- Betty (10/5): Amazing Stay - As soon as we entered we felt at home and were impressed with the quirkiness. The B&B well appointed and our hosts made sure we were well catered for. The homemade preserves were a much appreciated gift.
- Amanda (9/5): Perfect for a short stay for a family. - Very clean. Had everything anyone could want or need.
Nice little added touches like milkshake facilities, lolly machine and umbrella for sitting outside.
Walkable distance to Main Street. Quite a lot of noisy traffic all night.
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): Really enjoyed my stay. - It had a great feeling - enjoyed just having plenty of space. So good to have breakfast provided, as so few motels offer it these days. Very very clean and clear instructions / guidance. Really nothing to be concerned about. Excellent place.
- Amy (9/5): - Really cute and comfy use of an old milkbar! Had everything that we needed and more. I loved the retro milkbar touches and foosball table. Plenty of appliance options and the milkshake supplied was fantastic. The single bed was very firm, compared to the super comfy double beds!
- Claudia (10/5): -
- Ceeb92 (10/5): Amazing quirky stay exceeding expectations - Amazing from start to finish Nothing
- Simon (10/5): -
- Murray (9/5): Unique stay. - Nice and quiet, spacious and unique. Beds very comfortable. Didn't get the opportunity to try the milkshakes, but nice twist. Breakfast a bit basic, hubby said his cornflakes were stale, but overall adequate for a speedy brekkie. I enjoyed the eggs.
- Shane (10/5): Value for Money Stay for Business or Family Stay - This is a very clean, comfortable and homely accommodation: new bathroom, excellent lounge space and kitchen facilities. Nil
- Jason (10/5): Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Stawell. - Generous breakfast options.
Who wouldn’t take up the offer of a complimentary milkshake.
- Jim (9/5): -
- Kathryn (10/5): Excellent stay once again. Great communication - Breakfast was great. Fresh eggs on toast. Love the facilities. Excellent shower
- elisabeth. (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay! The facilities were excellent, everything was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The breakfast options were great, with plenty of variety to start the day. We especially loved the common areas, which had lots of board games and plenty of space to relax and unwind. The location was also ideal, only about 20 minutes from Halls Gap, with easy access to nearby attractions and walking trails. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay!
- Annie (8/5): -
- ChihYing (10/5): Absolutely the best experience of all other places. - The hosts are very attentive and detailed. I absolutely love the antibacterial spray and my auntie likes the kitchen. Selections of shampoo, conditioner and dishwashing liquids are amazing. Towels are soft. Very clean environment. Your level is 100% beyond others. N/A
- Jody (9/5): Corner Store is a little 80’s slice of comfort. Love the milkshakes! - It was actually an old corner store, loved it!
Owners did there absolute best to give us privacy and comfort. The book telling of their renovation work let us know how much they were doing for their guests. Very welcoming indeed! Thank you Lyrae and Caron. Heating had difficulty heating the whole room however, there were several interactions electric blankets and cosy beddings to combat this, so it wasn’t an issue.
- Peter (10/5): Probably the best accommodation in Stawell. It is just wonderful. - The place was absolutely spotless, and we were left so many thoughtful food items, including everything needed for breakfast. The bathroom is superlative and the shower just perfect. The bed was very very comfortable and the heating worked wonderfully even though it was a cold day outside. The old milk bar has been done up a treat and this was the most interesting and different accommodation we have had. It is simply fantastic. We would very highly recommend to anyone, and particularly with a couple of children as there is much to occupy them there. Nothing - it was just perfect.
- colin (10/5): Very comfortable and unique - Quite a surprise but a pleasant one. Very comfortable and well equipped the hosts have done a great job at providing a really unique experience. We highly recommend. Nothing
- Jani (10/5): -
- Carolyn (9/5): We were comfortable and appreciated having food left for us as we were travelling. - It was great having food left for us and we had a good breakfast to start the day.
- A Vlahek (9/5): -
- Mepstead (3/5): this place should not be doing breakfast until they have a better understanding of food standards - Place was clean and quirky would be great for a family with kids.
Bathroom clean breakfast disgusting bread ok provided in zip lock bag. Butter in fridge disgusting with paper squashed inside and all texture changed like it had been frozen and defrosted or melted.
Open big jars of jam with crumbs in it the same for peanut butter.
No idea about contamination or hygiene standards for food.
Jars with cereal that had been opened.
Towels hanging so couldnt tell if clean
Location terrible on main road that cars were speeding and revving along all night.
No onsite parking had to park in the street.
Too many signs wih instructions
No dead lock on door for night security.
Blinds inadequate as dont cover window properly and street light shines straight in.
- Holin (10/5): - 整齊乾淨,廚房設備齊全,還有洗衣機,真是太好了!
