The location is great as it's between the main street and river. Owners are super friendly and personable. Breakfast was lovely,
- Paul (10/5): Great time at the B&B - Both the hosts Sue and Troy were very hospitable and provided a warm welcome to support the excellent facilities at the B&B. Location within Windsor was great with the most popular area for dining and shopping just 5 mins from the property. Both went above and beyond to help us with our forward travel plans. Nothing to add....
- keitheK1343CT (10/5): Truely a Hidden Gem - A Hidden Gem Bed and Breakfast does indeed live up to its name. Not only are the accommodations top of the line, the hospitality of Sue and Troy Brian is the best we have had; right down to the welcoming sign on the room door.
When in Windsor, or the surounding area, this is the place to stay.
- elizabetheH5548MB (10/5): A must stay! - We had a comfortable and welcoming stay in Canada. The is place is perfect for a quiet getaway. The coffee shops are in walking distance and so is the best restaurant in Windsor. The owners are so kind and helpful. They made our stay lovely and we would go back for sure. Breakfast was wonderful and I like the idea of being able to choose. Thanks for a great vacation!
- Katie (10/5): A Hidden Gem B&B is a beautiful, welcoming home away from home that I would recommend to everyone! - Breakfast was delicious and varied: lovely fruit bowl, delicious crustless quiche on day one and potato pancakes and local sausage day two, PLUS dietary accomodations! Sue gave me boiled water that I might make my own tea in my room. The conversation was also lively and friendly!
- Annie (10/5): Perfect location for exploring Windsor or crossing over to Detroit. - Beautiful home with a loft unit that was large and airy with both ceiling fans and air conditioning which was great on an extremely hot day. The jacuzzi tub which was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was wonderful and we had on-site parking. The location was very convenient as it was near both the riverside and the Walkerville area. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The bed was a bit small for the two of us but manageable.
- Lynn (10/5): Definitely a Hidden Gem - Location, room was very nice, and great window nook in the loft room. Very clean space, with lovely landscaping outside.
The hosts were amazing and will definitely be back.
- Michel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything!
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Willa (10/5): Sue & Troy as hosts, their beautiful home, and the wonderful location made for a perfect getaway! - Sue & Troy are simply remarkable hosts. Their home is so clean and comfortable and their breakfast is delicious. Their recommendations for the area are always great. The times and systems for checking in and out are easy to navigate and they are so easy to communicate with. N/A
- Villalba (10/5): I will go back any time. Loved it - Amazing breakfast! Super friendly hostess! Everything was super!
- Jesse (10/5): Amazing and would stay here again! - This was our second stay at A Hidden Gem and we stayed in "the Loft" room. The room is both spacious and cozy at the same time, and has several little "nooks and crannies" throughout the space to cozy up and relax as well as a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. We are so glad we had some extra time to enjoy sitting in the bay window to read, and take a soak in the tub. The hosts, Sue and Troy, are spectacularly pleasant, and can point you to good restaurants and shops, all within short walking distance from the B&B. The breakfast was amazing - vegetarian quiche, fruit smoothie and delicious carrot/cranberry muffins (among a list of other great options). The only challenge at A Hidden Gem is the staircase up to the room. For folks with accessibility needs, it may be difficult or not feasible at all to get to the room.
- Roberto (10/5): GREAT PLACE, REALLY AWESOME - Everything was awesome: room, location, communication, breakfast, hosts. I liked everything.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and safe neighborhood. Delicious homemade breakfast with a menu to choose from. Very attentive and welcoming hosts always ready to help (one of the hosts is a charming fluffy cat). The loft suite is large and cosy, perfectly clean and well-designed, has a tea/coffee maker and a small collection of books and games (even a coloring book and pencils). Easy and flexible check-in and check-out. My bus back was in the afternoon and I was invited to stay a bit longer beyond the usual check-out time to rest before the trip. This place is truly a hidden gem and I'm happy I found it. :)
- Bijun (10/5): Exceptional -
- 3furballs (10/5): Lovely stay! - Wonderful hosts and a great breakfast. The room is very spacious and comfy with a bar frudge and coffee majer. A little coffee spot too. Nice sitting area and a wonderful bakcony.
The location is perfect, a 20 min walk along the river to the cassino for the show.
- larryhJ5532VV (10/5): An absolute delight! - A Hidden Gem Bed and Breakfast is by far the best away from home experience my husband and I have ever had. From the greeting upon arrival, the most comfortable room where every little detail is thought of, to the wonderful delicious breakfasts and baked goods. This beautiful home is located in a great location close to shops and entertainment. Troy and Sue are the most gracious hosts and go out of their way to make you feel right at home. I would highly recommend staying here.
