Guest Reviews
- Jaap (10/5): It was a fabulous experience, vegan breakfast and the house gave us a feeling of being home. - Location, Breakfast, Friendliness, "the house", it was almost unreal in positive sense. The attention given to the vegan breakfast was outstanding, each day a different approach. The beauty of the surrounding and the house itself was beyond expectations. The hosts were very friendly and were given us the right amount of attention...we visited some spots, but we liked very much to be quite reading in the main rooms. I still can't believe the ratio quality/price, which we experienced as very positive. Not much.

- Howard (10/5): A must for any fan of b&b's. - The hosts Audrey and Bogey are warm and friendly people who will make you feel comfortable in their home. The breakfasts are beyond gourmet- elaborate, delicious, beautiful to look at and featuring an vast array of items that include Audrey's fabulous blueberry muffins. We make an annual 'pilgrimage' to this gem of the Kawarthas. The weekend was too short!
- Rohit (8/5): Beautifully maintained property with lovely interiors, but missing basic amenities that made the stay less convenient. - The property was exceptionally well maintained, with beautifully manicured grounds that enhanced the overall charm. The room was well appointed, offering comfort and attention to detail. The living room was especially lovely — spacious, inviting, and perfect for relaxing after a long day. However, the property lacked basic amenities you’d normally expect — no access to a hot water kettle, coffee machine, or microwave. We had to ask the host to warm our homemade dinner, which was inconvenient. Even for morning coffee, we had to drive out before our hike. Small details, but they make a big difference.
- Aleksandra (10/5): I’d stay there again if we are ever in the area! - We came for a friend’s wedding and stayed at Shambhala for two nights — honestly, it’s one of the best bed and breakfasts we’ve ever experienced. The rooms were spotless, the house is full of history and character and what truly made the stay unforgettable were the owners. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel so at home that words can hardly describe it. They are some of the kindest people we’ve met, and their care makes all the difference. The homemade breakfast was absolutely delicious, and I already miss the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of this place.

- Marilyn (10/5): Our stay at Shambhala was memorable and we would highly recommend it. - Hosts very accommodating, the property beautiful and the breakfasts delicious. The rooms were generous in size, beds comfortable.
- Robin (10/5): Perfect. - I indicated that I’d like a vegan breakfast, which was provided. All were excellent. The grounds are beautiful. Audrey and Bogey are friendly and kind. Nothing.
- Yu-Ting (10/5): - The hosts, Audrey and Bogey, are very kind and warm. They offer the best advice for local travel destinations. Plus, the breakfast is one of the best I have ever had in any bed and breakfasts. It is a wonderful place to relax.
- Marjan (10/5): -
- CHARLOTTE (10/5): Absolutely sensational and a life changing experience - From start to finish our stay was amazing and more than we could have asked for. Nothing was a problem for Audrey and Bogey. They welcomed us into their home as if we were long distance friends. We left at the end of the stay feeling content and as though we have made friends. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast is out of this world. I can not rave about Shambhala enough. N/a
- John (10/5): Excellent and exceptional. Absolutely lovely and most hospitable couple running the B&B - Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful and large property. No dislikes
- Larry (10/5): Perfect people, location, breakfast . Well worth it. - Breakfast was excellent. Blueberry muffins were very filling. Not hungry for the day.
Location was close to rally HQ. Nice quiet location after the car rally. Nothing
- Adams (8/5): Lovely hosts Quirky surroundings Fun place to stay - Brilliant food and more than we could eat Perhaps som cereal + milk but not an issue
- Duncan (10/5): Shambhala is a magical place to rest and restore. Audrey and Bogey are incredible hosts with a talent for breakfast that - Audrey and Bogey have created a truly beautiful and unique sanctuary. The inside is like a museum, filled with so many interesting statues, paintings and artifacts. An endless treasure trove of curiosities. The garden is a mirror to the inside, like a Chinese cup garden, with beautiful meditative areas throughout. Whoever comes to Shambhala is in for a treat.
