The breakfasts were plentiful and varied, which was very much appreciated for a week-long stay. The location was perfectly situated for easy strolls into Gjirokaster’s Old Bazaar and beyond. Our hosts were very welcoming and made us feel like part of the family. We had a delightful stay here. Nothing bad to say.

• Esh (10/5): - This property is tucked high above Gjirokaster, within the old city walls. It is surrounded by beautiful cobblestone streets that give the entire area a romantic, timeless charm. It truly feels like stepping back in time. Although it can be a little difficult to find when driving up, the owner goes above and beyond to help guide you to the property. Once you arrive at the gates, he personally welcomes you, assists you inside, and even parks your car for you. He and his lovely family provide exceptional hospitality and make sure every need is taken care of throughout your stay. And the views are absolutely stunning. There’s nothing quite like sipping your morning coffee while overlooking the city below. You can even see the castle from the property, which makes the experience feel even more magical.

Tem acomodações que você precisa subir muito para chegar até a parte principal da cidade, o que não é o caso na Mele. 5 minutinhos e já estávamos na praça. A vista é linda do hotel e tomar o café da manhã fresquinho olhando as montanhas não tem preço. O dono foi MUITO legal com a gente, nos ajudou a g=chegar até a acomodação quando estávamos perdidos e o filho dele, Brian, também ao nos ajudar a sair da cidade para não nos perdermos novamente. O google maps não funciona muito bem para carro em Gjirokaster. O banheiro acaba ficando um pouco molhado após os banhos, mas nada que prejudique a hospedagem.

• Duc (10/5): Great place to stay in Gjirocaster - The guest house is in the old town close to everything we would like to visit, the bazzar is 5 minute walk, the castle take 15 minute walk. Ethno museum and Skendeli house is 2 min walk. Best of all it has a wonderfull view to the surrounding area and a swimming pool if you need to take a dip. Edmond is very helpful by sending a friend to pick us up from the bus station as well as take us to the bus station when we leave to Saranda. The breakfast is great and plenty, the traditional meal is also very tasty. Our regret is we did not book the room with the balcony view but we still very much enjoyed the view from the porch. • Clare (10/5): Spectacular guesthouse with exceptional location - I don't think there has ever been a guesthouse that I have ever stayed in that offered such a warm welcome and kindness that Edmond and his wife gave me. The location and food is the best in Gijrokaster. The homemade dinner was very good value for money and the swimming pool was very relaxing after a day exploring. I was even given a cake and flower on my birthday which was such a nice gesture I will never forget. Nothing

• Christina (10/5): - Edmond ist ein sehr guter Gastgeber. Am Anreisetag hatten wir ein Problem mit unserem Auto und kamen deshalb sehr spät an der Unterkunft an. Edmond hat sich dennoch Zeit genommen uns alles zu zeigen. Das Bett ist SUPER bequem und das Zimmer war sehr sauber. Wir haben sogar ein besseres Zimmer mit Balkon und Aussicht auf die Stadt bekommen. Das allerbeste war das inkludierte Frühstück! So liebevoll hergerichtet, wie bei Mama daheim. Man merkt hier einfach, dass die Unterkunft mit Herzblut geführt wird. Wir haben uns sofort wie zu Hause gefühlt :) sehr herzliche Gastgeber. Auf unserer zweiwöchigen Tour durch Albanien hat es uns hier besonders gut gefallen! Es gibt nichts! :) Nur ein Hinweis für die, die mit dem Auto kommen: die Stadt ist sehr verwinkelt, hat steile gepflasterte Straßen mit sehr engen Kurven!

Le petit déjeuner, pris sur la terrasse avec la vue extraordinaire sur les toits de la vieille ville avec en toile de fond les montagnes , était le meilleur et le plus varié de notre voyage. Et que dire de la gentillesse des hôtes ! Une particularité du fait de son emplacement, il n y a pas de parking accolé à la maison mais Edmond va vous garer le véhicule à proximité. RAS

• Alexandre (10/5): Guesthouse dans le calme en plein centre ville avec vue imprenable. - Je ne peux que confirmer ce que les commentaires très positifs précédents ont mentionné : accueil exceptionnel, emplacement on ne peut mieux, calme absolu, vue imprenable sur la ville et les montagnes. Gjirokaster est une ville vivante et c'est surprenant d'y loger au centre sans en percevoir les nuisances. J'ai eu la bonne idée d'y dîner, d'apprécier la nuit tomber peu à peu, avec un repas savoureux et original préparé par Edmond, des plats que je n'avais jamais eu l'occasion de goûter auparavant. S'y rendre en voiture peut être un peu aventureux, et les indications envoyées spontanément par Edmond sont très utiles. Il y a possibilité de parquer avec, si besoin, son aide. Merci de la qualité du séjour.

• Sophia-Caroline (10/5): Ein Ort zum Rundum-Wohlfühlen - Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit bei Edmond und seiner Familie. Er kümmerte sich rührend um uns, seine Frau zauberte ein herrliches Frühstück- und selbst die jungen Söhne sind für die Gäste da. Die Unterkunft selbst lässt auch keine Wünsche offen - sogar der Pool war schon benutzbar. 😀 Die Autofahrt durch die engen Gassen ist knifflig- aber absolut lohnenswert.

