Guest Reviews
- Susie (10/5): Wonderful place to stay and soak in the atmosphere of the Daintree. Very relaxing and peaceful - Stunning view , outdoor bath for star gazing , interesting design using sustainable materials, lovely outdoor feel . Great breakfast Nothing
- Jos (8/5): Eenvoudig maar leuk onderkomen midden in Daintree. - Uitzicht.
- Harriet (10/5): - We adored our stay at Wompoo. It was very quiet and peaceful, the bed was comfortable, the outside bath was a lovely addition. The breakfast was delicious.
- Shane (9/5): Lovely owners and a beautiful place to stay . - Breakfast was Fresh and more than enough, bread / condiments great. Pasted my expectations.
- John (9/5): Excellent "get away from it" accommodation - Breakfast was very good with muesli, bread and fresh fruit.
View from patio area Everything was as expected
- eva (10/5): - Welcoming hosts, simple but delicious breakfast, comfortable and cozy bungalows.
- Sarah (10/5): Amazing eco lodge in the mountains of the Daintree - we enjoyed every minute of it! - Had the most wonderful stay at Wompoo Eco Retreat. The room was clean and comfortable and the design of the accommodation was very much to my taste. Outdoor bathroom was such a bonus and the views to Thornton's Peak were incredible, especially after a late afternoon storm. The outdoor bath was a highlight - I want one of these in my house! Breakfast was delicious - local fruit, fresh bread and muesli, and Peter and Jill were so kind to accommodate to our dietary requests. Local coffee and tea provided too, as well as Jill's beautiful handmade soaps. Nothing, this was seriously perfect, thank you so much!
- Jeanne (10/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): Beautiful peaceful eco lodge in Daintree - Beautiful private eco cabin.Loved the views, outdoor bath, and open kitchen and bathroom. Well equipped. Lovely hosts. Location convenient to explore Daintree and Cape Trib. That we couldn't stay longer!
- Sophie (10/5): - Beautiful location and lovely property
- Robert (10/5): A ideal place to relax and unwind! - The bungalow was very comfortable for our three night stay. We were easily able to relax and unwind. Sitting on the veranda watching and listening to the sounds of birds with lovely hills and Thorntons Peak in the background. The warmth and genuine interest shown from Jill and Peter was welcomed. The quality breakfast ingredients locally sourced and of course the outside bathroom area. Perfect. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Patricia (10/5): -
- Cheryl (10/5): What an idyllic place! - We were well looked after by Peter and Jill, who gave us suggestions of places to visit and checked whether we needed extra provisions. Plenty of food was provided for breakfasts and the kitchen was well set up for self-catering. We felt we were immersed in the rainforest and we had a wonderful view of the hills opposite. Its description of an eco retreat was very apt. We would love to stay there again. There was nothing to dislike about this property.
- Jill (8/5): - The peace and tranquility Bath was nice but slow to fill.
- Cathie (10/5): - Sublime !!!!
- Matt (10/5): Perfect spot to spend a few days relaxing in nature, great breakfast included. - Amazing breakfast, amazing location and really nice and clean room with a great view. Nothing
- Bronwyn (9/5): Daintree bliss. - Being right in the forrest. Sustainability. The delicious and generous breakfast provisions . The indoor/outdoor feel. The visiting hummingbirds. The mountain views. The Ulysses butterflies. The friendliness of the hosts. The proximity of the Discovery Centre and a lovely eating option - Crocodylus. The entrance road was a bit rough but not a problem.
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Cora (8/5): Great - We really enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing and the location was beautiful with lovely views. The hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. It was quite different in that you sleep inside but the kitchen is outside. The outside area was quite small and also not that waterproof when it rained.
- T (10/5): Exceptional - Great room, cute breakfast highly recommend Better soap
- Glenda (9/5): Superb - Quite and beautiful spot Not many places around to eat lot closed
- Wendy (9/5): Superb - Everything Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): Chill rainforest eco cottage - Beautiful location in daintree rainforest. Connected to history of activism and resistance to destruction of rainforest and reef. Great location to base out of for point trib to Port Douglas. Gorgeous eco cottage, beautiful bathroom. Breathtaking views. Lovely breakfast & amenities too I didn’t see a tree kangaroo 😂
- Deborah (10/5): Fabulous place to relax and be somewhere so peaceful. Highly recommend - Beautiful location, scenery. Spotlessly clean, great hosts All great

Thoughtful open design that immerses you in the setting.
Lovely breakfast food. Nil
- Dario (10/5): Exceptional - The bungalows are designed to make you feel in contact with nature. Beautiful location with a stunning view. The hosts were very welcoming and thoughtful.
