• Darryn (10/5): This B&B is perfect! - The location was excellent. It is near everything we wanted to see on our honeymoon. Frank was an amazing host. The room was comfortable and quiet. The stairs in Holland are basically a ladder with treads instead of rungs. This is everywhere in the region. So just expect it.

• Sinéad (10/5): Hidden gem in Amsterdam 😊 - My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights recently. Frank couldn’t have been more helpful before arrival and while we were there. Always came to chat to us at breakfast time and we also met his beautiful cat Blanca! Fabulous location, so central. Close to restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. Short walk to canal and Anne Franks house. Absolutely spotless. Sooo clean. Beds and duvets were incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was self service with plenty choice 😊 Would recommend to anyone who wants a more personal and homely experience. Nothing! But not suitable for people with mobility issues as stairs is very steep.

The location on the edge of the Jordaan is perfect, surrounded by great restaurants and shops. The owner is wonderful, attentive, and let us check in early. I cannot imagine a better stay!!

• Jay (10/5): When we go back to Amsterdam, I won't bother looking for any other place to stay! - For starters, Frank is an absolutely wonderful host, providing tips, advice, use of bikes, engaging conversation, all without being intrusive. The location is phenomenal, the room was spacious and very comfortable. Nothing, we couldn't have asked for a better stay.

There were more locals around us than tourists so the shops, restaurants and market were more authentic. We could still easily walk to most of the main attractions. Our room was spacious, well appointed and clean. We loved the breakfast/kitchen area where could make our own tea or coffee or grab a snack. Breakfast every morning with Frank chatting to us and giving us tips and restaurant recommendations was a great start to our day. We felt a better connection to Amsterdam, through Frank, his cat and his lovely house than if we had stayed at a big hotel. The only thing which comes to mind are the steep stairs in the house which are part of being in an older narrow house in Amsterdam. We ended up having fun with the issue and taking photos.

• Raymond (10/5): WestViolet Bed & Breakfast - a comfortable place to stay and an interesting taste of Amsterdam. - If we could rate this Bed and Breakfast a 10+ we would. One of the best places we've stayed. The room was wonderfully decorated with a large comfortable bed, lovely pieces of furniture, and a treasure trove of exceptional photos in tribute to Marilyn Monroe. It was delightful to meet Frank and his beautiful cat Blanca. Frank also provided an excellent breakfast of eggs, cereal, delicious cheeses, croissants, and rolls. Though we had a coffee maker in the room, Frank always offered us a fresh pot of coffee at breakfast each morning. It was a great start to our European vacation. Nothing.

Un host decisamente attento ai suoi ospiti. La posizione è comoda, vicina al centro ma anche in un quartiere tranquillo, molto giovane e ricco di locali. Difficile trovare una pecca. Il costo è medio-alto, ma decisamente in linea con il resto della città. Attenzione alle scale (anche queste tipiche!), alte e con gradini molto stretti, poco adatte a chi ha difficoltà motorie.

• Phillip (10/5): Great B&B in the heart of Amsterdam - Frank and his cat, Blanca, were wonderful hosts. The rooms were large and comfortable. There were many choices for breakfast, and all were served with a smile from Frank and s rub against the ankle from Blanca. Frank also gave us a lot of tips for restaurants and ways to navigate the city. The neighborhood is also very quiet and perfect for sleeping. I can't think of a thing.

Our room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Hygiene is extremely important to us, and the level of cleanliness exceeded our expectations. We were able to relax in a quiet and peaceful environment. This is definitely a place we would choose again for our next trip. Thank you for everything!

• Gozde (10/5): excellent - The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the city center, there are big markets and cafes around it. The room we stayed in is spacious and comfortable on the first floor, it has a balcony, the heaters were on in the evening, we did not get cold, the bathroom is big enough, hot water usage is very good. There is also a refrigerator in the room. You have breakfast in the shared kitchen in the hostel, the manager Frank is extremely attentive, sincere and cheerful. If we were to come again, we would definitely stay in the same place.

• Vasileios (9/5): Superb - Well located in Joordan area of the city , an upcoming area with lots of nice options ( cafes , restaurants , wine bars , bakeries ) and reasonable distance to most of the central part of Amsterdam and its main attractions. Spacious room , nicely decorated and really clean. Breakfast on a self service basis on the adjacent kitchen which is equipped with all the basic stuff and overlooks a nice alley. The owner is really welcoming and helpful and will do his best to make your stay as comfy as possible. No negative points. Everything was nice and as expected.