- Quest37970578939 (10/5): Look no further! - Great place to stay. Sue & Troy are like family. We stayed in the Green 💚 room and it was a fabulous setup. It has 2 outdoor balconies however it was a bit chilly out so we enjoyed the view from inside. Great area. We went to visit my mom. The breakfast is big & delicious. Its a must stay when in Windsor. Thanks guys.
Rob & Lisa
- Robfromtheshwa (10/5): Thanks for being great hosts & great place. - Sue & Troy made a delicious breakfast, with yummy coffee and grest conversation. The muffins were light & yummy.
- Russ (8/5): Would return - Loved the location, and the host's were super nice. Third story, had some head knocker ceilings. Not and easy stairway to carry luggage to third story
- Tan (10/5): Friendly hosts and a truly hidden gem with beautiful huge cozy room. - The owner Sue & Troy were very friendly with excellent hospitality. The breakfast supposed to start at 8am. But we told them that we need to leave about 6+am. They immediately offer to prepare breakfast for us by 6am. They even recommend us the places of interest for the day. Not at all.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (10/5): A true hidden gem - Perfect location and the accommodation was everything we needed. The hosts were extremely helpful and a real pleasure to chat with every morning during breakfast. 5 stars

- Greg (10/5): Exceptional - Sue and Troy are wonderful hosts. Breakfast was great. We had a great stay and highly recommend A Hidden Gem. And there’s an added bonus: Romeo the cat! We liked everything.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - we had a lovely time at this bed and breakfast - Everything was as described. Location was great. Breakfasts were amazing. Owners/hosts were very friendly and accommodating. All in all a great experience. Nothing. Everything was really good.
- Nelson (10/5): Sue and Troy are the best hosts one can ever ask for. Can't wait to come back already! - The breakfirst was awesome, Troy did a wonderful job preparing a very delicious meal of me! Thank you Troy! NA
- matd2015 (10/5): Above and Beyond - My partner and I stayed here on a layover between US and Canadian trains on the way to Toronto. We just needed a simple place close to the VIA rail station, but we got one of the best stays of our trip (and definitely the best breakfast!) The room was large, comfortable and charming and it's walking distance to a good variety of shops and restaurants. Sue and Troy were amazing hosts, above and beyond our expectations. Our only regret about a hidden gem is that we booked only one night!
- Anonymous (10/5): Genuinely could not give this place anything but a perfect rating. - The property was incredible. It was located in such a walkable area near the riverfront, tons of places to shop, and a plethora of diverse restaurants. It was clean and welcoming with all of the needed amenities and more. The owners were so kind and helpful with a lot of knowledge of the area to offer many suggestions. There’s not a single thing I could say I didn’t like about the property.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Relaxing - We had a wonderful stay.
- Monica (9/5): Perfect spot for what we needed! - Wonderful, comfortable and cozy - feels like home away from home. Sue and Trevor were amazing! Breakfast was outstanding!

- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The loft suite had everything you could want or wish for. The staff were wonderfull and very welcoming. The breakfast was amazing.
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional - The room was absolutely lovely, in a nice neighborhood within walking distance or short driving distance to everything. Our hosts were an absolute delight, and we even got to meet their kitty! We would highly recommend to all our family and friends, and anyone visiting Windsor!
- janeT7435SN (10/5): Minutes walk from the beach area. - Friendly staff and delicious food. A hidden Gem.
Delicious Caesar salad and onion soup and toasted chicken. A must see restaurant. A casual restaurant with great local musician. Reasonable prices. 4 star rating of quality and service.

- 111jeannetteb (10/5): Just like coming home! - It had been 2 years since I had the pleasure of staying at A Hidden Gem Bed & Breakfast in Windsor, Ontario and it truly was like coming home. All the same wonderful things that I loved from my first visit were still there...the warm, friendly welcome from my host, Sue, along with the comfortable and scrupulously clean bed, bathroom and sitting room that I stayed in. My visit was for 6 days and my breakfast for each day was varied, of excellent quality and needless to say, delicious. Caring and unpretentious conversations in the delightful breakfast setting was always a wonderful way to start my day. You know it’s been a good experience when you’re sad to say good-bye😥. A shout-out goes to Sue’s husband, Troy, who was sorely missed this time around and to Romeo, the resident cat, who was as sweet and entertaining as he was when I met him on my first visit. I’ll look forward to staying at ‘my home away from home’ whenever I get back to Windsor again!
