Guest Reviews
- Zajicek (9/5): - Great vibe and breakfast, kitchen was nice to use
- Suzette L (9/5): This is a great stay. - Xemenia was so helpful. Found us a dentist and arranged our transportation to our next locations. The room was clean and comfortable. Nothing.
- Dr. Klaus (10/5): Traumhaft schöne Unterkunft unweit der schönen Strände - Sehr schön eingerichtet. Ruhige Lage. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Die Vermieterin Ximenia ist so herzlich und gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit.
- Adrian (9/5): Muy confortable - Si La ducha un poco pequeña
- Carina (10/5): Herzliche Gastgeber - Herzlicher Empfang und Gastgeber - man hat sich sofort wie zuhause gefühlt
Toll ausgestattete Outdoor-Kitchen

- Edwin (10/5): Pura Vida is not just a slogan. It’s a reality. Thanks to the people of Costa Rica. - Ximena and the property owners were excellent. They responded quickly and kindly to any request, and did their very best to make us feel at home. Everything was great, but the breakfast was a little unimaginative. A little more variety would be the only way they could score 11 out of 10!
- Andrea (10/5): - Ximena, Dahlia and the owners Gerard and Char went over and beyond to make us feel comfortable, book adventures and help plan our trip. It was the best stay. The food was excellent, beautiful property and I felt like family. I highly recommend
- Guimont-Montpetit (9/5): -
- Rajesh (10/5): Excellent value for a cute little place with wonderful staff - Cute little B&B, a short walk to the beach and nice restaurants. Ximena, Charlene, and Gerard we’re fantastic hosts Nada!
- Ben (10/5): - the hosts, Ximena and staff were great we hope to get back soon!! Love the outdoor kitchen treehouse-like common space. Close to great beaches and restaurants, and a well stocked supermarket nearby.
- Mary Alice (10/5): Enjoyable lodge! - The manager (owner?) was on site a lot, and was super helpful and friendly. The four of us very much enjoyed the casual, welcoming, at-home ambience. The pool was no more than a plunge pool.
- Passero (10/5): - Very relaxing place. Easy walk to the beach and local restaurants and stores. The staff and owners were very accommodating, couldn't ask for better. The local people are very friendly and helpful. Was an awesome experience all around. Would definitely do it again. I have no complaints.
- Tracy (6/5): Location worked well for our first visit to Costa Rica, the beaches were beautiful. - Location was close to store, restaurants, and beaches. Location could be noisy at night, not for light sleeper. Bed and pillows in need of replacing. Not much variety for breakfast.
- Alain (9/5): Super sejour - Super sejour tres bien situe à 10 mn de la magnifique plage Conchal .Ximina très à l ecoute et personnel tres souriant et agreable. Logement tres sympa
- Stefano (10/5): Great option in Brasilito - Very welcoming and friendly staff, really spacious and comfortable room, nice pets walking around
- Kelly (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay, friendly staff so willing to help. - Loved the small boutique hotel feel.
It was great to be able to access a small kitchen to prepare snacks and make coffee or tea when we liked.
Staff team assisted with arranging transportation and booking excursions. More frequent cleaning option for bathrooms
- Andrea (10/5): A home from home. A wonderful end to our holiday. - Beautiful house, very comfortable. Loved the location. Brasilito had a chilled vibe and we spent time on all 3 nearby beaches, which all had their own charm. Also great location for turtles. Ximena was also a great host. The dogs were super friendly too Nothing
- Carlos René (8/5): Tranquilidad - Las habitaciones y la forma como esta conformado el hotel N/A

- Rachel (10/5): Jorge was delightful and the staff was so helpful! If we come back to the area, we will stay again! - The location was perfect-just a few blocks from the beach and coffee shop, right next door to a supermarket, and a fabulous restaurant on the other side! Breakfast was delicious and right on time every day! Our stay honestly could not have been better. 5 stars!
