- Maddalena (7/5): I proprietari molto accoglienti e disponibili, bellissime attività offerte durante il soggiorno. Nel complesso un bel so - Personale molto accogliente e attività (animali, equitazione, canoa etc) Cattivo odore in camera
- jiancheng (8/5): -
- Herb (5/5): The couple running the place were very nice and did a great job with breakfast. - The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The ladies doing the trail Rides were very good and friendly. Didn’t realize we were sharing a building with a few
Other people and having our bathroom down the hall. The most disappointing issue was bedding had a sour smell which made it very difficult to sleep. Bed was comfortable but couldn’t ignore the odour from bedding. Windows looked like they hadn’t been washed in a few years. Place needs some serious maintenance and renovation.
- Christian (8/5): Fantastisch.

- Faye (10/5): Lovely couple of nights away from it all after touristy road trip! - Amazing tranquil place. 2 nights not enough. Simply stunning. Great breakfast too.
- Ilaria (10/5): - Incredible value for a beautiful property in front of a stunning lake. Canoes feee to use and horses roaming around. The owners are super nice and welcoming.
- Milena (8/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Bionda (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location
- James (10/5): Beautiful surroundings, friendly people, relaxed atmosphere and nice, comfy and cozy rooms - Everything was as we hoped for.
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional - Whilst only staying for one night we had a great time. The Thursday grill night was terrific and despite our novice horse riding experience the trail ride was a highlight
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful farm stay - We stayed two nights at the ranch and we had the best time! It's a beautiful place by the lake, with canoes and kayaks to use. Our son loved being around all the animals: dogs, cats, horses and had a great experience riding and taking care of a horse thanks to Valaury.
The hosts are the nicest people with great advice for visits and information about Canada's nature. The breakfast pancakes and eggs were delicious.
The room is basic but comfortable and very clean.
Thanks for the great stay! Everything was perfect and as expected.
- Nicolas (9/5): Superb -
- Lark (10/5): Beautiful and thankful and recommending to friends. - Peaceful and serene place with nature welcoming you at every turn. Our family needed this place. Nothing to say but it would be helpful that the fire pit water container didn’t have holes in it for putting out fire. The ping pong bats are needing replacement.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Martin and his family are the greatest hosts of all we ever met via Booking. The ranch (set in nice and calm place) provides a lot of possibilities. Not only the room and breakfast, but free canoeing/kayaking on the lake, horse riding when booked only an hour earlier, great pancakes with maple syrup by the owner who also gave us a lot of ideas how to spend the time on the ranch or in the surrounding. And before we left, the owner gave us fresh vegetables from his garden. We will never forget it, thank your Martin!
- Kenneth (9/5): Superb - Wilderness experience No major issues
- Kenneth (8/5): A magically peaceful place - Lakeside location
Free kayak use
Horses n pet dogs roaming free
Rescued young deer cute as could be is there at present.
Horseride availability (at reasonable extra charge)
Breakfast home cooked n good value (extra charge)
The silence is magical at this ranch. Common room area could do with a toilet available to guests
- Kazza (7/5): Stay here if you enjoy horseriding and beautiful views of the lake in basic accommodation. - The Wettstone ranch is located about 2km off the main road on a dirt track and situated right next to Henley Lake.
Its location is absolutely stunning. Here the pace of life slows right down (for the guests!). Martin, the Suiss host and his family own this ranch and are clearly passionate about their horses and growing vegetables.
We had a Lake View Lodge, which is a sort of semi-detached type situation with a view over the lake. A joy to wake up in the morning and see the bright stars at night. Oh and the sounds of the Loons.
We enjoyed horse-riding, kayaking, relaxing by the lodge and Thursday evening grill night hosted by Martin. We also drove to the nearby Icecaves, which was worth visiting. The facilities have not been updates since around the 80s I would guess. Everything sort of works but it's very old fashioned. The bedsheets were nylon and gave me electric shocks.
I also tripped on some uneven decking and fell flat on my face and cut my nose. It could have been worse. Hosts didn't seem overly concerned although they did apologise.
The bathroom has seen cleaner days and there was a smell of drains.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Beautiful and peaceful retreat in the countryside. The horses and othere small animals are just a bonus. - Situated by a lake, you can hear the loons in the morning and at night. The place is sooo quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was awesome, and the hosts were friendly and chatty. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. It is such a beautiful setting, from the lake to the daisies on the grass, to the horses and other small animals.
