Guest Reviews
- Philip (10/5): An outstanding stay in location and comfort - Breakfast ideal.
All just perfect for us. Nothing
- Wally (8/5): -
- Carol (10/5): A charming stay in an authentic historic home, with all the modern conveniences. Generous extra touches and a cosy fire, - The welcoming host, wine and chocolates, comfy bed, good breakfast provisions… and the charming historic cottage! Nothing
- John (10/5): Perfect in many ways - This was a great location to stay in the main street of Angaston. Easy walking for anything in town. Our hosts Jim and Jeanette have everything sorted. We had a great supply of food for breakfast, a lovely bottle of sparkling on arrival. There was some port that Jim invited us to sample (all consumed) and a bonus bottle of red. Enjoyed a couple of chats with Jim and also met with Jeanette when she came to make sure everything was okay. A great place to stay. Enjoyed the wood fire as well.
- the venning fam (9/5): We had a lovely, relaxing weekend away, everything just a short walk to great coffee, food, and wine - The cottage had a beautiful old, homely feel, with a warmth and character that made it really special and relaxing to stay in. The breakfast and fruit was also a lovely touch. While there was a lot of furniture which made it feel slightly cluttered, it also contributed to the cottage’s unique charm and character.
- Kathleen (10/5): A delightful cottage in the heart of the Barossa. We couldn’t have been happier with the care Jim and Janette have taken - Charming well kept cottage centrally located
Outstanding hospitality
- susanne (9/5): Lovely stay in the Barossa - Great location in the village close to everything
The most lovely hosts who certainly couldn’t do enough for you
House has everything you need Can’t think of anything
- Jane (10/5): -
- Deb Stump (10/5): Perfection - Couldn't fault it, it was perfect! The spa was one of the best we've been in! And the hosts were so friendly and helpful. Nothing! They thought of everything.
- Liz (10/5): Cant wait to visit again. - A period home which had some amazing old furniture. We loved the record player and many of the LPs we used to have in our youth! Kitchen was modern and well equipped with a great selection of breakfast goodies and some much appreciated extras. The spa bath was fab. Warm and cosy with heating, log fire and electric blanket. Lovely garden out back which would be a great spot for a glass of wine on warmer days. Very comfy bed with lovely linen and towels.
Jim and Jeanette were great hosts, but not intrusive, giving advise on places to eat in Angaston which were spot on. Nothing
- Caroline (8/5): -
- Ellenor (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Excellent stay in a very comfortable, well provisioned house. - Communication with host was excellent. He also met us at the property and showed us through.
Large house that was very comfortable. Excellent kitchen with everything you could possibly need as well as provisions eg eggs, bacon, tomato, bread, bottle of wine, chocolates. Wood burning stove with plenty of timber. Close to everything in town as well as off street parking. Excellent shower . At a stretch looking for something to comment on, the ceiling lighting in the bedrooms.
- Lyndsay (10/5): Exceptional - Loved everything about the cottage. Very quaint and super comfortable. Jim and Jeanette were such lovely hosts. Thank you for having us there ☺️
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful hidden gem & excellent base to explore the Barossa - Beautiful little cottage with super friendly hosts. The location is superb and the property has everything you could possible want on your stay exploring the Barossa. Very spacious with lots of rooms, a fireplace and a spa in the bathroom. Jim & Jeanette provided breakfast options and looked after us really well. Can’t wait to come back. Nothing
- Ian (9/5): Superb cottage, lovely and friendly hosts who was exited to please - Excellent location within the Barossa Valley, caring hosts, provided great breakfast using local ingredients. Lovely old sandstone cottage that was full of antique furniture. The main bedroom was at the front of the cottage and at times the traffic could be heard
- Fran (9/5): We had everything we needed to make our stay memorable - Location was great, lovely cottage, good food supplies, relaxing spa. Very nice hosts.
- Simon (10/5): This is a great choice for the Barossa visit - Absolutely perfect, clean tidy cozy and well provisioned It’s on the road so some may feel it’s noisy, we were fine with it
- Lambe (8/5): Very good -
- Suellen (8/5): Overall this is a lovely spot to make as a base to the Barossa or to simply sit back and relax - The produce provided for breakfast was excellent quality and certainly sufficient for the 2 of us
Spa Bath was lovely although slow to fill
Beautiful quiet courtyard out the back
Angaston is a lovely country town and the cottage is in the main street so easy to navigate
Jim and Jeanette (hosts) are lovely people Front screen door didn't latch so was hard to leave front doors open to air the old cottage
Main road and Road noise early woke us as we are not used to it
- David (10/5): A highlight of our visit to South Australia - Spacious, quiet well situated.
Fabulous hosts, made us very welcome
- Alyssa (10/5): Highly recommend - Super welcoming hosts and amazing breakfast included. Very comfortable self contained cottage.

- Katrina (10/5): Just bring yourself - This charming cottage is ideally located in the main street. It provides everything you need for an enjoyable trip. There's really no need to do anything more than bring yourselves. The hosts are very friendly and very accommodating.
- Denise (10/5): It complemented a great busy weekend and made things so easy and relaxing ! - Breakfast provisions were lovely. Plenty of food and good variety. All was very nice and cosy. Spa was and excellent surprise and was so good.
- Tricia (10/5): Walking distance to everything. Quiet, character filled cottage. - Lovely old property, walking distance to the restaurants in Angaston. Quiet, comfortable and cozy.
- Bassett (8/5): Generous Barossa hospitality in a charming heritage cottage. - The location in the centre of one of the most charming historical towns of the Barossa and close to many eating options was perfect. The breakfast ingredients were really welcome, as was the bottle of excellent champagne provided on arrival. The kitchen was well supplied with utensils and there were generous little extras such as first aid basics, blockout, lots of towels etc. The hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. They also went to a lot of trouble to provide an extra bed and let us charge our car. There were no ensuite bathrooms, but it is a very old stone cottage and putting these in can be very destructive to the heritage fabric, so we didn't mind. The bathroom and kitchen were both quite newly fitted out.
- Stephen (10/5): Wonderful place for a couple to enjoy the Barossa Valley - Great place to stay Plenty of provisions for breakfast Easy walk to the town centre and great restaurants Wonderful hosts who were so very helpful Nothing
- Christopher (9/5): Friendly and helpful hosts, excellent value for money. - Quiet sanctuary where we were literally able to step out into the Main Street with easy access to cafes, restaurants, parks etc. We had no problems at all during our stay