- Fields (6/5): We got sick and had to leave still haven’t heard from them - Very nice Hard to find
- Robert (10/5): A uniquely delightful place to stay - Fascinating and intriguing decor at every turn. Warm, friendly hosts, delicious breakfasts. Can’t think of a thing - perhaps some repairs to the queen suite shower, but really no complaints
- Michelle (10/5): Relaxing. Wonderful hosts. Amazing breakfast!! - Beautiful oasis of nature! We especially enjoyed the morning spectacle at the bird feeders!
- Dorothy (9/5): Superb - Fantastic!!! Location was what we needed for the visiting we were doing.
- Karen (10/5): A little piece of heaven - Absolutely gorgeous and relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was phenomenal. The hosts are so nice and catered to us. We spent hours by the pond enjoying the wildlife and Bogey was sweet enough to bring us binoculars to get a better view of the beavers, ducks and deer. So happy to see there was a mini fridge for drinks or snacks. 100% will be back to this B&B. There's nothing I didn't like. I would suggest however if you're hoping to sleep in, your might want to bring a sleep mask. I stayed in the king suite and loved waking up to the beautiful sunshine that filtered through the curtains, but I'm a morning person and and didn't want to waste vacation in bed.
- Christopher (9/5): Perfect getaway/hideaway for a weekend visit away from the big city. Wonderful hosts indeed! - Cozy, interesting and a lovely getaway spot.
- Richard (10/5): A piece of Paradise in Ontario. Canada. - The home was warm and inviting. Audrey and Bogey were the ultimate hosts treating you like family. The Breakfasts were the best I have encountered in my 40 years of travel for business or pleasure. The home is situated on a small pond with flowers, birds and squirrels surrounding the porch. Their two shitzu dogs Teddy and Molly were very cute and friendly. Would absolutely stay there again. Can't recall any negatives.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): Shambhala is beautiful, tranquil and engaging. We particularly enjoyed meeting Audrey and Bogey. - Oh my. Fabulous. To make it even better, our hostess packed up some of her incredible blueberry muffins for a snack as while we explored the area. We loved watching the birds and squirrels and admiring the beauty of the trees and pond while we enjoyed our breakfasts. Nothing.
- Nancy (10/5): Relaxing and pampered stay - Amazing breakfasts. Warm, welcoming hosts. Super cute dogs. Beautiful and tranquil setting
- Zhu (10/5): Would like to go back soon. - The muffins and the breakfast were amazing! The room is cozy and comfortable and the decorations are full of fun. The location is convenient. There are many interesting and nice places to visit in the nearby towns. We had a great time.
- Judy (9/5): Very welcoming a great place to stay. - Breakfast was phenomenal. Lost of options, something for everybody. Different each day we were there.
- Brent (8/5): All-in-all it's a good place to stay to retreat for awhile. - Pet and people welcoming. It's a beautiful setting for dog walking. There are many nearby amenities. The chairs in the family suite are more decorative than comfortable. The mattresses in each bedroom appear to be vintage and could be upgraded to mattresses of this century.
- Cherian (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (10/5): We enjoyed a peaceful retreat in a wonderful setting with scrumptious breakfasts and kind hosts. - The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. The beautiful house is set in a serene natural environment
- C (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ulhas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikki (5/5): Would avoid basement family suite - Breakfast was amazing and the hosts were very friendly Would not recommend basement suite. Saw many spiders and bugs throughout. Uncomfortable beds. Terrible odor. Had to buy air freshener and limit time in the suite. The upstairs suites seem reasonable but basement needs serious upgrades.
- Michael (10/5): Only one word is needed. Excellent! - Breakfast is good. The location is idyllic. The hosts (Bogey & Audrey) were excellent! Shambhala is a little bit of paradise. Nothing!
- Terrence (10/5): We would recommend this BnB to everyone. Will book again when we are in the area. - The hosts were so friendly and engaging. We felt like family. Best breakfast we have ever had! Nothing
- Yatharth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cilia (7/5): Nice place but not recommended for families with children. Also, make sure checking whether you have breakfast included - Nice place and surroundings It has lots amounts of furniture and decorating artifacts that make it a non suitable place for small children.
