Guest Reviews
- Daniel (10/5): Relaxing stay - Staff. Food excellent. Parrot. Frogs at night Cafe not included
- Karin (10/5): Magnifique!!!

- Steven (8/5): Mucho tranquillo retreat in the mountains - Set in charming gardens, this posada was full of character with spacious clean cabins, a lovely dining area and relaxation room. Excellent WiFi and the restaurant provided great local cooking.
The owner Geraldina and her assistant Rosie very lovely and welcoming. All positives

- david (10/5): - This is a well run family lodge with its own restaurant serving local traditional food at a reasonable price, it has access to the river via a 30 minute walk down a very steep path that leads you to a blue water pool, well worth the walk, river tubing and horse riding are available within 400 meters
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Michaela (10/5): Authentisches Costa Rica - Die Besitzerin, ihre Freundlichkeit und das Bemühen um die Gäste Nix
- Christine (10/5): Une excellente adresse !
Encore merci
- HUBERT (9/5): One night stay before visiting the park - A modest but clean bungalow. Good breakfast for an additional fee. Quiet neighborhood, a bit off the beaten track. The owner showed us a talking parrot in the garden and, at night, green frogs with red eyes. A very good place to stop before visiting Tenorio Park.
- Peter (9/5): A great spot to experience authentic Costa Rica with good food and friendly staff\owners. - This family run hotel is a quaint but well kept older establishment. It has beautiful gardens, hummingbird feeders and many wild birds in the area. The included breakfast is prepared fresh and is the typical, very tasty Costa Rican fare with self serve coffee or teas. The hotel is well situated to the Rio Celeste with its powder blue water, Volcan Tenorio and all the other various excursions in the area. Although nothing to do with the hotel, be sure to bring some bug repellent if you plan on doing any hikes.
- Brian (10/5): - Perfect place to stay

- Brian (10/5): Very relaxing, well kept and clean, great breakfast - The area was beautiful, staff was very receptive and nice, Nothing, once a while the dog bark but didn’t bother us
- Engelhardt (8/5): - Sehr nette Aufnahme, umsichtig e Betreuung.
Absolute Empfehlung.
- Christina (9/5): - El lloc és molt bonic i tranquil. Molt familiar.
Rien a signaler
- Camilla (8/5): - Simple place and quiet
Good and real Costarican food
Family owned
- Magnus (8/5): -
- Narziss (10/5): -
- jean-marie (10/5): Awesome place - Lovely and peaceful place to stay in the Rio Celeste area, very close to the park entrance. The cabin-style rooms were great. The onsite restaurant is also a great option. The staff was very kind, making sure everything was top. We enjoyed our stay very much. Don’t forget to check out their private pool in the river. It is well worth the 20 minutes hike.
- Jasper (10/5): - Extremely kind owner, great atmosphere!
- Kvetka (10/5): - In the middle of a pure nater, a beautiful garden with lots of birds and other species, there's this accommodation with a restaurant and a very friendly stuff. The room No. 2 was spacious without air conditioning, but with two funs, a fridge and 3 comfortable beds. The bathroom was rather simple with just cold water at the sink. All was very clean and we loved the terrace in the front door. We played table games there in the evenings. In the morning there was a wild and busy life of all the birds, frogs were heard till the night. We went by feet to Rio Celeste beach place, which was free of charge, and it was very refreshing and a nice adventure to step in and out. There are some other places with a better access to the river we found later on, but you have to pay ca. 5$ per person. The secon day we went to the Tenorio national park, tickets we bought on SINAC. The breakfast was delicious and we went there for a dinner two.
700 meters above see height, but very hot and sunny. Than came a strong rain and lasted for about 2 hours in the morning. Though we loved the place totally 😍
- Ananthnag (10/5): It is an amazing place to stay and the hosts made us feel at home. The place is run by a mother and daughter and they ta - The location and the property itself The mobile network is almost nil as the location is very secluded.
