- Kimberly (10/5): Very comfortable room, beautiful home, great location! Welcoming and warm! - Beautiful home with great history! Wonderful location!
- Kimberly (10/5): Wonderful hosts, beautiful home, amazing location! - Beautiful house, great location, warm & welcoming! The room was perfect and very comfortable! Highly recommend!
- miron (8/5): TOP LOCATION GOOD PLACE TO STAY IN ZURICH - TOP LOCATION
- Jeffrey (10/5): -
- Mitsuo (9/5): A beautiful and peaceful oasis in the middle of Zurich. - We love the fact that we stayed in a house that was built about 600 years ago. The interior has been beautifully renovated and the house has all the modern comforts: warm, nice shower, etc. We had access to the garden behind the house and enjoyed the quiet and scenery. The house is situated in the old section of the city so one cannot access it by car.
You have to walk up a slope, so if you have a big suitcase, you will have a hard time.
We didn't have this problem because we travel light; with one backpack.
So, travel light!
- Jackson (10/5): Historic, beautiful, fun and relaxing stay! - We loved everything about our stay! Great location, great breakfast and amazing host!

- Teri (10/5): Perfect - Firstly the area, the house was incredible. Best bathroom we have experienced through Europe. The breakfast was lovely and Trudi is very friendly and welcoming. If I had to come up with something, it would be lack of iron facility. I really needed to wash/iron by this stage. But not a major problem.
- Evan (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- Ravnit (10/5): A little effort to get to, but absolutely worth it! - We loved the history of the building! Trudi is a wonderful host.
- Jenny (10/5): - The location was close to everything. The owner Trudi was wonderful. It was a good experience and I would highly recommend this place.
- Michaela (9/5): Charming house, great location - Very charming property in a great location near the old town and good walking distance to everything. The host was very kind and has created a welcoming space. We loved the garden with a table for eating outside. Just a short walk down to the lake to catch a ferry or go for a run by the water.
- Christoff (10/5): -
- Clare (10/5): - Trudi and Hans were amazing hosts, their house is beautiful and we feel so lucky to be able to stay there. Breakfast was so lovely and shared with our hosts and other guests, we felt very welcomed throughout our stay. The house is in the old town and has some amazing history. It's the best place we have stayed on our holiday. Central to Zurich and everything within walking distance, or easy access to trams, railway station and boats. Thank you from Clare and Roger There is nothing we didnt like
- Ruth (9/5): Would I stay there again? Absolutely. It's close to anywhere and everywhere you want to go! - Fabulous breakfast - great company and conversation. We loved the building's history and its beautiful garden. Our circumstance was different than most. We were preparing for a 2-week motorcycle ride through the Alps, so after a 10-hour flight, we're not used to walking (with luggage) for 20 minutes from the train station to reach our room. Don't get me wrong, everyone does it, we just had a heavy duffle bag (no wheels) 2 backpacks and 2 leather jacks - Uber is sort of frowned upon, so that walk was a bit more than we anticipated. Again, beautiful place, lovely people, but also after walking around the city all day we're sort of used to air conditioning (which we learned later) was not a common thing wherever we stayed.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Trudi's home was.charming, centrally located in the old town with easy access to all the main attractions. Comfy bed, nice decor, lots of history to the building and one of the best breakfasts we've had anywhere.. Trudi herself was unobtrusive yet knowledgeable and nice to chat to over breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Nothing negative to report.
- Valarie (9/5): Historic house that we found very charming. The host was very accommodating. - Trudi the host was great. She provided everything we needed plus offered helpful tips about places to see and go. Anyone with mobility issues will need to know that you have to climb a steep hill with a lot of steps to get to the house. No AC but that is common for Switzerland.
- Gary (10/5): Great experience- hope to stay here again! - Fabulous aesthetic and great location. Trudi’s artistic nature permeates the home… with her attention to small details and her exquisite personal sculptures and paintings. —-
- Walaa (10/5): great location for the center of Zurich everthing was a walking distance , much recommended - Everything was cozy and welcoming the host adorable nothing
- Adrian (6/5): Very disappointing and substandard for the high price - Being a restored historic building and the location was great right in the old town There are a lot of “do not” rules which made this a stressful place to stay. It was also our most expensive place in Switzerland, but with the least provided. The dustbin had not been emptied and the bed was not even made even though we only arrived after 4pm. The mattress was substandard especially in a place charging more than top end hotels. You have a kitchenette in the room but you are forbidden to eat in the room.
