Guest Reviews
- Bob (10/5): -
- Shanon (10/5): Rooks Edge is a must!! - Me and my partner had a fantastic stay, what didn't we like?! The lovely host couple have an amazing home which they warmly welcomed us into! We had our space in isolated part of the property with with everything we need and more for the two of us and our puppy! The view is breath taking and it's so peaceful out at Rooks Edge. The way they've got this set up is just amazing, definitely would recommend and re book! And they even let us check out late, with no fee. My partner and I both said this is the first accommodation in years we cant fault.... thanks Ronelle and James That we had to go back home!! We LOVED our two nights here.
- Li-Chun (10/5): The most wonderful, peaceful place! Couldn’t recommend it more! - The most tranquil I have felt in a very long time! Such a beautiful place to stay and everything that we needed. The room was large and comfortable, the kitchen facilities and breakfast plentiful and animals aplenty! Ronelle was such a wonderful host, we even got to herd sheep with the dogs. Could not fault this stay in any way. Nothing, the stay was perfect!
- Demia (10/5): I’ve stayed here a few times now and every time, it has been perfect. Thank you so very much! - Perfect location, very clean and dog friendly. Thank you ! Everything was perfect. Thank you.
- Nicole (9/5): Wonderful relaxing B&B for both humans and dogs - Fireplace and plentiful supply of wood
Owner who was friendly and attentive
The facilities are perfect for dog owners as the rooms have concrete floors plus there are multiple paddocks for dogs to run and play ball. Nothing
- Svetlana (7/5): - The property is located in a beautiful and peaceful area, surrounded by hills and open fields.
The room is spacious and features both air conditioning and a cozy fireplace. From the balcony, you can enjoy a lovely view of sheep passing by.
The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a generous selection of essentials: yogurt, bread, jams, milk, juice, coffee, and tea are all provided. You'll also find olive oil and a wide variety of spices for cooking. Unfortunately, the level of cleanliness was disappointing.
Our bathroom, especially the toilet was not clean, which made us feel that it might have been overlooked during preparation. There were also many hairs on the floor from previous guests, which was quite off-putting.
The main living area also did not appear to have been cleaned thoroughly. While we understand that staying on a farm can come with a variety of natural smells and that the owner may be used to them we noticed a very strong dog odor in the living space. It made it difficult to spend time there comfortably, especially when cooking or eating. A diffuser might help improve this.

The house is beautifully built, extremely spacious and comfortable.
Our hosts, Ronelle and James, were exceptionally warm and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the farm/airstrip tour and the demonstration of a top sheep dog 🐕 at work. It was all great.
- Judy (10/5): A complete reset of our mental and physical beings. - This is a remarkable property. Gorgeous views, the most amazing sunset I have seen in ages. It just went on and on. The wonderful thing is the owners approach to their farm and animals, their care and dedication to honouring the land, the environment and the lives of their animals and the wildlife. Oh yes, and the care for their guests Nothing

We loved the aesthetics of the fireplace, it made us feed very much at home. we didnt have anyone else sharing the venue during our stay. i do wonder how i would hve coped sharing the kitchen etc.
- Heather (9/5): Fantastic stay with lovely friendly hosts - Lovely friendly hosts.Plenty of variety for breakfast. Room was fantastic size. Bed was super comfy. Kitchen and lounge area were well equipped. Stayed with our Fur baby. Accomodation extremely well set up for safe stay. Although this Accomodation is set up to allow pets you would never know a pet had previously stayed. Fresh and Clean. Would definitely stay again. Nothing not to like about this property.
- Sally (9/5): Unique, fabulous , sparkly clean, modern, dog friendly farm stay . - Exceptionally clean, beautiful large rooms with modern bathrooms attached- thoughtful features such as a wood fire in each accommodation, but split system also . There’s your own access to outside with enclosed area for your dog . Superb views. Wonderful experiences such as feeding the rescue pigs, observing the Corriedale sheep and Alpacas, and being in a green environment. There was more than adequate provisions for breakfast, and we felt it was very good value . Less than an hours drive from Melbourne too . We really were pleasantly surprised. We can’t think of anything!
- Megan (10/5): Country hospitality at it's best - Very modern and spacious. Peaceful surroundings and adequate space in shared kitchen Nothing to complain about

- Natasha (10/5): Ewe will love it! 🐑 - Everything! We were warmly greeted by James, Ronelle, and their cute doggies, and made to feel part of the family 😊 Facilities are lovely with a spacious common area and separate bedroom/bathroom accommodations. We stayed in Room 1 which is named after one of their friendly sheep 'Mitch'. The room was great, with a super comfy bed, seating area, wardrobe, fireplace (too warm while we were there!), and large shower and bath. Two sliding glass doors open to the outdoor undercover area with expansive views across the farm, forest, and towards Corio Bay. We loved the curious sheep and their personal bodyguard Alpaca called 'Stu' just hanging around in the paddocks outside the room. We also enjoyed "helping" Ronelle with some sheep-related tasks around the farm, meeting the sweet little lambs, and falling asleep to the nightly frog chorus. Thanks for a wonderful time! Highly recommend, and we will be back! ❤️ 🐑 Barry & Tash x Nada