- Heather (10/5): Peaceful and art-filled, with a 5+ star breakfast - The gourmet breakfast was soooo good. Delightful hosts, pretty gardens, and art & sculptures everywhere you look inside and outside. We loved sitting in our suite's screened in porch, watching the lake. Local Buckhorn and Bobcaygeon have shops, cafes, and good restaurants. Enjoyed pizza in Buckhorn
- Reine (10/5): Tranquility and rest in nature with amazing hosts and food! - We were blown away by the breakfast, something we will remember for years. But equally was the hospitality from Bogey and Audrey! Thank you both so much for making our time amazing! I hope we get to see you again soon!
- Erickson (9/5): Superb - Charming bed and breakfast with fabulous caretakers. Made us feel like part of their family.
Blueberry muffins were excellent!!! Our beds were very firm. Rooms needed a bit of dusting.
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Stevens (10/5): It’s the best BnB I’ve ever had the privilege and pleasure of being welcomed into, especially in the first few breaths o - The people, the location is like I imagine heaven might be. My only regret is that I don’t live there !thing
- Byron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lawrence (8/5): A great place to decompress. - Overall the atmosphere was very relaxing and calming. Breakfast was delicious and exceeded what we were expecting.
Audrey and Bogie are a lovely couple and make the stay that much more enjoyable.
- Kimi (9/5): Superb -
- Melbourne (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing--we wil certainly visit again - The ambiance is stunning, the room was perfect, and I could go on and on about how amazing the breakfasts were This is not a complaint, but more of an observation on our part.
The hosts have on display the most stunning collection of asian art, collectables, glass ware, antique lamps, and other treasures too numerous to mention, so this is not a good fit for those with young, energectic children
- John (10/5): Excellent B&B for couples - Great hosts and beautiful b&b Excellent breakfast. Awesome decor and spacious B&B in a relaxing environment
- Donna (10/5): The best B&B that we have every stayed at. We highly recommend the experience of staying there - Breakfast is always exceptional. If you leave the table hungry that’s your doing. Such a beautiful selection and can’t forget those home made jams and decadent blueberry muffins. Audrey and Bogey go over and above to give you the most relaxing experience. They are both so passionate about what they do and how they treat their guests. Not to mention the entertainment provided by the wildlife outside their dining window in the mornings and their two precious babies Teddy and Molly. If you are looking for total relaxation and tranquility this is the place to come.
- Peter (10/5): An extraordinary experience: we would love to return! - Audrey and Bogie are the most wonderful hosts: the warm welcome, the great advice on things to do, the exceptional breakfast, and the muffins To Go….every bit of our stay was a pure treat! Nothing…
- Sadrolhefazi (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts are awesome and the breakfast was amazing.
- Shauna (10/5): Paradise Found - Audrey and Bogey are an amzing couple who go above and beyond to welcome you into their little piece of paradise and make you feel like it is your home. From the minute we arrived we felt like we had known them forever. It was a perfect get away. Audrey and Bogey are well known and respected in and outside of their community and they have amazing connections and recommendations for places to eat, things to do and any business you talk to knows who they are. The Shambhala Bed and Breakfast itself is a beautiful home filled with so many wonderful treasures, you have to look around more than once to really see and admire everything that is there.
The breakfasts they prepared for us every morning were absolutely delicious, you left the table full and ready to start the day.
Tranquility, comfort and relaxation, while being pampered by amazing hosts is what you will experience if you visit the Shambhala. It is my new little piece of paradise and I will visit again. That we had to leave :( You honestly feel like you are already home.
- Mohan (10/5): Relaxing stay with great good and even better hosts - Excellent breakfast. Some of the best muffins. The host made the meal with care and really provided us with a hearty Mel to begin the day. The rooms were a little crowded. There could have been a little less furniture to make the property more walk friendly. This is not a complaint but rather an observation.
- Jocelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ramelan (9/5): Superb -
- Gordon (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Room should have a lock on the door
- Sarah (10/5): Very homey and Audrey and Bogie are lovely. They went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful. Incredible food! - Beautiful setting, comfortable room, amazing breakfast. The only thing I would have liked would be a light above the bathroom mirror for better makeup application.