- J. (10/5): I would love to return. - The location was perfect for us. The breakfast offered good variety, including a delicious salad as well as traditional cheeses and hearty breads. Heated bathroom floor, cozy on our rainy days. Built in 1430, it has been wonderfully renovated. Trudy speaks with a slight Pennsylvania accent, in other words, English can be the language of communication. We were near tram lines, restaurants and coffee shops. Use Trudi’s instructions; Google assumes pedestrians want to walk past interesting shops rather than getting there directly with luggage.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): It was very pleasant and Trudi made you very welcome. - We liked the historical value of the building and its location to the town centre. The cost
- John (9/5): V happy memories of a beautiful holiday and it helped greatly that the sun shone all day !! - Loved the old house atmosphere and the hostess Trudi was excellent…. V informative re history of the house and its surroundings Hard to find and steep hill esp when dragging the luggage !
- Cinzia (8/5): Original - The atmosphere was very romantic and cosy, back to the ancient times . It was a lovely experience. Just the door was very hard to open, almost impossible.
- Mary (10/5): Beautiful home in Old Zurich - Beautiful modern home in a 1406 house. When do you get an opportunity to stay in a place like that? The neighborhood was amazing. Very walkable. Breakfast was delicious and Trudi is a great host. We will definitely stay here again. Great place to introduce yourself to Zurich! N/a. I wish we could have stayed longer!
- Quaid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay was amazing and wish we could have stayed there longer. Trudi was very welcoming and provided a gorgeous breakfast. The property is an experience and it was so fun to stay in such a historic home. We absolutely loved our time here. Nothing- it was fantastic
- Evelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yanqing (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wai (8/5): Very good -
- Nathan (8/5): Very good - Older house with a unique history. Friendly owner. Difficult to get too. On a steep incline.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Good communication with host, room and amenities all very nice and enjoyable for our stay. Location was perfect and the house was beautiful. Currently construction ongoing right outside the home, so quite loud in the morning. Room was also quite hot (visited in July) although the fan provided helped a lot.
- Riin (9/5): A touch of something unusual - If you are looking for a modern place, this place is not for you. If you appreciate the old house with a character, this is it. The location is excellent, close to everything. The moment you walk in you feel welcome by your host and it feels like you are staying with friends. There are houserules but nothing you can’t cope with. Breakfast could be earlier during weekdays, one morning it was 9am, the other 9.40 but maybe we should have been clearer by ourselves and expressed our wishes the night before. Breakfast itself is excellent, there is no shortage of anything and you will receive a wonderful cup of coffee.
- John (9/5): An amazing stay in a brilliant old house in the centre of Zurich Old Town - The B&B is in a 15th century home, which resulted in some very interesting rooms and steps. Our room, in our hosts house, was very comfortable and was at ground floor level. No stairs to lug bags up, but there will always be some noise from the street outside. The breakfast was excellent, made even better by Trudi joining us each morning which made for some interesting conversations. Her knowledge of the old town district came through, and we liked the welcoming "come outside and I will point out some sights" greeting. It did seem strange to have a kitchen with a stovetop, but when we asked about a supermarket to perhaps cook a meal one night, we were told it wasn't really setup for cooking meals. No big deal, there are very many restaurants in the old town.
- Selina (10/5): Taylor Swift concert stay. - Stunning property, wonderful host, excellent location. Would love to visit again.
Thank you so much for making our trip so special. Roadworks outside property, but hey, small price to pay for this wonderful few days in beautiful Zurich.
- Robert (8/5): We were so happy to have an interesting place to stay. - Everything about the breakfast was very good. The location was very convenient as well, The construction right outside the window starting at 7 a.m. every morning. Hopefully the work on the lane will be a soon finished.
- Mario (7/5): Good -
- Donna (10/5): Loved it! It was delightful! - My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay. The place was very beautiful and charming. We most loved the beautiful garden and the delicious and super healthy breakfast. Trudi was really interesting and knowledgeable about so many things and I wish we had had more time to spend with her. Construction outside our window was really distracting and loud, but that was beyond the host's ability to control, so there was nothing we did not like about the place that was within her control.
- Lisa (10/5): Excellent location, comfortable room and bed, many thoughtful details such as sparkling water, chocolates, fresh flowers -
- Helen (10/5): Inner city haven - Lovely place to stay with very hospitable hosts. Located in the heart of Zürich a short distance from major tourist attractions. Well equipped and a great breakfast. Great restaurant suggestions too!
- Edward (9/5): Nice place to stay in Zurich. - The building is charming and centrally located in the old town of Zurich. No coffee or tea available prior to breakfast.
- Wolfgang (10/5): Wonderful place in perfect location - Wonderful place in perfect location. The house itself is exceptional, medieval building with all modern conveniences. Trudi is a great host and the breakfast “gatherings” were a great pleasure. Highly recommended.
