I’m not tall, 176cm however I was aware of it moving around my side of the bed and had to bend down to avoid hitting it. Unfortunately I managed hit my head on it when getting up in the morning half asleep…..that was not good.

- Katharine (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at the Ship Inb- great location, beautiful building but room felt a bit cramped - Historic building in great location with a beautiful garden and guest area. Comfortable and clean room. Very much appreciated the owners’ card over my dietary requirements. The “no contact” approach felt a little strange. The only member of staff we saw was at the end of our stay after we’d checked out. The room and bathroom were on the small side. There was a place for everything but it all felt a bit of a squeeze.

You need to see it to appreciate the work that our hosts have done to make it comfortable. Fabulous garden. Our Wild Wave apartment was spacious and had a charming feel. The bedroom was large, separate kitchenette was small but adequate with all the essentials. Ensuite was also small but adequate with all the essentials. Separate laundry (washers and dryers) was handy albeit in the separate building after a week on the road. If you have restricted mobility choose a ground floor room as the stairs are steep.

Dinner at Hersheys was good and dinner at the Stanley Hotel was excellent. Food and sevice were above and beyond expectation. It has nothing to do with the hotel but the gentleman at the Whiskey Tasting venue completely ignored us, so we left. We probably would have done the tasting had he been more welcoming. Every other venue in Stanley was amazing.

- Keridan (10/5): Exceptional - The Ship Inn is a stunning property that has been renovated and decorated with love and attention to detail. We stayed in a ground floor apartment with a courtyard that provided some space to relax outside. The breakfast provided was very well thought out and ample and the kitchen had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We would have loved to stay longer !

No light on the stairwell and struggled to find the lock. Did not like the teas provided. The breakfast was very acceptable. Disliked the modern dark linen shabby chic bedding especially the dark coloured pillow cases.

The gardens are beautiful and the guest lounge where you can relax and enjoy the water feature is wonderful. Loved the use of the bikes. We had a ball riding along the sands of Tatlows Beach at low tide. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and the included breakfast is exceptional! Nothing.

The bikes were terrific and in good condition. Bread was superb. Breakfast spot on . Garden walk was pleasant and the views serene. Everything we might have needed was there… even a brolly! - Pam (9/5): Stunning! - I loved the amenities in the room, facilities, gardens, and location. All very well thought out and comfortable. Easy walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and sites. Must have a walk around the garden at the back of the property. The size of the room was adequate, however a little small. Although stairs were stated when booking, carrying luggage up them is a little dangerous.

- Philip (10/5): Spectacular heritage property with wonderful facilities...all in the centre of town. - The 'Billiard Room' guest dining/reading/relaxing area (nb. not for playing billiards) and adjoining garden was spectacular and so peaceful. Our ensuite bedroom had everything we could want, and the breakfast provisions were beautiful and freshly made. It was the perfect 'special treat' we were looking for. The Ship Inn is a spectacular heritage building. As a result, the stairs to a couple of the upstairs rooms are quite narrow and steep. Those who have difficulties with stairs need to be aware if they're booking one of these rooms.

Though the lounge area was beautifully fitted and was what attracted us online to book a stay, we found we did not use it as a result of its access. This was a real shame.

Especially appreciated the bread. Would have liked some peanut butter. Location was great for us, easy access to restaurants and attractions. Ambience of the place is great. Ground floor accommodation would have suited us better, but we managed well with some great help from staff.

The video they send before you check in tells you all the facilities and how to access them, including where to park. It is on the Main Street of Stanley so we were able to walk to go to dinner and enjoyed a great view.

We loved the garden area and the common lounge area too. The breakfast provided was delicious. The location was also top notch - couldn't have asked for better! There was nothing we didn't like, however it would have been cool to make the lounge area a more obvious - we stumbled upon it when we were exploring but could easily have missed it and assumed it was a part of the property we didn't have access to. And it's so beautiful it would be well worth bigging it up a bit amongst the guests!

The gardens, including our own little courtyard, were a delight. The Ship Inn isn't really an Inn. It had no bar or restaurant but there was a lounge where you could take your own drinks.
