I showed up at the designated time and they were not aware of my booking (therefore a room wasn’t ready). Better communication is required. They promptly readied a room and I went to run my errands. Steps were a bit icy, could use some salt.

Es gab kein Frühstück mehr obwohl es gebucht wurde. Das hat uns morgens doch einiges an Zeit gekostet. Das Geld haben wir allerdings zurückerhalten. Aufgrund der damaligen Dürreperiode war auch das Waschen problematisch. Hier hätten wir uns vorab Informationen gewünscht.

Sehr groß! - Ansprechend großes Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung Wohnzimmer und Küche wohl nutzbar, aber nicht in Anspruch genommen Frisches Bett und Handtücher. War echt alles sauber 1. Badezimmer auf der anderen Seite des Hauses - wtf 2. Es war bis nach Mitternacht immer mal wieder laut (durch die Eigentümer) und gell vom Flur 3. Das mittlere Zimmer (insgesamt 3) hat das Badezimmer auf dem Flur und ca. alle 30 min wurde es genutzt.... Natürlich quietschen die Türen... 4. Dachfenster ohne Verdunklung 5. Etwas unfamiliär - Gastgeber nie angetroffen für Fragen etc. 6. Frühstück gibt es keines mehr aus gesundheitlichen Gründen

• Lee (10/5): - We stayed in a king room and it was huge with nice high ceilings and a big ensuite. I think is the room in the first photo. The house was beautiful and so many amenities. I had the best sleep of my entire trip there. Unfortunately we couldn't stay a second night because the room wasn't available. We definitely would stay again.
• JapanKat (9/5): Comfortable for just one night - The location was close to Sydney, but outside, so it had fun countryside vibes. The room was clean and had a small fridge, coffee maker, and other amenities. Overall, it was comfortable. The bathroom was on the other side of the house, though it was private. It wouldn't be as easy to stay here longer than a couple of nights unless you don't mind the feeling of living in someone's house. Also, there was no prior warning until we got there and asked, but breakfast was not available. I think they should update the booking, or at least send a message beforehand to let people know so they can plan around that.
• Tina (9/5): Highly recommend, will definitely stay again! - This charming B&B was simply delightful. The hosts are very welcoming and the whole atmosphere is true to the name “back home” The property and house are beautiful and wonderfully decorated. The bedroom cozy and comfortable. If you have the chance try their wine - its quite good. Unfortunately the owner was recently injured so there was no breakfast but she kindly adjusted the price. Plus she recommended a great breakfast diner called “Just in Thyme” which made delicious homemade food.
• Deborah (8/5): A nice place to sleep but hosts needs to communicate with their future guests if they can’t meet the requirements of a B - The property was beautiful and comfortable but due to an illness of the host, breakfast was not available. This was only communicated to us when we arrived at the bed and breakfast. It would have been nice to know this before hand so we could have made other plans if we wanted to. We were told we would receive a refund for the breakfast portion but first we had to request a refund by emailing or calling the host’s husband. It took 5 days for a refund to be issued and again there was no communication. The refund just appeared in my account. Lack of communication
• Cynthia (8/5): Comfortable Stay with Great Breakfast - Back Home B&B offered a clean, well-appointed room with friendly and attentive hosts. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. We met a delightful couple at breakfast and had a great chat. A couple of notes: the property does have cats inside the house, and while a private bathroom was provided, it was located down the hall and across the living room rather than being attached to the room.

It would have been so much more considerate had the host advised us at the time of bo - It was very clean, bed was comfortable and linens were lovely. We arrived in the evening and the host greeted us with what she called a couple of things we may be disappointed with. The first being that she no longer provides breakfast due to a health issue and she will refund the breakfast value. The second was that the room she assigned to us had a private bathroom but it was at the other end of the house. She then said if we wished to cancel, she would refund our stay. She showed us the room which was very clean and comfortable with a couple of fans running to keep the room cool. We opted to stay as it was already 8 pm and we had been travelling all day. She showed us how to operate the coffee maker in the room, how to request the breakfast refund and said that she would bring water to the room. We brought our bags in and she had disappeared. She never did bring any water. During the night, a breaker flipped which caused both of the fans to stop and the coffee maker had no power in the morning. We left in the morning with virtually no contact with the host.

La nôtre avait une salle de bain privative mais dans le couloir. Parking facile. Située à 40mn de la forteresse de Louisbourg , et à 15 mn de Sydney . Pas eu la chance d'apprécier le petit déjeuner qui nous a été remboursé . Nous souhaitons bon rétablissement à la propriétaire. maison "fantôme", accueil ultra rapide et minimal par un adolescent , jamais rencontré la propriétaire qui avait une migraine et qui a annulé le petit déjeuner ( 2 jours de suite avec des visiteurs différents ) . Elle a remboursé , mais comme le b&b est loin de tout ce n'etait pas simple d'aller acheter à manger et revenir. Pourtant le réfrigérateur était plein , cela aurait été tellement facile de nous dire de nous servir ! nous aurions préféré lui laisser l'argent et nous débrouiller. dommage .