- Bridget (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Allison (10/5): Exceptional - Incredibly kind and welcoming staff. Very comfortable bed. Cute hotel. Would come back again.
- Nicole (9/5): Overall an excellent stay with incredible host. - The host was very present and helpful. The location was perfect. The common area could get loud and sound traveled into my room.
- Nellie (10/5): Lovely place to stay for 4 days. Lots of little extras - Amazing hospitality Nothing
- Steven (7/5): A very affordable bed and breakfast. A great central location in Brasilito. - We enjoyed the small setting of the bed and breakfast. It was very informal and it was fun to have conversations with the staff and the other guests. It was close the many different beaches that we enjoyed. We ate at restaurants where the locals would eat as well as the fancier places meant for the tourists. We never had a bad meal all week. I wish the mattress was better.
- Jerry (10/5): Magical setting in Brasilito walking distance to brasilitoand Conchal beaches. - Beautiful surroundings walking distance to beach and restaurants. Plenty of outside space for guests to spread out and find privacy. Great breakfast. Ximena and her staff were very welcoming and ready to assist with any questions. You can hear across walks of each unit but guests were very respectful while i was there for a week.
- Arce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lilian (9/5): Superb -
- Boris (10/5): All was perfect. - All was perfect. All was perfect.

- Hugh (10/5): Fabulous owners and fabulous hostesses. It feels like home from home. - It’s clean, comfortable and has the best owners and staff in Brasilito. The transformation of this property is stunning. It’s a quiet little gem just off the main road. It’s comfortable and quirky. The owners and the hostess bring this place to life. I travel extensively and it’s very seldom you get such personalized service. We loved our stay because we were given such personalized treatment. If I ever return to Brasilto, I’ll return to Quinta Esencia. The location is not perfect but it actually adds to the charm.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb - Ximena is Hostess Extraordinaire. She made our every moment at the B&B superb. She is so much more than a hostess. She makes the place. We also loved being slightly removed from the exclusivity of the surrounding developing coastal communities to the north and south of Brasilito. Thank you so much Ximena!
- Mauricio (10/5): Would stay there in a heart beat - Great location, near to a supermarket, walk distance to restaurants, and more importantly to the beach Everything was just perfect
- Diana (9/5): Amazing! - We had a wonderful stay at Quinta Esencia! The place is simply beautiful, especially the terrace and the common kitchen. The room was clean and the breakfasts super tasty! The owners are fantastic people.
- Sasa (10/5): Ximena and Maurizio are simply the best hosts ever - People, ximena and Maurizio were amazing, helpful, friendly... The hill leading up to the house needs to be covered in asphalt, my tinny rental car had a little bit of problems
- Linda (8/5): we did enjoy the B&B - Management was super friendly and ready too help, close to small town & beach! for cost of the room the plunge pool was not up to par, we had a room next to a couple & a baby that woke us up every morning by 6:00am!
- Rachel (10/5): Our family had a great time, and the staff was so kind and accommodating to our 8 month old! - We loved the convenient location, and everyone there could not have been nicer. Breakfast was delicious, and we so appreciate that they went out of their way to also make a breakfast for our 8 month old. The room was clean and quiet too! The hotel provided a tent and wagon for us to take what we needed down to the beach, and we had an absolute blast.
- Illia (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (10/5): We were taken very good care of. - Gerard and Charlene are wonderful. They were very accommodating and made us feel at home. Nothing. Great value for the money.
- Elena (9/5): Lovely BnB in quiet Brasilito town and playa Conchal is only a short hike away! - We enjoyed a lot our stay, the BnB is very nice and the breakfast with fresh fruit is fantastic! The location is great if you look for a less touristic spot. A bit difficult to get there without a car but there are a couple of restaurant at walking distance so you don't need to drive at night. A big plus is the proximity to playa conchal, so you skip the long line for parking. A bit pricey for Costa Rica but still worth it.