- Juliet (10/5): Amazing experience - highlight of our holiday - Incredibly nice and welcoming owners (especially Martin!). We were made to feel just like one of the family. Having the animals wandering around freely was amazing. Location incredible as right on the lake, so lovely views. We all had a great time using the free kayaks/canoes on the lake. Breakfast was generous portions. It was perfect - nothing we didn't like.
- Karolina (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful place, lovely hosts, delicious breakfast.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location
Possibilty to borrow canoes and kayaks for free
Small fridge in room
Animals roaming around Basic interior
Sulfur smell of tab water
- Matt (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Lovely ranch ,quitte and very nice staff. To short stay...
- Deborah (9/5): Guest ranch in a beautiful setting - Beautiful setting overlooking one of the lakes. It is a guest ranch so we were able to go horse riding which was great fun and really made our stay memorable. Great place for star gazing and lovely to lie in bed listening to the loons calling before drifting off to sleep. Next time I would book accommodation with ensuite facilities.
- Dimock (10/5): Exceptional - Right on the Lake was stunning. There were many animals roaming the property. The hosts were very welcoming, hospitable, and accommodating. Even though we didn't use them they had canoes, horseback riding, etc. Breakfast was wonderful for an additional charge and bagged lunches were available if going out for the day. Had just a bedroom and had to go out in a common area to use the private bathroom.
- Emilija (5/5): It felt more like an expensive hostel with barricaded common area kitchen... - The only saving grace were the animals; they really made the stay more enjoyable. I didn't appreciate that the common area kitchen was barricaded and guarded. I couldn't use the kitchen to microwave my food, and there was no drinkable water available for guests; we drove 48 km to 100 Mile House to buy some bottled water. Their tap water was murky and had a sulfur smell.
The biggest surprise was that everyone seemed taken aback when I didn't want to use the dusty and dirty coffee machine in the room to "boil" water. Simple requests like asking for spoons or boiling water each time in the guarded kitchen felt like a big deal. I've stayed in hundreds of Airbnbs, guesthouses, and B&Bs, but this guesthouse had a very strange atmosphere.
Additionally, we could constantly hear people walking at night along the common corridor, and there was no sensation of privacy. It felt more like an expensive hostel.
- Lynda (8/5): A very different sort of stay than usual. - Friendly, enjoyed looking at all the animals, kayaking and getting to meet the other guests for evening drinks on the back veranda. A completely different experience so unusual. I didn’t like having to leave the bedroom, cross the hall to get to the bathroom
- Wenda (8/5): Tranquil, calming, great place to watch the water and horses. - We loved the tranquillity. The cabin we stayed in was enough for the three of us. The kitchen which is the first room you enter into, was reasonably well stocked. It also had a table, bench and chairs. There is no cabin lounge room, however there is one in the main house which guests are welcome to use. Both bedrooms were sizable and offered comfortable beds. The water pressure in the shower was amazing!!
We were invited to wander at will around the ranch, and to enjoy the horses wandering about. We made a new friend in Macho the dog, who sat with us the first evening. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable. Our cabin overlooked the lake and offered us the silence and rest we craved after spending several weeks being busy tourists.
On the second night, we were invited to join the cook-out and were served delicious steaks.
Two of us took part in a trail ride and saw a young moose - a bucket list item. The trail leaders were exceptional. My (very nervous) daughter was guided with care and made to feel very much at ease. She thoroughly enjoyed every minute of her first ride.
We would definitely return if we are ever in Canada again. I found that the all in one sink/cooktop/fridge unit which was placed in the corner of the kitchen a bit restrictive, especially as the fridge was out of order and the door wouldn't close properly. A second fridge was provided, but the all in one unit was awkward to use. On saying that, though, it did its job.
- Hikingtraveller (7/5): Peaceful nature - It is soooo quiet and peaceful there. Lakeview. You only hear water and birds. Bbq you can use and picnic tables you can eat outside. The house/room has a nice patio.
Remember to bring your own food and drinks. The room and beds are quite basic.
- Marcel (7/5): Good -
- Jane (9/5): Very special - Beautiful location, lovely people, nice lake, lovely horse riding, good breakfast.
