- Liat B (8/5): Lovely guest house with beautiful views. - I was lovely and well located for the event we were attending. Things were a bit disorganised when we arrived. The staff werent sure which rooms we were in. The names of the rooms on booking.com were different to the names the staff were using. We also didnt have any hand towels in our room which we only realised when we go home from our event at midnight. Also, we booked deluxe double rooms and thought theee would all have an en suite bathroom. Maybe this could be a bit more clear although looking back i see this in some notes on the site.

Just difficult to find the property the google maps will take you further up the road.

- Deon (9/5): Absolute stunning - A most beautiful and historic property with a charming atmosphere, situated in a lovely neighbourhood. The owner, Gina, and her staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always available to assist. We stayed in one of the mountain-view units, which offered absolutely magnificent views over the northern suburbs of the city. The trees and gardens created a tranquil and peaceful ambience — a pity we only stayed for one night. Our unit provided all the amenities one would need in a self-catering unit. It was spacious, tastefully decorated, and the bathroom was practical and newly refurbished. Everything was spotless, the Wi-Fi was fast, and security was excellent. The mountain units do require climbing quite a few steps, so they are best suited to guests who are reasonably fit and travelling with lighter luggage. That said, the views were absolutely lovely and well worth it. We will most definitely return, although next time we will likely book a room in the main house or coach house, as these offer easier access without the steps. All the rooms — whether in the main house, coach house, or mountain units — are beautifully decorated, and we look forward to returning for a longer stay in order to fully appreciate the wonderfully preserved historical interiors. We had a truly fabulous stay. Nothing.

I like that check in n check out times are early and late. We got to sleep in and have some expreso. The mountain view is beautiful. The staff is great. Electric blanket was helpful.Clean,facilities aee all there n functional. That the house number is not noticeable so its easily missed especially when you coming up the hill

She and her staff create a relaxing vibe where all guests feel like old friends. The view is fantastic, the architecture alone makes it worth a visit to take a step back into Joburg's history.

- Natalia (10/5): Truly unique! - I loved everything about The Great Gatsby, from the magical interior design and beautiful surroundings to the lovely host, Gina, who made me feel right at home. I've never stayed in a place that made me want to return so badly.
- Dian (10/5): - The host was extremely friendly and welcoming, rooms were beautiful, definitely something to experience. I prefer having a fridge in the room, I understand it doesn’t fit the aesthetic, but fridges could be hidden.
- Daniela (10/5): Stunning place - Honestly by far one of the most stunning places I've stayed in. I can't even begin to describe it, but even if I sadly didn't get to explore Joburg since it was a short stopover, just flying in to stay here for a night was worth it. Also Gina and Ricardo were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond. Furthermore the place was extremely clean and they have an adorable pup greeting all the guests.

Gina was incredibly accommodating and made sure my family had plenty of space to feel at home. It’s a great spot if you enjoy a social atmosphere—there were often events organized on-site, so it's perfect for those who like meeting other guests and don't mind a bit of activity on the property.

- Clive (10/5): Superb - The overall setting is sublime, love the antique furniture, attention to detail as well as the hostess, Gina! All was top notch!
- Tessa (10/5): Like something from a fairytale - Gina surprised me with an upgrade to the library room and it was absolutely incredible (I even felt a bit like Belle). Everything is so beautifully decorated, the bed is SO comfortable, there are blankets to spare and it's the perfect spot to both relax and work. Pictures don't do it justice!

- Boipelo Tagane (9/5): Loved it!! - The Gatsby is a beautiful peaceful place. The decoration of the house feels like it's taking you back in time in the best way. The room I was in was beautiful, an artists dream. The only thing I didn't like so much was the inconvenience of not being able to make myself a coffee at any time of day since there are no kettles in the rooms. They do serve great coffee though upon request.

Once ins - A beautiful property perched on the highest part of Houghton with a magnificent view of Sandton and surrounding areas. The steps to one of the rooms which in turn end was a good workout on my legs!