- Stephen (10/5): Beautiful place. Felt comfortable from the start. Hard to think we could have done better. - didn't have breakfast per our request. Home was amazing. We weren't there long enough to take advantage of all the amenities but they were there in spades. Lovely place and location Maybe the climb up the hill the first day with bags but that is no fault of the property. That is why it has the amazing views and privacy.
- Bogdan (9/5): If you like the historical surroundings and real estate with character you will definitely enjoy this experience as we d - Ideal for city visits. Super centrally located.
- Teresa (9/5): I would love to visit again. - The breakfast and breakfast room are exceptional.
Trudi is an exceptional person; community minded and involved in regional concerns, so knowledge, interesting, and concerned about things that really matter.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The room was clean, a good size and very comfortable. The host was very friendly. Breakfast was wonderful.
- George (10/5): Great Stay! - Trudi was a great host. Highly recommend! She offers a great buffet style breakfast and the home, built in the 15th century has been totally renovated and is very comfortable and spacious. It is also in a great location in Zurich's Old Town. Great experience overall and would definitely like to go back!
- Kay (7/5): Great location - The location was great No access to boiling water to fill my thermos flask
- Walter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ejaz (7/5): Good -
- April (5/5): Ok for a short stay of 4 days or less. - Location in Old Town Bed was hard, small and uncomfortable. Room was dark; poor lighting. Noise from street and passerby. No swimming pool as listed.
- Donna (10/5): Old world charm! - How authentic and beautiful the home was and how Trudy went out of her way to ensure we made it there with ease. nothing it was all excellent. we were forewarned about rhe construction!
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional -
- Audrey (10/5): Excellent - would stay again - Excellent location, central to everything, transportation, Lake Zurich, shopping and restaurants. The Breakfast offering was exceptional with fresh juices, cereals, baked goods, honey, jams, salads, as well as meats and cheeses to go along with the selection of breads. Choice of french press coffee and/or selection of teas N/A
- Dale (9/5): Two Good Nights in Zurich - Was unique to stay in a building built in 1430.
Large hill to get to the location..
Then again Zurich is up and down everywhere..
Trudi was very interesting to talk to and very helpful helping you find where you are going...she made you comfortable at breakfast sitting down and chatting.
Kitchenette in room so you could cook yourself if you wanted to.
Definitely a place we would return to Don't book breakfast if you plan on an early start.
Not available until 8.30.
- Kathy (9/5): Superb - Great location, close to everything.
The breakfast was wonderful.
Trudi is a great host. She try her best to help us.
- Fernando (10/5): Amazing location in the heart of the city. - This was such a convenient location in the heart of Zurich’s old town. It was really conveniently places and surrounded by the cities history at your doorstep. Trudy was really welcoming and we loved sipping grappa in her courtyard at sunset. Just at the front of her home is one of the cities fountains, we enjoyed a sunset dip and was one of our best experiences in Switzerland. As I’ve been asked, the bed was a tad on the small side and a little firm for my personal preference.
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - Most of all the atmosphere!
- Ankeet (8/5): Heritage house of Year 1430.. - Trudy has maintained the place well despite house being constructed in 1430. She walked us through complete house though we were allotted room at ground floor. This was a great gesture. She also explained about nearby areas to visit and explained a bit about neighborhood. I personally loved door locks which were old design but effective and still in use today. Security to bedroom on ground floor had me in double thoughts since it has 2 doors and only one (old one by keeping key with us while going to bed) could be locked by us. Fire door could still be opened from outside if someone is in the hallway and other guests would enter through the same hallway. Other would be improvement areas like one extra fan, hangers for clothes and a small table for keeping luggage.
- Elaine (10/5): It was amazing! Very kind and accommodating. Incredibly clean and nice place. -
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional - The house is very nice and has an small beautiful garden for guests. The house is very close to the city center and it's located in a very quiet street. The bed was very comfortable. The host is an educated and well travelled person and she enriches the whole experience in Zurich.
- Stéphanie (8/5): Very good -
- Holly (9/5): Superb -
- Sergio (10/5): Great stay, historic house, excellent host. - Excellent location near the Grössmunster on the Niederdorf side of the river. Historic house dating back to the 15th century. Trudi is an excellent host She serves a great breakfast, and is an interesting person and conversationalist.
- Raphael (10/5): memorable - unbelievable location
such a great host
beautiful building nothing
- Kelly (10/5): Propeety in a great location! staying in a original building built in the 1400s made it so special! Trudi & Osa we - location was great! Property was quaint! Loved all the antiques! NA
- Mari (9/5): Superb - The location is very convenient and the room was neat and exactly what we needed. I would highly recommend!