- Pierre (8/5): Nice ranch, worth staying a few days to get the lay of the land and relax -
- Barbara (10/5): Absolutely beautiful setting with wonderful animals. - We loved visiting with the animals especially with the horses and dogs wandering the property, but also the goats, chickens, cats, ducks. Gorgeous sunset - peaceful place on a peaceful lake with the loon calling and happy sounds of horses. We really enjoyed the canoe and kayak. Had fun with ping pong. There was a communal games, movie and library room. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean. Great sleep. Good breakfast. Horseback riding was wonderful. Enjoyed visiting the Ice caves trail nearby. We met some other guests around the property and everyone was friendly and happy. There are no restaurants or groceries nearby and checkin was at 6pm. We experienced an unfortunate delay on our way there so had to call and ask for extension to 7pm and didn't have a chance to stop for supper on the way.
- Luc (9/5): Superb - Great for children, animals everywhere
Kayaks and propanegrill Bathroom smells a bit
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay, quiet at the lake with lots of horses, dogs and cats. Canooeing and horseback riding were great experiences!! Breakfast was available and very good!
- Isabel (8/5): Everyone had a great time over the weekend. Thank You - The location was great, and having separate bathrooms in the Rustic Ranch House was wonderful!
- Ailsa (7/5): Amazing - We did not have breakfast, but we did really enjoy the BBQ night. The ranch had a beautiful relaxed, family friendly vibe. The whole Wettstone Ranch family made you feel very welcome. Nothing was a bother. The horse, dogs, cars & chickens all roaming about freely was brilliant. It was a joy to see my son so happy & relaxed with them. Had great fun playing table tennis. The horse trek was really super with Valerie.i would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a family friendly relaxed ranch. Accommodation just needs a wee freshen up,but monor in comparison to all the good points.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Quiet and nice to have the animals around. BBQ could use a good cleaning or at least the tools to do it yourself.
- Daniela (6/5): Pleasant - Location was great, quiet place and we had nice sleep. BBQ area should be more clean and equipped.
- Camille (10/5): Amazing stay! - Everything! horse ride, the family vibe, the canoe …
- Stephanie (9/5): I didn’t want to leave! - This is a working ranch with more than 30 horses plus goats, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats. The owner, Jason, greeted me warmly and told me the lay of the land. He said I was welcome to explore the property and take photos etc. This place is honestly my idea of heaven, clearly it wouldn’t suit everyone but I would happily have stayed for a long time (would they be able to get me to leave!?). The situation by the lake is breath-taking and there are two comfortable chairs down there on a wooden jetty where I sat in perfect silence. There are kayaks and life jackets to borrow so I guess sometimes it is noisy down there but that would be a terrific kind of noise; people enjoying themselves. There is a communal fire pit area where Jason made all the seats and benches; there are other communal areas and I guess this is the kind of place where you could easily make friends for life. There are games to play if you’re that way inclined and Jason’s son was a lovely chatty boy who asked me to play ping pong with him. There are bouncy muddy dogs, horses free to roam and a cat that sat on my shoulder like a parrot! I loved every minute of it and I slept like a log! My room was comfy and clean with a fridge and a coffee pot, the shower was good. Loved this place. (I did not go horse riding but you can, I was also told I was welcome to use the BBQ) I only stayed one night as I passed through !!
- David (7/5): Good -
- Patrick (7/5): Good - Spacious, quiet Bathroom on the other side of a common living room.
- Oksana (4/5): Disappointing -
- Eric (7/5): Nature, nature, nature 👍 - Warm welcome, excellent breakfast service in the morning, to be recommended for families that want to relax and/or do horse back riding, very pleasant stay embedded in a beautiful, quiet nature. Some miscommunication/understanding of whether dogs are allowed or not for the specific room we booked; generally booking.com description is: pet friendly (German: haustierfreundliche Unterkunft, Haustiere erlaubt), but the room was not to meant to allow dogs (if I understood it right, because of the proximity to kitchen/breakfast room). It would help customers to get a clearer instruction, if it would have been stated at the specific room we booked (which I could not see, sorry 🙏🙏). I was OK with the cleaning surcharge!
