Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (10/5): Very comfortable home with fabulous views & a fantastic host. - Fantastic view & the host Paul was very friendly & accommodating. Paul cooked us dinner which was delicious. Highly recommend this B&B Nothing
- Margie (10/5): Just what we wanted. - Hospitality, very comfortable and the view and location was outstanding and convenient.
- Charlotte (10/5): - The host was very helpful and professional. And the accommodation is beautiful inside and out. I just wish we stayed for longer.
- Carol (10/5): -
- Julia (9/5): Elevated views at a reasonable price - Paul was so welcoming, from his first message. He made sure we were comfortable and had our room pre-warmed with the heater on. Our room was very large, with an ensuite, all with our own entry key, and we had access to our own lounge area where we ate breakfast cooked by Paul in the morning. Ben, the cat, also stopped by to welcome us. The view from the house is extraordinary.
- Christine (10/5): Great location, stunning view, comfy bed, host was great. - The view and the quiet. Nothing
- Trisha (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Warm and welcoming with great views and a relaxing space - Location is absolutely beautiful on the hill with a large patio you can sit on and look over the valley and mountains.
The rooms are cosy and warm with a very homely feel, not to mention a great shower.
And the host is a very friendly and welcoming bloke who makes a great breakfast. We went for one night ended up staying for two, great place to relax and we would absolutely go back. Nothing to dislike.

- Rebecca (10/5): beautiful views and comfortable - Was in a beautiful location, Paul was very helpful and friendly. Lovely sitting on the deck overlooking the Valley nothing, but if want to be walking distance to town it’s bit far but we didn’t mind
- SamsonD (9/5): - Paul was a kind and welcoming host. Breakfast was hot and delicious. He had the room heated before we got there. The view was stunning and the cats were very sweet. We only had access to teaspoons and no other cutlery which made it difficult to eat the dinner we purchased elsewhere.
- Erica (10/5): - Paul was a wonderful host who made us feel at home instantly. The house is so cosy and peaceful
- Steve (10/5): -
- Kati (8/5): Great for access to Bruny island or Hobart - Great morning views over the hills, close to Huonville It could have been slightly cleaner, the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain and there was cat hair on the dining table
- Claire (10/5): - Clean. Comfortable. Perfect temperature inside. Friendly helpful welcoming host Paul.
- Tania. (10/5): -
- Elle (10/5): Perfect home to enjoy - So quiet! Great place to r&r. Paul greeted us on arrival. Great night meal and breakfast. Comfy guest lounge, and deck to enjoy.

Had no issues during our stay.

- Derek (10/5): - Lovely Host, location and room! Bed was comfortable and clean! Just note the drive to the property is quite steep and a gravel road! But easily manageable if driven carefully!
- Matthew (10/5): Next time we’re in Huonville we won’t even consider anywhere else. - The location is gorgeous. We felt like we were way out in the bush, but at the same time just minutes from town. Our host was friendly and very helpful but also discreet and stayed out of the way when we wanted privacy. Watching pademelons forage while we ate breakfast was amazing. The hot water in the shower took a while to heat up. A minor thing really.
- Kathleen (9/5): Stunning views over Huon Valley -tranquil setting - Paul our host was welcoming and funny. He encourages the pademelons to come feed in the mornings near the balcony so the guests can see them up close. The beds were comfortable and we got a nice shower. Paul made us breakfast with his own hen laid eggs. The location is a steep drive up an unsealed but well maintained road, but the view is stunning over the Huon Valley and township. We had an outstanding meal at Lost Captain in town too. A few things are starting to need a bit of attention, but they weren’t really bothersome. It had a homely feel.
- Akanksha (10/5): Will surely visit again - Awesome location