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): No hiccups. just a pleasant relaxed visit to Switzerland - location is perfect for visiting Zurich. Easy train access to airport. Nothing.
- Philippe (10/5): lovely old authentic place located in the nicest part of Zurich -
- Rumiana (1/5): Bad - nothing - everything written about this accomodation in booking.com is a lie this is not a delux king suit it is one small room at the roof of an old house where there is room only for the big bed and nothing else even no room to open your suitcase and we had 2, the access to the room is by a dangerous stairs like the stairs used by builders, the room was no very dark no external light and not enough lamps and also not very clean or at least it looked like this.
also you will be asked to take off your shoes and take some old used slippers and walk with them through the yard and something the host called garden and unsafe stairs
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Stan (8/5): Very good -
- Paydon (9/5): Would highly recommend. - Unique, renovated, comfortable & historic accommodation in beautiful old town of Zurich. Host was extremely friendly and helpful. Warm, quiet, very comfortable and great location. The option of an earlier breakfast when necessary. Shelves for suitcases would be nice and maybe a couch in room. Also some hooks for coats would have been good. No milk in fridge for tea/coffee.
- Sergio (9/5): Maybe not just for you, or yes? - The cozy atmosphere and the lovely owner. The details. Candles in the rooms. It's very dangerous!
Little light in the room. There were 3 very dim lamps.
Very small double bed for 2 skinny people.
Too many small and expensive things in the room easy to break for those who are not used to moving in it since everything is new.
The electrical socket in the bathroom is behind a mirror and is not practical.
Limited hours at breakfast (understandable because there are no employees to prepare it). If you take a flight early, loses it
The handwash drain is not working properly.
The bathroom window curtain is short and the neighbors can see you.
- Stan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gurpreet (8/5): Great for the old town - Excellent location
Warm host Cramped room
No facilities for tea or coffee
- Mariana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Outstanding host and a charming, character-filled historic location in Old town Zurich. Our only regret for this trip w - Trudi was an exceptional host who gave us a tour of this historic home, and offered wellness services and therapy as well! It’s located right in Old Town Zurich with so many great destinations nearby. The amenities and character of this location are incredible, especially compared to other bookings we experienced on our trip to Switzerland. Getting to the location may be challenging if you have any accessibility issues or walking challenges as taxis can’t get directly to the location and there’s a fairly significant incline up cobble stone roads from the main tram stops
- Krisztina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harold (10/5): Cozy Bed & Breakfast with cheerful informative hosts. - Cozy B&B near the lake, city center and shopping. Breakfast was excellent and communication with host was prompt, easy and helpful. The stairs up the street
- Lee (3/5): Never felt so unwelcome - This property is beautiful. The house is one of the oldest in Zurich. It’s super well taken care of. All the doors have gorgeous keys and iron handles. It’s pretty dreamy. I’ve worked in service and hospitality so I’m pretty easy to please.
We were so excited to stay here. After a four hour train ride we decided to stretch our legs and walk to the property from the train station. The host found this extremely inconvenient and chastised us for showing up an hour after getting off the train, by telephone on our way there and when we arrived in person. We were tourists in Zurich for the first time. A local might have been able to get there in a half hour but we needed to figure things out in a country and city we’d never been to in a language we didn’t speak. She did ask via email when we would arrive and I told her when we’d get into Zurich and said we’d head straight there, which is what we did, by walking.
I’d read other reviews before booking that cited unreasonable rules and didn’t think the rules were a huge deal. The b&b is also the hosts home, so rules are appropriate. Rudeness is not. I asked where I could get water for the room and she said not to buy bottled water and to go to one of the 1200 fountains in the city. It’s a nice idea, but sometimes you just want to have a glass of water before bed.
The host asked about breakfast, which was included in the cost of the room. We were leaving on the early side, around 8 or 9 am. She said she’d already made arrangements with the other guests to serve breakfast around 9:30 and it was market day. She offered to put something small out for us but we declined. We were so put off by how she greeted us we couldn’t wait to get out of there. She was more pleasant in the morning. It’s too bad. We were excited about our one night stop over in Zurich. Our experience here almost ruined it. I’ve never felt so unwelcome in my travels anywhere.
- Williams (9/5): A perfect base from which to explore the old city. - Excellent location. Easy access to the old town. The place itself is tricky to reach by car, and Trudi provided some precise directions that would have been fine if our taxi driver had followed them! Switzerland was hit by a heat wave during this period, and the country is simply not prepared for this sort of weather. Trudi did her best to keep our room cool with a fan but the lack of air conditioning was an issue. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem - but if you're travelling in the summer, you may want to check the weather reports and be prepared.
