Guest Reviews
- Eckardt (10/5): Great atmospheric place! - Super gite Art Deco.
Very nice and helpful host!
Good connection with bus to Vieux Quebec
Very much recommended! -
- Pierre-Paul (10/5): Endroit chaleureux, maison presque centenaire, hôte bienveillant.
- Christian (10/5): - The best stay of our entire trip. The house is more than just a B&B, it's almost a museum of Art Deco. Even the single rooms have a theme that is followed down to the last detail.
Jean is the nicest host you can imagine. He is considerate, friendly and helpful, yet keeps to the background. He's as passionate a collector as a host.
Did I even mention the excellent breakfast, with daily variations?
- Marina (10/5): - Jean, notre hote, est très agréable et de bon conseil. La décoration années 20 est très originale. Le petit déjeuner était copieux et très bon.
- Branislav (10/5): Don't miss the chance to stay Aux Années Folles ! - We were truly surprised by the warm and generous welcome from Jean Daoust. Upon our arrival, we immediately engaged in a friendly conversation about the culture and history of Quebec.
His home is located slightly outside the city center, but conveniently close to a bus station that takes you directly downtown.
Breakfast was excellent and varied each day. The room was comfortable, and the Wi-Fi connection was reliable.
Jean was exceptionally kind—he lent me a raincoat and umbrella for a rainy cold sightseeing day. He also went out of his way to mail me a forgotten mobile phone while I was in Toronto and preparing to return to France.
I highly recommend his place! Truly, I have nothing but positive things to say about both Jean and his place.
- Cleiton Martins (9/5): - This is a lovely place with several convenience stores nearby. The breakfast was excellent and the host was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
- Siddhesh (10/5): Exceptional - The owner is a rare find in Quebec. Such a warm person and this heritage house with loads of vintage stuff. Feels like living in that era. Nothing.
- Bstae (7/5): visiting Quebec - Aux Années Folles is a B&B, the house itself, as the name says, is completely in the style of the roaring 20's.
The host Jean, is really helpfull in giving advice and guidance to get into the city. this takes about 20 minutes by bus and is by far the easiest way in and out of Quebec.
For those liking personal contact, breakfast in the livingroom, this is a place to go. the room itself was rather full with furniture, it was not easy to put suitcases open for accesibility
- Ke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darius (9/5): Overall, a great stay with Jean and his adorable husky; breakfast was top notch - Continental breakfast with lots of variety plus Jean, our lovely and highly-informative host, asked us every morning what we wanted to eat and adapted it to our taste. His furry friend, a husky named Oushki was also terribly CUTE and very disciplined. The place's decor is straight out of the 1920s as the name "Années folles" (Roaring Twenties) suggests and you feel almost as though you're sleeping in tiny museum :)
Amenities were good and you even had access to some essentials such as shampoo, medications (aspirin, etc.) and of course towels. Nothing bad comes to mind. Jean and Oushki were the perfect hosts. Only thing I would suggest to Jean is perhaps updating his brochures or (even better) sending his guests touristic info over Booking, as a way to save paper. Only thing in paper format that could be useful if there's no cell network are perhaps maps of the different attractions (if applicable).
- Wo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annie (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was a full AMAZING spread! Great location for videotron concert
- Edward (10/5): A great stay near all amenities. Great experience. Great presentation. - Breakfast, service , facilities, and provided extras for free of charge. A clean nice 1920's room/house. Gentleman who runs this B&B was very accommodating. Overall great experience. We had no complaints
- Ariana (9/5): Superb -
- Cindy (10/5): I really enjoyed my stay here. I would definitely stay again. I would recommend this place to others - The breakfast was amazing. The beds were very comfortable. It had an overall homey feeling. Host was very welcoming and friendly. It was in a great location where We felt safe to walk around and explore.
- Pascale (10/5): Great owner, delicious breakfast. - Very special decorated house. Nice and helpful person.
- Hugh (9/5): Superb -
- Megan (9/5): Superb - I was a solo traveler and chose this location for its proximity to the VideoTron. Aux Annees Folles was the perfect choice for me! I was met at arrival on the front porch with juice, fresh fruit, and cookies. The breakfasts were delicious— French toast, homemade jam, fresh fruit. The proprietor was so very helpful at recommending restaurants in the area and places to visit in town.
He was especially accommodating making me a breakfast to go when I needed to catch a train early and giving me Band-Aids and a lunch to go when I camped overnight to be right in front of my favorite band.
Do remember to bring cash as he doesn’t take credit. He made me feel at home and I highly recommend this B&B.
- Maureen (9/5): Just what we wanted! - We were looking for a very reasonably priced place to stay with our dog Ginger and Aux Années Folles was perfect for us! Jean greeted us upon arrival with nice plate of assorted cookies/light snacks. He made suggestions about what to see and provided map/brochures. There was free parking on the street. Ginger could stay in the room while we went out to dinner. Easy single bus ride to downtown. Shower had nice hot water and good pressure. Breakfast was wonderful. Jean kindly accommodated our eating preferences. Fresh local fruit, crepes one day, eggs and bacon the next. He even turned on the TV in the side room so we could watch the Canadian Open tennis once he learned we were fans. If we ever make it back to Quebec City, we'd stay again! There is no air conditioning if that is your preference. We enjoyed the fresh air from the window and used the fan in the room. It got sufficiently cool at night. Oushki, Jean's husky was calm and friendly with our dog, though does visit you upstairs so if you have dog treats or human treats, be certain to close the door to your room :)