- Robert (9/5): Worth going out of your way! -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norhamidah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (10/5): Great family space - It was a great space, the hosts went out of their way to be helpful and provided the food basics for us. They even turned on the heater for us in advance so it was beautiful and warm when we arrived. Nothing it was all great
- Shane (10/5): Great Family Stop - It is such a great idea, and the only place that is right off the highway. It is a quiet, easy-to-get-around area from here and it is always so clean and tidy. It's easy to just get the key number, which means you can arrive at any time of night. Nil
- Jenny (10/5): Good place to stay and will stay again. - Location good - easy to find, good directions from the staff. Good variety of breakfast supplied. Good sized rooms- esp if you had kids.Up to date devices and split system. nil
- Kate (7/5): Good -
- Jane (8/5): Great stopover- spacious, beautiful bathroom. Great lounges. - Quirky, cosy, great fuzzball! No stevia sweeteners for coffee
- Pradeep (10/5): Wonderful stay at The corner store B&B - We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Corner Store B&B, the entire place was neat and spotless, making us feel comfortable at home right away. What really stood out was the thoughtful preparation - all the breakfasts were beautifully arranged and ready even before our arrival, which made everything so easy and welcoming for us. Every details show how much care and attention Lyrae and Caron put into making their guest feel special. We couldn’t have asked for better experience and would highly recommend this place to everyone looking for a cozy, clean and well organised stay!
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicki (8/5): Fun place to stop - Quick stop on our way from Melbourne to Adelaide, the Corner store was a great stop off.
Three beds to choose from, lots of space, lovely new bathroom and older style kitchen but had everything we needed (and more - eg. Milkshakes!!!!).
Very clean and tidy and with great communication from the hosts.
Easy parking outside.
- .. (5/5): Overall not a great vibe - Beds were comfy. Neighbours had music going half the night. Luckily it was good music however not ideal if you are trying to get a young child off to sleep. Be aware the door in the kitchen leads to the owners house and can only be locked from the outside so essentially they can enter anytime. They sent someone over to collect $25 to pay for my 5yo to stay who was not on the original booking. This person knocked on the kitchen door and barged right in without waiting for an answer. Overall not a great vibe.
- Seona (8/5): Very good -
- Hemanth (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect
- Shashika (7/5): Good -
- Adams (10/5): Exceptional - Fun place to stay. Access & departure made easy. Good breakfast supplies plus eggs.. Enjoyed my first milkshake in years with icecream ,milk & flavouring provided. A lot of hard work has gone into setting this B & B up & it is still a work in progress. Spotlessly clean & would stay here again if in Stawell. Thank you for our pleasant stay.
- Randall (9/5): Excellent. - The owners have given close personal attention to creating this unique accommodation from what used to be the local 'corner store'. The impression is that they have thought carefully about every little detail to both retain the 'corner store' look and feel, and also to provide a comfortable place to stay. There was also a very generous amount of food supplies, including ingredients to make ourselves a milk-shake with the old store milk-shake machine. Congratulations to Lyrae and Caron who own and run the facility. One very minor point ...the bedlight was not strong enough to be able to read by.
- Linda (10/5): Loved it - Very spacious and fun vibe. Nice and clean with a breakfast. Great hospitality
- Shane (10/5): Off the Highway Stay - I always enjoy staying here. Lots of space and comfort, great kitchen and breakfast included. Quiet place to stay off the highway.
- Timit (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good - Loved icecream in the freezer and all the toppings so we could make our own milkshakes
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Caryn (8/5): Quirky and unusual but very comfortable. - The property is most unusual in that it is actually a corner store converted to accomodation.
Everything we needed was provided and it was a very quirky and unusual place to stay.
- Xinjun (10/5): Excellent choice for family with Kid - Exceptionally spacious room with numerous facilities for kids. The owner kindly provides breakfast, juice, and more. The sound of the bus is audible, and the curtain doesn't block the sunlight in the morning.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lyn (9/5): Superb -
- Tanya (9/5): Superb -
- Graeme (8/5): We only stayed one night. The bed was comfortable. We loved the quirky touches around the place and had a good night. - We loved the quirkiness. The array of shop signs and menus. The lolly machine and games. We enjoyed our make yourself milkshakes and the continental breakfast. The newspapers used as decoupage on the tables, such a great idea. We were a little unsure of parking on the street and would have preferred off street parking but all was well. The recliner couch was a little bit past its use-by but still reasonably comfy.
- Iain (10/5): Uniqueness and fun bringing back memories when every suburb had a milk bar on the corner. - Uniqueness and fun bringing back memories when every suburb had a milk bar on the corner. Kids loved the foosball table and free milkshakes. Nothing, it was all great.
- Tania (8/5): Very good -
- Calum (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (8/5): A Little Gem in Stawell - We loved the renovation that has occurred in the Corner Shop. Reading the history of the shop put lots of things into perspective.
It's a little quirky and has lots of room for up to 6 people.
Easy walking to various eateries. As it's on a corner, and there are currently road works, it can be noisy at night.
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jr (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the breakfast and milkshake. Very unique! - Quite an eclectic feel but done tastefully. Beautiful new bathroom.