Die netten Hosts sind zudem sicher in Englisch und immer für eine angenehmen Unterhaltung und Tipps zu haben! Auch der Parkplatz für geringen Aufpreis lohnt sich. Es gibt keinen Schrank oder Stauraum für Gepäck. Man lebt eigentlich aus dem Koffer, welcher leider immer zwingend im Weg liegt. Zudem wird das Bad leider nach dem Duschen nicht wirklich trocken.

• Martin Mednansky (10/5): Lovely host and beautiful retreat! - This location is excellent, right in the heart of the town, with stunning views over the historic town, castle and mountain range. We had a little outside seating in front of our beautifully and traditionally decorated room where we spent lot of time. The pool was a godsend in the heat, and a great surprise in such historic building. We had absolutely beautiful Albanian selection breakfast on the roof terrace. A special moment we will always remember. Edmond and his family and staff were such warm, kind and friendly people, all smiles :) We were so grateful Edmond took care of parking our car too.

• Lara (10/5): - Edmond und seine Familie sind super nett, sehr gastfreundlich und haben ihr guesthouse gemütlich eingerichtet, jedes Zimmer hat einen eigenen kleinen Außenbereich mit tollem Ausblick ins Tal von Gjirokastër. Direkt um die Ecke ist die Altstadt mit allen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und mindestens einmal sollte man dort das selbstgekochte Dinner auf der Terrasse genießen. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und würden immer wiederkommen!
• Stan (9/5): Beautiful located Guesthouse - Host Edmond is made for the Guesthouse-job: serviceminded and friendly. Carparkingservice as well, which is a gift in the steep, narrow but beautiful streets of Gjirokaster.
• Jeanette (10/5): Herzlichkeit mit Aussicht - Herzliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Eine Terasse mit traumhafter Aussicht. Das Zimmer war etwas düster aber Licht half. Der Weg ist eher für geübte Autofahrer, die Wegbeschreibung unbedingt befolgen. Ich habe Hilfe gebraucht, aber für die Strassen kann das Hotel nichts.

• Shelly (10/5): - What a wonderful family guesthouse. Edmond and his family make you feel at home and are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional and we enjoyed a special vegetarian dinner prepared by Edmond and his wife. It was excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable. Loved the balcony area that we had under the grape vines. Outdoor living is always wonderful! Thank you Edmond and family Nothing…everything was great!

• Gudule (10/5): Wonderful stay in Gjirokaster! Thanks Mele Guesthouse! - Wonderful location and a great host! He picked us up in the center, because the road by car was a bit difficult!!Everything is nice equipped in the guesthouse! And the breakfast is amazing: the best we had in Albania! Besides that: the swimming pool is refreshing and nice to relax!! Nothing!
• Ulrike (10/5): Super tolles Guesthouse - Das Guesthouse Mele liegt sehr zentral ein bisschen oberhalb von Gjirokastra. Die Altstadt und die Burg sind zu Fuß zu erreichen. Man braucht kein Auto. Edmond und seine Familie sind super nett. Uns wurde sogar das Auto geparkt. Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker und auch das Abendessen ist äußerst reichhaltig. Wir haben hier gleich noch eine Nacht verlängert. Man hat einen tollen Blick über die Stadt. Die Zimmer sind sehr nett ausgestattet. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können es zu 100 % empfehlen. Es gab nichts auszusetzen.
• Manoli (10/5): De plek om te verblijven in Gjirokaster! - Geweldige locatie, prima kamer, met een goed bed, een uitgebreid en goed verzorgd ontbijt en een mooi zwembad. En de familie die het hotel runt is ongelooflijk vriendelijk en gastvrij. Behulpzaam bij aankomst en met parkeren, en toen mijn man ziek was zijn ze voor ons naar de apotheek geweest en kregen we de dag na vertrek nog een berichtje om te vragen hoe het ging. Absoluut een aanrader! Niks

• Ctonin (8/5): Buona struttura familiare per visitare il Centro storico. - Edmond, l'host, è una persona ospitale e gentile. Ci ha parcheggiato lui l'auto e c'è l'ha recuperata alla partenza, portandoci su e giù anche il nostro valigione da 20 kgs. La struttura è adiacente al centro storico (Bazaar) che si raggiunge a piedi in 5 minuti. Di sera il posto è tranquillo e volendo si può anche cenare sul terrazzo con vista sul castello a 21 euro/pex. La camera piuttosto grande con comodo letto ed ottimo materasso. Terrazzino con tavolino e sedie fuori della porta. Colazione servita sulla terrazza panoramica. La colazione, per quanto variata, non ha incontrato i nostri gusti, l'uovo all'occhio era freddo. Assenza di tv in camera. Bagno piccolo.

• Rebecca (10/5): 11/10 experience - I cannot recommend Guesthouse Mele more highly and am so glad we booked here to stay in Gjirokaster. It’s a beautiful family run guesthouse, with the most helpful, kind and welcoming hosts. It’s in a great location just a short walk to the castle and bazaar with plenty of great restaurants and bars, and an unbeatable view over the town and mountains from the terrace (where you can enjoy a delicious home cooked breakfast). The stunning view was the selling point for us to stay here and it absolutely did not disappoint. My only regret is we did not stay here longer! We had some trouble navigating the steep and narrow streets in our car on arrival and our host Edmond was incredibly gracious and helpful in getting us out of a tricky spot (we should have followed the instructions he sent prior to our arrival!).