- Lindy64 (10/5): Great B&B - Hidden Gem is a great place to stay. Took both their rooms; they are spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable. All amenities looked after. Location is close to casino, downtown and local restaurants. Breakfast was SPECTACULAR. Sue and Troy are brilliant hosts.
- jacqueakhan (10/5): Truly A Gem! - There is not enough that can be said about this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. The first time my wife and I stayed here it exceeded our expectations not only because of the accommodations, but even more-so because of the hospitality of our hosts Troy and Sue. Although we were curious about the other room, the loft is where we are happy staying each time we visit. Troy and Sue provide excellent information about local events or places to visit. It was necessary for us to be frugal on our anniversary this year but thanks to A Hidden Gem and Troy and Sue, we felt like it was a great anniversary. Our breakfast was excellent and thank you so much!!
- 656alissam (10/5): Wonderful stay! What a beautiful place and awesome hosts! - Would recommend anyone visiting the area to stay here. Sue and Troy are perfect and their place is so lovely. Stayed in both the green room and the loft. We'll be staying here again the next time we visit Windsor.
- pologreyhound (10/5): Exactly what it says on the nameplate. - We had the Green Suite and it was lovely. The house retains its period feel with its wooden floors, decor and furniture. It is very comfortable and with two balconies, which we used to get some morning sun and watch the world and the squirrels go by.
The lounge has a comfortable sofa and leads onto the bedroom.
Choice of set breakfasts, different each day requested from menu the day before. The home cooking is good and tasty. and very well presented. Our hostess presented her food very well and it was delicious.
A hearty welcome every day from our hostess.
- Bradfrommarkham (10/5): A Lovely B & B - We stayed in the Green room and it was a lovely, spacious suite of rooms decorated beautifully. Our breakfast with Sue was delicious and we would heartily recommend this venue to anyone travelling to Windsor
- carianmac (10/5): A real Gem! - We had the Green Suite, a lovely accommodation comprising a living/sitting room, a bedroom and a small kitchenette. It was all very comfortable and immaculately presented, everything one could need was there. There were even two balconies to sit out on, complete with comfy chairs and cushions.
Our hostess, Sue, was warmly welcoming and very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for an evening meal (lots of restaurants in easy walking distance) and cooked us a splendid breakfast at the early time we had requested.
We really couldn’t fault this high end B&B, it was everything we could have hoped for – and a bit more.
- debbiegJ4638OP (10/5): A True Gem - A true gem this B&B is. After a 1 night stay we are sure to return. Our room was superb, comfortable & homey with lots of thoughtful little extras to add to the ambiance. The hostess Sue was a pleasure, very informative & helpful. Our breakfast had great choices & was so filling we didn't need anything but a light snack later in the day. We would most definitely recommend this Hidden Gem.
- georgeandchristinev (10/5): Beautiful and lovely B&B! Wonderful hosts! - We feel so blessed to have been able to stay at this beautiful B&B in Windsor! Troy and Sue are exceptional hosts. We were treated with such warmth and hospitality when we arrived, and by the time we needed to leave for home, we felt we had made new friends! The loft room in which we stayed is charming and the bed comfortable. It was also very relaxing to soak in the jacuzzi tub. Troy and Sue serve up a bountiful breakfast and you will not walk away hungry. Sue even provided us some fresh, filtered water for our walks.
At their suggestions on what to see and do during our free time, we cruised the Detroit river and succeeded in accomplishing the Old Walkerville walking tour.. Both were splendid displays of the area history. Old Walkerville is a beautiful area to visit and the B&B is within walking distance. As well, the trail along the riverfront is gorgeous and relaxing. We walked it daily to downtown where our conference was being held. We also did the JP Wiser brewery tour and would have to agree with Troy that the JPWiser 15 year whiskey was the best!
Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! If we return to Windsor for another visit, A Hidden Gem B&B will be our choice! Thanks Troy and Sue!
- smallmammal_03 (10/5): The Best B&B In Windsor! - I've come here with my husband every year since 2017! I am writing this review while staying in the Loft Suite, and it is as wonderful as ever! Sue and Troy are caring, friendly proprietors who go above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible, every single time. We love everything about this place - it's clean, it's comfortable, it's stylish. You're provided with all of the little extras that make a stay truly memorable. The jacuzzi tub is also a huge bonus! The house itself is beautiful, and the breakfasts are always delicious, with your pick of a menu full of options, including vegetarian and vegan options!
The location of the house is quiet and scenic, with several great bars and restaurants a short distance away :)
All in all, we both think that this place really IS a hidden gem, and we'll continue to come and enjoy it!