• Casey (8/5): Clean B&B in an easy to get to location, hosts happy to help with any questions if you are new to the city! - Very clean property, and easy to get to and from the city centre. The area was quiet on the evenings too and had a supermarket a couple doors down which was quite handy. We also had a balcony which was a nice touch. The room we were in was adjacent to the kitchen which meant if there was anyone in the kitchen you could hear everything which isn’t great if you fancy a lie in on holiday. If you have mobility issues, definitely check you’re in the ground floor room as the stairs are very steep. We had everything we needed in the room, towels, hand wash, hair dryer, but it would be great if shower gel or even some kind of shampoo & conditioner was stocked in the bathroom.

Lovely feel to the house and made more than welcome. 5mins from Anne Frank museum and walking distance to rijkmuseum, Voldenpark, red light district (you've just gotta experience it...but during the day) , dam square etc. Next door to the B&B is a fab toy shop with genuinely good old fashioned toys, wooden and tin as well as lovely wee gifts. Lovely eateries and would recommend bunbun on the corner for a morning pastry. Nothing of concern at all. Steep steps if someone struggles on the stairs. You need to access the kitchen using the stairs but there is a bedroom downstairs.
• Shash (10/5): Star accommodation - Large bedroom with Super-king size bed (convertible to 2 singles), chairs, tables and cupboards. Door onto small balcony with table and chairs looking out onto peaceful gardens. Kitchen next door with unlimited access for tea/coffee and breakfast (no set time for the latter) Bathroom clean and modern with great shower. Room was very quiet - couldn't hear traffic at all, curtains blocked light well and bed very comfy so a good sleep assured. Host lives upstairs and is on hand to provide any help required and is very friendly too. Steep stairs to first floor - but typical of Amsterdam houses.

• Gary (9/5): A Quiet base in a busy city - Frank is the perfect host, there with help and advice when you needed it but let's you do your own think when want to just potter about. The B&B was like a home from home and located in a quiet small street off the main route but just a minute from local restaurants and supermarkets. The main Damrak road is about 10 minutes walk by crossing the 3 canals and the train station is around 15-20 walk. Once you get your bearings this is a great area to stay in and explore even though its a little distance from the main route if you are after trams or the metro system. I would definitely recommend this venue for people coming to the city. Nothing comes to mind

He gave us lots of tips of places to visit. Delicious breakfast every morning and plenty of food available/lots of options. Loved meeting his cat and friend's dog too which were added bonus as we love animals. He has two rooms which we had both since two couples in the party. Rooms en suite and very spacious, lovely big beds that were so comfortable to sleep in and bonus of a fridge in the rooms. Very close to Anne Frank House Museum and not too far to central station. Plenty of bars and restaurants near by also. Not applicable!

• Amanda (10/5): Fabulous B&B, host and stay. - We absolutely loved everything about this Bed & Breakfast. It was in an excellent area, with lots of great restaurants and bars nearby. We had the ground floor large bedroom with patio doors out to a sweet little garden and we were lucky enough to get some lovely weather and were able to sit out and enjoy a couple of drinks in the sun and just relax from all the walking we had done. The host Frank was so lovely and we very much enjoyed talking to him each morning while having a tasty breakfast. He also helped to make my birthday more special by warming up some delicious pancakes, putting a flaming fountain candle in it and singing Happy Birthday to me. He also recommended a great Thai restaurant which is just round the corner from the B&B where we had a fantastic meal. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. Nothing.

• Gina (10/5): Mini break! - The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. My friend and I came for a mini break and we couldn't have picked better. Frank allowed us to check in early and gave us lots of advice. He also looked after our bags on our departure day. The bed and breakfast had a lovely little kitchen on the first floor that was accessible 24 hrs a day. Frank was there to meet us for breakfast, and everything was provided for. It was in a lovely quiet spot close to the canals and only ten minutes to the central station. Do not take a taxi as they rip you off! Trams and trains very cheap and accessible. Nothing, but the weather could have been a little better but did not spoil our stay.

There are two supermarkets around the corner and many restaurants nearby. Frank was a very nice host, the room was nice, clean and the bed comfortable. Wifi was good. We had to cook breakfast ourselves :( The basic ingredients were supplied by the host, unfortunately there were no vegetables, butter (only margarine), there was not a very large selection of pastries (toast bread and sweet buns) and cereals, only bananas were available for fruit. The coffee was only dripped, but it was sufficient. The kitchen lacked the classic pan and wooden spoon. The pan finally appeared there on the last day - shame. In the bathroom, the shower corner was separated only by a shower curtain, unfortunately there was no partition on the floor, i.e. all the water flowed all over the bathroom - this was quite unpleasant.