- Mike (9/5): A hotel that feels like a home stay and is 15 minutes from Tapir Valley Nature Reserve. - The owners are super friendly and helpful, despite our inability to speak Spanish. Google translate sorted out detailed communications. It felt more like a home stay, rather than a hotel. The whole place is quite rustic with a large garden that contains many iconic Costa Rican frog species, including the Red-eyed tree frog. The rooms are adjacent to the Amistad restaurant, which is very convenient and produces a decent range of food. The property is a short drive from Tapir Valley Nature Reserve, which will be one of the major attractions in this area. We thoroughly recommend the place for a welcoming stay.
- Maarten (8/5): Very enjoyable posada style stay - Friendly reception and personel. En español. Upgrade to bigger family room. Water pressure and temperature good so nice shower. Bed comfortable. Strong fan. Nice food in restaurant. Surroundings, garden and neighbors all contributed to a lovely stay. No big complaints! Rooms as descibed. No grand luxury but cosy posada like cabins.
For future: The bathroom sink was not in the bathroom but just outside it, in the room. It was small, low and had almost no good lighting ( Impossible to see if theres still toothpaste on your face, or to make up or shave for example ;) ) if any reconstructions are planned we'd advise the posada to change this.
- Julia (8/5): Schöne Unterkunfts - Nettes Personal, sehr hilfsbereit.
- Gibb (9/5): - Great hosts, great location, great breakfast
- Linda (10/5): - Loved the gardens and it was so quiet. The family was very nice and helpful. Nothing
- Juan José (8/5): -
- Clay (10/5): Total gem in the cool mountains close to all adventure - This place is a total Jim nestled in the mountains near the Rio Celeste national Park! Their property also has access to a trail where you can swim in the rio Celeste. The food is really good there and a nice added bonus was a late evening frog tour through their jungle garden after dinner I liked everything
Rien
- Zahi (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Loved our stay there. - The food was lovely. The staff were lovely. The parrot was lovely. The views were lovely and the swimming was….you guessed it…..awesome. Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for an authentic Tico experience close to the magical river. Nada
- Jérémi (10/5): Little gem - The food is so tasty, the staff is very welcoming and the place is just beautiful. It got plants everywhere and full of birds. A must if you are going to visit the Parque Nacional Volcàn Tenorio and it's Rio Celeste. Nothing !
- Chelsea (10/5): Great visit for the whole family - The staff working at the hotel was super nice! Francini the talking parrot was a great welcome too. Our room was spacious for 5 but did not have air conditioning for those that like it extra cold. It was cool with the windows open and 2 fans. We ate dinner at the hotel which was tranquilo and delicious. Meals were $7-10 USD which are the cheapest we've found in Costa Rica. We enjoyed a peaceful hike down the hotel road with several horses and lots of birds to watch. The hike to the river on their private land across the street was phenomenal. My 5 and 8 year old loved it, it was a little difficult for my non-athletic mom with lots of steep natural stairs down. I would absolutely recommend this place and come back. I think hot water and AC were the main amenities we missed but would still stay again.
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Localisation and kindness of the host
- Tara (10/5): Beautiful spot, cute and cozy cabins, hike to swimming hole was the highlight! - We had a great stay. The hosts were very welcoming. The cabin was cute and cozy. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. The highlight of our stay was taking the hike down to the river to swim. Worth every dollar. Swam in the rio celeste, most beautiful blue colour.
- Nigel (8/5): Remote, relaxing, and functional - Remote, relaxing, and a lovely breakfast.
Cabins are adequate and fair for the price paid. They are functional more than luxury. The staff/owners were friendly and very helpful. A short drive to town bars, restaurants, activities, etc..
- Agata (7/5): Good - Beautiful nature surrounding you, nice garden. Talking parrot was a plus. Cheap and efficient.
Beds were comfortable and the fans kept us cool and comfortable at night. Had no idea how to turn on hot water in my unit.