- Christine (10/5): We fully intend to return to the warm, easy comfort of Bluebird cottage. We loved our time there. - Bluebird cottage far exceeds it’s name in that it is a very well appointed house that immediately makes you feel at home in all the best ways. The hosts, Jim and Jeanette, are very welcoming. They provided us with a full breakfast pantry, a detailed compendium of places to eat/see and do. The beds were super comfy and the decor was very interesting for its historic and romantic style. There was nothing.
- Matt (9/5): Loved it so much. - The breakfast provisions were excellent. Beds were so comfortable. Fireplace was so cosy and warm. Loved the spa. The owners are such lovely people and were very thoughtful and kind. More than happy with everything. Thankyou so much for a lovely break. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
- Annette (9/5): Superb B & B, good value for money and walking distance to restaurants, cafes, pub and shops. - A very comfortable, well appointed dwelling with modern kitchen and bathroom and a very luxurious spa bath. The open fireplace is gorgeous. My mattress and pillows were super comfortable, and bath towels soft and fluffy. All the comforts of home were all there!
Hosts Jim and Jeanette were very welcoming, with Jim providing tips and directions for places of interest around his beloved Barossa.
The beautiful courtyard at back has plenty of space for entertaining; a nice big outdoor setting and bbq, manicured garden with a 100+ year old grape vine to provide ambience and shade in summer.
I very much appreciated the complementary bottle of delicious Riesling, chocolates, and food items for a hearty breakfast. That I couldn't stay longer!
- Bernie (9/5): Beautiful cottage in the heart of Angaston. Our hosts thought of everything for a very comfortable stay. - Excellent little cottage. Hospitality and provisions were just amazing. It was so comfortable and warm for June in the Barossa.
- Sharon (9/5): Charming Cottage with all the comforts of home. - Yummy spread of food and wine waiting for us. Jim and Jeanette made sure we had enough food for our stay.
Lovely wood fireplace with well stocked fuel.
Charming cottage interiors with modern amenities - spa bath, dish washer, central heating and washing machine/dryer.
Walking distance to main street and shopping/tourist attractions in town.
Clean, warm bedding and plenty of rooms to relax in.
A very comfortable and safe place to stay.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fran (9/5): Superb -
- Rowena (7/5): Nice accommodation and hosts. - A very good location to all eateries and just a nice place for a walk. Location of accommodation there was to much noisy traffic all night unsure why maybe because it's a main road a lot of trucks and vehicles very hard to get much sleep.
That was a big negative we wanted to have a good night's sleep.

It was wonderful to meet Jim who went out of his way to ensure our stay was perfect and most generously shared his knowledge of the area and recommendations. They provided generous provisions for breakfast, more than we needed. Hosts were friendly and helpful and gave us a bag of lemons to go home with. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a Barossa stay. Spa bath was massive and was lovely but does take a while to fill, go enjoy a glass of wine while you wait! Thanks to our hosts, great home.
- Greg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -

- Christine (10/5): Be Transported to another Era - We had a wonderful 2 night stay in this 110 year old Heritage Cottage in the centre of the village. It is essy walking distance to many Eateries and a local pub. Jim and Jeanette made us feel very welcome and supplied us with eggs, bacon, mushrooms, bread etc for breakfast plus a lovely bottle of bubbly. The hosts also provide a BBQ and bikes and nothing was too much trouble so highly recommend and look forward to our next visit. Plus the bed was very comfortable All was excellent

- Noel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (10/5): Convenient and private period cottage - We loved the location, with cafes and shops only a minute away. The owners were so helpful and friendly and provided plenty of sightseeing and eating recommendations, plus left us very generous supplies of provisions. The cottage was very spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. We'd definitely stay again. The fact that it was very conveniently situated on the main road did mean some traffic noise in the front bedroom, but it quietened down by evening so wasn't an issue.
- Richard (8/5): Very good - Cottage is like staying in a museum with modern bits, like bathroom and kitchen. All the space a a bit wasted on only 2 of us. Good location in main street of Angaston, info provided by Jim was handy for finding eateries and wineries. We happened to experience cold weather on our stay, so needed to light the slow combustion fire each arvo to keep the cottage warm, at least the loungeroom. Fire starters, kindling and wood provided which was nice. Only a problem if you didn't have experience with wood fires, or couldn't avoid Barossa cold snaps.
- Sherrie (10/5): A wonderful place to stay with wonderful hosts - An absolutely charming old cottage. Everything you needed was there and a great location.
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (10/5): All the small things make a special space - Beautifully appointed cottage with no little detail unthought of. Jim and Jeanette were so kind as to have a selection of fruit/veg/milk/bread/eggs/bacon AND a chilled bottle of bubbles waiting on arrival. There were even fresh flowers put out. Incredible thoughtfulness which is often overlooked these days, we appreciated it all. I cannot recommend this stay enough. Nothing to not like!
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