- Carla (8/5): Fantastic stay in the Daintree! - The view, the rustic feeling, the quiet and tranquillity, the outdoor kitchen, outdoor bath, handmade soaps, the breakfast and the friendly staff. There was nothing we didn't like. We think a small coffee machine will be a good addition instead of the plunger. Additional pillows might come in handy.
- Samir (8/5): Very good -
- Romney (10/5): The perfect eco getaway in the heart of the rainforest - absolute heaven! - Wompoo Eco retreat is a beautiful oasis escape from the city! The hosts Jill and Peter are so lovely and welcoming, they made us feel at home straight away. The cabin we stayed in was comfortable, had a gorgeous view, was clean and very well equipped with everything we needed to switch off and be self contained. The indoor/outdoor shower is so lovely for a warm arvo/evening shower with a view after swimming at Mason’s swimming hole and cooking dinner on the deck watching the sunset was just heaven. Oh and if you love a bath there are homemade bath salts and soap for the outdoor bath with artisan water looking up at the stars!! There was even a little local bandicoot that came to say hello ☺️ We absolutely loved our stay and couldn’t fault it! Thank you so much for having us 💛🌴 Everything was perfect! We can’t wait to come back!
- Melissa (10/5): Quick getaway R and R - What wasn't to like? Absolutely stunning and convenient location, the bungalow was top notch, everything seemed high end. Luxurious experience.
Like living amongst the rainforest, open air bathroom and outdoor bath. Amazing.
- Jenna (10/5): Best place to stay in Daintree! - Amazing room in absolutely stunning location. Close to all the things to do in Daintree. Hosts are very welcoming and have great tips. The breakfast, tea, and handmade soap provided are all incredible as well!
- Rebecca (10/5): Spectacular view! - Wompoo Eco Retreat was absolutely amazing!! The outdoor bath and kitchen with a view of the mountains was spectacular. Alongside kind and welcoming owners - we'll be back! -
- Jocelyn (1/5): Exactly what I needed - Amazing stay in nature As advertised was great
- Marie (10/5): It was good. - Such a great venue, so relaxing sitting outside watching the rainforest.
We really enjoyed the outdoor ish shower I didn't like the driveway but that's because I'm weak! Husband loved it!
- Gwen (10/5): Beautiful well appointed eco lodge with stunning views - Beautiful, well appointed eco lodge with stunning views across the ancient Daintree Rainforest to Thornton Peak. It is remote, being north of the Daintree River, but if you’re looking to get away from it all and de-stress/unwind, this is the perfect place to explore this area. Jill is a thoughtful and unobtrusive host- there to give local tips and advice, but otherwise left us alone. Breakfast goodies included organic coffee, a selection of local teas and muesli/fruit. Can not recommend Wompoo highly enough. Everything was perfect
- Bao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sonya (10/5): We had such a wonderful stay here. Everything was perfect. Clean, comfort, hot tub, food. Hosts were very helpful giving - Absolutely everything! Location, cleanliness, comfortable, the fruit and breakfast. All of the touches. Surrounded by nature at its best in the Daintree. It was perfect.
- Jeva (10/5): Incredibly relaxing and comfortable - Loved our stay! The kitchen had everything we needed to self-cater and cook ourselves a nice meal and we really enjoyed cooking outside. The outside bathtub was so lovely and relaxing too. Jill was also very helpful with local recommendations on where to explore during our stay.
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (9/5): Superb - Very private and lovely outlook
- Pieter (10/5): 30th Anerversary Bliss - The location is excellent with magnificent views. I particularly loved the open kitchen and bathroom giving you the feeling that you are part of your surroundings. The outside bath big enough for two was an extra treat. We spent hours lying in bath looking at the stars. The absence of technology like Tv was great for an even better nature experience. The fresh fruit breakfast was excellent combined with the good coffee provided. The fact that I had to leave after having such a great time.
- Barbara (10/5): Would recommend to my friends - Very special place, created with lots of love, in the middle of the rainforest. We would love to come again. Warm welcome, great views, large comfy bed… only downside that shower is outside and in the night easy for insects to get inside, but mostly ants, no mosquitos, plus: full rainforest experience.
- Agota (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful paradise in the middle of the rainforest. Great view, outdoor basin to relax, perfectly equipped outdoor kitchen. Clean and quiet, still very good location to spend a few days in the rainforest. Good tips and map from host to discover the area. Would definitely come back.
- Lee (10/5): A quiet retreat - Location and the total package. It was a lovely fruit and coffee on arrival and for breakfast the muesli was delicious. The kitchen was well equipped for us to cook simple meals in this lovely environment.
Hot tub was a treat. Nothing. All well prepared. Thanks to Jill and Peter
- Graciela (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, nice host
- Lorraine (9/5): The accommodation was very special, different and wonderful in a tropical rainforest. - the breakfast was excellent and the location we loved.