They do not speak any English so prepare yourself to use google translator. I had no issue with this but I think they were slightly irritated.
- Lindsay (10/5): Best place to stay in Tenorio! - Great food on location. The staff are so wonderful - one of the ladies knocked on our door our first evening to see if we'd like to take a walk around to property to look for "ranas" (frogs). The property is lovely, peaceful, quiet, and the dog and parrot were so funny and sweet. Location could not have been better. The semi-private swimming hole was the highlight of our entire trip to CR. Entrance to the national park is a quick 3 min ride away
- Ágnes (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, friendly and kind staff (Gerardine even taught us Spanish :))
delicious food, beautiful garden and surroundings.
The speaking parrot is hilarious.
- Pawanpreet (9/5): Lovely staff and property - Beautiful project, very nice staff. The electricity went out in the middle of the night, which is not unexpected due to location.
- Emily (10/5): We had a lovely stay at Posada Río Celeste La Amistad! - The room was clean and the restaurant on site was great - we ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The host, Geraldina, was friendly and easy to communicate with. We paid $4/pp to hike to the semi-private swimming hole on the Celeste river and it was magical. Would definitely recommend!
- Christine (8/5): Very good - Very nice site with flowers, many birds. Restaurant very good. Close to Parque Tenorio. Very enjoyable. Directions not precise in Booking. Hard to find
- Kovalenko (6/5): Pleasant - Location is good. Food in a restaurant was good. The talking green macaw was a huge highlight. Room was very tight and there isn't much to do in the room. We had two kids and we were glad we were only there for the night. The lighting is really bad in the room. Host wasn't very friendly so I was surprised to read about how great the hosts were because we didn't feel it.
- Jafet (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The hostess with her family were super friendly and even told us where to go in the vicinity of the cabins. Even the meals in the restaurant located on grounds were phenomenal. The Wifi connection was quite poor in the cabins.
It was a little bit hard to find the place because the booking location was pinpointed at a slightly different location.
- Toni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shalimar (9/5): I felt I was in the middle of the jungle. Great place! - Beautiful gardens. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast! Trying to find the place. It is importante to know that the Cabinas Rio Celeste is the same as Posadas Rio Celeste.
- Alice (9/5): Amazing food, amazing nature! - The milkshakes there are the best I've had in all of Costa Rica! I will definitely take that with me to the grave. I've spent so much money here on all the milkshakes and the smoothies. The fruits here are definitely top tier. The room itself was also very comfortable. We were upgraded to a bigger room, and the beds were super comfy - the property also provides huge warm blankets as well that kept us nice and warm up in the mountains. There were so many birds around here too. Never a dull moment with them! The wifi was pretty much unusable if you weren't in the restaurant or in one of the rooms closest to it. I was on cellular pretty much the whole time. The staff here also don't speak English, so definitely get your Google Translate ready for this place!
- Jeroen (7/5): We had a great horse back riding trip with david 🐴🐴 - Playing with the parrot 🦜
- Lucy (10/5): Highly recommend! - The location was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. The staff are some of the nicest I have met in the whole world. You can feel how much they care about you and your stay! We loved the access to food, as you can get any meal from the restaurant. Nothing!
- Kerrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christof (9/5): Superb - Great and silent location. Very nice and helpful family. Quite some wildlife on the premises, e.g. frogs. Very delicious breakfast. Nothing to complain!
- Martin (8/5): Great base from which to access Parque Volcan de Tenorio. - Very good restaurant, and others nearby. Building work nearby. Also, being charged $5 to swim in the river. I'd expected it to be free, and also much closer than it was (there is about a 2km hike each way - mostly uphill on the way back).
- Avishay (10/5): Exceptional - everything was great. Service and Staff was great made me feel at home.
- Meg (10/5): Loved, highly recommend - Absolutely beautiful location and atmosphere The gardens, nice and quiet