Charming host Nothing
- Merrilee (9/5): -
- Liz (10/5): Great house. Would stay longer to enjoy the view from the balcony if ever there again. - It certainly gave you the views which you would expect with the name "house on the hill". The owner was accommodating, friendly and happy to answer any questions. We were only there for the night as just passing thru the town. We were happy with the effort the owner when to to give us a professional style home stay. Also included was a wonderful breakfast.
- Ulysses (9/5): - Yummy breakfast and very comfy place, feels like home. Sticky veranda floor
- albert (7/5): -
- Kiri (10/5): -
- Joanne (8/5): -
- Bernice (9/5): Loved our stay at House on the Hill. Thanks Paul for your excellent hospitality 😊 -
- Shuang (10/5): Very friendy host and great view - The owner was very friendly and a great chat. The owner also cooked a delicious breakfast. The view was incredible. There was some interesting animals to see, including pet cats.
- John (7/5): Nice Views - A beautiful location, up on the top of a steep hill with a commanding view of the valley below. Host was very welcoming.
- Janet (8/5): We gave face to face feedback to host :) -
- Wojciech (10/5): - Host, room, location, garden, views
- Sue (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful and Paul was a wonderful host - The seclusion but being only four minutes from the town. The hospitable host the wild animals at the porch, the Outlook and the comfort of being literally at a farm stay Nothing
- Alison (9/5): -
- Maria-Delia (4/5): Unpleasant... - Beautiful location with a view over the Huon River.
Wildlife around the house. Dirty and poor behaviour from the owner.
Before 8am on check-out day (with check out being 10am) the owner knocked on our door once and before we even had time to realise what was happening (we were asleep) he used his key and entered the room. He did apologise and said he didn't know we were there, because we are very quiet people! Really?! Shocking behaviour...
The bathroom was dirty, with grime running down the walls, hairs stuck to walls, grimy shower. The plastic kettle in the living room was terribly grimy and looked like it had never been cleaned.
We were also unlucky the other guests being very inconsiderate and loud - but I guess that's not the hosts fault.
- Smith (10/5): - Our friendly host Paul made us a fabulous prawn cocktail, fresh oysters & Xmas roast Turkey & baked veggies & delicious fruit salad & cream parfait 😋 we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thankyou Paul
- Danijela (9/5): - The views are amazing and Paul is a wonderful host.
- Carol (10/5): -
- Smith (10/5): We expected it to be good - it was better. - Comfy and spacious accommodation with stunning views and lovely garden. Paul also does really good, reasonably-priced, evening meals. Excellent value. Friendly and helpful host - but not intrusive. There's nothing not to like.
- Harold (8/5): A lovely homely B&B ideally situated of exploring the Huon Valley - This is a very quiet place to stay in Huonville not far from the township and as the name suggests up on a hill with commanding views of the countryside and the Huon River. We were very warmly welcomed by Paul and a much appreciated warm room as well as the fire in the common lounge/dining room on such a cold and wet afternoon.
The B&B is ideally located for exploring the Huon Valley area and resting up after a days sightseeing.
- Deb (8/5): -
- Tristan (10/5): Last minute jackpot find that led to a magical evening. - Paul, the host was an exemplar of geniality and warmth. The house is in an outstanding location with really nice garden and surrounds that we were encouraged to explore. The wildlife came down at dusk and my little girl and I had a magical evening watching Padamelons munch the grass seed before we started stargazing. The room was basic but very comfortable and had everything you could want. Paul even offered to nip into town to get some hot chocolate, which was just the sweetest offer. We slept incredibly well and enjoyed a lovely shower. Breakfast was generous and really great tasting. Huonville is cute little town and one bite of the local apples made me rethink my life choices and whether we could relocate. I highly recommend staying here. Nothing of any significance. Maybe a small night lamp in the kids room would be useful if they needed to get up, but there is nothing I didnt like.
- Loretta (8/5): A fabulous place and a fabulous host - Stunning location. Homemade breakfast
- Albert (8/5): - Hartelijke ontvangst en uitzicht. De weg naar de accomodatie.
- Glenda (9/5): - Paul was very friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. He even welcomed our dog. Nothing really.
- Ross (10/5): - Serenity Nothing