- Richard (8/5): great place to unwind and relax in nature. awesome night sky - unforgettable after an evening camp fire. - brilliant location overlooking lake - perfect for animal lovers. good wi fi in the lodge great communal space. lovely to have access to canoes. brilliant spot for family camp fire some cushions would have been nice on indoor seating
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional - Our experience at Wettstone was more than superb. We booked the lake chalet for 2 nights and had an excellent days of rest with the kids.
We were received by Diana and gave us a full tour and detailed explanation on how the ranch works. All the premises were clean and in pristine conditions. Have to say that the chalet was absolute great with views to the lake and comfortable facilities.
We also booked a horse ride for the kids and it turned out great for our two firstimers. The level of care and interaction with the animals was also a rewarding experience for our kids.
All the staff at the ranch was quite accessible and willing to help but our biggest surprise came when we, by our mistake, thought that we were staying one more night than we initially booked. When we realised of our mistake we arrived late to the ranch after a full day of activities outside and found out that they have moved carefully our things in crates so they could receive the next guests. We were very ashamed but both Martin and Diana talked with us and also arranged a place to stay in a hotel nearby! This was quite considerate from their side as we were 2 families with kids and it was late in the evening.
So overall we would rate them with a 10, not just for the lovely place which we absolutely recommend (in fact we thought we were staying one more night because of how great the stay was 😊) but for the kindness and attention they brought to us in every moment! Looking forward to go back to experience winter there!
- Allan (7/5): Nice place to stay in this scenic area. Great staff and location. -
- Dale (8/5): Very good - Loved the horse back riding, wide easy flat trails. The breakfasts were great. Our bathroom was down the hall, not in our room.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Lphanne1 (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely everything. The location was just wonderful. Peaceful and overlooking the lake. Just superb spot. Everyone was just so welcoming, such a lovely family and made our stay even better. Everyone took the time to chat with us. We attended their grill night and had just a great evening and the horses just roaming freely in front of our window was such a sight. We would definitely go back and stay for ages longer. We had a 4 hr horse trek which was brilliant and ran out of time to kayak on the lake. Maybe a slightly more comfortable bed but that's probably more personal to me as I have a lot of pain. But nothing else it was everything I had been imaging I wanted and got
- Kathrin (10/5): Best stay on our road trip through Canada - We had an extraordinary stay at Wettstone Ranch in the Chalet Lakeview. The hospitality of the hosts is exceptional, the location directly next to the lake is very tranquil and a lot of different activities are offered (horseback riding, kayaking, etc.).
Wettstone Ranch has even a charger for electronic cars should you need one.
- Tica (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place (ranch and surroundings)
Authentic
Great breakfast (not complimentary)
BBQ in the fire pit
Talking with staff and other guests
Having free access to canoes and kayaks
Great for families
- Giselle (9/5): Want to come back next year! - Breakfast was great.
The horse ride for kids first time was positive, relaxed, safe, and fun.
- Daria (8/5): Nature wonder away from it all - The location was fantastic. The lake and the view were serene and one has everything to get away from busy life to enjoy nature. We were surprised by many rules and limits. It would be great if owners send reminders about rules of checking in hours because of the remote property location it take a whole day to get there. The ceiling light in our room was too artificial but none of the 4 lamps would work. This are things to improve but otherwise it is a fantastic stay for a family with children or adults to get away from it all. They have horses and goats and other farm animals, lake, kayaks and beautiful hikes. Nature wonder. Room light was painful but none of the 4 lamps would work
6pm check in time is unrealistic for a remote property located 6 hour drive from the nearest city but the owners were nice to allow late check in
- Susanne (10/5): Exceptional - i liked the lake and the spacios common areas. reservation for my next stay at wettsone ranch is already made!
- Janet (8/5): Not fussy, very comfortable lodging. - I loved the hospitality of the hosts and the way they just left you to explore and take advantage of all the amenities they had: canoeing, swimming, biking, walking. The main house and communal deck is gorgeous, the cabins also look very cozy. We felt very comfortable and were not too worried about making a mess etc. It was a bit of a pain not having our own attached bathroom, we had to fill up coffee maker with the faucet in sink in the bathroom which was across the hall and not totally suitable for that purpose (ie; short faucet). There could be some updates made to property, it is a bit cluttered on the property and things are starting to show their age ie: bathroom, shower stall, vent in bathroom.
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