- Mary (8/5): Very good - FULL Breakfast was listed at the booking, but NOT AVAILABLE
- Charlotte (9/5): Loved our stay at this welcoming B&B - Cute little B&B situated perfectly to explore the nearby beaches and restaurants. Breakfast was nice with fruit, toast and coffee. Room was spacious with a large comfy bed. Small pool and communal space were a nice addition. Huge thanks to the very friendly lady that runs the place who let us leave our luggage in a safe place and shower after we checked out. We felt welcome here and didn't want to leave! The curtains didn't block out sunlight in the morning but it genuinely didn't bother us
- Eugenia (9/5): Great stay! Would come again. - The breakfast was delicious! Fresh fruit, toast, and coffee was prepared every morning. Simena was very helpful! She helped us find a surfing lesson for us, provided restaurant recommendations, and created a happy environment. The bed and breakfast is clean, rustic, and walking distance to Brasilito and Playa Conchal. You can use the kitchen area as well to cook meals. The dogs are also super cute.
- Albert (10/5): Exceptional - Well located, close to the spectacularly beautiful beach, superb staff, exceptional services, clean and comfortable room, use of the common area for relaxation, work and cooking meals. Very rrasonble cost/night. We will return again. High cost of dinner for 2 in local restaurants, $110-$150. Maria assisted us to grill meats to eat meals at the Quinta to reduce the cost of eating out. Staff trally supported our neefs.
- Melissa (9/5): Thanks Quinta Esencia to have us and to take care of us. Such a great hosts - It is a really nice place to enjoy a peaceful stay. I recommend to stay here and have a car to move to another beaches
- Kristine (8/5): A really nice place to base yourself but plan to drive to other beach areas. - Very nice room. Community area is great. You can prepare your own food if you want. Host was very nice and helpful. Somewhat noisy location with dogs and cars, but accommodations are great. Brasalito Beach and town are not the greatest but close to others.
- Mate (9/5): Superb - We had a nice stay at Quinta Esencia. This is a small (new) private hotel, which has a lot to offer.
Pros:
- Big comfy beds (hard mattress but very comfy)
- Breakfast was very nice
- Communication with a host was great she will try to show you around and give you some tips. We were talking with her about diffusor and next day she gave us one for the night to try some new oils.
- Parking is there for you car (inside a fence)
- There is a small shared kitchen outside of the rooms
- Dogs and Cats Cons:
- Rooms are not soundproof (if the person next door or on a terrace is talking you can hear everything)
- There is a safe in the wardrobe but I think it is useless since you can carry it around.
- P (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely little oasis in the trees. Nice breakfast and can use kitchen to make meals. Fridge in room. Staff super helpful with recommendations, directions etc....
- Katie (10/5): I will be back again soon!! - One of the most wonderful trips ever!! Ximena made me feel like family!! She is an absolute gem and always made me laugh! When I had to leave, I actually cried the night before and also in the morning when I was leaving and hugging goodbye because I was going to miss everything - from Ximena greeting me with her delicious plates of fresh fruit each morning, sweet Ruby and Bella (dogs) keeping me company each evening out on the terrace, Botas the cat coming around to say hello, the rooster outside in the yard behind our rooms serving as my early-morning alarm clock a few times (that was actually funny!), and my favorite of all - the sweet little bird in the tree each morning singing, “Beeeeeeeeep!” ☺️
The property sits on a hill and the rooms (there are four) are built up in a treetop-style loft. There is a spacious outdoor community-style kitchen where you can cook your own meals if you’re on a budget or don’t feel like going out to eat every night. There is a supermarket and pharmacy right next door. There is a large terrace outside of the rooms with tables where you can sit, relax, enjoy breakfast, or read a book to unwind after a day at the beach. The rooms are spacious with a minibar and a wooden armoire to place your belongings. Beach towels are graciously provided.
I absolutely loved this place! I did NOT want to leave - ever. Also, it’s a ten minute walk to Brasilito beach and a twenty minute walk to Playa Conchal, one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever visit.