- Karen (9/5): -
- Ronay (10/5): -
- Carolyne (10/5): - Nice quiet private location and clean.
Good service
- Marion (8/5): Pleasant the view is spectacular - Terrific view Bed linen was a bit confusing and didn't fit well enough to keep me warm
- JIAN (10/5): -
- Maree (10/5): Brilliant highly recommended -
- Warren (7/5): Not our most enjoyable stay - The location and view Very general advertised information We didn't realise there was no private seating area, exceptt for bed and had to go outside of room to get coffee
While host was friendly, we were unable to communicate breakfast request and while joking around is good, one has to be considerate of guests disabilities
- Camilla (3/5): Overhyped, not worthy of the “exceptional” comments. - Beautiful house and fireplace in the common room. Bed sheets had a strong and unpleasant musty smell, and were quite itchy. The electric blanket plastic panel was in the middle of each side of the bed so my husband and I each had a hard piece of plastic to avoid. The shower didn’t drain properly, causing water to flow out into the bathroom and upon closer inspection, this was due to hair clogging the drain. We were meant to stay 2 nights and ended up leaving after 1. The owner only takes bank payments or cash, doesn’t process the credit card payment according to the website. The property can only be accessed via a very steep dirt road with no lighting.
- Cara (9/5): Superb - Paul and his beautiful property, including 2 cute cats were amazing! Perfect hosts 😊
- Jedda (10/5): A lovely little house surrounded by beautiful nature. - The house itself is beautiful, I was nervous driving up the windy mountain road in the dark but the view was worth it. The bathroom is clean and has a large shower. We woke up to a little paddy melon on the front lawn. Very friendly and accommodating owners. So happy to have found it. We probably should have stayed two nights. There's not really any lighting on the road and it's a bit of a scary steep drive in the dark or if it's raining. But I don't know if there's much they can do about that. Just go slowly and watch out for the lovely wildlife.
- Kruup (10/5): Great B&B with wonderous Huon valley vistas - Great views, lovely dining room, great dinner cooked by host Paul, friendly chats with our host. Will revisit when Tasmanian daylight savings hours start as we will enjoy lovely views over dinner. Very minor. The dirt road to access the B&B needs a little repair. But hey no dirt road no view.
- Vance (10/5): Excellent property with a friendly host - Even though it was built in the 90’s it had the rustic colonial look Small electric blanket
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (10/5): Great B & B - Paul was a wonderful, welcoming host. He looked after us so well we will definitely be back. Nothing
- Pownall (10/5): Exceptional - Great service from the host
- Alison (9/5): A very homely B & B. - Very comfortable. Very friendly host. Lovely views. Nothing.
- Deanna (9/5): Superb -
- Deanna (9/5): Superb -
- Maureen (10/5): Had a pleasant relaxing short stay, great sleep. - Lovely well cared house with lots of character, nicely furnished. The views are beautiful looking down on the Huon river with the mountains surrounding it. So quiet and peaceful. The host was friendly and welcoming. There was nothing not to like.
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): An excellent place to stay, don’t let the track up the hill worry you..it’s worth it! - Breakfast was delicious. The view amazing.

- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cooper (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (9/5): Paul our host was very good, nothing was a problem for him we enjoyed ourselves very much -
- Ollie (9/5): A place worth the drive up the hill. - The property is situated on a hill that looks out onto Huonville. The place was spotless and the room had a lovely cozy feel to it. John the owner was very friendly and accommodating. Not a lot really. The table in suite 1 was a bit wonky when you sat and ate.
- Sandra (9/5): Paul our host couldn’t have been any more accommodating. He made us feel right at home. - The house had a lot of charm, like its owner Paul :) It was comfortable and clean with amazing views! The pademelons and native geese on the property were lovely to see, along with the chickens and black face sheep. The decor was a little tired looking, but this just added to the charm. Unfortunately the garden has suffered due to long periods of dry weather.
- Rachael (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed everything about the House on the Hill. Paul the owner was very hospitable and went over and above to ensure we had comfortable stay. Dinner and breakfast were also amazing. Nothing