- Rashdan (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable NA
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rinnarat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (9/5): Superb -
- William (10/5): Great place to stay! - Quirky property being a real corner store/milk bar from the 1980’s. Beautifully converted to accommodation while retaining character and charm.

Bathroom was modern and amazing
Everything was great. Big TV, heating and a choice of beds. Loved the milk shakes
- Helen (10/5): Warm. Clean. Comfy. Happy customers. - The Corner Store was a FABULOUS find. Extremely clean and we were very well catered for. Loads of little extra surprises !! Beds SO comfy. And warm ! Owners left the heater on for us. So much food provided. Will definitely stay here again ! No complaints at all.
- Darryl (10/5): Exceptional - A very spacious,comfortable and funky place.
The breakfast was definitely overcatered with many other treats. Nothing
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Great value and well appointed accomodation - Excellent. Great coffee machine. Loved the eggs option. Excellent new bathroom and shower facilities. Appliance instructions clear and comprehensive. A slightly later checkout would have been appreciated.
- Erin (9/5): Great place for a family. Lots of room and thoughtful hosts - This is a perfect location for a family. Host were responsive and lovely
- Christine (8/5): Very comfortable and spacious. Excellent base to explore The Grampians - Very comfortable and spacious. Excellent heating, including electric blankets. Good selection of games. Love the foosball table!! The bread provided was really nice. Like the corner shop vibe. Kitchen area was very cold. Breeze coming in from the window. External blind or roller shutter would help. Would have liked some bacon for breakfast.
- Judith (9/5): Superb - WE usually bring our own breakfast but we enjoyed having an egg and toast. We loved the milk shakes too
- Zoe (10/5): A great corner store vibe! - We used to walk to this original corner store with our Pop every time we visited Stawell from Adelaide. He was a regular. Recently we were back in town for his funeral, and the corner store B&B was the perfect location to stay in. It bought back beautiful childhood memories 🤍
- Mcguire (8/5): Fun comfy little spot to stop passing through Stawell. - Fun concept with everything you needed. Good breakfast eggs, toast, juice Hot water ran out after 3 showers so 2 of our family had cold showers.
- Jethin (10/5): A lovely stay close to Halls Gap. - The entire setup of the milk bar was a different experience. The kids enjoyed the games and the candy dispenser. The milk shake treat was also enjoyable.
- Misty (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (10/5): Absolute perfect, do it & book ,you won’t be sorry 😊 - Absolutely loved this !!
Spacious, clean , everything you could ever need is there , & the beds were so comfortable.
This is perfection for a family travelling, especially if you wanted to explore the Grampians .
Will definitely book again There is nothing I didn’t like
- Tanya (9/5): Enjoyed our stay and very comfortable - As described no hidden surprises Initial musty smell
- Kate (9/5): Superb - Quirky and interesting decor. Great kitchen facilities. Milkshake maker with ice cream and flavouring a yummy bonus. A clock in the living area would be helpful.
- Erick (9/5): awesome stay overall. - the retro vibe
cleaniness
relatively new
check-in info is easy to follow
everything works (even the candy machine)
breakfast included - there are sandwiches, eggs, milk, cereal, coffee pod machine.
owners' friendliness and kindness would be great to have a dishwasher, but totally understand it is not a need.
nothing else to add (im just filling in for wordcount... alright i just hit that)
- Jared (10/5): Loved my stay here - if I’m back In Stawell I’ll definitely stay there. - Extremely clean - set up was awesome.
Couldn’t fault it 👌👌👌👌👌
- John (10/5): A comfortable, roomy, quiet and memorable place to stay in Stawell. - The decor was interesting with the milk bar signage/memorabilia inside. There were plenty of brochures available highlighting the local attractions. Our bed was comfortable. What more could we want for a one night stop? The breakfast was simple but sufficient - and I did enjoy the milk shakes. There was nothing wrong with this place. If I was picky, I would say, that parking on the street was not ideal although we could park in dedicated angle parking bays off the street proper. We also had difficulty in understanding the split system air conditioning/heating remote control. We eventually figured it out but some instructions might have helped. But these are only minor niggles. Would definitely stay here again.
- Troy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Artem (10/5): Exceptional - Plenty of games to play, including UNO, 4-in-a-row, table football, colorful book for kids with pencils, etc.
Lots of food to choose for brekkie - eggs, mils, muesli, cornflakes, juice, butter with bread.
All three beds are in one room, so there is no privacy if you need it. Staying with several children of group of friends for a couple of night is perfect!
Number of towels match number of guests, beds are comfy (one is a bit creaky).
Mind the shower head is w/o the hose, so it's very hard to was toddlers. Some web under the bed which is considered normal is Australia and doesn't affect the overall cleanliness which was at a very good level
- Jacqui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (9/5): Better than expected great stopover spot - Really enjoyed our short stay here, room was very clean, nice large open space, large bathroom. There is 1 mattress which is a bit on the too soft side.
