No es tanto un problema de ellos, es más por el sector que en la noche hubo música en el exterior y se escucha mucho el ruido de la calle cuando pasan los autos. Pero nada que no solucione unos buenos tapones de oídos para dormir.

• Fiona (10/5): - A beautiful building in a brilliant location. Loved our stay in such a character filled room and enjoyed sitting on the balcony listening to the sounds of Valparaiso. Hosts were very helpful and accommodating. Couldn’t recommend it more highly. It would have been good to have pots to cook a light dinner but there are lots of restaurants close by that it didn’t really matter.

• Vanessa (10/5): Viagem perfeita - A Casa Urriola está localizada no melhor lugar de Valparaiso. Fácil acesso aos principais pontos turísticos e com bons restaurantes próximo. O quarto é super confortável e o café da manhã feito com muito carinho. Nossa estadia foi excelente!!!
• Lisa (6/5): Watch out for extra fees: Unexpected VAT charges, and lack of transparency left a bad impression - We stayed in Room 7, which was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. The location of the hostel was excellent, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Good filter coffee and cake. Unfortunately, there were several issues that negatively impacted our stay. There was no Wi-Fi connection in the room, and the water pressure in the shower was very low. Additionally, there was no towel provided to step out of the shower. The breakfast was quite poor compared to other hostels in the area, lacking variety and quality. Simple Toast, cheese, ham. But no egg(s). quality- The worst experience, however, was the unexpected VAT (IVA) charge. I paid for my stay with a credit card. When the total amount was displayed, I immediately noticed it was around $50 more than what was shown in my Booking.com confirmation. I asked the elderly women (probably the host) about this discrepancy, and she vaguely explained it as “additional charges” that are “normal.” Since I wasn’t familiar with local tax laws, I paid the amount but requested an invoice to clarify the charges. The invoice I received didn’t break down the charges, listing only the total amount without specifying the VAT or the subtotal for the nights. This seemed suspicious, so I investigated further and contacted Camilo, the owner. I pointed out that, according to Chilean law, tourists paying with foreign credit cards are exempt from VAT. Initially, the owner insisted that the VAT exemption only applies when paying in cash in USD, which is incorrect. No other hostels in Valparaíso charged us VAT, as they all followed the law. After further questioning and some back and forth of screenshots of amounts, the owner finally refunded the VAT amount in cash. However, the experience left us with the strong suspicion that the hostel deliberately charges VAT to tourists under the radar, likely pocketing the extra money. The lack of a transparent invoice adds to this suspicion. Be cautious as tourists and insist on paying in dollars without additional charges, and always verify the invoice before paying!
• Rena (8/5): Colorful, cozy and central - filled with history - Nice large room with plenty of space for our family. Beds were comfortable. The location is fantastic and very central. The owners are quiet and kind, helping us to find parking in the area and adjust the breakfast time for our schedule. The building itself is a treasure- filled with curios and paintings by the owner. The bathroom is very small and the shower is tiny. There was a shared kitchen area that was not available. We understood that parking was included and it was not- an extra cost of $13/day.

If so, go for it. - It’s a house full of art and it offers kind of a genuine Valparaiso experience (what is something that, unfortunately, I didn’t like that much). The room specifically was clean (but with some dust) and it’s comfortable. I don’t like to say bad things about a place, but it’s important that other people know what to expect (because I had the wrong expectations). The owners are super sweet and helpful. But the place is really old, the arts are beautiful but creepy at the same time. It’s hard to open and to lock the doors because everything is really old. Everybody says that the location is kind of dangerous, so we’re always in a state of alert (i didn’t have any problems though). And I thought the parking was included but it’s not and it’s really expensive (and there’s nothing you can do because you won’t want to leave your car on the streets).

Good size four person room. Breakfast is continental, but nice with toast fresh. The art throughout gives the property great character and colour. No air conditioning for others that may need jt.

• Audrius (3/5): Avoid this place if you can. - The staff, who served breakfast. The receptionist people (probably owners of the hostel). They did not speak English and were arrogant. We booked through booking.com, but when we came... they barely knew about our reservation. They charged our credit card twice and we had difficulties getting our money back. Breakfast was poor/minimal and very late... starting 9:30, when some tours start even earlier. So you don't even get a chance to have those poor breakfast at all. In general the price for the rooms are not adequate and too high. Avoid this place if you can. There are better options to choose.