• Mark (10/5): This B&B had a great host, great place, and great food. - It had lots of animals and good farmland that was very relaxing. I loved the horses, (Lucy and Bear) and the cats. The living area and bedroom were very cozy, well decorated and well organized. The breakfast was amazing, eggs bacon, homemade bread for toast and fruit. Delores was amazing and very friendly and she joined us at breakfast. An overall 5 star experience. It was a short distance from town, but otherwise an amazing stay.
• Elaine (10/5): - Best B and B ever! We've stayed in numerous across Canada. This house is spacious, beautifully decorated, pristine and clean. The breakfast was generous and delicious. Guest rooms are very comfortable, and we were provided with plush house robes, a mini fridge with water and Gatorade, a coffee maker, coffee pods, coffee cream, tea, and snacks. There is a small table for two with plates, utensils and wine glasses, and a generous variety of toiletteries in the bathroom, including a care package with deodorant, razors, and other products. To top it off, Dolores our hostess, was so kind and thoughtful. She cares for two senior horses and three lovely cats. She brought out apples and treats and let me feed the horses. What a beautiful experience. Thank you Dolores! We loved everything about our experience!

Enjoyed having the coffee maker in our room and also the lovely bottle of wine which came with our booking. Breakfast was different both mornings we were there. Delicious and generous portions, we didn't need to eat lunch after! The place was spotless and we felt right at home. Would stay there again! We would probably choose one of the other rooms which would be a bit more spacious and the bathroom would be in the room. We stayed in the Tartan room and the bathroom was out the door and around the corner.

• Karin (7/5): Sehr enttäuscht, denn Frühstück gibt es nur um 9 Uhr! - Schönes Zimmer mit großem Bad, bequemes Bett Ich hatte die Unterkunft hauptsächlich wegen des sehr gelobten Frühstücks gebucht. Leider konnten wir dieses nicht bekommen, weil wir um 9 Uhr zur Fähre mussten und das Frühstück nur um 9 Uhr serviert wird. Wir haben gefragt, ob es auch früher geht, aber das war leider nicht möglich. Nicht einmal etwas Kleineres oder etwas zum Mitnehmen wurde uns nichts angeboten. Bei der Fähre gäbe es Restaurants, wurde uns gesagt :-( Wäre dies uns in der ausführlichen Infomail direkt nach der Buchung mitgeteilt worden, hätten wir noch die Möglichkeit zum Stornieren gehabt!

• Judith (10/5): Very nice stay. Would go back anytime. - The owner keeps it exceptionally clean. The location was great. There was a lot if attention to little details that made a big difference. The bathroom was not ensuite, but it was very close by.
• L. (10/5): Wonderful stay - The space was beautiful, comfortable, had everything we needed and more. Each morning we were provided with a (huge, hardy) fantastic breakfast, made with personal touches (homemade jams, for example). I was still craving the French Toast three days later. The hostess was as sweet as can be, and regaled us with wonderful stories about life in Novia Scotia (and Saskatchewan). Her son, who checked us in, was very friendly and helpful (giving tips on where to hike) as well. Than you, Dolores, for a very nice stay!
• Beryl (8/5): Beautiful house and very comfortable stay in the Clipper room. - We had booked breakfast, but sadly the hostess was ill and could not make it for us. However, she refunded us the cost for this. The room (Clipper) was amazing - large and very comfortable with a huge luxurious en-suite bathroom stocked with soaps, shampoos and extra bathroom items if needed. The noise from one of the other guests who was on the telephone, VERY loudly and opening and closing doors (no en-suite in the other rooms) was disturbing.

• Ryking (9/5): This was a tremendously welcoming place with everything provided for a comfortable stay. - Very comfortable place with extensive facilities. There was fresh milk and soft drinks and a bottle of wine in a fridge, a coffee machine and even plates and cutlery in each bedroom. There was also a welcome pack with toothbrushes, tooth paste, shaving cream and even a woolly hat. There was also trays of sweets everywhere. There was only one thing that stopped this place being perfect. We had booked two rooms with a private bathroom each. One bathroom was next door to the bedroom but the second one was down a corridor and across the kitchen to another corridor. This was inconvenient as you were walking through public spaces.

Beautiful jet tub big enough for 2 people, soft robes (even a robe warmer in the bathroom!), snacks, drinks....everything we could have hoped for and more 😊 Unfortunately we were unable to stay for breakfast due to an early hospital appointment. We would highly recommend this lovely bed and breakfast, and we are hoping to stay there again in the future!

While our Booking.com confirmation said it was included, no free breakfast was offered Our booking also said that the host offered visitors a complimentary bottle of wine but none was. Visitors are not allowed to wear shoes in the house.

• April (10/5): First time ever visiting Cape Breton while visiting the east coast, by far this is the best place I have ever stayed. T - Property very well kept, clean and tidy, comfortable Our room was large, comfortable and tasteful

No air conditioning made the rooms a little warm but fans were available to make things comfortable

• Young (9/5): We arrived late afternoon and left the following morning around 8:30. Was quiet and comfortable. - Perfect for a one nighter. Clean and comfortable. I give the room and the host a thumbs up. It was literally a bed room in a residence. The host lives in the basement. They were very respective of our privacy. This was a fine and well kept residence but I think we prefer a separate unit like a cottage or condo if we were planning a longer stay.