- Rochelle (10/5): Perfect Hillside Rainforest Retreat - The hosts were so welcoming and kind, they met us right when we arrive with huge smiles on their faces. They took the time to give us local recommendations and share more about their property. We were extremely impressed with each unit, from the photos we didn’t realize our group with 2 couples would get their own unit including an outdoor shower and bathroom, outdoor kitchen and soaking tub. We enjoyed the fresh fruit, local tea and muesli while overlooking the rainforest and looking at the birds. We had a phenomenal stay and only wish we could’ve stayed longer.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - Everything It would have been nice to have a second bath salt for the second night stay, but we loved the bath outside
- Caryl (10/5): Awesome - The fresh breakfast of local produce was amazing, and the added little extras like handmade soap and bath salts was perfect.
- Kris (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (10/5): Divine Daintree experience - Location was amazing, view to die for, so private, fantastic outdoor kitchen, outdoor/indoor bathroom, best views whilst showering, fantastic rammed earth outdoor bath, beautiful breakfast provisions, lots of lovely little touches, jill & Pete great hosts, highly recommend, 2 nts wasn’t enough, next time I need a week there. Nothing
- Zoe (10/5): a wonderful, relaxing place to reset and experience our beautiful wildlife - The views and wildlife were exceptional - I could have spent an entire week sitting on the patio just taking it all in. The bungalow felt very homey and it was great having all the kitchen facilities to cook for ourselves. The handmade soaps and bath salts were a lovely surprise, as well as the great range of breakfast items. Couldn’t have asked for a better place for our weekend getaway
- Joanne (9/5): Great location, super view and fabulous breakfast! - Hosts were friendly without being intrusive. Breakfast was lovely and like Oliver we asked for more (kindly and quickly provided!). Setting was gorgeous. Had to get used to be able to chat to someone in the bathroom while cooking outside! Our favourite stay in FNQ. We had a 4WD so the steep driveway was no problems. Could be a problem in bad weather if you had a 2WD. In saying that height of property meant fab views!
- Niall141414 (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful place to stay; in fact, my favourite throughout the whole trip. So much thought has been put into every detail. They have done a great job with consiously reducing their ecological footprint while still providing every luxury you could want. The local teas, coffee and breakfast treats were amazing too. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone else visiting the daintree rainforest!
- Kiri (10/5): Exceptional - There was nothing not to love. The location, the owners, the room itself. Everything was amazing. The most amazing place I have stayed.
- Roxann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Desi (8/5): Very good -
- Lynda (9/5): A very unique and fabulous place to stay - Highly recommend the experience! - The bungalows are very unique with the outdoor kitchen and open air bathroom. The room is nicely done and the added touches of fresh petals, hand made soaps and the incredible breakfast. We were there for 2 nights and given lots of fruit, muesli, bread, coffee etc. Really nicely done. The setting, in the rain forest, is absolutely beautiful. It is a very tranquil and comfortable spot. The only thing that would have made it better was to have air conditioning and better wifi, both I recognize as being not options for that area. And we were grateful for the wifi we did have. It was quite hot in the room, but with the fan going we were able to sleep.
- Rob (8/5): Very relaxing - The breakfast was lovely The outdoor spa could be more comfortable, but it was lovely to soak in there in the afternoon and listen to the birdlife
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (10/5): Beautiful hosts, beautiful accomodation, beautiful facilities, beautiful views - most incredible views with lovely hosts, if you stay here ensure you ask for the best swimming holes, dinner spots and attractions because they do not disappoint!!! We loved the beautiful outdoor kitchen and hot tub!! Easy access to everything in the Daintree while still feeling completely and totally isolated, it’s was HEAVEN!! The fact we had to go home - we could’ve stayed for weeks longer!!!
- Paul (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - We stayed in the Mangosteen bungalow for three nights and it was wonderful! Don't expect TV and fast Wi-Fi, instead relish the views to Thornton Peak during the day and the Milky Way at night.
Jill and Peter are excellent hosts, providing lots of info on top spots to visit, as well as some very nice extras, like a fruit platter, fresh baked bread, local coffee, and handmade soap.
The room and furniture are first class. We loved this place and highly recommend it. Nothing to say.
- Sunil (9/5): A great place perfect for couples that feels like a romantic retreat in the middle of the Daintree. - Amazing and quiet place in the heart of the Daintree with great facilities. Beautiful view looking over the mountains and close to walks, beaches, everything you want in the Daintree. Would highly recommend for a romantic getaway!
- Barbara (10/5): A chance to chill out. - A private, relaxing, off grid but comfortable retreat with lovely views and a great outdoor bath. I recommend bringing your own food because it was so nice to be there in the evening. We slowed right down and didn't worry too much about sightseeing. Nothing.