- Diane (9/5): Enjoyed the peace but had a few things that we wanted not supplied - Relaxed and peaceful location Didn’t know where any blankets were for outside seating . Lovely spot outside to watch sunset but didn’t find a blanket until last day .
Expected juice with continental breakfast and no paper towels or services anywhere
- Rupasinghe (10/5): Place is extremely relaxing and environment friendly. - This place is extremely relaxing and environment friendly. Very neat and spacious rooms, dining, living and kitchen made us feel very comfortable. We were delighted by two lambs named Baby and a beautiful red parrot. Ronelle and James, thank you so much for your hospitality and creating such an amazing property and managing it so well. None
- Noel (10/5): We will definitely come back and stay here again. Had a sensational get away - The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I organised a little surprise for my partner prior to arrival and they had everything taken care of. Not much at all. We had a magnificent time
- Anonymous (10/5): The place is fantastic view, friendly pets and intimately B&B owner. -
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Asher (8/5): Gorgeous weekend getaway - Only a stone throw from Gisborne and Bacchus Marsh with great facilities! Lovey fire place and bath in our room to keep warm. Beautiful view of the sheep grazing in the morning and through the day.
Shared kitchen and living facilities but still spaced out enough to not know anyone else was there.
Lovely decor and all ammenities provided.
Super friendly owner! There were some crows who liked to visit early in the morning… luckily we are early birds too :)
- Anne (10/5): Loved my stay and would definitely visit again - Beautiful views and tranquility . I took my pet - dog and she loved it too I went there during cold weather and didn’t get a chance to explore or hang out with goats
- David (10/5): Simply a perfect getaway. - The room was absolutely fantastic, including a fireplace at the end of the bed with amazing views and cleanliness! The owners in particular were so incredibly helpful and engaging and even invited my partner and I to undertake some lamb bottle feeding and so on! Simply was a perfect getaway and won't hesitate to refer this location to anyone. Will be back soon! Absolutely nothing.
- Sharron (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was great but the accommodation was a lot further away from where we needed to be than we thought. Sadly we only had two pieces of wood for the wood fire on the first night. We asked for some more for the second night and was only provided with kindling.
- Yonie (9/5): Great dog friendly option - Beautiful setting and spacious room. Was a great base for our weekend adventures and being dog friendly was a great bonus as we could bring our little dog with us. Just make sure you read the directions for which driveway to head down as we arrived after dark and got a little lost but James got us to the right area.

The property was absolutely stunning. it is a good 13klms to town. But great if you wanted to just spend a few days relaxing and reading a book

- Magnus (10/5): Gorgeous! - An awesome hidden gem - great little farm with wonderful amenity and not too far to drive to restaurants and outings. Fantastic to help feed the two gorgeous pigs and the rescued sheep Nothing to fault - we loved it!
- Tracey (10/5): quiet and relaxing - well presented and comfortable
perfect for a short break but could happily have stayed longer nothing
- Vicky (10/5): Exceptional - I went with a work colleague in September for a mini getaway and absolutely loved the place I had to take my partner there during the Christmas/New Year breaks. There are quite a few places to go for sightseeing around the accommodation, or just chill at the property, there are lots of farm animal there. The place is very serene, we spent most of our time just relaxing in the back drinking beer and wine or put on a fire and toasted marshmallows. Both times I went were during public holidays so I brought food and had BBQ at the backyard for dinner every night. James and Ronelle were very nice and friendly hosts. They made the place felt like home away from home but still a getaway, they were welcoming and warm but not in an invasive way, we still had a lot of privacy. They showed us around the property and their plane project. My partner especially enjoyed Jame's home brewed beer and Ronelle was very responsive when I needed anything. Highly recommend Rooks Edge if anyone want to escape the hustle and bustle for a relaxing getaway! Internet reception isn't stable. But no biggies.
- Hewafonsekage (9/5): Superb - Very modern furniture, calm and quiet with beautiful view Everything was great
- Penny (8/5): Very good -
- Jessica (7/5): Fantastic stay, easy to get to the main town in Gisborne, great little spot to relax, great views - The room was so dark and quiet we slept in past our alarms, however, you had the option for sheer curtains if you would like some light in the room.
Peaceful space, car park provided, lots of information for local restaurants and attractions. The hosts went above and beyond with breakfast, we had delicious farmers milk, fresh juice, fresh fruit and vegegies and toast. It was more than we expected for breakfast. - no private refrigerator in room, but we made it work
- the kitchen is a shared space, so you do hear others get up or have breakfast/meals at the same time.
If you don’t mind this though, it’s quite pleasant space with open plan and some cosy couches to relax in. We weren’t too bothered by this but usually prefer a private eating area.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Jessica (10/5): Friendly hosts - Everything Nothing
- Charmaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cruising (9/5): Amazing place to chill, the rooms are massive, and the wood fire is a lovely addition. - Amazing place to chill, the rooms are massive, and the wood fire is a lovely addition, the bed was one of the nicest I have ever slept on, will definitely be back. the rooms were quiet. The sheep are beautiful. The doors aren't able to be closed quietly so felt a bit guilty when needing to go out early.
- Alison (7/5): Good - Beautiful room in a beautiful location. Excellent value fir money. The accomodation is 3 rooms around a central area with couches and a kitchen used by all the guests staying.
- Susan (10/5): we will return if we are able. - it was quiet and lovely view even with the rain. log fire was a big hit great to see the local fauna having a free run. nothing too dislike.
- Julie (8/5): Relaxing and very comfortable , just what we needed. - Quiet rural location was fine (chose this ) and breakfast provisions perfect for our needs Not a issue but thought it could have been clearer on booking that we would be sharing kitchen/lounge with other guests. The other guests were delightful and great company so not a problem , some may not have liked this ? Thought a microwave could have been useful .
- Stacey (9/5): We had a lovely getaway and will be returning to Rooks Edge - It was private, comfortable and the hosts were extremely welcoming and kind. Can’t really think of anything.
- Hewm (9/5): Lovely luxurious stay with great views, a short trip from Melbourne. - The view is lovely. The ceilings are high. The decor is fabulous. The fireplace in the bedroom is lovely. The location is a short drive from Gisborne and a relatively short trip from metropolitan Melbourne. There are lots of walks in the area.