Ximena, muchas gracias por todo y te volveré a ver pronto, amiga mió!! ☺️☺️ The only thing that was a bit tough was that the shower-head holder in my bathroom needed to be fixed/glued to stay in place. The fixture where you place the shower-head into the holder on the wall was not secure so once the shower head was placed back in the holder, it would tilt down and all the way back towards the wall. I had to get creative and roll up a washcloth to prop up behind the shower-head line so the shower-head would stay at a 60 degree angle, and it worked fine.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - The Host was very very friendly and helpful! We felt like being at home with friends.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - we had fabulouse stay. very friendly, super comfort and great location.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bradley (10/5): great place. even better staff!!! - the staff is amazing. so so friendly and inviting.
- Katarzyna (10/5): Relax, nature, fun, monkeys, beach - beautiful, welcoming, relaxing setting prepared by amazing host. it was wonderful when first morning monkeys woke us up. Very nice and comfortable beds. less then 5 min walk to the beach. we loved it I hope we will be able to come back n/a
- Mark (8/5): Very good - great atmosphere. friendly staff.
- Nelson (10/5): Exceeded my expectations and will highly recommend to anyone in the area - The breakfast prepared by the staff was excellent! It was great to wake up and have coffee and breakfast (with amazing fruit!) ready. The staff was wonderful to chat with and one of the best parts of my trip to the country.
- Verena (8/5): Very welcoming B&B close to the beach - Clean room, big comfortable bed, very nice owner, tasty fruits for breakfast Value for money
- Angela (9/5): My vacation in Costa Rica - It's built around a tree and the hardwood floor was nice. The manager showed me around and showed me around the area. She also took me with her to like games and she introduced me to the people that she knew so it was a really nice visit and I felt at home. What I didn't like is where it was located it was two blocks away from the beach which was great, the path you have to go up this kind of like rocky driveway to get to the place. The two dogs that the manager has were really nice dogs but they smelled really bad and they sat there and they begged while you were eating that I didn't like.
- Maxime (10/5): A must stay in this region ! - The location is great and the room was super clean and comfy. It was the best night in our 2 weeks in Costa Rica. The manager is a sweetheart and want you to have the nicest stay. New beds, beach towels, fridge, breakfast, near the beach and corner store... everything is there.
I had the chance to chat with the owners about their story and they are really good people ! Next time I’ll stay longer for sure ! nothing really !
- Manuel (7/5): Detachment from the rat race at a place that felt like home. - Our hostess Ximena was super. She prepped us a tasty fruit and toast breakfast every day, helped us book tours and transport. We felt at home and among family. The use of the kitchen area is convenient. The hotel is a few meters away from a Pharmacy and a Supermarket which helps.
The location is great, walk to conchal and a short ride to flamingo and Potrero. All these things make up for the relatively low upkeep and comfort. The mattress was OKish and the bed was super freaky. These days a latex mattress can make a stay much more enjoyable. A solid mattress is one thing I expect in a hote. General upkeep is needed on the grounds. It's a family run B&B so I didn't have super high expectations. We could hear even normal volume conversations as the rooms are close to the dining area, the door isn't sealed and the windows are thin. It didn't really bother m
e but it could be a thing for light/early sleepers or late risers. It depends on how noisy or quiet the other guests are. We were lucky
- Pearson (10/5): Beautiful & Peaceful stay - Such a wonderful experience with everyone so very friendly. I loved all the wood in the room and also I thought the outside area to sit was wonderful. Fruit in the morning was delicious
- Devonna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julio (10/5): Beautiful place to stay in Brasilito - You feel like you are staying with relatives. Ximena, the manager, is a great host.
- Herta (10/5): Exceptional - It is a wonderful place. We went in September so there were less tourists. The city itself is fantastic, the beaches are beautiful. We enjoyed our stay in Quinta Esencia with the nicest staff in Costa Rica. The breakfast was great, the location is really good and the decoration is just perfect. They also put up some decoration for our honeymoon. We liked everything.