- Robfromtheshwa (10/5): The weather and hosts were great! Down to earth friendly family like people. Thanks! - Audrey & Bogey make a hearty, delicious breakfast each morning. So much wonderful food. Thanks guys! I can't find anything to complain about.
- Robin (10/5): This was my second visit to this establishment. There will be a third. Thank you, Audrey, Bogey, Teddy and wee Molly. - Beautiful frowns and interior. Lovely hosts. Breakfasts are out of this world. Best of all, it’s dog friendly! Nothing. All great.
- Moses (10/5): Amazing - Wverto Nothing
- Deborah (9/5): Lovely peaceful spot for any stay in the area! - Hosts were very accommodating, breakfast was hot, delicious and abundant and the property was fascinating and very peaceful and calming.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional - The B&B is located on an easy-to-access, serene, and beautifully kept property. There is ample parking space and the grounds are gorgeous (be sure to bring mosquito protection). Audrey and Bogey are lovely hosts who both welcomed us and allowed us to have our space. Their meals are absolutely phenomenal - tasty, fresh, and abundant. Truly top notch. We also appreciated the way Audrey and Bogey were extremely mindful of my daughter's dog allergies (we loved their cute new puppy from afar), and gave us excellent sight-seeing recommendations around the Kawarthas. Thank you for making the first road trip for my daughter and me such a unique experience!
- Nika (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Really great. We will come again. - Breakfast was super, as were the hosts.
- Greg (8/5): Very good - The owners were friendly but yet not in your face. Very accommodating. The sheer curtains on our bedroom patio door.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (10/5): A must for relaxing and enjoying nature! - An amazing breakfast and incredible hosts!
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jihan (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful house, like sleeping in a museum. Warm Welcome and Delicious breakfasts, it was beyond our expectations.
- Macleod (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome breakfast. Very close to kayaking spots.
- Renpu (10/5): Beautiful environment, rich house, hospitable host, excellent breakfast - The breakfast was excellent. The table and the food was unique. The host made us as comfortable as possible. The artful breakfast was light and delicious. Can't ask for more. They also gave us some token 'take away' food to go out with. Excellent hosts. There was not any thing we didn't like about the B & B. Both hosts are knowledgeable and helpful. We have had extra tips about their old and new ornaments in their collection which was very exciting. We were not only have a short break, but learn new things too. Very pleased with our stay
- Astrid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Hayden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Morris (8/5): Very good - This is our second stay at shamballa, nature, ambiance, and the breakfast are amazing. The grounds are full of worthy picture moments and tons of cute animals.
- Darrel (10/5): fantastic people and absolutely wonderful breakfasts - wonderfully kept grounds
- Huicee (10/5): Exellent BnB experience ever had. - Andrey and Bogie are greatest host of this paradise-like, nature surraounded BnB. The best of our experience of BnBs so far in Ontario. The breakfast was great we have ever had, which was prepared and served by them in person in their beatiful dinning room. The cottage and garden were decorated with precious Asia art influence, created such a peaceful and serene environment that added so much value to our stay. Very impressiove! We also enjoyed chating with Andrey and Bogie and other guests, it made our trip also meaningful, i.e meeting with people and know the story behind the property. Also thanks Andrey for allowing me play on the grand piano. None.
- Neal (10/5): Audrey and Bogey were great hosts. Only wished we had had bit more time to get to know them better. - We were completely happy with the breakfasts provided. Lots of choice and more than either of us could eat. And everything tasted great. If I had one tiny complaint, it was that the laneway was a little too narrow to get our pickup truck into the parking lot. The trees sort of hung over the lane. Our truck is rather large though, so the problem was mostly ours. Just drive slowly and all will be well.
- Robfromtheshwa (10/5): We would definitely stay again & see their cute cute dog named Teddy. - The hosts Audrey & Bogey were nice down to earth people. The environment was exciting. My wife saw a bear. Our stay was to short.
